Even in my small country in Belarus there are 2.7 millions mosin rifles stored in military bases and storages since they were produced in the middle of 20s century. They are "perish" there. My friend told me to watch this since he knows I own this rifle, and boy am i impressed with it. I knew my baby was tough but good lord this brings a new meaning to tough. I noticed how it was mentioned that it had a lot of recoil or "kicked like a hammer". I never really noticed any overdose of recoil because of it's weight, but all I really use is military loads of FMJ armor piercing rounds so thats probably why. All in all though great video!
Wow. Just wow. I've got a 91/30; it's my favorite of all the guns I've ever owned, and I'd never even get into the same time zone with the stuff you've done -- but it's good to know the rifle will protect me even if I make a pretty ugly loading mistake. FWIW, I found one other thing that will make the bolt stick with service loads: powder fouling from the one round in a few hundred that splits the steel case at the base of the neck. Fire *another* hundred rounds or so, and it'll get to the point it's all you can do to open the bolt with your bare hand. Clean the chamber (a 20 gauge bronze bore brush threaded into a dowel and spun in there does the job), and it's back to smooth sailing. Did I mention I love my 91/30? Did I mention it's also as accurate as the iron sights will permit? Rugged, accurate, and cheap -- what's not to love?

I think you all should def do the video on bore obstructions. A big one would be the person who buys a milsurp rifle such as a Mosin, full of cosmoline and then takes it out and shoots it without cleaning it. My buddy just bought a mosin at a gun show and then went to a range on the way back from the gun show and shot it. Then proceeded to complain about Century "overgreasing" the rifle. Long story short, I called my buddy out on his stupidity and im amazed the barrel didint overpressure and grenade when he shot it. And that he is still alive or not severely hurt. However, the rifle is probably going to be a big PITA to properly clean now because the cosmoline is probably baked in there. He somehow put several hundred rounds through it. And thing is, people are quick to say a rifle is dangerous to shoot just because its old. I disagree. Alot of C&R rifles were made extremely well, especially most of the old Mausers. And the Mosin has been proven in this video. As long as the gun is cleaned, dosen't have excessive rust on the barrel, wasn't excessively used, and you use similar pressure ammo to what the gun was designed for, its not gonna blowup. I would say the biggest reason for old guns blowing up on people is not cleaning them and failure to inspect the barrel for obstructions. Second, would probably be rust or using too hot of ammo for the gun, especially hot reloads. But, I think a lot of these instances, its been a bore obstruction such as grease/cosmoline or dirt and the barrel overpressures and blows up. Because excessive headspace, while dangerous too will usually show warning signs (bulging brass, backed out primers, hard to extract, gases shooting out, etc). And again, just cause a gun is old dosen't mean its worn out and was used alot or made poorly. It could've been assembled, shot 5-10 rounds through it to test it, then put away in cosmoline for 100 years till you buy it. Your essentially buying a new gun in that case. And the only instances I can think of for old guns being made poorly is some of the old Spanish Mausers and the low number Springfield 1903A1's. And both of these were because of poor heat-treating, not poor manufacturing or machining. In addition, older black power guns such as the 1873 Springfield Trapdoor have weaker metal and cannot tolerate full-power modern smokeless rounds. But, do tolerate reduced power "cowboy action" smokeless rounds or modern blackpowder rounds. But, this was just a matter of the gun being designed for lower pressure blackpowder.
Can you make a torture test, similar to the mosin-nagant torture test... But with mauser karabiner 98k? (preferable something in not so good condition) I want to know, which action and rifle is stronger, for extreme loads... mauser, or mosin ?
it's well documented other bolt action rifles bolts would freeze shut after firing, however because of the mosins low tolerance machining they didn't freeze shut in the Russian winters so yes they can
I would like to thank you for your video I just bought the same model of Mosin Nagat and your video showed me what a wonderful rifle it is because before I purchase any firearm I like to go to the experts and find the pros and cons and I am well pleased with the ruggedness of the rifle keep up the good work.
Dangerous Daedric I know right. Think of the men this gun has killed. I bought a mosin for like 175 dollars total after tax and it has such a smooth bolt and the damn thing is dead accurate and I love it
Drew Vasquez Any Russian gun you can think of I guarantee it was out performed by its American or European counterparts, and that there was some sort of soviet propaganda saying otherwise.
GOD DAMN!!!!! I mean, I know the russians were prone to sturdy rifles, but this is just insane. How the hell could a WWII Nagant hold up to that kind of pressure. You guys cease to amaze me.
the creek test reminded me of something i heard from a Vietnam vet, who talked about creative ways to clean M16's. they actually did clean their M16's in creeks. they removed the bolt, and doused their barrels and gas tubes in the creek, and when they got out, oiled the carrier group, and they were good to go.
it may be actually interesting, but in ww1 and russian civil war, english .303 was allowed to be fired from the mosin in case there was no alternative. .303 bullet is largely identical (while this 30-30 is actually 0.1 mm smaller in diameter), but the case of .303 is noticeably narrower and its neck is longer (shoulders are 3mm closer to the rim). Yet it was safe to fire, fired reliably, althoug the case deformed severely often causing extraction problems. Additionally, the cartridge did not always fed from the magazine reliably. Later they even developed a field used press that reshaped .303 cases (with bullets and powder!) to match 7.62*54R profile closer.
Sure there were millions of the MN made but I don't like seeing a little bit of history destroyed. Furthermore, it's a beautiful piece a machinery, what is a terrible waste.
Awesome demo guys! I'm wondering though... Say you had another bolt as a backup, figuring the damage to the first one after the Range Trash test, if you'd thrown that in, would the gun still be usable and accurate?
Randy Do You realise the nukes are really a last resort. Nothing more then who's got the biggest dick competition, and no government is stupid enough to launch them..... except for North Korea of course, but they are just mad because no one takes them seriously due to the fact they haven't even got long range missiles.
jason1182000 The AK-104 carbine is an incredible assault rifle and is far superior over the M4 carbine, seeing as how its 67 year old cousin, the AK-47, is just as reliable as the M4, not to mention it fires a round with more power. The FN SCARs, however, show promise in surpassing the AK-104 in quality.

