Fantastic overview video. Thanks for showing all the differences. I really like pencil but after seeing your demonstration of ink, I'm seriously thinking I want to try that now.
Thank you, Teoh, for some one who is new to using inks as well as paint pens, this was very helpful. Teoh you should open an art store, with your wealth of art and art products it would be very successful.
Hey, Teoh!! For white, I've started using Dr Ph Martin's Bleed Proof White, great product and covers oops very well!! Nice thing about the product is it does exactly what it claims and is very thick so you can dilute it to desired consistency and even mix it with colors for a bleed proof application with a brush. NOTE: Keep it on a high shelf, don't let Tiffany get her hands on it, toxic. GREAT VIDEO!!
Wonderful video. I just got my set of gray Copic markers today. And I have many of these supplies on hand (plus charcoal and chalk, which I love as well). Thanks for inspiring me to play with all of them!
Thank you, Teoh - a lot covered in a short space of time. :-) Can I put in a word for ballpoint pens though? Not fashionable, but more versatile and cheaper than fineliners. Also clutch pencils (lead holders in the US, I think), because they'd be 100% environmentally friendly if only the leads didn't come in a plastic box. The first reputable manufacturer to go back to cardboard tubes gets my custom!
Teoh you have yourself used rotring ink to fill up the pentel brush pens in one of your previous videos. I have started doing the same after watching your video and it works just fine..
Thank you for the very helpful, informative video. I always check your channel for recommendations and/or reviews before making most purchases :P You're the best, Teoh!
@@nolan7800 Hematite Gen gives a black sparse granulation. I've used it over Buff Titanium and Hansa Yellow colors, it creates lovely texture and shadows. Use it as a second wash.
One very underrated technique is to use a magnet to manipulate the lunar black while it's on the paper! In fact, if you make mud with it, you can just pull out the magnetic particles and have a clear mixture again!
Considering the lack of granulation, would you recommend Winsor & Newton for a jet black background? I'm looking for a brand to test. Other than that I quite like the Rotring brush pen
Another informative video. Thank you so much. I do have a question about noodler’s ink, however. Some people swear by it as you do in this video but I’ve also heard people say to avoid it. I haven’t used it myself so I guess my question is why you recommend it.Again thank you for your videos.
thanks for sharing, as always very instructive! I too use a wet brush straight on a graphite watersoluble stick - I've found it very convenient; I use the LYRA brand and it's dark and easy to load - I'd say more akin to graphite powder than to the graphite stick you demonstrated in the video! I refill my brushpen with rotring but I was hoping for even better flow - any alternatives? I don't care for it being waterproof
I am not teoh but i hqve heard not to use rotring ink in a fountain pen as it is a little thicker and may clog it. So if u don't care and want more flow try fountain pen ink
thanks @@goldengun9970! Yes rotring ink does cause clogging eventually - thought my brushpen hasn't clogged yet (and I leave it for months unused)! When I run out of my rotring, I'll start testing fountainpen inks! - I've heard those too might cause clogging, but when the time comes I'll look into it again!
I have used Noodler's Black for years. You can use it in fountain pens. When you open the bottle, be very careful. The man who produces the ink fills the bottle to the very top! Don't spill!
I'm curious if anyone has tried the De Artimentes white document ink? As much as I love my little signo gel pen I would love to be able to load a fountain pen up with white ink. I'll probably order a sample, but was wondering if anyone had experience with it.
Interesting vid. Only thing, I am in a self imposed art supply ban. Not allowed to buy any more, with the possible exeption of artist grade watercolor..... (I have quite a collection, especially black and white mediiums). Well maaaybe a fountainpen that takes waterfast ink....

I've done a lot of drawing, but many of these items are new to me. Thank you for this very informative video!
Teoh you make such great videos I always walk away learning something new
I really enjoyed this video on using supplies for black & white sketching and painting techniques, it covers a lot, always inspired by your channel.
Wow, those Art Graf products are awesome. Will definitely be picking those up.

Yes! How not to go insane because you need to get ALL the colors! YESSSSS
great video! i've been intimidated by ink so far but i am more inclined to give it a shot now.. thank you! ^_^
When purchasing art supplies, also good idea to think about where the item/container etc. will end up. We need to reduce plastics.
Very informative! Thx Teoh!
Great intro and info! Thanks!
Thank you for this, very informative!
Very informative and your sketches are so cute 😊
Awesome!!!!
Lunar black is one of my favorite ds colors to mix with bright colors, to make granular yellows, reds, greens, etc.
DS Hematite is also very cool for that purpose!
Never thought about that. Sounds like it would grey down the colors a lot though..

There is no link to skillshare in the description!
Yes, I don't see the link to the class.
Sorry, just added www.skillshare.com/r/profile/Teoh-Yi-Chie/599814696

YES is right, back to black and white (or brown and white, as I prefer) cheap and environmentally friendly.
Is the nero pencil erasable also? I like how much darker the lines are with it.

Noodlers is worth the money. But you have to test it before using it to create art. The waterproof quality may depend on paper.
Thanks

Hi Teoh! What do you think about Schminke Aqua drop liner with liquid watercolour paint or fountain pen ink?
No mention of charcoal? The traditional medium for tonal sketches.
Teoh, if using the Pentel brushpen for drawing, what's the minimum paper gsm so that the ink doesn't bleed through the paper that much?
Anything 100gsm above should be alright
One question a little bit out of context, what graphic tab do u think is better Gaomon M10K Pro or Artisul M0610Pro??? can u help me?
what can I use to dilute rotring ink? To make it gray
Just add water. But some black inks may dilute to cool or warm gray instead of just gray. So you have to test which inks dilute to the colour you want
@@teohyc thanksss u're the bessst 🙏🏼

Cretacolor graphite too soft, Koh-i-noor can not be smudged so easy.
