- Please enjoy the online edition of the 2015 VFA-102 Diamondback Cruise Video. The squadron celebrated 60 years of Banshees, Skyrays, Phantoms, Tomcats, and Super Hornets since our founding in 1955. Between a hull swap from the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON to the USS RONALD REAGAN and a rigorous Indo-Pacific patrol season, the Diamondbacks remained at the forefront of tactical naval aviation. The exclusive full length video is available through the squadron and will be featured annually at both the NAF Atsugi and MCAS Iwakuni Friendship Day Festivals.
Flew with 102 from 1966-69. Great squadron and proud to have served with them.

Nice job, mixing the older footage with the new. I was onboard USS America when VF-102 was on her with CVW-1. The CAG F-14 in your squadron colors, was one, really good looking bird...
I was on that cruise with VMFA-251. It's weird to see VF-102 markings on an F-18 but it was 25 years ago.

I LOVE all of these cruise videos, BUTTTTTTTT, they all use the same music, totally lame. I can just see all of these fighter jocks sitting around and listening to this crap. How about some AC/DC, Metallica etc... GO AIR FORCE!!! Spent 10 years in an A-10 Squadron!

How about saying thank you to all have served and all who currently are serving our country. I think that the item to attack because of the music is absurd. Yes, when Metallica was younger and Jason was with them, they were the greatest band out there. Now they are older, have the guy who replaced Jason, and will never be as great. It's Totally Absurd that you feel Metallica should be the music. Rather than complaining of such a trivial topic of the music, you should be thankful for all who served our country, then and now, for what we have... FREEDOM 🇺🇸.
With our military past and present, they keep us like we are. Free to speak anything without having our life taken because we have a different opinion than what we should have. If you want to live in a communist country, go for it . move! I'm sure you'll be welcomed with open arms. In the meantime, kiss the ground that you live on, and be grateful for The United States Of America being protected by the military.

Here's my opinion when our military is deployed... Every person in a war zone, are the same and which branch of the service that you serve in doesn't quite matter. All are out there, they serve together. Every person watches out for each other. It's not "oh, he's in the Marine Corps, or in the. Army. Let's let them work their own way out of it. I'll go find someone in my branch and protect them." I could be wrong, but I really don't think so.
I appreciate modern technology. My son's and I get to keep in touch with each other on a frequent basis.

That's what I'm thankful for, that we don't have to write by letters. Don't know how the wives and families were able to wait for the mail. I send pkgs to them and it's crazy how long it takes to get there. Postal Service says, as a really good accurate example, pkgs that are to make it to the troops in time for Christmas, the pkgs have to be mailed by November 1st. Insane I say. One of my son's birthday is just before Christmas, so I sent that one a week before the November 1st date. My Christmas pkg was sent as instructed. He got his birthday pkg on his birthday, and the Christmas one on Dec 25th. I asked if they wait and hold them for particular days and he said there's so much stuff that comes every day, it gets delivered to the guys that day. So I found that to be incredible that it takes so long. I don't keep track of the dates with all of the ones I send, just those 2 because it was so crazy. Baked goods, baked cookies, I'm sure never made it there as fresh as they were on the day baked and sent. That's one reason I'm so thankful for technology. I'd die if I had to wait for a letter there, and then their reply back. Thank you for your appreciation of all who serve. ❤ 🇺🇸 ❤ USA ❤ 🇺🇸 ❤