what was the process you used to free the bolt in part one issue? not what it is called, but what you did? sounded pretty cool and technical. Wow random range powder, at least now I don't need to be scared the thing will blow up in my face if everything is in spec. Cool video guys!!

Dangerous Daedric Are you not old enough to buy a mosin??
MMBNMalternateaccoun I am but cant find a good one at a decent price..
That made me cry. :""(""'... but it was cool.

Definitely makes me want a Mosin more! great vid!
Did you delete your reloading videos for the 76 2 x 54 R?
y u do dis....
am cry...
awww, poor mosin ....she did sereved well!
You've killed the gun.
I dunno... I think if they throw another bolt in there, the gun might still fire straight and reliably. Not bad for Russian tech.

Ummm... What Russian gun hasn't been top of its class? Also, the gun was made by a Russian and a belgian-russian expat
Drew Vasquez
Any Russian gun you can think of I guarantee it was out performed by its American or European counterparts, and that there was some sort of soviet propaganda saying otherwise.
wikieditspam how about you tell of these guns?
This was a great video. I could watch this all day.
GOD DAMN!!!!! I mean, I know the russians were prone to sturdy rifles, but this is just insane. How the hell could a WWII Nagant hold up to that kind of pressure. You guys cease to amaze me.
thats.... not mud
7:14 weve been doing some nasty things with this russian girl....

