Come Tuesday are we making 1400hp, great week of videos, thanks Richard
Can only get that on a track, in Houston on street too much traffic.
Cant wait for the 1000hp video. I’d love to see a comparison of how different sized twin screw superchargers behave, between having the right sized on vs to big or to small. A twin charged build would also be awesome.
What did we learn? Belts slip, bottles run dry... turbos rule!
If you're trying to run 900hp with anything less than a 10-rib, you're gonna have a bad time.
So many blower kits are woefully optimistic with their drive system.
Top fuel motors sure don't have a problem with belt slippage.
Turbos do rule.. but so does the instant torque of a PD blower. Can never go wrong with boost!
that 6.2 with a 4.0L whipple has such a nice curve and more power than most need... a nice set it and forget it combo
The screw superchargers make gobs of torque down low. Smokey burnouts! Richard is the man
Great job as usual , that answered my nitrous with turbo question , thanks Richard .
I smell a 1000 hp coming!!! A hahahaha I knew Richard Holdner was going all the way. My new favorite youtuber
Your a genius man. You will have a massive following with the content you create. Thank you man!!!
Love the content! I watch you everyday while I eat my lunch.
1/4 mile folks are lovin' these videos!
Keep up the great content!!! I would like to see more nitrous LS, Mod motor combos and maybe even GM 3800 Series II testing.
Excellent content keep up the great work!
Sir, we always hear about the 302 Windsor splitting blocks at around 600 horses, is there any possibility you could do a 302 Big Bang engine??
I've seen a lot of blown up 302s but never one that cracked the block through the middle.
I have 302 and 351 windsor with Vortec t trim at mid 600's whp. Even split a lvl 3 DSS. Went turbo 4.8 no issues now. FWIW.
Great series, looking forward to the next video. But for future series, I would like to see stuff that relates more to us that are running these on the street. There are way more LS engines on the street then are racing. Like the 6.0 all stock truck guy that wants a turbo but still being able to use his truck around town. There we are not talking about any big bang stuff, but the smallest turbo that makes 8-900 flywheel. How to make it work and how to build it. Plus videos like the back to basics cam swap video you made for comp cams. It has 380.000+ views. We like hands on videos that encourage us to do these mods. We watch these videos because we want to do stuff like this. Keep it up, great stuff. Thank you.
Equating how much HP my ride has in relation to........ Vanilla Ice songs....? I like it!!! :) Great content, Richard!
People really enjoyed that junkyard supercharger I think it’s time to put two of them on the 4.8L
Great video! Moment I heard turbo and nitrous hit! Instant like button hit. Be careful with the “talking head” commentary. I liked the wider shot final thoughts. Looks funny to only see 2 hands and a floating head. Great job as always sir!
Vanilla Ice couldn't handle 900 horse! LOL Love that 6.2L flat torque curve.
Ice Ice Baby!
I remember when 400 horsepower was a lot now that's what my son's electric big wheel has
That's a BIG wheel
Either your a night owl like me or kids doing to editing and posting? Who cares. I love it!
You know you can schedule videos to release at a specific time right?
Hey Richard, thanks for the vid, would love to see you push the Magnuson TVS supercharger to its limits, as I am yet to see you use one in any of your tests. Keep up the Great content
Thx Richard for these HP recipes series :), and I was wondering if you could make a video about pistons, cause It seems to be widely accepted (on internet) that cast and hyper pistons are only for NA applications, but I see you running a lot of tests of turbo engines with cast internals so I thought that it would be neat to have a video of you busting some myths regarding the piston materials.
Church of Holdener
Amen.
🤣🤣🤣 richard is killing these videos
After watching a few of Richards videos now... I have formed the following opinions:
1. A 7000 rpm turbo 4.8 is totally sick 🤩
2. Best of everything stroker LS motors seem to underperform compared to a similar built SBC or SBF 🤨
Grate video as always and thanks. Could you do this same series with the ford 4.6 and 5.4 both soho and dohc
Now that was funny as hell reciting the lyrics from ice ice baby
First off.. I want to thank you for truthfully and definitively taking out as many variables as possible with this series.! Excellent content. I love your passion and dedication to this platform. What can expect from a iron 6.0 (L96)..stock LSA cam and crankshaft..6.125 connecting rods.. -11cc dishes pistons..65cc combustion chamber heads 660 springs trunnions 1.7 rockets stainless valving (ls3 hand port) with my 7875 vs gen 2 turbo..(turbosmart 2X 44MM wastegate and 45MM BOV) mishimoto "R" line intercooler.. trying to stay on pump gas or maybe add an additive.. stock LS3 intake.. coils..etc etc.. goal is 700whp with.. am I on the right track? And how beneficial is a haltech 2500 elite over a stock ecm refreshed for my goals? I've been watching alot of your "camshaft" swaps vids.. and feel a little more confident about my cam selection staying on 93 octane. Any input or suggestions will be appreciated.
Nice!
Good stuff
Awsome
the last minute or so he sounds a bit like tim the toolman taylor "more power+more power=more power"
Now that’s a sexy engine 9:40
Great work Richard! With regards to ring gap, for max HP output/efficiency, how does one determine optimum ring gap? Have you tested different ring gaps, gas ported pistons, total seal gapless & gas ported ring sets? Thank you.
Great reference... btw would Vanilla do nine seconds with 900 at the wheels, or 900 at the flywheel with no accessories?
How about a test to see if plumbing makes a difference? As in rear mount turbo kits or turbos in the bed of a truck where there’s quite a bit of plumbing involved.
Twin charge twin charge twin charge!!!!!!!!!!!
Peanut butter and jealous motors.
Or better known as the stuff dreams are made of....
@richard holdener is it possible to test head gaskets and head bolts vs studs vs torque to yeild? Could you pump a tdc cylinder with co2 until it leaks or bends a rod?
