They killed off James, because John Amos didn’t agree with a lot more than what you spoke of. He got to the point where John was asking the writers to step outside. This is when he created a toxic workplace and they killed the character James off the show

Maurice Hines has a good doc on Starz. You should check that out. Maurice Hines or Gregory Hines would be good subjects for you to research.
That's exactly why they killed off James' character due to loving the buffoonish way JJ acted and I have to admit, I didn't like his character being that foolish.
@@sufundasamuels2313 To be fair!! JJ became a more serious & responsible character when they killed off James Evans. He worked hard & supported the family.

Yeah, we've got to give Mr. Lear his props for those groundbreaking, qualitative sitcoms! People always say that JJ made the show, that JJ was the funniest character, but TO ME, John Amos as James Evans MADE the show! It was evident when the character was killed off. The way Amos/James, the father figure, discipled JJ, Michael, and Thelma, worked hard to support them, and loved "DAMN, DAMN, DAMN," was what I enjoyed the with GT!!! That's just me! @@bettyjohnson6953 she says that the TV show producers stayed talking about her weight and image she said her job on 227 had her feeling like she was ugly and unattractive to talk about a child is mean Thea said mean things to Brandy although she did get testy with her that was no reason to bully a child.
Same way judy garland who played Dorothy on wizard of oz got nasty comments about her weight etc...apparently they didnt wnt to use her for the role either cos they said she was fat like a pig cos who they wanted couldnt sing and she could...land they had to tie her boobs down and stuff to mk the weight not noticeable...etc
Janet Jackson had a good part on good times big time rest in peace the cast of good times
Thanks for the upload!!! U always come thru when I need you!! Best channel on YT!!! Heeeyyyy CU FAMILY!! Peace and blessings everyone!!!
Once again thank you for the enlightenment on these 70’s shows. Keep the content going. Eric Monte and Mike Evans were pioneers for our people! 💪🏾✊🏾
Love these stories so much
Great job once again! Thank you! Since you mentioned Gregory Hines, wonder if you'll possibly do one on the Father and Son. Love to see what info you'd come up with.
R.I.P.:
Helen Martin
Esther Rolle
Teddy Wilson
Ben Powers
Ja’net DuBois
Johnny Brown
Good Times had the bomb stars and the bomb supporting cast, I have ever seen🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thx for another great documentary even tho I knew half of this already. ❤
WOW!! You’re channel is INCREDIBLE! so glad you’re documenting the legacy of these great artists! It’s a real resource and great narrative of a resource for the community. You keep it simple, no frills
But profoundly informative. 🔥🔥🔥
Mr. Brown showed his talent as an impersonator on one of the talent show episodes. He impersonated Louis Armstrong and Carol Channing.
If at one point in ya life good times wasn't ya favorite show as a child ya childhood wasn't shit and u wasn't living life 😂😂
All facts 😂😂😂😂😂
Boy you weren't even born then....tf
Ben Powers and Sinbad could have been brothers! Think about it. By the way, I love ❤️ Celebrity Underrated. Thank you for all your awesome research on all the special artists we love, wonder about and miss tremendously!
JJ’s painting of Sweet Daddy’s girlfriend Savannah is my all-time favorite episode. Girlfriend went off when she saw how ugly JJ painted her. 😂😂
Episode was hilarious 😂
Another good one from you keep them coming
I love your videos❤There sad but interesting and amazing ❤God bless you ❤
Been waiting on this!! 👌👌👏👏👏💯💯💯❤️❤️❤️
Teddy Wilson also starred in the tv series tales from the crypt in the episode fitting punishment alongside the late moses Gunn, playing the pianist
It wasn't Gregory Hines Sr's group he was in. It was Maurice Hines Sr's group. Gregory and his older brother Maurice Hines Jr. joined their father's trio in the late 60's, that included Johnny Brown. Maurice Hines has a good doc on Starz. You should check that out. Maurice Hines or Gregory Hines would be good subjects for you to research.
