9.2 max g on that last video... (showed on the hud in the D) for all the people that seem to think she was limited to 7g. She was a 10g airframe, boys.
They should have updated the Tomcat with new engines, avionics, aesa radar, electronic warfare suite, HMCS, etc, would have solved the maintenance problem and been a better partner for the F-35.
This archival material is phenomenal and of very good quality, which is unfortunately what I miss about the F-14. The Tomcat had a unique look - it was beautiful. Some military aircraft without armament and suspended pods look like they are naked. But not Tomcat, this plane looks great even in its "pure" version. I like flying it... in the DCS World simulator 😉. By the way, great music around the 6:30 minute mark. What piece is this?
F-14 "104" was likely not in TopGun...Why? Every Carrier Air wing back then had two F-14 squadrons...One squadron had A/C numbered from 100 to 111 typically...The second F-14 squadron will have side numbers from 200 to 211...There are 12 carrier wings back then, so at any one time there are 12 F-14's with the side number 104...Secondly as aircraft are swapped between squadrons including the training squadron their "side number" changes..For example if Squadron "X" needs a plane for deployment they ask and get one from a different squadron....If they give up plane "104" and get plane 111 then they must paint their "new" plane with "104" so that they have proper numbers. A side number is a temporary given so that you know what birds you have in your squadron and everybody knows that those birds are from that one squadron.. A Bureau number is the number permanently assigned to that plane. It is a 6 digit number, but yo will only see the last four digits on the side of the plane in numbers smaller than the three digit 100 to 111 numbers. Ask me how I know.

Bonjour, en plein construction d'un f14. Svp .. pourquoi les lumieres blanc en bout d'aile ne s'allume pas? .. il n'y a pas de lumière clignotante sur le f14? Merci
Most beautiful jet ever!!!!
what a sexy aircraft!
God, just the way the f14 looks when taxiing down the runway with wings swept back, it just looks sexy and dangerous. I love it.
The sound of freedom.. the plane is a legend 👍
9.2G pull at near supersonic in the Tomcat. Watched it in the "Tomcat Tales" movie. Amazing.
The PC with the mustache and "Ziggy" on his cranial is my dad. I'm doing the same thing now, with super hornets.
That was me standing next to him in the green jacket!
Awesome
That is awesome 👍
Thanks to you and your Dad for your service.
the "father-son job" i wanted
Great video, gosh Japan has beautiful landscape with Mountains, the Sea and green forests. Probably a hoot to see it from the cockpit
I've never seen video with such quality with the Tomcat having the main role. Great footage
Just browsing and came across this. Been in those Atsugi hangers and airfield but it's been a very long time. Atsugi was my favorite base overseas.
Love that every crew acknowledged the camera and gave a thumbs up!
Worked the hot pits at Iwo Jima with VA-115 in 1994. God I miss those days!!! Fantastic video!
F-14 Tomcat forever! Best of the best "Anytime Baby!"

Magnificent & awesome plane. No actually wicked fleet defense fighter!

VA-93 / CV-41 1986. Very interesting flying around there. Then VFA-25 /CV-64 1988-1990. I remember Flex in VF-21 (the Free Loaders)

That F/14 104 was one that was used in TopGun

What’s the reason for the touch and go’s? Is for a failed carrier landing?
practice landing pattern/procedures. Lots of reps creates muscle memory when it comes to landing.
Tomcats are really the best!!! That's a mean bird!!!!

I don't know what a NAF is in the Navy we call it Naval Air Station aka NAS.

Out of US, NAF. In US, NAS. The Airforce has AB (Air Base) outside US and AFB (Air Force Base) in US.

The f-14 glazing is wild the aircraft isn’t that goof
It's the greatest airframe the Navy ever had
No it’s not the f18 was
@@tjtomcat1849 But you're wrong.
Stop glazing the tomcat just because you watched top gun doesn’t mean it’s the greatest airframe ever
@@tjtomcat1849 That's not the reason it's the greatest though.
