I remember being a preteen and my parents played a lot of Kendrick, I couldn’t remember the name of the song but I always had the words “every morning when I wake up, uh” play in my head. Literally took years before I looked it up and saw it was the recipe, I checked out the whole album and that genuinely changed my perspective on rap, storytelling, and how to understand an album
A pulitzer? I needed to stop the video to google it and im stunned. It is the most amazing things what I saw. Im ashamed of myself not learn English earlier so I can understand the lyrics back than. Edit here: Pio's Place said in his video that "there is life B.E Euphoria, and A.D Euphoria" And man I watched your video what made before that, and it is still portraying a man who can and will create savage, core shattering diss tracks, what reached my metal head, and made me go back to his early work, finally with the skill of understanding him.
I’ll never forget my AP music theory/jazz band teacher (in a very white Utah high school) telling the whole class we need to listen to To Pimp A Butterfly. I listened to the whole thing on a road trip that weekend and I was hooked. Still probably my favorite album. You killed it with the video! Maybe once the dust settles a bit from this beef you can make an addendum haha. It’s clear Kendrick has won, but I’m curious to see the fallout in the coming weeks and months
This made me respect Dot even more, but also Push bc he understood the 'control' verse. The only ppl that should have felt offended (but really shouldn't but I'll give it to them) we're ppl that weren't named ( *cough* Lupe 😂😂😂). For Drake to become a lil 304 over that verse is what birthed what were seeing today.....Aubrey and his lack of self-control over his emotions will always his downfall.

watched this video on my tv and had to hop on my phone to leave a comment (i never do this) this is the best structured video essay about an artist i’ve ever seen. regardless of him being your favorite artist (mine too) i heard not one ounce of bias nor any overharsh criticism to outweigh it. i’ve been trying to explain to my friends how kendrick’s discography is untouchable by any for the past year now, even more so after the disses, but now i can just send them this video. i commend your video and will definitely check more out, but god this video was amazing. keep up the good work! 🔥
Amazing video. I never paid too much attention to Kendrick because I'm not really into the rap scene but I keep hearing about how insane his work is and I really need to give it a good listen. Also keep up the good work. I'm glad that you popped up in my recommended a while ago.
Thank you for this video... I truly appreciate how you broke down Kendrick sharing his humanity introspectively through his pen while perfecting his craft (Genius&ARTIST)... Great work!
great video! you hooked me with the opening line, "kendrick lamar is better at rapping than anyone you know is at anything," but how much do you really believe it? i would tend to agree but it's interesting how competition is so fundamental to rap and hip hop as an art form.
His song "I" was part of what saved my life after everything fell apart. I was homeless, heartbroken, hungry, cold, and had long given up. The first time i heard it, it destroyed me. But i listened to it like my theme song and slowly gained the will to give a shit. Its why i even gave the relationship that got me off the street a chance. Its why i didn't give up after 100's of failed applications. Enjoying all of his music after that just came natural Its a weird combination but Kendrick Lamar's music and Gintama saved my life.
I’m not one of those people but I do understand where they come from drake is more mainstream than Kendrick Yk you can jam out to his shit and not have to look to deep in to the lyrics yk Kendrick you might have to listen to the song 1-3 times before you get to understand his masterpieces but once you understand you get a deeper appreciation for his music but fsfs Cole is nowhere near them or him tbh
I dont think there any arguments. Neither Drake or Kendrick are even in the top 20 best to ever touch the mic. So many sack riders right now ,Kendrick is literally buzzing right now because of Drake. Wasn't nobody checking for him before all this. You trippin.
i too had quite an obsession with speedcubing when i was younger, now its music and the connection you made with improvement at the start of the video is something ive never seen before. keep it up man 👍🙏
Not only did this age exceptionally well, it really is a phenomenal video that paints a beautiful picture of his career without droning on for several hours. It’s long enough to be thorough but short enough to maintain attention and I appreciate that.
I've been into kendrick lately. Because for some reason in the middle of march i decided to listen to XXX. or maybe it was spotify shuffle, it was in my "liked" playlist. Then i forgot about XXX. A few days later, when i was building my computer i had XXX. playing on my mind for some reason so i listened to that and it became a good day. XXX is the first kendrick song i ever heard, kid me heard it in some roblox gore video and thought it sounded badass
Absolutely phenomenal video! I love the way you linked mastering something like the rubix cube to Kendrick mastering music, it made for an easily digestible video. Good work!
