    Some years has past until people learned how tough those Y62 are. The introduction was like: no frame, no axles, no engine and ugly. Now we know everything was a lie.... Thank You Ronny Dahl and David from DASH OFF-ROAD

    Fantastic Review and Danial seems like a really nice fella.
    Created his own thing, not just a bunch of off the shelf bolt ons.
    I know the fuel economy is poor, but add the price of diesel servicing and it brings it back a few notches, plus they took $20K off the sale price a few years ago, so if you add that, you are probably in front.
    However, range is a real problem for outback travel

    good honest DIY build, well done. looks pretty deluxe inside! And the rear table is very clever.

    flat racks are good! i dont live in the sticks so i need to be aware of carpark heights. fully caged or not you have to tie your load down anyway

    • @BFD15i
      @BFD15i 5 лет назад

      If you load something on your rack, the extra height of a caged rack doesn't come into play anymore. Anything you store up there is higher than the side rails of the rack.

    Well thought out rig but it must be well over weight. That roof rack can only hold 109kg. You got 80kg of fuel and 50kg wheel, full cargo box, max tracks, solar panel, 22kg Awening and a shovel.
    No mention of a GVM upgrade either especially with 3 extra AGM batteries. Our Y62 stock with me and my 7 year old in it is at 3 tonn let alone with 200kg on the roof and at least another 200-300kg in the back and bull bar and winch with your family of 5 in there you'd be close to 4t if not over and your GVM is 3500kg.
    Probably should mention this to people that this is not legal and you have no insurance or warrenty.
    Should be a segment on "This is what you SHOULDN'T do"
    Extremely important. Look at your weights first you will easily run put of weight capacity before running out of space.

    • @danielchiodo6594
      @danielchiodo6594 2 года назад

      Exactly what I was thinking- it appears to be at or over GVM, even before you add the ball weight of the 3T caravan…

    Nissan could sell thousands of these things if they were to just put the Cummins 5L diesel that they use in the Nissan Titan. Another example of a global car company not seeing value in giving Australian customers what they want because of our "tiny" market share. Look after your 70's boys, won't be long before there is nothing new on the market to replace them with (from any brand).

    Shame didn't do the snorkel well, but there is no need to change the airbox when you do a custom snorkel. the factory airbox is awesome. ANd for the Q & A.. If you want to know everything about the Y62 the best resource is the Aussie Patrol Y62 FB group. You will find rigs fully decked out for offroad, touring and towing.
