Here's a fun fact during this episode: During the talent show you can see the actor who plays Lexy's father is the same who plays Dr. Foley in Cult of Chucky
I’m disappointed you didn’t like the slap scene as much as I did because as jake was literally about to say “say something or I’ll burn you” chucky smacks his mouth almost to hold back from a direct repeat of Andy’s mom. I thought it was really funny and well played
That’s one thing I love about this series. What you said during the end. I love that Jake didn’t automatically try to blame chucky for anything, because in horror movies we all know how that’s gonna go. So I’m kinda glad they’re taking that approach. Cause it’s quite common in horror movies whether it be killer dolls or ghosts. I just love that Jake didn’t pull one of those. Makes me even more interested.
I really liked this first episode! The only negative I have, is the puppeteering isn't high quality compared to the original movies. Chucky used to always feel so alive, especially with his facial and arm movements. While watching the older films I never once went "Yeah, that's a puppet," because his puppeteering was so convincing. Especially in Seed. But that isn't the case anymore. I'm not sure what the budget was or if it had a impact on that, but you can tell they've replaced the fully animatronic body with rods instead to move his arms. Which just doesn't give off the same effect. In the final scene his arm was weirdly bent, and when he threw up, his head almost looked like his was moving completely separate from his body. Which hurt the illusion that this doll is more than a puppet. Some might think of this at a nit pick, but for me it's distracting, and kind of mind boggling because It's 2021 and Chucky looked better in the 80's and 90's. Any thoughts on this?
This was the exact comment I was looking for!! This is exactly what I thought when watching the show. Especially during the vomit scene! It also looked off in the science lab scene (when Lexy discovers he’s alive) and chucky hops off the table and stands by the door. My favorite aspect of the series has always been how “alive” chucky felt. But in this iteration the puppeteering felt more like something you’d see in a parody of chucky (like disaster movie level parody) rather than in something directly from don himself. However, I do think you’re right…Considering it’s a tv show, I think the budget may be lower and so they may have had to cut the puppet budget a bit. It seems that the only animatronics they’re using are in his face and not for his overall body movements (on exception of the end scene when he’s talking to Jake). I do hope that the puppeteering improves over the course of the show though, but I don’t see that happening. It definitely disrupts the illusion, but I enjoyed the episode nonetheless!
It's because Kevin Yagher and his team were involved in first 4 films. Universal took cheap route and didn't want to pay him enough so they got Tony Gardner. I do think this is Tony's best looking doll, but not on Kevin's level.
The pokemon part made me laugh so hard the first time I saw the episode I would have never thought that one day that would come out of Chucky's mouth lol
I love the slow burn in this episode it reminded me of the first child's play and curse of chucky. Also the character of Jake is very original and amazing so glad they chosen this storyline.
I loved the murder of Jake's dad. Had me laughing so hard. Chucky should never be to serious. After all, he is a child's toy possessed by a serial killer using voodoo. The kill actually reminded me more of the babysitter kill in Curse of Chucky. Where he kicked the bucket of water over onto the electrical socket.
There's a difference between not being serios and being a straight up parody. In the Child's Play chapter, he was not serious yet serious enough as the series did not feel like a pathetic attempt at being funny. Stop praising the parody part of Chucky. Seed and Cult are total garbage, the first and second episodes were nice but the first puke kill was awful and pretty lame. You'd think that 23 years of experience would come into clutch but nah.
my take from the episode, with Chucky partnering up with Jake as his "handler" is that i get the feeling Chucky saw Jake as a 2nd chance to connect with someone kinda like Glen/Glenda. he wanted Glen to be just like him, another guy to bro and pal around with their common interest in killing. now he sees an adolescent who's bullied by his peers for being gay, and figures that's prime material for a serial killer in the making. so i get the feeling he's gonna go after Jake's bullies and try to get the kid to toughen up and start taking charge in his own life by taking out all those who wrong him
I'm honestly in love with the show, it feel good to have the OG Chucky back. The talent show scene had me at the edge of my seat dying of laughter. Can't wait to see where the series go, and also can't wait to see your new rockstars' style breakdowns
I enjoyed it a lot. Some parts felt a little cheesy to me but not necessarily in a bad way. I also really like Jake and his story feels natural so far. I'm excited to see where the series goes!
I would also love so much if Jake remade his sculpture, put the chucky head on it, and as the final shot of this season we see him waking up in a new human sized, creepy monster body
This first episode was good. I’m intrigued to see how Junior’s character develops and where he lands as far as being a likable character. I think him going back and forth with being mean to and then defending his cousin is typical family dynamics. I’ll pick on my brother and give him a hard time but I won’t let you as an outsider do it….
I think Junior is a closet gay. That's why the hallway scene had a part where Jake's friend asked to be introduced and then to only be rebuttal'd by his "girlfriend". Plus their awkward "kiss". Junior is lashing out against Jake. But we'll see.
all the Jake and his father stuff is apparently an dialed up version of Mancini's own childhood where his father was very critical of Don's sexuality, Don said Jake is basically him as a teenager
Man I didn’t even know I needed to see this episode until I watched it before coming to work 😭😂 like I finished it a few minutes ago and that talent show scene had me decreased 💀 when he just appeared behind Jake, I literally let out a chuckle. This is going to be my show and I already can’t wait to finish 😩❤️🔥 #ChuckyBoy
I loved the first episode so far. But the only complain I have for it. Is when the scene changed to him throwing away Chucky and being at the talent show. That’s it honestly, but with his first kill. It was brilliant to me cause the Forensic should realize the substance to be vomite. And with the history of his alcohol, plus the empty bottle up stairs. They could see this as a accident. He went down stairs intoxicated, to turn the power back on. And with the basement being dark, he couldn’t have seen the wire. So after turning on the power he vomited on the floor which caused his death. Maybe I’m just reading to much in to it. But hey, loved your video and keep up the amazing work Chucky Boy.
Just found this channel because I just had to talk about how much I loved this first episode. Great series for fans of all ages and amazing show for new horror/Chucky fans. Highly recommend
THIS WAS AWESOME! It kind of lacked Chucky's character but he's always there and that played up the tension, which is pretty cool. Absolutely LOVED the talent show part, damn was it hilarious and great.
The way i see it is Junior was fine with picking on Jake when there isnt much of an audience, but when Lexi shared her plans to humilate him infront of everyone, he suggests she's taking it to far. I think the only reason he's still pissed with Jake is because of the "stunt" he pulled on stage. As far As he knows, Jake just accused his girlfriend of being a two-timing bitch on top of all the other shit. That would definitely give him reason to dislike his cousin.
I thought Junior displayed a not-so-small hint of jealousy toward Jake, because he was starting to get the attention of Devon, and the 2 of them developed a very obvious chemistry at the cafeteria table. Maybe it's possible that Junior also likes Devon, and that he is a self-hating, closeted, homosexual young man in denial.
I was able to see the world premiere at NYCC. And everyone there blew up lost their minds when we got to see the pilot. And then to be entertained by Tiffany herself (Jennifer Tilly) and Don Mancini was the icing on the cake.

