    FYI: When you compare scope views please try to do them on the same day... Comparing a summer view with a fall/winter view is going to skew the results and will always favor the summer view no matter what scopes you are comparing. A colorful vibrant summer shot is naturally more pleasing to the eye than a bland washed out colorless shot from the winter. Lol
    Thanks for the reviews and keep them coming! 😊👍

      I don't understand the votes for the Strike Eagle. Going off of the images in the video the Strike Eagle is poor at best. Who cares about color saturation on a rifle scope? I'm not looking to be mesmerized by the beautiful foliage before I pull the trigger. What I care about is micro-contrast or sharpness, CA, and a reasonable level of macro-contrast (enough to keep the image from looking washed out). When you look at the comparison in the video, the sharpness on the Strike Eagle is terrible and there is a huge amount of CA next to the dish.

    Since 2019 when Arken hit the market it has been a thorn in the side of Vortex and man does it show. I have been more than happy with mine, no matter how much these reviewers give the push to Vortex. Back then they were about the only FFP scope that had zero stops, incredible turrets, 34mm tubes, and a 1% gaurentee on tracking. There wasn't an option even close that wasn't double or triple the money. Here we are in 2022 and Vortex has finally come out with one that is a bit closer. Congrats! Competition is good for the consumer. I just ordered my 3rd Arken and its an improved version of the original with ED glass and it has a lighted reticle as a bonus too.

    In terms of field of view on lowest power the strike eagle is 5x and the arkan is 6x. Naturally the field of view is going to be larger on the strike eagle. I think comparing them at the same magnifications would've been a better apples to apples

      @@coll0070 I think anyone would be foolish to trust any channel on YT explicitly or any single source for that matter, but that doesn't mean you can't get useful information whether the channel is compensated or not. For instance, the glass images are helpful and you don't even have to listen to the commentary when doing so. The tracking tests can also be helpful if you trust their process.
      As for Cyclop's bias, at least you know it going into his videos. I also don't think it's totally unwarranted, Vortex is commonly overrated. I know people that just blindly buy Vortex. There are people like Cyclops that will take issue with that if they don't feel it's justified.

    I have 2 ea. SH 6-24, for $800.00 total new, absolute clarity is nice to have of course, at what price? I have plenty of funds to buy the very best, but for gosh sakes for plinking, hunting and ELR (when u can find a range) on the East coast US, a clear, reliable, stable and repeatable adjustable scope is all you need. Until my eyes started going I used open sights .308, 30-06 or 30/30 to hunt deer, all hand me downs. Now I don't hunt anymore, I target shoot to 500 yards (local range) and these scopes allow me to see my impacts without spotting glass. These are awesome for .22lr, 22-250, .223/5.56 and Creedmoor's on a bench or prone. As for hunting, not sitting on your ass hunting, hell no they are too heavy of a scope, open sights or a light Leopold is perfect. If you sit on your ass hunt, buy a telescope if you want, but these scopes will be more than what you need. Hands down for the money buy these scopes for target shooting/training, my middle age eyes no glasses love em for $350/450, they run sales for previos buyers.

    With all due respect to your impression of the two optics, the Vortex has already proven itself as an unreliable unit. Tons of people have had issues with these scopes. Great warrantee aside, well, I don’t really care for the Vortex motif. They have built in the cost of warranty replacement into the price of the optic. I’d rather that money go towards robust and reliable materials and construction. I want to like Vortex, but I’ve been let down too many times to spend the money on their products anymore. Just my opinion.

    I think for the price, you should have done the ARKEN SH-4 GEN 2 VS the DIAMONBACK TACTICAL instead of the strike eagle. Those 2 are closer in price and have the same glass. Your talking almost a 300 dollar difference here. I am personally going to the SH-4 GEN 2 over any Vortex, with the reviews I have seen apples to apples, ARKEN has Vortex beat. Just my 2 cents. Though I would say the ARKEN crushes it with you comparing it to scope that costs 300 dollars more.

      @@EpikArms I was just saying because other big name guys on here have said the arken is closer in quality and performance to scopes you would pay $2500 and more for and has actually beat a few of those in tracking. I have a hard time thinking a 2 year old company could have gained the traction it has, in this industry making scopes of all things, with a “strike eagle” quality optic. I have the strike eagle, all you need to do
      Is shoot with it for a while and you know what your missing. Granted, mines been extremely tough. My creedmoor is 13 lbs and on more than one occasion it’s fallen out of my truck onto the ground (my floor boards are 3.5’ off the ground) fallen in my closet I converted into a walk in safe, and that thing never lost zero.
      I personally think what’s going on with arken and their quality vs price is what is typical of most start up business. Make no money for the first 5 or so years, build the rep, get people buying, then start raising the price to what they’re worth based on what they compare to. This is a typical start up strategy. And I’m glad to buy a handful while prices are down.