KGB, OPENING UP!!!!!!!
Yes. In Soviet Russia, you don’t open up for KGB. KGB OPENS UP ON YOU!!!!

the creek test reminded me of something i heard from a Vietnam vet, who talked about creative ways to clean M16's. they actually did clean their M16's in creeks. they removed the bolt, and doused their barrels and gas tubes in the creek, and when they got out, oiled the carrier group, and they were good to go.
it may be actually interesting, but in ww1 and russian civil war, english .303 was allowed to be fired from the mosin in case there was no alternative. .303 bullet is largely identical (while this 30-30 is actually 0.1 mm smaller in diameter), but the case of .303 is noticeably narrower and its neck is longer (shoulders are 3mm closer to the rim).
+Сергей Соколов shit, i made a comment to the wrong video( i ment the video on firing 30-30 from mosin
+Сергей Соколов Still very interesting info, спс
Sure there were millions of the MN made but I don't like seeing a little bit of history destroyed. Furthermore, it's a beautiful piece a machinery, what is a terrible waste.
Max Roman it’s was a rebuilt gun stupid
berry is awesome
ломать не строить
Awesome demo guys! I'm wondering though... Say you had another bolt as a backup, figuring the damage to the first one after the Range Trash test, if you'd thrown that in, would the gun still be usable and accurate?
"We dun took it down the crick..." subscribed for how awesome that man is.
That why Russia won the ww2
Randy Do You realise the nukes are really a last resort. Nothing more then who's got the biggest dick competition, and no government is stupid enough to launch them..... except for North Korea of course, but they are just mad because no one takes them seriously due to the fact they haven't even got long range missiles.
Also the AK-12 sucks
Обзор игр и Другое The AK-12? The carbine rifle that even Russian soldiers don't like to use? Try again.
Обзор игр и Другое Не знаю, но мне почему то стыдно за тебя...

The AK-104 carbine is an incredible assault rifle and is far superior over the M4 carbine, seeing as how its 67 year old cousin, the AK-47, is just as reliable as the M4, not to mention it fires a round with more power.
The FN SCARs, however, show promise in surpassing the AK-104 in quality.
Silly American. Glorious Mosin real gun, for REAL men. Mosin tough, unlike tiny AR15.
when russians see that video, they crying...
***** fucking communist

what was the process you used to free the bolt in part one issue? not what it is called, but what you did? sounded pretty cool and technical. Wow random range powder, at least now I don't need to be scared the thing will blow up in my face if everything is in spec. Cool video guys!!
As much as i really enjoy all of you guys, it breaks my heart to see a good rifle being mistreated like that, i have an M44 and 91/30 and i love mine to death , what a great rifle they made.
Hello! It's a greatful tests (i mean this Mosin one & AK 47), but whats up with your filming production??? Audio production means like sound recordist isn't there!!!
This video is the reason my mom allows me to reload my own ammo until i move out thanks you guys.
I Love how they give us history and facts in their videos.
I've enjoyed this MN test, man. I especially liked the bayonet charge! I'm a proud MN owner.
"Me and Barry have been doing some pretty nasty things to this little Russian girl". LMFAO!!!!
Built like a tank!! I actually felt bad for it after a while. I own a 91/30, M44 and a 91/30 sniper and love all three!!
After watching this series I am no longer worried about hurting my Mosin I just bought today.
When Barry is looking at the gun broken on the table he seems almost sad about it. It is a beautiful gun
Did Berry put the microphone in his beard?
I have to tun the volume down when he speaks and up when Eric speaks.
This video has convinced me to go ahead and purchase the rifle. Tomorrow I will be a proud owner of a Mosin-Nagant. A fellow Iraq war veteran thanks you for your service and your knowledge.
This hurts so bad. It's like putting a classic car through a torture test.
Lol, these are hilarious! Seems like you guys are really have fun. Keep up the great work and thx for the vid.
just out of curiosity : when did you serve in iraq? mos?
Just picked up an M44 a couple weeks ago. Can't wait to take it out and shoot. Not like you guys did, of course. But just at the range with Mil Surp ammo.
"They made this gun when men were men, and women were too" ohh barry hahahahaha