I was waiting for this video! Im commenting before watching but I definitely feel like there were some nods to the previous movies. The biology teacher locking Chucky in her closet ( second movie nod, also when Chucky hopped off his desk when Lexy's back was turned in the classroom was so cool!!) When Jake was holding up Chucky and said "talk to me damn it" it reminded me of the first movie with Andys mom before he revealed himself. Also, idk if its possible but it would be soo cool if every Tuesday we could do like a Chucky viewing party with Chris!! Edit: Just finished the video and definitely agree with your points. I also think that some of the acting can be a bit better but all in all Im super excited for this show.
One other thing I noticed with the Talent Show scene is it’s similar in a way to an episode from goosebumps (one of the Slappy/Living Dummy ones I’m not sure which one because I watched it a longtime ago) Both “dolls” are put in a talent show scene and talk on there own pointing fun at people. Only Slappy targets everyone. Not much of an Easter egg, but fun to compare.
The opening scene where the lady comments that the knife is missing from the knife block instead of them just panning down to show it missing, with maybe some ominous music really disappointed me, but I do agree that they're doing a good job blending the humor with the "horror" aspects of Chucky
Yes that whole thing bugged the hell out of me. Plus I hated that he actually took that knife because it was way too big for the kid not to notice his doll came with a huge knife!
What an episode! It was truly full of surprises from start to finish though mostly everything shown was revealed in the trailers which leaves you wondering what do they have in store for us in the upcoming 7 episodes 😱
I find it funny that Chucky actually Vomited Achol But seriously i watched it this morning and holy crap this show is great so far, the talent show part was very funny
I think the trade-off of having a slightly sub-par performance is worth having Alex back, the man really hasn't done a whole lot in the way of acting since he was a kid, and there's a reason a lot of child actor's don't keep that career path later in life. That being said, I love him, and I wouldn't replace him for the world.
The mansion outside, of the protagonist uncle, gives me vibes of the mansion of Jennifer Tilly in seed, and the inside kind of remind me of the inside of the house in curse of chucky.
Speaking of Jennifer Tilly.. *DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THAT TIFFANY WAS IN THE OPENING SCENE AT THE YARD SALE?!?* ..she was the woman in the bright red hooded coat. I wonder- if she was the one who snuck Chucky into the yard sale?- seeing as how the woman selling Chucky didn’t even actually know where he came from in the first place..
Okay out of all of Chucky's gruesome kills the throw up kill is literally the only kill that has ever made me wanted to throw up! But besides that I really like this first episode and I'm excited for the next episode
I really enjoyed this first episode. Story seems refreshing with the relationship between Jake and Chucky. The Doll looks the best it has ever been imo. Only thing I’m worried about is the Chucky backstory. Kinda liked the whole “Chucky is just a psychopath” or “he’s evil cause he’s evil” the mystique was a big thing

The pace was extremely fast love the way it was filmed and even though it was weird the vomit kill was creative as hell I loved it that scene & the Chucky ventriloquist scene was my favorite parts they also did some extremely good clone shots can't wait to watch next week
I felt like it was a PERFECT start to the series. Felt it did a good job of setting up the story and letting us know what to expect from future episodes. I too was hoping for a better first kill scene, but it didn’t bother me either. I loved it!