I’m still upset that they killed off James Evans. Also the show started focusing more on JJ than the other characters
And that was the downfall of the show. Jj was talented but his character became annoying and boring.
This is throughly researched, you are awesome.
I clicked faster than rising gas prices
🤣🤣🤣
Lol 😂😂😂
RIP Johnny Brown AKA Bookman
This is one of the videos i was waiting for. Please do a video on The cast of Sanford & Son, The Jeffersons & Different Strokes!!!!
I never understood the Keith character. College grad football injury he ended up in the projects with Thelma. Ain’t no coochie that good for me to move in the projects with a college education. On another note. No way that fool slapping my sister in front of me and my brother IN THE PROJECTS. Lol.
He said all they taught him was to play football that’s why he ain’t have a steady job
😂😂😂😂
Good times is my ALL TIME FAVORITE PERIOD. I know every episode of the entire show
It's Crazy When Esther Rolle Passed Away JJ Didn't Even Go To Her Funeral
That's because he knew she didn't really like him
Jimmie Walker says to this day that they didn’t get along not a huge surprise
@@annebelledockery4487Good Morning Esther Rolle did an interview in the mid 1980's and when she was asked why did she leave the show, she revealed that she left because she didn't like how the producers had fired John Amos and killed his character and she didn't like how they made JJ's character boofonish. She was then asked did she have any issues with Jimmie and her reply was no. I think that Jimmie is a talented actor and talented guy. I didn't like how they made his character on the show boofinish and immature. Jimmie didn't like nor care to know that Esther and John wanted his character to grow and didn't like how the producers wanted to focus on him more than the rest of the cast and he took it personally
"Cooley High" was about Eric Monte portrayed by Glynn Turmen as "Preach". Janet Bubois also portray a school bus driver on, "Everybody Loves Raymond "(Ray Ramona).
Theodore Wilson died two days before the releases of Main Source's debut album Breaking Atoms, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince's 4th album Homebase and Color Me Badd's debut album C.M.B.
Yeah, we've got to give Mr. Lear his props for those groundbreaking, qualitative sitcoms! People always say that JJ made the show, that JJ was the funniest character, but TO ME, John Amos as James Evans MADE the show! It was evident when the character was killed off. The show just never was the same to this Good Times fan. The way Amos/James, the father figure, discipled JJ, Michael, and Thelma, worked hard to support them, and loved "DAMN, DAMN, DAMN," was what I enjoyed the with GT!!! That's just me! And man, was Mr. Amos HILARIOUS, with people in and not in the Evans family!
Johnny brown was truly blessed to lived so long Helen Martin is too. These three were amazing.
Great video!! Keep up the great work. I'm TOTALLY binge watching this soon!!!
This is going to be good 👍
This was awesome thank you bro❤️
RIP Johnny Brown. He just passed 03-02-22.
I love episode of “What’s Happening” where Theodore Wilson played music bootlegger. He enlisted Rerun to record Doobie Brothers live show.😂 too funny.. Mr.Wilson, was excellent actor.. RIP to all of Good Times cast members no longer with us!
Little did we know that episode would be a look into the future with people taking their camera phones to a concert & recording it!!
James Evans was THE BEST T.V Dad
I love her on a episode on "Jamie Fox Show". Where she play a nun and Jamie wanted give a gag gift to "Braxton" for his birthday. But "Aunt Helen" took the wrong gift instead of the real gift to the nun.,.When it was time to give her her gift...it turn out to be a blow up doll.......her classic line " You Was Always My Favorite"..... hilarious episode....,
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I hated Bookman when I use to watch Goodtimes as a kid. He was always hassling the Evans family. Now after this post, and me being more mature, etc. I have new respect for him.
The show was never the same after they killed off the father. It went down quickly and I cried when they said the father was killed.
Bless you🥰✌🏽💐
Eric Monte finally sued and won a very nice settlement. 🙏
Great video once again
Thanks for the memories.
Ty for this video bro I love good times
Yes thank you so much for this one☝🏽I love this channel keep it lit great content rest in peace Johnny Brown #bookman
