@@el.bihtador6159 People really get into too much criticism in order to appear 'cool' (as saying Metallica is trash is 'cool' nowadays) but they don't realise the catalogue of songs that Metallica holds is so diverse and so beautiful that each of their albums has atleast a few things that are way unique in that era. Metallica never feared to follow their hearts instead of sticking to a genre they did what they wanted and its this era where Load and Reload are appreciated so much but they were criticised beyond limits by the 'thrash fans'

    • @joelmartin3247
      @joelmartin3247 6 лет назад +5

It was intentionally raw. That's what they were going for. It worked better there than St Anger. Having said that, rerecordings for the vocals with a bit more energy, slightly less 'justice meets st anger but in a less horrible way than that sounds, but is still not that great' drums, and turned down distortion (clean guitar and bass sounded nice), maybe slightly louder bass... The point is, it could've been better. Still good compositions and good songs.

Why didn't they shoot a music video for this song, I will never understand. It has almost cinematographic lyrics which would be perfect for a classy video. If they did a song trilogy for Unforgiven then they should've done a video trilogy for it, as well to complete the circle. Such an underrated and orphaned song.

    "The Unforgiven III"
How could he know this new dawn's light
    Would change his life forever?
Set sail to sea but pulled off course
By the light of golden treasure
Was he the one causing pain
    With his careless dreaming?
    Been afraid, always afraid
    Of the things he's feeling
    He could just be gone
    He would just sail on
    He'll just sail on
    How can I be lost
If I've got nowhere to go?
    Search for seas of gold
How come it's got so cold?
    How can I be lost
    In remembrance I relive
And how can I blame you
    When it's me I can't forgive?
These days drift on inside a fog
    It's thick and suffocating
This seeking life outside its hell
    Inside intoxicating
He's run aground like his life
    Water much too shallow
Slipping fast down with his ship
    Fading in the shadows now
    A castaway
    They've all gone away
    They've gone away
    How can I be lost
If I've got nowhere to go?
    Search for seas of gold
How come it's got so cold?
    How can I be lost
    In remembrance I relive
And how can I blame you
    When it's me I can't forgive?
    Forgive me, forgive me not
    Forgive me, forgive me not
    Forgive me, forgive me not
    Forgive me, forgive me
    Why can't I forgive me?
Set sail to sea but pulled off course
By the light of golden treasure
How could he know this new dawn's light
    Would change his life forever
    How can I be lost
If I've got nowhere to go?
    Search for seas of gold

This is one of the best songs on Death Magnetic, and probably the best of the Unforgiven trilogy! It has so much power and emotion (particularly with the intro omitted from this video). I was 14 back in 2008; I was just discovering Metallica and while the classics like Sandman, Puppets and One played their undeniable part in making me a fan, Death Magnetic was fundamental to my journey of discovery. This song, in particular, blew me away; the orchestral intro, the riff, the lyrics and that mind-blowing bridge and solo. I had never heard anything like it before and the moment I did, it elevated my opinion from 'Wow, Metallica is a great band' to 'Holy shit, this is the greatest band on the planet.'

That is my absolute favorite song ever recorded by any band! Has gotten me through some of the toughest times in my life. My grandfather passed in a car accident a few weeks ago and at first that was the only song that made me feel ok. For me, it's literally one of those songs that takes the pain away. When it's on the world disappears and nothing else matters (no pun intended). Would be so amazing to hear it live one more time. A true masterpiece on a terribly misunderstood and very deep album. No matter what anyone says, St. Anger is a truly amazing record and The Unnamed Feeling is a true hidden gem in their catalogue.

How could he know this new dawn's light
    Would change his life forever?
Set sail to sea but pulled off course
By the light of golden treasure
Was he the one causing pain
    With his careless dreaming?

    Always afraid

    He could just be gone

    Water's much too shallow
    Slipping fast
    Down with the ship
    Fading in the shadows now
    A castaway

    Away
    Blame gone away

Most underrated Metallica song ever, probably (or Mama Said). Love this song! The bridge that builds up to that awesome solo!

I've listened to Metallica since I was 7 years old. They are STILL one of my top 3 bands. AC/DC and Ozzy are the others.🤘