As someone who has studied psychology, I personally noticed a pattern in a minority people who are gay. In some, but not all, cases. Someone who is gay has typically lost someone close to them, such as a mother, sister, or brother, which causes them to turn someone of the same gender with the traits of the lost loved one to fill that very void. Which is exactly what happens in the Chucky series. Jake lost his mother, and fell in love with a guy who has traits that reminds him of his mother. It's basic psychology.

@@SlayerXGamez that's a possibility. From trailers, we can see that Nica is back still possessed by Chucky & Tiffany is still in the body of Jennifer Tilly. The show also takes place a few weeks after Cult

Another bad thing i dint like was that the kid acts like chucky did just not kill his dad and still brings the doll to his family😂 like you are bringing him to kill the rest of your family. His father was a drunk failure who destroyed his kid's passion for art, constantly berated him, and then punched and threatened to kill him when Jake asserted that he was gay to his face. And with Chucky having his back at the talent show Jake has all the reason to keep Chucky with him, he was already proving to be a better support than his father ever was. Yes, the bullying is what's probably gonna drive his motivation towards killing eventually but Chucky is using that to bond with Jake and to make him a part of the cult. The plot is fine, your take on the blood thing is just a nitpick, and there's still 7 episodes. Your guess that it's gonna be STRICTLY because of bullying doesn't make as much sense as the way I think it's gonna go. Because at that point why even make this show about Chucky?

The writing for the show is going to be awesome, they are building up suspense and I love every second of it

To me it made him more creepy
i completely agree
It's because Kevin Yagher and his team were involved in first 4 films. Universal took cheap route and didn't want to pay him enough so they got Tony Gardner. I do think this is Tony's best looking doll, but not on Kevin's level.

@@jagshe1829 Adults are talking, go to sleep! Your opinion is irrelevant, cartoon wanker.
my take from the episode, with Chucky partnering up with Jake as his "handler" is that i get the feeling Chucky saw Jake as a 2nd chance to connect with someone kinda like Glen/Glenda. he wanted Glen to be just like him, another guy to bro and pal around with their common interest in killing. now he sees an adolescent who's bullied by his peers for being gay, and figures that's prime material for a serial killer in the making. so i get the feeling he's gonna go after Jake's bullies and try to get the kid to toughen up and start taking charge in his own life by taking out all those who wrong him
Awww i was hoping that chucky was gonna make jake's sculpture come to life. But like the sculpture my hopes was smashed
That would have been scary ahah maybe they’ll do something really crazy and jake will remake it and put jakes soul in it

He becomes the corpse of Jakes Dad and now he’s a zombie

This first episode was good. I’m intrigued to see how Junior’s character develops and where he lands as far as being a likable character. I think him going back and forth with being mean to and then defending his cousin is typical family dynamics. I’ll pick on my brother and give him a hard time but I won’t let you as an outsider do it….
I think Junior is a closet gay. That's why the hallway scene had a part where Jake's friend asked to be introduced and then to only be rebuttal'd by his "girlfriend". Plus their awkward "kiss".
Junior is lashing out against Jake. But we'll see.
@@ArcDragoon Yuh he was giving me fruit whose jealous of his out fruit cousin vibes

Same
I loved the first episode so far.

So glad to Mancini back in the driver seat! When my only complaint is I want more, it's going pretty well!
I more too!!
When wasn't he in the driver seat for this series? (other than the reboot, the series was already confirmed to continue when that was announced)
The reboot wasn't bad!
Chuckys first kill of the show was cracking me up and creative kill. I liked the first episode
@@ahankins3270 i thought the hint was made at the dinner table. the way he kept saying “gay is cool now”...like he was doing too much.

The biology teacher locking Chucky in her closet ( second movie nod, also when Chucky hopped off his desk when Lexy's back was turned in the classroom was so cool!!)

Not much of an Easter egg, but fun to compare.
i think thats Dead Silence too, Billy makes fun of the kid interrupting
The opening scene where the lady comments that the knife is missing from the knife block instead of them just panning down to show it missing, with maybe some ominous music really disappointed me, but I do agree that they're doing a good job blending the humor with the "horror" aspects of Chucky
Yes that whole thing bugged the hell out of me. Plus I hated that he actually took that knife because it was way too big for the kid not to notice his doll came with a huge knife!

*DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THAT TIFFANY WAS IN THE OPENING SCENE AT THE YARD SALE?!?*
..she was the woman in the bright red hooded coat. I wonder- if she was the one who snuck Chucky into the yard sale?- seeing as how the woman selling Chucky didn’t even actually know where he came from in the first place..
