Mornin’ Willie, That Shakespeare 2062 is a beauty! I’m a sucker for the dark red/burgundy/maroon colored reels. Picked up a Ted Williams 550 (which is a sears branded Diawa Millionaire) quite a few years ago and it has that beautiful, worn from use patina that it seems that only that shade picks up and catches my eye. Definitely adding the 2062 to my BOLO list. The Lido 400 stirred some memories this morning as well! Spent some time on the gulf coast of Florida in my misspent youth down around Sarasota. Did a lot of fishing around a beautiful place called Lido Key. Good memories and good times were had there! As always, I am grateful for the entertainment and the trip down memory lane. May the coffee be hot and flow freely and work be slow and easy. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! -Allan
@@ABurdenOutdoors G’mornin Allan, The 2062 turn out a lot better than I expected.. I wish I had videoed it but I’ve already done a 2062 episode, so I just sat down at the table and did that one for myself as well as the Zebco and Shakespeare 1775.. Now I have two 2062 models. I had a beautiful 2052 but I traded it to a friend for a gorgeous Johnson model 80 sidewinder, that I later dropped off my golf cart and scratched up😄. Sooner or later I’ll find another 2052. Shakespeare loved the burgundy/red color.. so many reels were painted in it and I agree, burgundy and chrome look great together.. I have a Ted Williams 340 combo that was given to me by a friend that’s in the burgundy/gold color scheme made for Sears but built by Shakespeare.. I’m glad the “LIDO 400” brought back some good memories.. Hopefully I’ll create some new ones with it when I get the chance to use it.. Sadly, I called my parts guy and he doesn’t have nor can he get the the line stopper for the rotor so I may have to figure out how to make one or find someone similar that’ll fit from another reel. But I’ll fix it.. Thanks so much for watching my friend. May the left over turkey make great sandwiches And the gravy flow freely over your mashed potatoes!! Thanks for watching!! Happy Thanksgiving!!🦃 Willie
@@jeremyroberts6690 Good reels!! I love the old Shakespeares.. I get excited every-time I find one on the shelf.. I pick them up the same way I pick up Johnson reels.. it an addiction..🤪
Now this kinda' reel is more our style, but this one was a tough to take apart and service! Didn't those Daiwa logos inside surprise us all? Hope you don't have difficulty locating a line stop, but of course, by the time we saw the video you had probably already been in contact with Matt's Reel Service. Hope you had some luck there! And it's too bad the paint got messed up on that top piece that holds on the button retaining screw, but like you say it's a user, not a looker and I'm willing to bet it's gonna catch some nice crappie. Oh, I usually have Miss Sophia help me remove the old line on our reels. I think I will get her one of those tools that you showed off to make it quicker and easier for her. I noticed that it's made by Berkley but what is it called and where did you pick it up so that I can order one? Thanks. And now, we're waiting for the next one, whatever . . . . . . : )
Howdy Harry🤠, The Daiwa logo definitely surprises me but I knew it was Japanese the second I saw it. You’re right, I’ve already called Mat and unfortunately he has nothing for that reel.. it’s kinda obscure. I’ll just have to fabricate something. Not a problem, just a set back..lol I’ve already sent the info on the line stripper. 😉 Dan sent me that a couple years ago, after seeing me struggle in a video. He’s a smart man.. Hope you and Miss Sophia are having a wonderful Thanksgiving!! Willie
Hi Willie I've seen similar reels on eBay under different brands One is a crown planet 11 Roddy 707b as well Very similar And I think one under the brand of omega I'm sure they were all made by Daiwa as trade reels I love the old Japanese spincast reels So much variety and uniqueness Much more than US made reels of the time
@@lionsfan80 Hey there🤠, Occasionally I’m startled by something unexpected with the vintage reels, like this LIDO 400, but 90% of the time I see what the market was flooded with like Zebco and Mitchell. The cap is usually a dead giveaway for a Japanese made reel.. I told the gentleman at the antique store where I bought it that I knew just buy looking at it on the rod, it was made in Japan little did I know when I got it apart, it would be a Daiwa..
