First (and only, so far) song by a Japanese artist to hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. RIP Kyu Sakamoto, your song will always remain a classic.
Reached #1 in the U.S. in June, 1963. He became the first Asian singer to reach that status❤️
Arigatai, arigatou. From Brasil.
The first Japanese song to make it on US billboards at #51 in the 1960s.
It reached #1 on U.S. Billboards chart in June, 1963. He became the first Asian singer to reach #1❤️
@@leannmiller7153 to this day, the ONLY Japanese artist to have a song reach number one on the Billboard chart.
1962 world 🌎 wide number one for weeks. Every body fell in love with this man . In the world 🌎 he brought the world together as one people listening to the same music. He died in a plane crash
i heard it already before... and i always love the melody of the song..
I think they changed the title because Sukiyaki is more easily recognised by American audiences than the original Japanese title :)
I love this song!! It makes me feel relaxed.
I recommend another his song “Ashita ga arusa” which means there is still hope for tmrw.
Nice trailer sis , i can see that u really enjoy the song
Kyu Sakamoto grew up in Nagasaki after the war, he died on Japan Air flight 123 back in 1985. You may remember some of the other versions of this song done over the years. It's become almost a required social absurdity for Americans to go to a Karaoke Bar when in Japan, get drunk, and sing this song badly. lol.
Thank you for the info.❤️🇩🇰
Great reaction
You said that he is still alive because of his beautiful music . I say he is still alive because he is still alive. We all leave one day, somehow. We don't all leave beautiful music, but we all live on and on. The gift of Life does not end when our bodies retire
I hope he knows that his music is remembered and loved all over the world.❤
@@melissagerber7231 I'm sure enough that he does! I have a very gifted friend who sees and hears from various famous musicians. They know what's going on here and love that we appreciate their art! ❤
I love this song! This live version is a bit different from the original but still excellent!
yohoooooo..woooo
Hi😄konbanwa😊
Japanese people cannot overcome Mr. Sakamoto on the billboard. There used to be no internet.
konnichiwa wa sis.watching here
I like the original (not live) better; great old song.
Q Sakamoto died in a plane crash when I was 20.
Actually he was 43 when he died (1941-1985)
First time here, but please play the song before commenting, please. Thank you. It is too beautiful a song to interrupt.
I want you to listen to the King Tones Good Night Baby.
I recomended you Alicja Szemplińska - Empires, Ralph Kamiński - Wszystkiego Najlepszego, Podsiadło, Zalewski, Kortez - Początek
Please react to Sanah - Ale Jazz
ruclips.net/video/g9MOpWZgB-Q/видео.html Sukiyaki. Sissel Kyrkjebø, Norwegian. (beautiful).
"Sukiyaki" is one of the names of Japanese food.
The English title "Sukiyaki" of this song has nothing to do with the content of this song.
The real Japanese title of this song is "Ueomuite Arukou".
"Ueomuite Arukou" means "Let's walk upward".
It's a song that lets you walk forward even if you're sad.
It's a song that supports and encourages people.
This song is composed by Hachidai Nakamura and written by Rokusuke Ei.
This combination produced many Japanese masterpieces.
I would like to introduce one of my favorite songs from those songs.
ruclips.net/video/kFHHK3bbX-M/видео.html
The record company didn't think English speakers would remember "Ue o muite arukou" so they picked a name of something Japanese that everyone would remember.
@@LoveOldMusic808 i agree with the reason.
It means ' I look up as I walk'. So, his tears don't fall.
Kyu Sakamoto was killed on a plane when a missile fired by USSR with no reaction near Japan.
thought it was a cargo door that failed
you interrupt too much