Im really glad I watched this video. I did not believe someone could write about how much of an amazing rapper and artist Mr. Duckworth truly is in such a short video essay, but yet you did in 23 minutes. The comparison with Rubrick's cubes and Kendrick's album is magnificent as they are both complex to understand how to solve at first and require growing your understanding of things to do so!
Man this video is a sooooooo insane. Well done, loved it through and through. I legit didn't want it to end. Would love for you to look into other artists in the music field as well.
The fact anyone can debate if Kendrick is the goat baffles me. In my 30 years of borderline obsession with hip hop, Kendrick is head and shoulders above everyone.

@@lovethepandainyou gimme the any other person to write that much culturally dense content and still make bangers out of it. I am entitled to my opinion and so are you homie
Can we all agree that Kendrick became the king of rap? 😮💨
Not like us proves he's not even close to done.
This Drake beef might be exactly what was missing to crown his career as a GOAT contender. I think he is right up there with Nas and Jay-Z rn. If he keeps the trajectory he will be the GOAT for sure.
He's surpassed them. Nas had multiple flops and Jay Z has never made an all time great album that is pure art like Nas and Kendrick
@@chrisrhodes2 As an artist, Kdot is better indeed. I was talking about them as icons.
@@rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266he’s like 6 Grammies behind Jay, he could easily get that in two albums
@@Adri_Unsung Grammys don't mean 💩 nowadays. I know Kdot already has an overall better career than Hov but if Kenny retired tomorrow, his legacy would still NOT be as ICONIC as those of Jay-Z and Nas. This Drake beef nonsense is the perfect platform for him to shoot into global mainstream relevance and become a household name, therefore finally becoming as iconic as he already deserves to be.
absolutely incredible video and telling of kendrick’s story and evolution as an artist. and holy shit you made the bo burnham video too, i though i recognised your voice lol
Kendrick’s story is honestly one of the best examples on how a student becomes a master.
this has aged more than magnificently
This is quality, Subscribed.
15:57 I absolutely would hate when people would compare Jcole and Kendrick. J Cole is a great rapper, but Kendrick Lamar is a LEGEND
amazing video, i feel like you hit the nail on the head with his discography
I’ll never forget my AP music theory/jazz band teacher (in a very white Utah high school) telling the whole class we need to listen to To Pimp A Butterfly. I listened to the whole thing on a road trip that weekend and I was hooked. Still probably my favorite album. You killed it with the video! Maybe once the dust settles a bit from this beef you can make an addendum haha. It’s clear Kendrick has won, but I’m curious to see the fallout in the coming weeks and months
this dropping simultaneously with the new glorb video is huge
Dude your content is immaculate. Voice is incredible. Monologues are perfectly spaced and timed. You’re killing it my man.
DAMN. is the most brilliant and best concept album ever

@@KingGrippy If you want to
@@defnotCyancrownmusic ye. I would say 4yeo over it too
@@KingGrippy eh. I disagree but I understand
@@defnotCyancrownmusic concept is more beautiful and graspable yk. And it fades in and out throughout the project
Aged dummy well… dawg keep making videos… you dissect art very objectively with a level of rational I think a lot of people can understand and appreciate.
bret thank you for making comments like this for artists! Honest words of praise are so powerful, and can have much wider spread affects than just for the intended audience!
watched this video on my tv and had to hop on my phone to leave a comment (i never do this)
this is the best structured video essay about an artist i’ve ever seen. regardless of him being your favorite artist (mine too) i heard not one ounce of bias nor any overharsh criticism to outweigh it. i’ve been trying to explain to my friends how kendrick’s discography is untouchable by any for the past year now, even more so after the disses, but now i can just send them this video.
i commend your video and will definitely check more out, but god this video was amazing. keep up the good work! 🔥
Amazing video. I never paid too much attention to Kendrick because I'm not really into the rap scene but I keep hearing about how insane his work is and I really need to give it a good listen. Also keep up the good work. I'm glad that you popped up in my recommended a while ago.
So what do you think about it?
Start with section 80.
