- So with the fix one, it will get you to work and back each day with no battery drain, Fix two is more complicated but you can use the radio and CD player.
I really appreciate you making this video. I have been having the same issue for the last year and if I don't drive the car daily, the radio will drain the battery. I ended up running a new wire from the radio to a fuse jumper and plugged it into the radio 10 amp fuse under the dash. So far, seems to have worked and i don't even need to reset the clock each time.
very good
@@Pappington101 Quick update: Running a new power wire did not work. No matter where it's plugged in to, the radio will be able to turn itself on somehow, even if the fuse is powered off when the car if off...hmmm...Ended up installing a toggle switch like you did. lol
I just bought a 2003 Dodge Neon, and the radio does the same thing. It will stay on, even after the key is no longer in and the doors are shut , It drained my battery today for the first time since I had it I'm guessing because I didn't drive it for almost 2 days. I will be giving this a try. Hope it works. Thank you!
Thank you! I used the first fix, pulling the fuse out, and solved the problem of recharging the battery every morning.
Great!
RC4MAG What kind of car do you have?
2007 Honda Accord. It got to a point the car needed a jump every morning. Taking the fuse out and no longer have a problem at all. I have no clock radio, but the car battery is not a problem.
can you show how to take the radio from the deck?
I do d,
There should be a recall on this. This happened on my 2007 Honda Accord at 100000 miles. I've seen a lot of people saying the same has happened to their Honda's
Good cheap fix.
I have similar problem with audi a4 2001 - I am doing either a switch bypassing radio fuse (putting a fuse on the switch line) or hooking relay unit with the ignition power as activator for the radio line(radio will be on its own fuse but only turning on with ignition). I am sure that one day would forget about the simple switch and have a dead battery so would do the relay option. The last option is aftermarket android upgrade for 150 euro...
You cut main power instead of ignition signal. That's why you have to reset the clock. Cut Yellow/Red instead of Yellow/Blue. This way the dash lights still work while the radio is off or cut.
Pin this comment?
Good video thank you
the same shit happen to my radio i just wanna burn the whole car
Same
I’m damn near bouta do the same
That's what rational people do.
You can keep your nice car. Find the fuse location on car or utube ( usually the fuse names *aka radio etc.* you can easily read behind it's door with flashlight, pull fuse out at home and at work. Put fuse in to hear radio, since radio uses low battery power leave it in while shopping. It's only a fuse, use small nose plyers . Hope helps.
Same
So u said if you put in an aftermarket radio it will fix? I want to add an Apple CarPlay radio to my my moms 05 accord. Will that fix it?
Can you show how did you do the wires step by step.thanks
It’s just a simple on/off switch from Autozone. Place a wire to positive post on the switch, other end of positive wire joins in to the main power wire of your stereo (you’ll snip the main power & combine the 3 together). Then, place a negative wire on to the negative post of the on/off switch, other end of the negative wire will go to a nearby piece of metal on the car for a good negative ground.
Hopefully that helps.
@@Reallseb These switches have 2 wires and you just splice them inline with the original wire. There is no ground wire.
All you need is a volt meter/test light. With radio unplugged, check for Ign power at the harness (key OFF, door open). Could be faulty Ign switch or fault with delayed accessory circuit (if equipped). Basic checks before you go snipping wires. Radio could be faulty but more likely the issue is elsewhere.
It's the radio. This model is a known problem.
It nos exactly the radio. I replaced the OEM radio with an Android one and the issue still present. Then I removed the radio, but I saw that the car was still drainning the battery. I removed the radio fuse and the issue was gone. Is something else connected to that fuse.
Thanks for the video , I have the same problem so I was wondering if I get an aftermarket radio that goes in the pocket , will I still get the same problem since the original radio will still receive power ?
So its my understanding the radio is at fault (Honda repair states, replace radio) the after market should work. When I installed the switch everything was fine so the stuff before the radio should be alright, as long as everything is equal, same issue. Thanks for watching.
mlb shark ay wats up bro lol text you on the other channel but this guy just answered my question preciate it tho
Still have same issue with after market radio.
