We tested the new Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 on the Tikka T3X Varmint in .223 and .308 the Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 is likely Vortex`s currently one of the most popular model for a few reasons (shown in the video) the optic that MSRP’s at 799 USD (although can be commonly found at 700 USD).
This optic isn’t a budget scope, this Optic packs all of the desirable features that most optics in the 1200 price range provide.

Info from Vortex:
When you're ready to step up your long-distance game, the Strike Eagle gives you more of the tools you need for less than you'd expect. Start with excellent edge-to-edge sharpness, and add a first focal plane (FFP) illuminated reticle for fast reads at any magnification and lighting situation. Add in our RevStop Zero System for a hard return to zero, and locking turrets for fast, stay-put adjustments. Build it around a 34mm tube that accommodates massive amounts of elevation and windage travel, and a throw lever for rapid magnification changes, and you've got a long-distance impact machine that'll have you wondering how you ever shot without it.

Great video Alex . PS Congratulations on 5000 subs !!!! Very much deserved
Thanks Joe! we will chat soon
Hey ya ugly sumbitch! Nice seeing ya around Joe. You're a national treasure brother.
I bought the MRAD version of the Strike Eagle and really like it!... One thing that is really great, is that Vortex also makes them water proof on purpose, something that Arken has a problem with from seeing other reviews! It's always nice to see an independent review! Thumbs up!!!
Thanks Netsurfer!
@@EpikArms bro. What about a. ( Vector marksman 4-16*44 ffp scope) it's good scope ya Bad

whats your budget and what type of shooting are you doing? This video might help: ruclips.net/video/VpJhGfjpsaA/видео.html

@@DG-fn7qg hey man I really appreciate hearing that!
It will handle the recoil on .338 lapua mag. For those who are curious 😂
Good to know thanks for sharing!
That’s what I’m throwing it on 😂
Good then my cz 457 22lr won't be too much for it 🤣🤣🤣
Funny say that that's what I was getting it for
That’s exactly what I’m going to put it on 🤙🏼
it's a really nice scope , mechanical precision and price are very good , This will be a very good entry-level precision shooting scope
yes i think this an excellent optic for the price. one of my new favourites
Vortex has a real winner with this scope in it;s price range. Love mine after the first 2 trips to the range. Has many of the same things their Razor has. Very good deal.
yeah i really loving mine, havent tried a razor yet, some day. thanks for watching!
Great review! I'm a huge Vortex fan and I wouldn't mind get this optic myself.
Earned a subscriber here. Good review. I was on the fence about buying the MRAD version...thinking it’s gotta be so cheap for a reason. However, I haven’t heard anything negative from actual users except the elevation loss from the rev-stop zero-stop system. Lots of functionality at a very low price point.
yeah thats what im thinking too. im going to keep this one!
This is only the second video of yours that I've watched, but they're just so damn good I've got to subscribe
Thanks Peter! I appreciate it
Great honest review! I own the same scope. For the $ I don't think it can be touched. Mine was a steal at $520.00!!
I bought this last week in Mrad version and I am very happy with it.
Thanks for your very detailed review you made my mind up. I will order one tomorrow.
great choice, enjoy!

Just took delivery of mine from Optics Planet. It is mounted and bore-sighted on top of my Aero/Wilson AR-10. It's still a virgin for now, but not for much longer. I will be disappointed if I am not banging steel at 700 yards on the first outing. Btw, Good video, sir.
I have 2 of these (on 2 different rifles) and absolutely love them in every way
Lmao, why not throw them on the same rifle?
@@monoply11onpsn I have a few long range rifles so I figured using the same make/model scope and with the same reticle to make it easier to switch between the rifles that I use most often.

It’s a good job they come with that warranty! Your going to need it.

