  • Hi guys, how are you doing lately? I'm a little busy with my work and I don't have the time to start a new project. so I decide to update this video and fix some mistakes before I move on to next one.
    Ivan Lendl's nationality is fixed in this version. He played for Czechoslovakia until 1992 when he became an US citizen.
    I couldn't update women's version due to the bug on the WTA website. The date widget won't allow me to choose a date other than today's date. I hope they can address this issue soon.

    It's freaking insane to watch promising and indeed successful players like Murray, Roddick, and Wawrinka rise and fall all while Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic just keep resurging over and over again. In 2016, it looked like Federer and Nadal may be on the way out due to the wear and tear. One year later, they split the four slams. Then in 2017, it looks like Djokovic might be degrading, one year later he's winning slams again. Meanwhile, multiple guys who entered around the same time as Nadal and Federer's dominant rise and battled them early on like Roddick are *retired*.

It was the most competitive era of tennis and yet he still continued to be at the top at the beginning of 1990. It's a reflection of his consistency and longevity at the top. He had to contend with Borg, Connors, Mcnroe, Becker, Edberg, Wilander and yet he managed to win 8 grandslams, 5 year end masters world championships, reach 19 slam finals is a tribute to his grit, persistence and hard work.

  • @juffan
    @juffan 4 года назад +6

    So the 90's started with a nice three-way rivalry between Edberg, Becker, and Lendl. Eventually giving way to Courier who had a nice stretch. Then the rest of the decade was dominated by Sampras with a rotating cast of competition. Most notably Agassi and Rafter. The noughts started with a good mix at the top, with Safin, Kuerten, Ferraro, Agassi, Hewitt, and Roddick all competing. Then in 2004, the Golden Age of Tennis began. Federer becomes #1 and dominates. Roddick is the next closest but he loses pretty much every time. A couple years later Nadal enters the scene and becomes Federer's only real competition. By 2008, Djokovic and Murray arrive and help form the Big Four. The next 9 years the Big Four dominate tennis like has never been seen before (shout-out to Wawrinka for being one of the few contenders). Murray slowly drops off due to injury problems (perhaps still the 4th best player of all-time), and the Big Four becomes the Big Three. And since 2017, the Big Three continue to dominate. For the last 16 years, one of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, and Murray has been the world number one. In a sport that traditionally players are only in their prime for 3-5 years. How much longer can they keep this up? Who will be the next star of tennis? Zverev? Tsitsipas? Shapovalov? Auger-Aliassime? Medvedev? Rublev? Sinner? I would say in the next year or two we can expect a new number one, but I've learned to never count out Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal.
    Before it's all done, I hope Federer wins another Grand Slam and takes back the world #1 for one last stint. I hope Nadal and Djokovic both reach 20 Grand Slam Championships. And I hope Murray is able to come back from injury for one last miracle run and win one more Grand Slam (or both the Aussie and French Open to get the Career Slam).

      Sampras era would've been much nicer if he had a true rival. Everyone wanted it to be Agassi, but let's be real, if it mattered Pete always won. This current BIG3 only exists because of each other. If there was no Nadal or Djokovic, I truly believe Federer would've retired a few years ago, he would simply have become bored. Now they are pushing each other to heights never seen before.

    I like seeing Dominic Thiem be consistent top ten since 2016 and then Zverev hopping up into 3rd like over night. The 2019 season was a troublesome season for Zverev as hes now ranked 7th, and the 2020 season has not given them many chances to progress higher. But Domis US Open win is HUGE! 3rd in the world since the Aussie open of 2020, also another HUGE feat for Domi. Both are the real deal, next number 1 and 2 in the world.

Just think about it… out of the last 10 grand slams he won six of them… and keep in mind wimbledon was cancelled and i. Us open he was dq. Most weeks in no1 in history is the actual metric of one’s dominance in the entire tour. Not just majors. Djokovic will break all records even most slams. It is inevitable. But he already is goat.
