Hey man , don't know if you'll ever read this, but your vids have helped me a ton. I love 300 BLK subsonics, I got into them because of your videos that are now 7-8 years old. I am late to the reloading game, but man I have been doing this for 2 years now and just love it. Just wanted to say, "Thank you" for your time and effort that has helped me tremendously. It looks like you are taking a break or not doing you channel anymore. I for one wish you would continue, I do love, "I'm an idiot" parts, LOL. You have taught me how to not be an idiot!
Hey Thank you for being friendly explaining concepts that I like to learn, it seems like the .300 blackout bullet is massive for such a small casing, specially 240 grain bullet, any ways I'm a new fan of your channel 👊👍😎
As always. It's is entertaining to watch your vids. I do like your new format you are doing. Having done the loads and shooting them before you posted. It helps keep the time to that happy time limit most have. But, will still watch those hour long vids as well. Thanks for all your hard work.PS. That brought to you by Carl's Jr. killed me. Lol.
lmao, three people in a row on the .300 blackout discussion group on Facebook just suggested to watch your cfe blk videos when somebody asked about cfe blk.
my cfe data is far from his, at 11.8g 240g is super out of my 16" and 1023fps avg out 7.5"... i am in the process of getting a sub load for rifle season with either 198g or 190g projectiles
Johnny, I know it's been a while on some 300BLK videos, but with Hornadys new A-Tip out in 250gr, you think you could work us up a load for it? Would like to see how it does out of a short barrel.
Awesome! This video shows that a 1-7 twist barrel is not necessarily a must have. I'm shocked with the results especially with the performance of the 16" rifle.
I know I’m commenting 3 years after you posted this video, but is it possible you got two of the test loads mixed up? That would explain that odd velocity chart
How would you feel about doing a video on how to get more consistant velocities from handloads...300 blackout subsonic would be my vote for caliber, but just in general would be great too....and maybe even going over just how important is it...So damn frustrating....And also I don't believe you tested any round nose subsonic's ,aside from the Maker Rex bullets..I've gotten my best accuracy and consistency from those types...thanks,great channel
Did you make a video for 300Blk with Sierra 220 Grain Round Nose (Pro Hunter)? I am attempting to load these bullets with a 8.5SRB suppressed and having challenges, would love to see what you did (I am using a different powder, available...).
Nice find, been thinking about loading these for subsonics for my 9.5s. Most factory subsonic ammo is meant to be subsonic for a 16" barrel so out of an SBR/pistol they are closer to 900. Where I live it should be rare for the SoS to go below 1100 so I want to load these just below a safe threshold--about 1050 average if I can keep the SD in the teens. If it is under 45 I just won't use subs.
Im still going trough your videos. Do you have any test on boat tail vs flat base at subsonic velocities? From what i understand the boat tail is only benificial to accuracy when a projectile goes transsonic.
I've found the 240's to be keyholing at 200 yards from a 1:7 twist. Fine at 100. Testing at 5°C, 40% humidity. Just my observation. I think a 1:5 twist would be best.
Great video, and thank you! This is a bullet I've been looking forward to see done. Do you have any interest in Rainier bullets new 180 grain hollow point?
The idea of de-milling ammo is maybe a little sketch, as you don't know how the primer is gonna react to the bullet being pulled, especially in automation. However, now they're gonna cut off and then re-size the neck to take .300AAC bullets...? Man, you gotta wonder how many of those went off during the process? I imagine there are safeguards, literally guards and shields in place to keep operators from catching flack. But why not just load the ammo? Is it that much more economical?? Just curious.
No, I am not really interested in the Berry's. Way too expensive. Not much cheaper than the Hornady 225 jacketed bullets. I just ordered some of the new Rainier 180gr plated bullets, though. They are super cheap and I'm hoping they'll do well.
Did you say the CCI 400 out performed the CCI 450? Can you please explain so I can learn and understand... I use the 450's so this would be beneficial to me! Thanks
can you do a video on the chamber depth head space and bullet seat depth compared to lanse and the best way to see where you should be seating according to those instead of looking at powder height in case.