Go back and listen to overly dedicated then explore his other albums. Mind. Trip
Enjoying all of his music after that just came natural
Its a weird combination but Kendrick Lamar's music and Gintama saved my life.
I completely agree with Kendrick getting you to listen albums start to finish. I wasn’t listening to albums at all before GKMC
Kendrick is in a different league than these other 2… perfectly said.
Yeah... He's the chosen
There's really people that ague that Drake is better than this man
Or even try to argue that Cole is better. Kendrick in a different than both of them.
It’s weird, because you can like something better regardless of whether it’s the best.
Don't listen to what people say they don't know about ....
I dont think there any arguments. Neither Drake or Kendrick are even in the top 20 best to ever touch the mic. So many sack riders right now ,Kendrick is literally buzzing right now because of Drake. Wasn't nobody checking for him before all this. You trippin.
i too had quite an obsession with speedcubing when i was younger, now its music and the connection you made with improvement at the start of the video is something ive never seen before. keep it up man 👍🙏
TPAB literally saved me from depression in 2022 because its so good and the message man i love it i been a Dot fan since 2011
This aged fantastically. Great video too btw. Lot of this stuff coming across my feed, but this one is excellent 👌
Best albums reviews of kendrick so far. Keep up the good work.
I fully appreciated Kendrick when I saw him live.Mr morale big steppers tour was probably the best show I have been too
3 months later the legendary distrack “not like us” W
thought i accidentally clicked on a J PERM vid when he talked about the speedcubing analogy 😭 caught me off guard fr
btw i love your simple editing, great analogy and understandable narrative. i instantly subbed
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEOOO !!!! I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH MY ALBUM AND THIS REALLY MOTIVATED ME ! KEEP IT UP MY ROCK.
Not only did this age exceptionally well, it really is a phenomenal video that paints a beautiful picture of his career without droning on for several hours. It’s long enough to be thorough but short enough to maintain attention and I appreciate that.
That transition to pimp a butterfly actually made me choke on my food
WOW this is such a well put together video, I love it when a story can be told in a way that is extremely clear to follow, and is very different to other video essays on such a well documented topic such as Kendrick's career. I really hope you continue putting out great quality content. Subscribed.
This is such a gatekeep worthy video but I wont, beautiful, insightful, breathtaking, I just came back scrolling on my history for like 15 mins to find this video, and its worth it, great video man!
22:35 I always took "stop playing with me fore I turn you to a song" as a reference to Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst and killing someone, not a disstrack
Shout out to Cole, glad he kept his relationship with a man he goes way back with.
Meet the Grahams > Hit 'Em Up
If that ain't Top 10 Status, I don't know what is.
Honestly if it’s all true, then I’d go as far as to say it’s better than Ether.
no shot
This video was epic! Thank you so much for taking your time with it.
I'll love Kendrick forever. I FEEL almost every emotion with his music
This pop up in perfect time after all the diss tracks and catching up on all the old interviews this was hella coo to watch the break down was so on point
Yo this video was amazing man! Great work 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Bro, nice work! Its like we both got into Kendrick at the same time in the same way.
Aged like fine wine
Great essay. Thoughtful and well articulated.
Your account needs to be way bigger, this was a fantastic video
I grew up in south central, Watts “ The Garden”… i had to deal with random fights and gunshots twice a week.. waking up dead midnight on the floor hoping the bullets won’t hit us. 20y old, I decided to move to SF to study and get away from the violence. Although I wasn’t affiliated in the gangs I was in the background hoping not to get seen but I need to to avoid the “where you from” .. I was 15, I had no choice but to embrace it. I changed my life, moved away from watts and into Downey. Better than living in The garden.
That being said “untitled unmastered”. Is top of my favorite K Dots albums. Mad love to Ken. He really gave me a better perspective path, unbecoming Mad in my own world.❤🙏
Im seeing this after beff have “ended” and damm it hits even harder, he did choose violence and we where all here for it.
Kendrick is in a constant state of learning and growing. Great visual on growth.
You thank you. I look forward your next Kendrick Lamar video 🤙
Narrator: And his diss tracks were, in fact, legendary
The Heart Part II instantly made me a Kendrick fan for life
This video has been in my feed for a while and I decided to watch it after the Pop Out concert. Kendrick is the GOAT!
Fantastic video, great job!!
