The joys of Jetstar. Should've booked Qantas, orrrrrrrrr...... Better yet, driven from Syd - Melb via the coast. Some nice towns on the way (Berry, Milton Mogo Zoo, Bermagui for their fish n chips, Merimbula, Canns River, Lakes Enterance & then Melbourne)... Try & watch a game of AFL while you are there.
Tip for drinking through a Tim Tam.... Once it goes soft, gobble it up straight away, or it will drop into your drink (or lap)...
Virgin is the most reliable. Qantas owns Shit⭐️.
I hope you got another Tim Tam to eat normal & enjoy it! Unfortunately Jetstar are notorious for cancellations & delays. I’m not convinced it’s always mechanical or engineering either. Likely staffing issues. Have enjoyed seeing your Aussie adventures & can’t wait to see what you do in Melbourne!
Ignore the travel insurance and just avoid airlines like Deathstar!
Every Aussie was laughing at the Tim Tam Slam experiment. We were all watching you and thinking “don’t talk, eat it right now!” LOL. sure enough, you talked and it fell apart in your hands.
You should try it again. This time, just bite a little bit off diagonally opposite corners. Then suck some coffee, tea or hot chocolate through it and immediately put the whole thing in your mouth. And definitely DO NOT stop to talk before you put the Tim Tam in your mouth.

@@2Passports1Dreamthe best part of it is not the actual drinking the coffee or tea through the Tim Tam - it’s quickly shoving the whole thing in your mouth and feeling it melt from the inside due to the hot drink. That’s the best bit - the main bit.
Sorry this happened to you guys. Jetstar are notorious when it comes to cancelling flights. I've been there a few times, believe it or not and it's always been Jetstar. I now fly others and no major issues. I fly regularly by the way, both nationally and internationally. Enjoy the rest of your trip around our great country.

@@2Passports1Dream The staff are so often often overlooked tbh... but they do it tough. It honestly depends where you are, and how bad a day folks have had.. we have had terrible Jetstar International staff screaming at folks in Vietnam for zero good reason (after hours of delay, they’re probably just as tired as the passengers though, so … yeh). Others have been fine.
But however you cut it - those poor Australian folk at Jetstar get paid less for the same job as their full fare owners (Qantas) - a travesty given how much they have to put up with - and work to a different (harsher) enterprise agreement aimed at keeping costs to a minimum. I feel for them tbh.
Thats why i never use jetstar,,,,,,, but i have really enjoyed your Aussie trip,,,,,,

Good old jetstar. I remember my sister was stuck in queensland for almost a week because jetstar kept cancelling her flights. She received no compensation, only free hotel stay.

Welcome to jetstar haha , i recommend flying with rex airlines although at times prices can be high but majority of times you can get cheap flights which all fares are included with 23kg checked and 7kg carry on per person not only that but you can also check in and drop your bags off anytime /all day as checkin does open all day for every flight they operate even if your flight is at 7pm at night - you can choose to move to an earlier flight is available for a fee depending on youre fare could be $33 or $55 per person.

Wow, what a day. I’ve had a couple of bad experiences with Jetstar and I choose not to fly with them anymore. I agree 100% they should have transferred your luggage for you when the flight got cancelled. Anyway, I’m glad you got to Melbourne safe. Can’t wait for your next video. 😊

And welcome to Melbourne. I think you're going to like it here. It's a 24-hour city with quite a European feel to it. Hopefully you'll see some sports and eat some stunning food. There's great music and art as well. Four days might be long enough to scratch the surface. You'll just have to come back.

The plane for my first international flight ever had engine issues at the terminal and I was delayed by 9 hours. They got me on another flight (I was travelling alone), which left just before curfew at Sydney. I'd missed my connecting flight at Singapore, so they shipped me to Athens to then catch another connection to Paris. I reached Paris some 36 hours later (same clothes) and my checked in luggage arrived at my Paris hotel 10 minutes before I checked out two days later. For a first-time international traveler, I was so glad I managed to survive the unfortunate series of events. I'm glad you two got to Melbourne without further issues. Sorry to hear you missed out on catching up with your friend.

The Sydney Int business class lounge is so good, Jetstar/Rex I am actually surprised they have one at all. And you only do a small part of the corner for a TimTam slam.

Glad yaz got there safe and always remember when these kind of dramatic scenarios happen like the cancelled flight and locking yourself out of the motorhome... It makes the videos way more epic and you'll look back on it and have a good laugh 😀 (even though we never wish for anything unfortunate to happen, sometimes we can't control it so it's good to find some silver lining.)

Sorry you guys had your flight cancelled…as every one else has said, Jetstar are notorious for cancelling flights…especially on the sydney to melbourne route (its one of the busiest in the world)…but thankfully you were able to get some sort of compensation and a flight the same day…I’ve never had a cancellation (touch wood!) but have had so many delays on Jetstar flights. Enjoy melbourne!
So rubbish!! We got really luckily in the unlucky scenario that it didn’t take too long and we managed to buy drinks and chocolates 😍

This happened to us, our jetstar was delayed by 4.30hrs and we ended up losing the deal on the hire car and had to book with Avis Budget which was pretty exorbitant and we had our hotel booking at Apollo bay which was 150 kms from Melb airport.

one tip in austrlia that i learnt in school -the health star ratings actually only apply to the kind of food so if it is 0.5 it is only 0.5 for the kind of food but if it is 5 star it maybe healthy for the kind of food but not actually in general idk if that true or not though ps during the mid-year (may june july) there is a really cool light show that you should definitely go to it is free and happens every night 6-11pm really cool light show

It's all been said before.... welcome to Jetstar... never have I had a Jetstar flight that has been on-time. They changed my direct flight from Cairns to Perth to one with a 10 hour stopover in Melbourne. I managed to get that one changed to a 2 hour stop in Melbourne. It's just the ups and downs of travelling I guess, but Jetstar seems to be one, if not the worst. Never had too much trouble with Virgin and on top of that Virgin gives you 23kg of checked baggage. Enjoy.