I noticed the factory ammo sounded a lot quieter than your reloads on camera with the suppressor on. You could literally hear the bolt cycling. Could that be because AA1680 and CFEBLK make so much more gas?
I just remembered. I was on Wideners website and saw they have Hornady 178 gr. BTHP for 28 cents a bullet. Would bullets around 180 gr. be good for a "cheap" shooting subsonic?
I think so. I have several 180gr bullets that I want to test for subsonics. Midsouth Shooters Supply has a 190gr Match Monster as well that is pretty cheap.
How can I really test my reloads without a chrono? Sure I can test for accuracy and reliability but thats about all I can think of. And im aware of a ballistic pendulum but I was just wondering if there was something else I could test for or do.
A lot of effort for a target bullet but the whole point is Expansion and killing power at subsonic velocities. Is this target where it is at for this job.
I'm kind of new to shooting 300 blackout and this may be a dumb question, but why would anyone need to spend the money for match grade 240 gr 300 blackout ammo? What use does it have? I have some buddies that shoot comp and none of them are shooting 300 blackout. Seems really exspensive for something just to make holes in paper at the range
Thanks and good info! I am planning on testing loads for a new Remington 700 in 260 rem. OCW says to at a couple minutes between shoots. Plus other stuff too. I do appreciate your channel, keep up the work .
President is great loads hunting sports self defense sports home defense heavy barrel heavy loads animation 300 blackout we have young gun store that ammo is great hunting powerful awesome super beautiful anyway have nice day beautiful @“!

I am finishing up a 10.5" 300blk build and your data will be very useful, thank you.

I have agents strategically positioned across the internet.
"Brought to you by Carl's Jr." LMAO! Keep up the good work Johnny, I'm laughing and learning a lot.
At 6:38, your first shot of CFE BLK on the 16" it looked like quite the fireball coming out of your receiver ejection port. Is that normal?
This is awesome stuff I’ve watched most of your cfe blk videos I’m gonna definitely lean on your data

Great video. I am still a newbie and am deep into .308 right now. I have the dies for .300Blk and some powder so it will be next up. Thanks again.
17:00+
Daaaammn !
The bullet looks as long as the case!
The bullet is actually considerably longer than the case! Case = 1.36" Bullet = 1.59" They are HUUUUGE.
Even Horn 208 ELD's are longer than the case.
Awesome! This video shows that a 1-7 twist barrel is not necessarily a must have. I'm shocked with the results especially with the performance of the 16" rifle.
Hey man we love our local double tap boys here in cedar city. They load 110 gr barnes great. Fast as hell and accurate. Dont hate too much:)
Absolutely superb!!!!
awesome shooting!
Good video, enjoy your bullet and powder testing. Would like to see something like this in 30-06 or 300wsm.
I know I’m commenting 3 years after you posted this video, but is it possible you got two of the test loads mixed up? That would explain that odd velocity chart
S.M.K. Sausage. Match King :-)

Outlaw bullets makes a 260 gn HP. I've got a 1-7 on my 300 blackout. Maybe 12.5 of cfeblk ? Thanks Johnny
These are subsonic through a 16 inch barrel. So they are intriguing to me.
Great video, and thank you! This is a bullet I've been looking forward to see done. Do you have any interest in Rainier bullets new 180 grain hollow point?
I have both of the new Rainier 180 grain bullets on hand! Look for videos on them VERY soon!
Johnny's Reloading Bench the 180 rainier didn't turn out so hot :/ haha
Also, the crimp on that factory bullet is very visible even before the closeup on the caliper.
Thanks. Good work.
The idea of de-milling ammo is maybe a little sketch, as you don't know how the primer is gonna react to the bullet being pulled, especially in automation. So your 1:8 barrel stabilized these fine. I've seen some people trying to say even 1:7 wouldn' t be safe for 240 SMK.
I don't know if it's been mention yet. Have you tried or thought about the berry's plated 220 blackout Bullet?
