I remember being a preteen and my parents played a lot of Kendrick, I couldn’t remember the name of the song but I always had the words “every morning when I wake up, uh” play in my head. Literally took years before I looked it up and saw it was the recipe, I checked out the whole album and that genuinely changed my perspective on rap, storytelling, and how to understand an album
I think Kendrick Lamar hit a different level of rap, that other rappers can’t hit this level. Even Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas & Andre 3000 can’t. Kendrick’s lyrical ability, storytelling, wordplays, metaphores r amazing. Plus his last album is a whole therapy, he shows that he’s a great artist too next to his rap abilities. He represents right now, what rap means. His music is and his legacy legendary. 🐐💙🙌🏻
He’s definitely a descriptive lyricist and I’d even go as far as saying an artistic genius, but he’s not even close to being the greatest rapper. I hate to assume, but if these are your metrics for a what it means to be a skillful lyricist in rap, then it seems to me that you really don’t have enough of a foundational understanding or wealth of knowledge of technical ability in rap/hip hop to to draw from when it comes to having a GOAT discussion…
Thank you for this video... I truly appreciate how you broke down Kendrick sharing his humanity introspectively through his pen while perfecting his craft (Genius&ARTIST)... Great work!

great video! you hooked me with the opening line, "kendrick lamar is better at rapping than anyone you know is at anything," but how much do you really believe it? i would tend to agree but it's interesting how competition is so fundamental to rap and hip hop as an art form.
This Drake beef might be exactly what was missing to crown his career as a GOAT contender. I think he is right up there with Nas and Jay-Z rn. If he keeps the trajectory he will be the GOAT for sure.

Im really glad I watched this video. I did not believe someone could write about how much of an amazing rapper and artist Mr. Duckworth truly is in such a short video essay, but yet you did in 23 minutes. The comparison with Rubrick's cubes and Kendrick's album is magnificent as they are both complex to understand how to solve at first and require growing your understanding of things to do so!
Man this video is a sooooooo insane. Well done, loved it through and through. I legit didn't want it to end. Would love for you to look into other artists in the music field as well.
His song "I" was part of what saved my life after everything fell apart. I was homeless, heartbroken, hungry, cold, and had long given up. The first time i heard it, it destroyed me. But i listened to it like my theme song and slowly gained the will to give a shit. Its why i even gave the relationship that got me off the street a chance. Its why i didn't give up after 100's of failed applications. Enjoying all of his music after that just came natural Its a weird combination but Kendrick Lamar's music and Gintama saved my life.

DAMN. is the most brilliant and best concept album ever

@@KingGrippy If you want to
@@defnotCyancrownmusic ye. I would say 4yeo over it too
@@KingGrippy eh. I disagree but I understand
@@defnotCyancrownmusic concept is more beautiful and graspable yk. And it fades in and out throughout the project
I remember being a preteen and my parents played a lot of Kendrick, I couldn’t remember the name of the song but I always had the words “every morning when I wake up, uh” play in my head. Literally took years before I looked it up and saw it was the recipe, I checked out the whole album and that genuinely changed my perspective on rap, storytelling, and how to understand an album
this has aged more than magnificently
Bruh what? 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