Sounds like there’s experience and a story behind that comment. Explain.
Great honest review and thanks for keeping it real!
I have the strike eagle on a 7mmMag and a Diamondback tactical on the 6.5 Cre.
Both work well.
The eagle comes with the throw lever ($75) as the package.
Buy once cry once.
I have this scope mounted to a very rare SIG AMT rifle. Mine has a different reticle than the scope covered here. I love it and it shoots under 1MOA all day long.
I have this scope in 4-24x50. Its really nice. Great glass quality.
Although only a 4-16X magnification by comparison, the Steiner P-4xi 4-16x56 FFP riflescope seems to be a superior optic between the two. Still amazing the quality that can be had now days for less than a thousand bones.
Really impressed with Vortex scopes. Put a 3×9×50 on my 270 very clear.
If you’re military or LE, I just picked this up from Sport Optics for 479.99 no tax & free shipping to New York. Shipped the same day I ordered it. Can’t beat that deal.
I’m military how do i get that deal?
Interested in the 3-18 version. I'm in Canada too. It would be mostly for hunting. The illumination, weight and shorter zoom make it a better fit than the venom for me. It's for a ruger hawkeye hunter in .300 winmag. Am I ok to buy?
Straight out to 1670 yards with my 308 with this scope. Very happy.
nice i wish i was that good! im working my way out though. and i got a kestrel to help solve the wind issue
What do you shoot at 1670 yards? What size target
Michael Jordan hi mate - 18” x 24” target.
So whats the big difference between the Strike Eagle and the Viper PST? Theres a big difference in price but whats the difference, it sounds on you that there is more of a light image in the Strike eagle? So that shoud make it better?
Great review! I bought one and love it!
I’m new to long range shooting. I have a Ruger american Predator 6.5 CM and recently bought a 20 MOA rail and am planning to buy a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 MOA. I guess I’m confused how to zero your rifle with the extra cant of the 20 MOA rail to get the extra elevation in your turret? I plan to run the zero stop in the optic so will that change the results?
I was thinking of using this scope for my 300 win mag for deer and bear hunting. Would you recommend it for that application? What would the closest target range you can engage with distance-wise? Great Video !!
Hi Lorne, this is definitely a great scope but it comes down to the usual issues using a ffp scope for hunting. Your reticle won't be useable at its lowest magnification if your bears turns up right close to your stand. If you are set up a long ways away then it might be suitable. If I were getting a hunting rig together it would have to be scp. Something like the viper hst, where the reticle is the same size throughout the magnification ranges. And if I were to set a distance where I would consider this one relevant for hunting it would be 200m and beyond anything close you will want a lower magnification and sfp
@@EpikArms Thanks for the reason and feedback. Makes total sense. I will focus more on a SFP scope. Thanks for the reply and insight. love your videos!
Picked this scope up from Scheels for $480 as they honor Military/Vet discounts. I may be picky but i took it back because the parallax was not focusing according to there numbers on the knob. It would focus at 100yds on there 200yds number on the knob. Anyway took it back and Scheels gave me a new one. So far pretty impressed with it that i bought another. 1 on the 22CM and other on a T/C LRR .243.
nice!
Keep up the great work!
Keep on being you!
Thanks Artic Hawk!
great review fella, thank you
New subscriber. Really enjoyed the video. I bought a Ruger Precision Rifle from a pawn shop that came with a Vortex Viper 4x16x44 MOA scope. I'm trying to get set up to shoot PRS in 2021 and have found your videos informative and easy to follow. Any helpful advice for a virgin 😂 long range shooter?
Hi Martin, I don't do any PRS, although I do some long range/medium range shooting and from then thinks i've learned for one is 1 choose the right Caliber Id recommend the 6.5cm although you could make it work with the .308, its just doenst fare as wellk in the wind as a nice 140 bthp : get the load development perfect use a god match bullet for example the 140gr bthp match r for the .308 the 168gr bthp match also use all the same brass (i'm using miss match brass and that costs m a lot of variance in velocities and variances in Neck tension thus lots of misses at longer ranges. for optics there are alot of options depending on your price point although for PRS I would say don't get anything that doesn't have a zero stop its easier than you think when your in a hurry to go by you zero and well lose time and waste ammo. next ensure you have the correct velocity, while i Have a Chronograph (the affordable Caldwell variant) i soon realised it was completely wrong as beyond 400M i couldn't hit squat, after re verifying my velocity i was about 50-100fps under what the Caldwell reported, thank and a suitable optics for the task mind you for PRS a big 6-24x50 is not absolutely necessary and a 4-14x will suffice as finding your targe at 24X can cost you more time. additionalyl Id recomend getting one of the Kestrels i currently have their 5700 elite and it copletely takes the guesswork out of reading the wind whereas in the past just estimating cost me significant in ammo, and one final thing that I found help ful thatt will be shown in our reviews coming up is a big steel gong. in the past we were using a 6x10" gong now i have 24"x 24" as opposed to aiming on the smaller ones i aim for the big one and find out that the wind is slightly different and adjust accordingly. anyway if you want more advice let me know!
@@EpikArms
Thank you for the reply. I appreciate the time and effort you showed to an unknown subscriber. PRS and NRL are the only big league shooting I'm aware of. I'm really looking for something more regional but so far can't find much in the Pacific Northwest. Thanks again for your thoughtful response.