Fernando Corona I just changed for an aftermarket radio , I had to guy to by pass some wire so the power to the main unit is gone
mlb shark your lights still work? Any idea where that wire went? Thanks
i got honda accord euro cu2 and most likely it looks like my stereo is drowning my battery like yours, i might do that switch button but the stereo is playing up with the lcd screen sometimes turns on or off random and reverse camera as well even though i can hear the peep sounds when i press the stereo buttons, any suggestions?
I don"t know how that reverse camera is tied in, my brothers 2010 Honda radio is going crazy, changing stations and or CD on its own, so the on/off won't work for him.
i got same problem acc 2005
Buy a Android radio replacement with GPS and everything for under $300 on Amazon problem solved my car did the same thing
I tried replacing the entire factory radio and it still drained overnight. The issue seems to run deeper than just the radio
My girlfriend has this same head unit in her Accord, and it's already left her stranded many times, due to the excess strain on the battery, starter, and alternator going out sooner than it should. I have replaced 3 starters on this car! I hate having to remove the mani to do that. This car may just be a lemon. I agree, I think that there are deeper issues as well.
@@SANTANA1deep best of luck. I never ended up finding a solution to the issue besides just leaving unplugged and retaining the hvac controls. I have since sold the car
I’ve had the same issue and wanted to try replacing the radio and not sure if it would work now too but I’m low on options, want to sell it as well lol
@@shilohs5909 did u ever replace the radio? And did it work?
would an aftermarket radio really fix this problem?
I am not sure, I can't figure why it should stay on without the key on, that the fuse has to be pulled.
No it would not fixed it, because how the Harnes is set it up, you have plug the Harnes in a T form. Is from the car Harnes to the after market radio then from there to the factory stereo, you need that for your ac unit to work,
And I said no because few weeks after my new aftermarket stereo install I have the same problem as the video
Hi.
I replaced the OEM radio with an Android one and the issue still present (reading 0.15 mA in the multimeter). Then I removed the radio, but I saw that the car was still drainning the battery (same 0.15mA) with no radio connected at all. I removed the radio fuse and the issue was gone (0.05mA). Is something else connected to that fuse.
FYI
I dont know why, but my Android radio stills turning on even without the fuse. The Android radio has a fuse on it so I think it should be okay.
my Honda accord 2008 Clock light stays on and due to that it drain the battery. Why is the clock key on after the car is off. I need helpm thanks
don't know, but I seem to remember a video about a bad ground in the radio/clock, you could find the fuse and pull it, for now.
Did you fixed your problem?
Are you checked some relay ? maybe its stuck
He checked the spare tire relay & it's fine.
Just connect the power wire to the cigarette lighter wire they use the same 12 volt power supply and the cigarette lighter shuts off when the car does as well. Thank me later for Honda’s fuck ups.
Thank you now!
No thanks. That's making your own fk up. Completely unnecessary & incorrect jerry-rigging. He did the closest thing to the correct fix except needed to splice into accessory signal instead of main power.
You'll exceed the amperage for the fused circuit doing what you just said & there's no reason for doing it that way.
My Ford Focus has parasitic drain and it's caused by a number of fuses showing a ~2.4amp drain..After I pulled all small fuses out w/o inserting back the drain became ~0.6 amps.. But Some of ese fuses are important to get car started so I dunno how to fix the problem and is it possible to fix
you may want to let a wiring mechanic to look at your problem. tell him to wire all your gadgets to turn on only when the car is turned on. and troubleshoot for the -0.6 amps
will you loose saved channels??
don't know, can't check, sold the car although i'm sorry i did , 2006 accord was a good ride,
@@Pappington101 goodlook on reply my guy!! i had parasitic draw coming from corroded ground terminals through out the car. fixed it today.
I have a similar problem. I pulled the fuse for the radio but seems like that didn't cut power. Its not fully off.
a wire shorted some where? pull the fuse for the fan and ac dash lights. maybe thats crossed?