    It should have been the arken vs venom. In my opinion, if you’re going to spend as much money as the strike eagle costs, you might as well spend a few extra dollars and go to a higher end scope like a tract. Buuut, that’s the kind of thinking that gets me in trouble! So to each their own. Lol. I myself, I bought two arkens since I found them for $299 online. I own tons of vortex scopes and binos and spotters and even rangefinders and love them, but if budget is the game, go with an arken. You won’t be disappointed.

    Hi. Thank you for the reviews. I have a question about the scopes in this price range. I have the Arken EP5 and SH4. These are indeed awesome scopes. I also have the Discovery PRS. It is just a fantastic scope. The quality of the packing shows the quality put into the whole product. Here's my confusion. Last night I purchased a Vortex Strike Eagle. These sell for $799 everywhere. BUT, for some reason, Amazon is selling the SE for $499. Amazon states they are "NEW", but I'm wondering if they are refurbs? Something doesn't add up.
    BTW, I have a half dozen of the older Vortex Vipers, served me well. I also have 5 other Discovery scopes and they have all been perfect.
    Yeah, they are all Chinese, but every generation gets better and better.
    ron

    • @EpikArms
      @EpikArms  Год назад

      so regarding the Strike eagles on amazon.com its likely a seller who is selling below the minimum advertised price against Vortex's rules for retailers. so its likely a legitimate vortex, they can do this and still make money as scopes in general have a very high profit margin, scope like Arken/ Discovery have less of a margin

    • @user-rg5cn1ue4t
      @user-rg5cn1ue4t Год назад

      @@EpikArms Hi. I spoke with a rep at Vortex before I received the SE. Not a knock-off or a re-furb. The scope is indeed NIB and I guess I just got lucky, because the next day, the price went back to $799.. However, I've been doing a lot of side-by-side evaluations of the SE versus some of my high end 'spare' scopes. I was not impressed enough to mount the SE on any of my target rifles. The turrets on the SE suck compared to the 2 Arken EP-5s and the SH=4 in my rotation. As I may have mentioned, I have 6 Vortex Vipers, 6.5-20X50 scopes and some lower tier models and have always been happy. Until, I got my first EP-5. I've asked Arken to upgrade the glass to Shott or other European glass and raise the price as necessary. They sure have the mechanics down pat!

    11:10 Excellent point and I am glad someone mentioned the elephant in the room. the old adage of spending twice on a scope what you spend on the rifle is not necessary, anymore to have functional rifle and optic that anyone can use for both hunting and long range shooting (past 300 yards). And both of these scopes will go past a mile. As you have shown. That being said, I do believe that if you have a budget, spend less on the rifle and more on the scope. As in, spend a few hundred on a Mossberg or Savage or even a Tikka T3 and the rest on the optic. Unless the rifle barrel is truly warped or paper thin, you can tune a rife by checking the stock for binding issues. Or change to a sturdier stock that might be a smidge heavier but it will quit flexing your action and barrel all about.

    Hi.
    I need if you can make the following comparison between the
    Vortex Venom 5-24x56 MRDA vs Stike eagle 5-24x56 MRDA and Arken 6-24x50 MRDA.
    thanks for your help.

    Sounds like you want the vortex to win your comparison for the field-of-view the arcan gave you a better field of you at higher magnification and you still gave the point to Vortex so obviously they are supporting your Channel

      Lol funny you say that, Vortex Canada refuses to work with me. I purchased the vortex myself. This video is not sponsored

    PSA: This model arkens msrp is now $650...for the extra 50, I'd take the Vortex..more aftermarket parts, quicker customer service and vortexs proven track record

      No it's not. $400 for the 4-16 and $450 for the 6-24. What the hell are you talking about?

    These two arent in the same league, the arken is far better in tracking

      @@gregc247 the eye box on the arken is also terrible. You have to look down the scope don’t you? Every scope out there has a better eye box than arken, arken will disappear in a few years and everyone who bought one won’t be able to use that warranty anymore 😂