I have had two flights cancelled by Jetstar! To their credit they looked after me. Free hotel and meals in Bali and aircon luxury bus transport + one free alcoholic drink once on the next flight
We didn't mind THAT much, but it would make more sense to just auto put us on a new flight and re route our bags, instead of having to pick them up and check them in? Seems like a waste of resource and time
Unfortunately delays and cancellations on Australian flights are all too common. There has been talk about setting up a compensation scheme like EU261 but, believe it or not, the airlines are against it. I can't imagine why. The system in Australia at the moment more definitely on the airlines side and not the consumer.

Yay, got to see the end of it at last. Jetstar has a terrible reputation. Their Business class is nothing more than most Premium Eccomany. I did fly them to Thailand, and it wasn't too bad, but I kept wondering if they would cancel a flight.

Welcome to Australia's answer to Scoot and Ryanair. With 4 airlines to choose from, and a train, I'm surprised you chose Jetstar. Whilst Rex and Virgin Australia may seem more expensive when looking a ticket prices, I have found they can be cheaper, or similarly priced to Jetstar when you consider the add ons such as baggage, food, seat selection, etc. Whilst the XPT takes about 12 hours from Sydney to Melbourne, and the train a bit outdated, I can find it a better experience than flying, at least the sleeper, especially as it's CBD to CBD. Whilst not as good as say VY or SJ, the XPT is still a reasonable option IMO.
We just chose the cheapest one… we didn’t think it could be that bad 😅

Yes they are strict they will weigh your bag and handbag and it must not exceed 7kg. They will weigh carry on in the queue before you board and charge you if you exceed the weight limit. Jetstar is the worst. Rex isn’t much better.
We were so shocked when they came to the gate and weighed everyone’s bags again!! 🥹😅

I try not to fly Jetstar. It's slightly ironic that you could probably drive from Katoomba to Melbourne quicker than it took you to fly. And with less stress. Assuming you could find a hire car.

This happened to us a while back. Woke up at 2 am to be at the airport with plenty of time. Supposed to fly out at 8 am. Delay delay. Then they move us to another flight and that flight got cancelled. They cancelled 5 flights together.
Had a 2 and a 7 year old. They were distraught they didn’t get to go on a plane.
By the time we got out of the airport, if we had just left in the car, we’d have been over half way to Brisbane. So we ended up going home, getting rest, and driving to Brisbane because the car was already packed.
I’ve almost sworn myself off domestic fights now. Cars are way more reliable and road trips are much more fun.

Tim Tams are the best - especially the special editions like salted caramel. Jetstar are notorious for cancelling flights. Their attendants also weigh your bag just before you get on the plane and genuinely seem happy when you have to pay an additional fee. I always try to avoid this airline. I recently went to Bali with Virgin and no problems.
Yup they did weigh them again! Lucky we paid for more before hand. So many people had to pay more, even if it was a tiny handbag!
This reminded me of the time had a connection in Frankfurt from Doha. Flight cancelled. First time in Frankfurt airport. It was enormous. I had to run to my gate. It is annoying. If your travelling alone it's challenging especially in an airport your never been to... glad you guys made it. Also Jetstar has the worst reputation in Australia.

It is a wonder Jetstar are still in business, they would have to be the last airline I would choose, they’re Qantas’ poverty pack carrier, choose Rex (regional express) where you can they’re smaller but leaps and bounds better

They don’t cancel flights without a very good reason, most often for safety reasons. So while it’s inconvenient, at least you’re alive and safe. You’re not leaving Australia, you’re just going to Melbourne, which is like an hour and a half.

In Australia, airlines are not forced to give compensation to passengers if flights are delayed significantly or cancelled like airlines in the EU do.

Not exactly. You're meant to bite off opposite corners, not the entire end. But otherwise it was correct. I prefer to do the slam with cold milk.
Try Rex. Cancellations 0.6% Jetstar 2.4% Qantas 2.3% Virgin 5.4% (all Jan 24). Rex also gets reasonably good reviews

Welcome to Jetstar. I used to love flying to Honolulu each year with Jetstar but in the last few years they have not been very reliable and not much cheaper than flying Hawaiian Airlines so I now go with Hawaiian Airlines.
Probably a wise move, we’ve heard one too many bad stories about them now 😅😅
Make sure you visit the Melbourne Museum.
The woman said rebook your flight before reclaiming your bags to save time. If you’d done that maybe you’d have got on an earlier flight. Makes you appreciate EU261 in the UK.

I refuse to ever use Jetstar again and I'm not salty about 1 bad experience but every time I've used them 6 times or 3 return flights! Considering they are part of Qantas it's sad.
Melbourne is a great place and very different from Sydney, I used to visit Melbourne a couple of times a year so I got to know it well
We have many different yummy Tim tan biscuits in nz. They are Decadent Triple Choc, Salted Caramel Brownie, Dark Choc Raspberry Tart and Dark Choc Mint.
We will have to come and try them all 😍😍