Have you done any flat plane cranks, That would be interesting
Have you done any aluminum rod motors that would be interesting
What is the fuel used during your tests? Normally you didn’t mention that. Thanks for the great videos!!!
Love the 5.3L turbo video, but can you do one with a 5.3L junkyard vortec engine with different superchargers, cams and heads on a budget and which is better for your buck.
You should test the max hp and quality from the eBay 7875c with the billet wheel
Have you ever checked the difference between the dorman intake and the factory intake? From what I've gathered the dorman ones flow significantly less
would that whipple 6.0 fit in a obs ? 😅
LS and K. Series Richard
How much ring gap per inch of boar For a turbo LS
Question...Got a All aluminum 5.3....L33 I think...what are the pros and cons...how much can it take bein all aluminum? Thanks in ADVANCE!
Would love to see dyno video of cold air intakes. Ebay vs k&n cai vs just a k&n filter in stock housing. What ya think? Would be beneficial for a budget builder like myself.
I think that would be better on a vehicle
Hey Richard how would you compare the s475 summit turbo to the vs racing turbo
What's Head gaskets do you use for big Boost 5.3?
Hey Richard what is the better 6.0-block to buy a 2005 or 2007 I thought the 2007 would be better thanks Rob Vancouver Canada
What pulley size was in the f1a?
Could you overlay the 4.8 HP and torque curve with the 7.0 at the end of the dyno session and then compare the cost for each engine, just for *hits and giggles. Great videos, every day.
the 4.8L is less-it's always less from a junkyard
Love the videos! Quick question... what ring gap do you recommend for a 5.3 S475 build?
.028-.030
Richard Holdener Thank you very much! Just started this build and you’ve definitely motivated me to go for big boost.
Can someone tell me the name of the company he mentioned that built the 5.3.
Would you be posting Rb25 engine testing in this channel? A friend would be highly interested
yes if i ever get to it
Demonslayer
Good morning this is about my target hp for my twin turbo 6.0 LS 1971 GS if I could have anyone give me advice it would be you. So far the only thing I ave for it is the Cross Ram intake, a beautiful 05 gen 3 block that had gen 4 guts, I need to get rec port heads (thank you for recommending 823 heads) but I have so many questions for you lol. Should I replace pistons? What cam should I get? After how awesome Edelbrock was I would like to stay with in the com performance group. If you could shoot me a message on my Facebook page for my RUclips channel I would really appreciate you wisdom ty your the man
If you want to do it right-add pistons and rods (like the Summit stuff). If you want to do it cheap-use stock with ring gap. Add any stage 2 or 3 turbo cam or something similar. Good luck with the dual throttle bodies-that can be tough.
Richard Holdener I am going to go fly by wire but I have to figure out how to get them to open the same Percentage at the same time
It's amazing that Richard finds time to genuinely help others in the comments with solid advice for their own engine builds, especially since the relevant information on these engines is truly abundant.. I mean we're talking unavoidably common. There's probably more turbo-related LS-specific info out there on the internet than there is for literally every other engine family combined.
Can we get a turbo 5.7 recipe
😮
Probably a dumb question on the 4.8 The boost level numbers you were talking about that’s total boost correct not boost put out by each turbo?
Boost is measured in the engine's intake, it doesn't matter if it comes from 1 turbo or 10 turbos.
I think some people should wake up before they comment.
What AFR do you target when running boost and nitrous? I've always targeted 11.5 under boost but I seem to recall Nitrous wants around 12.5.
11.8
What fuel r u running? And what size injector?
Quick question, what were the twin turbos that you used on 4.8 LS to achieve ~900HP I might even be able to use slightly smaller twin turbos on a 5.3 LS to achieve around the same or similar numbers. Sometimes a 5.3 LS is easier to find than a 4.8 LS depending on how far I want to go to find one. Thanks
twin gt3076 will do close to 900 or gt3582s
@richardholdener1727 Thanks, I really appreciate it. I like symmetry, and after watching many of your videos, I thought that it had to be twin gt30's or gt35's if around 900HP is the end goal. Just wanted to know if my thinking was correct. I also thought that I would be able to keep the rpms lower with a 5.3L LS than I would with the 4.8L LS simply because of increased displacement.
Is 6.2 pump
Gas
Would love for you to try one of our cams. I'm sure yall have a budget to work with. We're Veteran owned and operated.
He works out of westech performance. Maybe just send it to him?

@@BOOSTJUNKY thank you brother
What are 798 heads I called a local salvage yard and they only have them.
I'm not familiar
Richard Holdener I cant find anything about them I wonder if he miss read them
Richard Holdener I called my local Chevy dealer and I gave them the vin that the heads are on. they said that the engine is an LC9
So I was looking at your graphs and striking similarities with the covar-9 virus curve...just saying
We hear screaming randomly here and there in your videos. Who is it that is always screaming in the background?
What? No 900 hp NA?
MOE POWAH! 😎
Moe Powah baybuh
YYAAAAASSS!!! 😆
HANDS Holdener! 👐
Really, you don't think that ones getting old
@@Hitman-ds1ei nope! 👐
Richard, NASCAR Cup motors make some 850hp from 358 ci why couldn’t it be done with a sub 400 ci LS motor. Turbos coverup all things wrong about your combo, NA high hp motors are far more interesting than a “crutch” turbo engine which have become so dull to watch.
Mr. Morningstar aren’t we talking about all out performance engines here?
i realize this is a year old, but from what I can find on google nascar cup motors are cost at minimum 50k, these motors cost less than 15. you can definitely build a 900hp na build but it ain't gonna be as cheap as a budget turbo build, and believe it or not most people don't have nascar budgets to drop on a motor.
