54 different players in the 90s
59 in the 00s
42 in the 10s!
makes sense, the top 4 spots were hoarded by the same players for the entirety of the 2010s
@@lotus630 But the rest of them were crap.
Plus hasn't the average age of Top 10 players gone up considerably in the 2010s? Those slow neutral hardcourts outdoors and indoors eh?......
I love the differences between tennis rackets before and now.
Edberg lendl and Becker are my fav trio of rivals. I’ve always preferred edberg and thought he was technically the best volleyer of all time. Becker had insane power and flashy play. Lendl was an ice cold technician and had one of the biggest forehands ever, even when he opted not to use the new rackets that allowed much more margin for error. The 80’s and 90’s were so polarizing in tennis. It had the “bad boys” of tennis and they didn’t just say rude things for no reason and throw tantrums randomly like today’s “bad boys” do. And the talent was exceptional, many people fighting for the titles instead of just 3. That speaks to the big 3’s dominance more than anything but as a viewer the 80’s and 90’s were more exciting to me
You nailed it with Edberg, the smoothest and most eager volleyer of all time. When the serve left his racquet he was already halfway through the court on his way up. 🙂
80s and 90s tennis was soooo beautiful in any regard, so many different styles of shot selections, so many different players with different playing styles and characters, today - well, I love Federer and Thiem but all play the same like roboters
We miss GUGA so much here in Brazil :(
What a great effort... Nice video! Tks
Marcelo Rios!!!
Great video of the greatest era.
So many one handed backhands.
Finally been wanting this video for a while. Thanks Tennis tv!
Why are so many of these guys playing their best point against Jim Courier? 😂
And against Kafelnikov too ! Jaja
So many great players in the '90s.
This time period was competitive, Many players featured here won Grand Slams. The reason Federer dominated the mid 2000's: most players that we're top 10 in the late 90's were already retired or on the verge of doing it by 2004 (injuries and also motivation/mind struggles). Therefore Federer compited only with his generation and the lesser players from the 90's.
Moya and Haas were soooo good !
Berasategui is still the most enigmatic of them all
His aberration of a backhand was really something! 😀
Has anyone heard of the "Spot The ball" competition in England for the old football pools? Where's the ball? 02:58
15:44 Marcelo "Chino" Rios
Sometimes I feel Federer was so good because he was straight out of the 90s play style. Also doesnt make a huge grunt so the game doesn't sound like a torture chamber.
All those tiny shorts :D
Kiefer was really the most fairplay :)))
USA had so many great players: Courier, Sampras, Agassi, Berger, Chang. What went wrong then?
Well sampras won 14 gs and agasi 8.
US players have evolved to be too reliant on big serves and big forehands only
and tend to have poor backhands, footwork, and net play
modern courts can't be dominated with just serve and forehand anymore
@@lotus630 A lot of talented American players don't even go pro as well. Playing college tennis is a lot safer financially than grinding it out on tour for years
All of them were the first at whatever they did. That's why they were great
Most of theses guys don’t have a single Grand Slam. They must be pretty damn good to in top 10 back when Pistol Pete ruled
Connors, show Connors in this channel!
💜♥️♥️❤️❤️🖤💙
The best era of tennis by far.
It's shameful what happened to our sport in terms of quality (apart from the Big 3), we have no new great talents since 2010...
You’re just biased towards the players you grew up with lol
@@regularmouse4230 Federer winning more comfortably his matches at 35 than at 25 proves this, as well when he reaches the quarterfinals of Wimbledon at 38 and by playing in one leg practically.
Nadal winning RG in straight sets at 31, reaching the semifinals this year in one foot.
Djokovic winning 8 slams past his 30s, even winning the first three in a row at 34 which he couldn't manage to do it at 25...
Players like Zverev being N3 and yet hasn't defeated a single Top 10 in Slams, Tsitsipas losing a 2-0 lead in RG final, Aliassime being Top 10 without winning a single title...
I can go on forever.
@@masters.1000 there are many examples every year
Zverev won Olympics
McEnroe lost after being 2-0 ahead in RG finals
Djokovic played his best match at Rg in his own words
Djokovic was wno.3 in the world in 07 with just 1 GS semifinal
Who were wno.3 before him
There is no point comparing this that all of them are super athletes
@@tanmaywadhwa211 McEnroe lost to 24yo Lendl and in a very close match... 23yo Tsitsipas got demolished by 34yo Novak.
There's no comparison.
@@masters.1000 'demolished'
bring back short shorts!
Sampras forever
Looks like more players of the eighties!
Marcelo "chino" Rios not is good , is god ❤
старая гвардия)
And every player had his own style and technique. Today, they are playing all the same monoton brainless style.