Leave a comment after your done using it. Curious if you get a good one.
Hahaha! I dont have it because its currently being fixed under warranty. Vortex! Nothing but the best
lol apparently 2/3 of the times it has been in for warranty work was my fault apparently i turned the turret too hard when they stopped and thats why they came right out. the other time well it lost its point of aim under recoil.... lol NOT my fault!
Good video. I have had good luck with my 4 16x 50 HS LR. For the price they are hard to beat. But you will most likely use the industry leading warranty.
I just paired this scope with the Sako S20 chambered in 6.5 creedmoor. I'm still waiting for the gun to clear the background check, so I haven't had a chance to use it yet.
Between the Strike Eagle and the Athlon Ares BTR gen 2 which one would be your pick cost aside
Strike Eagle is an NRL .22 scope, PST is an NRL Centerfire scope.. I just zero'd both almost right into the sun and the PST is far better glass to see through mirage and less chromatic aberration.
I just got this scope i was zeroing sight in and zero stop would let me go down? worked great once removed? dose this scope do this? with 20 MOA base??
Very nice. Thank you for this.
I shoot air guns. So I do use 45 inches of come up quit often. What I would like to see on these scopes is come up lines under the turrets so when I come all away around I know that I have dial completely around once twice or three time. I have scopes that the turrets will go around four times. If you want to lob a pellet out to 140 yards you need all of this. I have noticed a lot of high dollars scopes with out come up lines I move on and look for another scope to buy. When you buy on line they don't show these things in there photo's. So I send them back.
Great video, great information. Subscribed!
Thanks Loyd!
Ordered mine last night for my Daniel Defense DD5V5 in 6.5 creedmoor. Will probably have the scope in hand and mounted before I’m able to find any ammo and I’ve been looking since I bought the gun. Ugh.
found it!! zero stop!!! Thanks
I'm thinking of buying Tikka rifle as my first long range rifle. My shooting range is 500 meters. I never experienced long range shooting before, I own Glock and AR-15 which i primarily shot on 50 - 100 meters. My local gun store sells Tikka riffle in set with this scope. My question is: is this scope good enough for me as beginner? People usually say that the optics should be approximately as expensive as the rifle, which is not this case. I'm wondering if I should invest more and buy for example Razor HD. Does it make any difference on 500 meters? Is it worth the money or not? Thanks for advice everyone!
Hi there, yeah the Tikka t3x varmint is a great rifle for long range depending on the cartridge. At 500m a .308 will be pretty easy in the long term and a 6.5 will make it even easier (obviously depending on the target size) for optic a good rule of thumb is spend 1$ per 100m the strike eagle is a very capable optic. I would say even out to 1000m the glass is sufficiently sharp to be satisfied in the long term. What caliber do you plan on gettiing your tikka in?
Arent the markings in yards, not meters? Thats why they didnt match up with your distances.?
Which would you say is more clear at max power, Sightron s3 10-50x
Or this scope?
If you could only have one, which would it be and why?
Thanks for info
Hi Andrew, this scope and the sightron are very different scope for different purposes, this one is meant for long range shooting and can compensated for alot of bullet drop and is FFP. so its ideal for long range with decent glass. and the sightron is a different beast altogether more suited for benchrest shooting, something to note is the sightron has alot les internal adjustment making it less suitable for longer range. if i had to chose one for long range it would be the vortex if i wanted a benchrest rifle that was really only for benchrest super tight group size id go for the sightron. likely the sightron has better glass due to the price but i cannot confirm that

I've seen some bad reviews on this scope... I was thinking of getting tho...as I have a pst and love it.... who has this scope and is it realy a decent scope
Watch Cyclops review on this scope first
Have you hear him says that his other Vortex is in repair under warranty, Vortex is now like in a bad move with the quality.
Ok. Between the Eagle and the venom...which one for a mile shot with a 300 win mag
Wow they went up in price cuz i got mine for about $900US a few months ago.
Hey Alex, what’s your opinion on the new Vortex Venon 5 x 25 ? Thanks
Not sure yet i have one ordered
Im barely getting into bolt actions/precision shooting. What do the numbers mean in the scope? Is ffp better than SFP?
hi Pedro, the 5-25 means it start at a 5x zoom and you can crank it to a 25X zoom (that a lot of magnification/ standard) now there are many different types of shooting for precision shooting so choosing FFP (first focal plane) or SFP (second focal plane) will depend on what you are doing. so for benchrest shooting or F class generally SFP is best as the reticle is always super thin and you can really place it nicely on a target. now FFP means as you turn up or down your magnification the reticle gets thicker (it doesn't get crazy thick its justt maybe 1/3 thiker than the SFP at max magnification. so if you are going to be competing in a PRS competition go with a FFP. there is no better reticle between the two, they both have their specific purposes. if you aren't really sure, i would go with FFP, also watch some youtube reviews about which one might be best for you.
@@EpikArms hey thank you. I am looking into getting a tikka. Mainly for target practice eventually when I get better start shooting longer rang. Is the tikka t3x lite a good option? Or is the ctr better? I don’t think I’ll shoot farther than 750m and that’s after getting experience

