    I bought one 2 weeks ago of Amazon for £180.. I bought it to replace my Garmin xt and I love it.. so simple to use and connects straight away,unlike my Garmin did.. one thing to note is that the usb on my gsa is only 2amp and it needs 5amp to use the usb port..

      Glad you're enjoying yours so far, ah good to know about the amp issue, I'll just connect it to the thunder box and be done with it then. Thanks for the heads up.

    I am still trying to work out why you would want something like this, especially if you have COMM's and a phone mount. It is just big and the price v quality is not going to help this, probably down to £69.99 in a few months. But the Thunder Box looks like a great product! Another great honest review though, keep them coming, really appreciate your honesty on products.

      Thanks mate, I try my best :). Ill be installing the thunder box soon to help with these other products ive been sent, so il film the install and see what I think of it.

    Absolutely works fine thunderbox & CHIGEE I m surprised how effective the BSD is. The install is as easy as it is to take fairings off . I would be careful about siting the cameras as originally front fender position meant my Multistrada beak would hit the camera on hard braking I also recommend adding superglue as the 3M tape didn’t hold esp at speeds of 69mph

      Thanks for the heads up. Luckily my GSA has a headlight protector on it which has a go pro style mount fixed to it on one side and a flat surfaced area on the other side. So it’s slightly offset and has a decent place for me to mount it. 🤙🤙

    I have heard a few comments that the light weight is an issue, however a sturdy lightweight construction is ideal as it is less affected by vibration with less mass to gain kinetic energy that hten needs to be negated.

      Only time will tell, the 7” is a big boy to have on top of your TFT screen as well. Personally i think i would opt for the smaller 5”, but i will compare this 7” with another 5” i have very soon.

  • @stuartcox4739
    @stuartcox4739 5 месяцев назад +1

    I would consider one of these units BUT the problem with using a navigation app through appleplay/android auto is it drains your phone battery and your phone can get quite hot, which means you have to take it out of your pocket to put it on charge , which kind of defeats the object

      Agreed mate. Pros and cons to which ever way you choose to have navigation on your bike.

      @DSR1YT  5 месяцев назад +1

      Me too. Specially after I had to cut into my gsa wiring to mount the Vantrue dashcam kit.
      Not doing that again hence why I found this work around.
      Will be fitting it soon so I’ll film that as well. 🤙

    Good honest reviews Matt.👍. Interested to know your thoughts, on all the Car Play/Android Auto products youv'e reviewed/tested, AutoABC, Chigee, Carpuride, etc., if you were like most of out here looking at getting one, which would you buy for yourself considering price, ease of use, build quality and the main sticking point which appears to be removing from the bike when you park up somewhere.
    Apologies for putting you on the spot, but reviewing and buying are different things.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  4 месяца назад +1

      Hi Steve. Glad you enjoyed the video.
      Now your just stealing and early peak in to a future video aren’t you 😁.
      If I specifically wanted a CarPlay device, it would then come down to A) do I want just the screen for maps or B) do I want all the fancy bits on top. (Does my bike have TPMS already, does it have blind spot detection, do I have a Bluetooth headset I can answer calls and skip songs on.
      That’s where the CHIGEE comes in and ticks all the boxes of an older bike / bike with less tech. I’ve actually just filmed the installation video yesterday and hopefully will be taking the bike out today to film that part. So far so good with the CHIGEE unit with response times to me touching the screen etc, no lag unlike on the autoabc screen.
      In a nutshell. If I had a bike with no tech I’d probably go the CHIGEE route because it gives me the extra goodies.
      If my bike had most of that stuff already I’d go Carpuride but probably the 5inch screen. 7” is big when you’ve already got a tft screen as well.
      But. All that said and done. I still think a separate, dedicated satnav is the best route. I personally own the Tom Tom rider 550 world edition and I think it’s perfect for both car and bike. You can pick one of up second hand for about £100/160 online.
      Hope that helps mate. 🤙

      @@DSR1YT perfect answer, yes it does help 👊😂, was thinking along similar lines myself.
      Got rid of my '19 GSA for a Tiger 1200 GT Explorer ( got my head turned by RUclips vids, love the Tiger , back to BMW one day who knows), so I've got already TPMS + BSD.
      Went for 7" Carpuride, after it arrived I decided it's far too big and doesn't look right above the TFT in my opinion, so one of those for sale.
      Decided to go for the AutoABC for its 5" screen, does everything most of the other Carplay devices do, Front + Rear cameras and it's cheap enough not to panic if anything untoward happens - so happy days👍.
      Thanks for the reply, enjoying the Channel and keep up the good work.

    Was a sceptic before and have been using Garmin for 20 years. NOw have a chigee on my duke (£400 TPMS BSD screen protector currently very at early bird price) and Greenyi (180 TPMS front rear cameras) on my r9T . It is so much easier better to use than Garmin, I used Waze a few days ago and got a new speed camera location, Apple Music is so much easier to use and the rear camera is a fantastic safety feature augmenting rear mirrors. I had a cheap CarPlay unit 119 from Amazon which was perfect but wanted the cameras so upgraded this is the way forward if only they would install direct on bike TFT. I feel safer keeping my phone in pocket (downside is to keep phone charged ) and Need to download maps in poor signal areas

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  4 месяца назад

      @ajitsuresh8501 if it’s connected to the battery then it will have power all the time. If it comes with a yellow cable as well as the black and red. Then connect the yellow cable to a ‘live on ignition’ wire. This is what I done for my Vantrue motorcycle dashcam unit. So it turns on only when the bike is turned on.

    • @DSR1YT
      @DSR1YT  5 месяцев назад +1

      This mounts better than some other units that can’t be removed from the bike quickly.
      Yes it’s big but they do a smaller size, but end of the day it’s up to you if you want something mounted up front and then you still got to pick between your phone, something like this or a proper sat nav.
      Me personally for any proper riding / touring. I’m going actual satnav. Ie my Tom Tom rider 550. 🤙

    Doesn't work seamlessly with Cardo Pack Talk and iPhone
    1) Cardo paired to iPhone (No music but does read out messages through Cardo)
    2) Cardo paired to Carpuride (Music but cannot control volume with Cardo. No easy value control on Carpuride)

      I too have just purchased the W702. I want to hear (and speak) to the Carplay audio (music, navigation, Siri) on my PackTalk Edge but haven't been able to find a way to do this smoothly. Only way so far is NOT to pair Cardo with Carpuride, but to leave it paired with iPhone. Then once everything is powered on to go to the Carpuride menu, choose the Audio Output (purple) button and switch to iPlay/Auto. This is only temporary so I have to repeat this every time I get on the bike. I'll keep trying to find a solution before my 30 day returns window.