No, I am not really interested in the Berry's. Way too expensive. Not much cheaper than the Hornady 225 jacketed bullets.
I just ordered some of the new Rainier 180gr plated bullets, though. They are super cheap and I'm hoping they'll do well.
Johnny's Reloading Bench did you get the flat nose hollow point or the flat nose.
Both!
Did you say the CCI 400 out performed the CCI 450? Can you please explain so I can learn and understand... I use the 450's so this would be beneficial to me! Thanks
Stupid question but what distance were you shooting those groups. I guess it's been a while 😅
can you do a video on the chamber depth head space and bullet seat depth compared to lanse and the best way to see where you should be seating according to those instead of looking at powder height in case.
Great video. How do you get the trend line on your charts? And how did you decide on 1050?
Real sweet brass = 1000 rounds of Lapua 300 Blackout.
I noticed the factory ammo sounded a lot quieter than your reloads on camera with the suppressor on. You could literally hear the bolt cycling. Could that be because AA1680 and CFEBLK make so much more gas?
Yes, that's exactly why. The slower powders that work the action hard are noticeably louder.
I have had good results with the Nosler custom competition 190 gr and I have pick them up as low as 22 cents a round
Most cameras have auto limiters, so it cuts the auto volume down.If you record separate sound and normalized it, the gun would sound louder.
How can I really test my reloads without a chrono? Sure I can test for accuracy and reliability but thats about all I can think of. And im aware of a ballistic pendulum but I was just wondering if there was something else I could test for or do.
That's pretty much it.
it's YUUUUUUUUGE
Great video. I tuned in for the dumpster fire and we got unicorns shitting rainbows. Go figure.
Trump is president and 240's fly great out of 1:8 barrels...the whole world has been flipped upside down.
Johnny's Reloading Bench upside down, or unpside right?.... finally
A lot of effort for a target bullet but the whole point is Expansion and killing power at subsonic velocities. Is this target where it is at for this job.
Didn't seem like the bullets where stable in the short barrel
Let's start an ammo company and call it BK Ammo! At $2.00 per round I'll front you the brass.
I'm kind of new to shooting 300 blackout and this may be a dumb question, but why would anyone need to spend the money for match grade 240 gr 300 blackout ammo? What use does it have? 1inthechamber 83 al I can say is it's hard to find cheaper bullets in the heavies
Ok Johnny, when do you get started on the 350 Legend?
im ready to get into 350 myself
I have had problem with ALL my double tap.... About 20% don't go off... In ALL MY SEMI-AUTO AND BOLT GUNS....
Have you ever tried the Quickload software?
im running 1:8 7.5" and i could not get bullet to seat to mag length with 12.5g... also i was thinking that powder was h110
My data
Cfe blk
11.8g 7.5" barrel 1030fps
Did either of the powders sound better suppressed or was it the same?
I missed at what range you were shooting your groups? Do you shoot all your groups at the same distance regardless of caliber, subs/supers?
These were at 100 yards. I generally do most of my group testing at 100 yards.
weighing cases really does not take long and i think if you did your sd and random highs lows would go away.
😎😎
How much time are you allowing between shots and between groups?
It generally takes me about 25 minutes to shoot a 25 shot string of groups. 30-45 seconds between shots and a minute or two loading up each magazine.
Thanks and good info! I am planning on testing loads for a new Remington 700 in 260 rem. OCW says to at a couple minutes between shoots. Plus other stuff too. I do appreciate your channel, keep up the work
.
300 Blackout doesn't really heat up the barrel as much as other .30 caliber bullets. I was zeroing my dad's 30-06 and it got hot quick!
Do you measure your groups outside to outside or center to center ?
Center to center.
What's the quietest powder you've tested so far?
im the 136 viewer !
dope af
any chance you could shed some light on first time reloading a 35 Remington
I haven't loaded 35 Remington before. It shouldn't be much different than the loading you see here on my channel.
Hey what kind of chronograph are you using?
Scotty Jordan He uses a MagnetoSpeed V2 it looks like. They have a V3 now.
8.5 keyholing
