I love how the Chinese dubs are speaking in ancient/palace Chinese language. Which is much harder than modern Chinese. So tempted to buy just to play in Chinese.
I think both the Chinese and English versions sound really good for this game. Props to all the voice actors in both languages for their performances. As someone who finds it hard to focus playing video games while reading subtitles at the same time, I'll likely play it in English first if I ever get the game, and then play again in Chinese after completing it.
Those are western journalists propaganda, don't know what diversity they were talking about. For them, every movies, games always have to put white or black characters or faces in it. And Hello.... Wu Kong is a mythology from China and Asia, certainly are characters are Chinese and Asian... One of the female(?) character’s motion capture actress is a Muslim Uighur beauty from Xin Jiang. This is going to make IGN journalists’ brain explode. Either that or to dream up a fake news of lies about forced prison labour in Xin Jiang being used to make the game.
I am glad that people give credit to the original Chinese voice actors and actresses, instead of only giving credit to the English voice actors and actresses like those only English dub fans who only think English is the only language exists

After hearing Erlangs voice I immediatly regocnised the voice as Ye Qiu from the The King's Avatar animation and instantly knew I will get my ass kicked when encountering him the next time.

Such amazing voice acting by all. I think the English Erlang VA is my favorite. Crazy that the western media put the game down before even witnessing all this effort by all kinds of people that was put into the game.
That line delivery for Yellowbrow by Ramon Tikaram gave me chills it might be my favorite line in the whole game. Also funny that Godrick commands you to kneel as well lol.
As a Chinese, I unexpectedly felt that the English dubbing was also very good, very good. However, many of the Chinese subtitles of this game are very difficult to translate and explain in English, and the English translation is not good and should be understood, and it is indeed very difficult to translate in multiple languages
Even though i had to follow the subtitles...playing yhe game with the chinese dub gave it some kind of special feeling. Dont get me wrong the english dub its quiet special but the chinese dialogue just makes the game that more special.

As a Chinese, I preferred the Chinese version. It seems more dramatic and appropriate. As I tried to understand why, I think it comes down to the phrasing. The English isn't as good to me because it doesn't have the same way of phrasing. It lacks the Chinese feeling. I think the Chinese phrasing follows the Chinese opera tradition. Then I wondered, what if the English used the Chinese way of phrasing. (Like how the British voice actors followed the Japanese phrasing in the 1978 show Monkey.) Best I can think of is it would sound like William Shatner 😅😅 Which isn't necessarily bad, BTW. If you re-watch this video with William Shatner in mind, you'll see what I mean !! 😅😅

The English VA are pretty good overall, which is pleasant to see. My only gripe is that Wukong's English actor just isn't able to get that playful theatrical voice right, but that's not on him, this type of tone just doesn't exist in English. I wish they went with a more traditional protagonist voice for English at least.
Jack Ayres as English Zhu Bajie did a fantastic job. I hope we see 4th sister again in the DLC or the sequel since the story is literally just beginning.

However, if you're looking for voice and lip sync, new innovative AI is just around the corner to fix that, and I agree wholeheartedly that both voice actors did very well for their parts.

My problem is that it breaks my immersion when the character has their mouth closed while you hear the voice that is supposedly coming from them. That just doesn't work for me. I don't like Erlang's English voice. I think Steven Pacey is real good. And all the Chinese voice actors are really good. I don't really like Wukong's English voice either. He sounds like an evil person which he's not.
english wukong sounds evil at first, but in retrospect it wasnt bad at all, and the most refined for the role to me... the monsters in the english version draw from western high fantasy sounds, which is understandable but also less refined for the game. practically the difference to me is just that the english wukong was less jester like, less monkey like, but it sounds like it tried to be faithful to the chinese wukong.

What make Wukong special is despite he look super badass has a high pitch and screechy annoying voice like that of a monkey. That is Wukong, that is his voice and it iconic af, anything else other than that is straight up false.
