  • a buddy of mine help me get this thing onto the makeshift Harbor freight tools Dolly this morning but the same principle would have applied for lifting this up into place and scooting the pallet under the HFT dolly. This is the way the generator will likely be moved to the actual build location as well but I may need to incorporate a couple sheets of OSB on the grass and just move them head to tail over and over till I get to the build site

I just used a car jack to lift one end at a time. I installed 8” cheap harbour freight rubber wheels on all 4 corners of the pallet. Put a rope through one end of the pallet to act as a pull loop and proceded to pull it across a 20 foot gravel side lot and another 60 foot across my back yard over rough terrain and up onto my concrete pad that I had previously poured. Built a quick 2x4 a frame over it. Used a come along to lift it off the pallet, moved my roller pallet out and set it in place easily. It worked absolutely fantastic.

I was a Generac Tech for near 25 years and recently retired. Moved many sets in my time but doing it myself was always on rollers (4" PVC or round fence posts) rather than something with wheels. Used blocks of wood and long prybars to lift and planks over soft dirt / gravel. I applaud you doing this solo as a homeowner.... with no prior experience. Speaking of experience, I found plywood or OSB is too easy to punch through with those small wheels. 2x4s are cheap and you can lay them out like RR track over a lawn.
