Fun fact: Both James Ingram & El DeBarge had siblings in the group SWITCH that sang the song "They'll Never Be A Better Love". RIP Barry White & James Ingram🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Twenty five years ago, my Mom introduced me to a song and an artist that I grew to idolize. That song was “The Secret Garden” by Quincy Jones ft. Al B. Sure, James Ingram, El DeBarge and Barry White. She played it while I was in the shower and she was cleaning up. All I could remember hearing were black men singing about how to love and treat a woman and I wanted to know just that. I made her play it over and over and over, until I could sing it in my head without needing to hear the cassette. I had become a Young Man. Quincy Jones to me was my groove, my step, my essence, my aura. I’ve played this song before school dances, before I asked my wife to marry me, before job interviews, all to give me the mojo I felt I needed to handle my business. You couldn’t tell me I wasn’t the Man after I heard this song. It’s art to me, because it was the biggest part of me. Today, the biggest part of me died. I lost Me. Rest Easy Q.
That Sho you right part sets the tone, but Barry at the end though. Man that Bass came through smooth.

I had to stop in and reminisce for a few minutes. It made me wish you had the extended mix where the melody is allowed to weave more gently around each of their verses and that sexy ending just keeps building and building. A classic!
Cant believe this is the first time you heard this beautiful somg by quincy jones n his guests barry white 🤍 you dont know what ya missing girl this song is pure class indeed bedroom music indeed say no more
Definitely a Love Making Classic I remember my mother paying a the hits daily as we were growing up with her young self in the 80’s & 90’s I’m sure that’s why me and my siblings love music so much.. Infact I was just vibing to the extended version of this song last month.. 😌 AL B.Sure, Berry White, El Debarge, P.Funk, Stephanie Mills, SADE, Teena Marie, just to name a few😉
lol That first guy at the intro was the mega "producer" himself - Quincy Jones. Quincy would produce & release albums under his name but feature various artists to do the singing, because Quincy himself didn't sing, he just: wrote, produced, and hired singers. That's what a Quincy Jones album is all about. Good reaction.
I am so glad I found your channel. Shout out to WHUR Quiet Storm in DC for introducing me to all these great songs as a teenager. I remember hearing MJ was supposed to originally sing El’s part.
Two of the artists on this track had brothers in the group Switch. El Debarge and James Ingram, their brothers being Tommy and Bobby Debarge and Phillip Ingram of Switch, who has more music you should react to. There'll Never Be, I Call Your Name are top of the list, but you should dive into the music of the group El lead sings for, Debarge, and their songs. All This Love and I Like It are the first that come to mind from Debarge. Enjoying seeing you on this journey. Let's keep going.
This is surnuff a love making and baby making song🔥🔥🔥 And that man at the beginning and end looking at you is Quincy Jones😂 Had the pleasure of meeting James Ingram after a concert. And I asked him if the Secret Garden was what I thought it was. He smiled and said it was😅 Enjoyed your reaction Ashley!
You should check out The Jones girls three sisters who had a few hit songs during the late 70's or early eighties. Checkout "Nights over Egypt. A very majestic song!