🧢... I'm a kdot fan too but this is too far
@@DeeMaxum fr
Thank you for this video... I truly appreciate how you broke down Kendrick sharing his humanity introspectively through his pen while perfecting his craft (Genius&ARTIST)... Great work!
Can we all agree that Kendrick became the king of rap? 😮💨
Amazing video. I never paid too much attention to Kendrick because I'm not really into the rap scene but I keep hearing about how insane his work is and I really need to give it a good listen. Also keep up the good work. I'm glad that you popped up in my recommended a while ago.
So what do you think about it?
Start with section 80.
Go back and listen to overly dedicated then explore his other albums. Mind. Trip
It’s crazy because his personal AND artistic growth were the tools which gave him the overwhelming edge over Drake
great video! you hooked me with the opening line, "kendrick lamar is better at rapping than anyone you know is at anything," but how much do you really believe it? i would tend to agree but it's interesting how competition is so fundamental to rap and hip hop as an art form.
That transition to pimp a butterfly actually made me choke on my food
Yo this video was amazing man! Great work 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Best albums reviews of kendrick so far. Keep up the good work.
This Drake beef might be exactly what was missing to crown his career as a GOAT contender. I think he is right up there with Nas and Jay-Z rn. If he keeps the trajectory he will be the GOAT for sure.
He's surpassed them. Nas had multiple flops and Jay Z has never made an all time great album that is pure art like Nas and Kendrick
@@chrisrhodes2 As an artist, Kdot is better indeed. I was talking about them as icons.
@@rodrigoodonsalcedocisneros9266he’s like 6 Grammies behind Jay, he could easily get that in two albums
@@Adri_Unsung Grammys don't mean 💩 nowadays. I know Kdot already has an overall better career than Hov but if Kenny retired tomorrow, his legacy would still NOT be as ICONIC as those of Jay-Z and Nas. This Drake beef nonsense is the perfect platform for him to shoot into global mainstream relevance and become a household name, therefore finally becoming as iconic as he already deserves to be.
THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEOOO !!!! I HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING WITH MY ALBUM AND THIS REALLY MOTIVATED ME ! KEEP IT UP MY ROCK.
15:57 I absolutely would hate when people would compare Jcole and Kendrick. J Cole is a great rapper, but Kendrick Lamar is a LEGEND
i too had quite an obsession with speedcubing when i was younger, now its music and the connection you made with improvement at the start of the video is something ive never seen before. keep it up man 👍🙏
Absolutely phenomenal video! I love the way you linked mastering something like the rubix cube to Kendrick mastering music, it made for an easily digestible video. Good work!
This pop up in perfect time after all the diss tracks and catching up on all the old interviews this was hella coo to watch the break down was so on point
Not like us proves he's not even close to done.
Not only did this age exceptionally well, it really is a phenomenal video that paints a beautiful picture of his career without droning on for several hours. It’s long enough to be thorough but short enough to maintain attention and I appreciate that.
22:35 I always took "stop playing with me fore I turn you to a song" as a reference to Sing About Me/Dying of Thirst and killing someone, not a disstrack
This video was epic! Thank you so much for taking your time with it.
WOW this is such a well put together video, I love it when a story can be told in a way that is extremely clear to follow, and is very different to other video essays on such a well documented topic such as Kendrick's career. I really hope you continue putting out great quality content. Subscribed.
This is such a gatekeep worthy video but I wont, beautiful, insightful, breathtaking, I just came back scrolling on my history for like 15 mins to find this video, and its worth it, great video man!
TPAB literally saved me from depression in 2022 because its so good and the message man i love it i been a Dot fan since 2011
Im really glad I watched this video.
Your account needs to be way bigger, this was a fantastic video
I fully appreciated Kendrick when I saw him live.Mr morale big steppers tour was probably the best show I have been too
This aged fantastically. Great video too btw. Lot of this stuff coming across my feed, but this one is excellent 👌
Fantastic video, great job!!
Enjoying all of his music after that just came natural
Its a weird combination but Kendrick Lamar's music and Gintama saved my life.
This is so professional nice vid bro
Bro, nice work! Its like we both got into Kendrick at the same time in the same way.
I've been into kendrick lately. Because for some reason in the middle of march i decided to listen to XXX. or maybe it was spotify shuffle, it was in my "liked" playlist. Then i forgot about XXX. A few days later, when i was building my computer i had XXX. playing on my mind for some reason so i listened to that and it became a good day. XXX is the first kendrick song i ever heard, kid me heard it in some roblox gore video and thought it sounded badass
Masterfully curation and execution my man! This was brilliant. The climb the mountain motiff was perfectly interwoven into a clear, simple coherent piece that I really appreciated. Propz!!
SC2 Gen chat was the damn wild west lmfao! That clip really brought me back lol
Best youtuber ive stumbled upon inna while. keep it up M8
3 months later the legendary distrack “not like us” W
I really love your long form content man! Whether it's kendrick or spongebob, I could listen to you talk for hours im so serious
thought i accidentally clicked on a J PERM vid when he talked about the speedcubing analogy 😭 caught me off guard fr
btw i love your simple editing, great analogy and understandable narrative. i instantly subbed
This was beyond inspiring. Thank you for putting this together. Onto step one soon. 💜
Excellent documentary Creator!
I just binged all of your videos. I am now sad that I have come to the end of it all. Amazing quality man. I hope we can get some more output but you have huge potential and skill
Kendrick is in a different league than these other 2… perfectly said.
beautiful video. ill definitely be showing this to my friends
I completely agree with Kendrick getting you to listen albums start to finish. I wasn’t listening to albums at all before GKMC
I’m passing through due to recent events but this video is incredible. Well done.
The Heart Part II instantly made me a Kendrick fan for life
Great essay. Thoughtful and well articulated.
This was perfect. Thank you.
I loved the editing and narration of this video, super awesome thank you
Phenomenal video!
I'm 3.33 in, and already I'm like bloody hell this is well done. One of my favourite things about this beef has been finding new channels the algorithm wouldn't have shown me before!