I was in the market for a new scope and looked heavily at vortex. I found they are largely made in china. I spent 400 dollars more and bought a Leupold instead. No regrets here.
Wich leupold did you buy? Just bough a budget vx freedom 3-9x40 last week for review.
Why would you convert linear measurements to angular measurements when shooting? The reticle is a ruler, no reason to convert.
How does the eye box of this scope compare to the Diamondback Tactical 6-24x50 in terms of forgiveness?
Hi Mark thank for pointing tht out i totally forgot to mention that during the review, i found it significantly better, it wont be a complaint people are going to have about it.
@@EpikArms For me, that's the only reason I'd be tempted but I'm not sure it's worth the extra $500 CAD over the Diamondback as I don't really need locking turrets, zero stop or illumination...
Mark Thibault ,.. can’t compare with diamondback, but the box is forgiving and as good if not better than any scope I own.
I wish this scope would have the VMR-1 reticle. It would be perfect.

glass looks very blury/cloudy on edges in your camera..how does in look in person?
It looks better than that in person, representing glass quality is a real challenge even with the best scope cameras
I have one and the illumination knob won’t turn very well need to send back
Tell me why you like MOA better? I’d like your opinion please. Thank you!
He said in the video he is used to thinking and doing the math in inches and feet.
Thank you! I missed that somehow.
@@russellhammac7179I barely caught him saying this quickly. .
Math refers to using the reticle to determine range to target. MOA math is a bit easier to do in the head without calculator. However, laser ranging and GPS have rendered reticle ranging somewhat obsolete. Targets are mostly sold with 1 inch grids making zero of the scope easier if MOA. The MOA turret is 1/4, 1/2 per click while MRAD is somewhat more intuitive with .1 mils per click. Hunters and plinkers like MOA while military and competitive use MRAD. Overall, if you learned one, you learned the other.
What scope mount would you recommend with this scope? Considering purchasing to mount on a stock ruger american hunter.
I use MDT premier rings 34mm medium height
Thanks for posting this ❤️
No problem 😊 my pleasure!
The only thing that bugs me with Vortex is you can find 1 out of 3 vids where someone had to mention that they had to return the scope. I'm going with the Primary Arms Glx 6-24/50 with Athena reticle.
Yeah, typicaly i get 🍋's lol thats my luck, not this time.
@@EpikArms Well....VSE compared to the PA GLX glass VSE wins. Though opened the VSE and the turrets were loose and mil markings started not to line up past 3.5 mils. So...I will exchange the VSE and see what I get back. The PA Glx has no problems but comparing the eye box, glass and field of view its hard to not try and give the VSE another shot. SOB!!!
Vortex needs to make more higher end second focal plane scopes. Ffp are really hard to use it the heavy woods.

i Micheal, if you think better in feet to estimate height id personally go with moa, other, if you are more familiar with the metric system go with MRAD.

There is less mathmatical conversion from ranging to scope adjustments if you use MRAD.
The one I have gets fuzzy as you approach 25x. Could be a lot better
Odd it should not be so,
I was looking for a scope for my rifle and I specifically asked for one NOT made in China. I was told Vortex is made in Philippines so I bought one. When I got it home I saw a Made in China tag inside the box. Where was this scope made? Do you know? Or care?
if your concerned of its build quality China no longer is what it used to be considered (cheap-n-junky) you really get what you pay for these days. If your concern is regarding sending our dollar overseas, and devaluing the north american Economy, Id say you are right, although on the channel I review everything and typically optics made overseas are prices more affordably for the features and quality. additionally i wouldn't go as far as saying the Philippines are a better place to get optics manufactured... ive had t return my Viper HS-T for the 3rtdt time and its made in the Philippines. thanks for watching!
