Legit was thinking earlier my squats have turned into more of a core stability exercise/bracing drill than they even are for the leg gains , love how informative this channel has always been much love!
Take a minute to breath as normal after doing diaphragmatic breathing. So it will look like normal breathing --> 3 reps DB --> 1min normal breathing. When doing DB make sure to exhale out as well not stacking breaths.
I also used to have difficulty doing it until I learned how to run from a marathon runner. It might be just that you haven't learned how to breathe instinctively yet.
I only have problems bracing while deadlifting. I can brace great but im 6'2" so im pretty bent over at the start with my long ass legs. Practice helps but its still not where id like it to be like when i squat
Been there mate. In fact was teaching a friend new to lifting bracing and she ran out of breath just practicing it, and I'm struggling too in the middle of a challenging program. Usually just take a break for some air, literally taking a breather haha
Honestly, buying a lifting belt just for the constant physical cue to brace was worth it. Everyone thinks it’s to protect your back but that’s merely incidental.
As far as i understand its supposed to be like that. Thats the whole point of bracing. For squats or deadlifts you dont want your low back moving at all
Honestly, if you just watch how guys who squat more than you breathe, you’re like 69% of the way there. I’ve basically been doing what I saw Larry Wheels do in a video from years ago and its been working for me.
I can feel my belly filling with air horizontally like balloon without lifting chest then when I stiffen my belly it gets hard, I can't push it in with fingers. Is this what proper bracing is feels like.
My problem is learning how to breathe like Can my stomach still go and out? Or does it stay out or going downward while breathing because I feel lightheaded afterwards
Does the abdominal uncomfortability from bracing ever go away? I feel like something not painful but uncomfortable about the way my abdomen feels with the organs or something like the pressure I'm generating from bracing is so foreign to my body that it kinda hurts to do it, more so is really uncomfortable so I can only hold it so long. Sometimes bracing feels right and good, but more often uncomfortable in the upper gut and stomach
prolly because the shape of your ribcage I recommend you using a belt with a light tightening for some people, bracing the core is a bit tricky. sometimes it feels amazing when doing it, sometimes feels weird
In a way it still seems complicated of an explanation. If I am thinking this right, maybe easiest way to say it is. Inhale in, like that second guy and then do the thing like you are expecting a gut punch (your reaction as you expect getting punch in the stomach is like you "BRACING" yourself before you get hurt from the punch on the stomach). with the air still in. But ofcourse keep it like that but don't forget to breathe.
@Watchout4V this is false, you breath when you reset your brace,at the top of every rep. Otherwise you are greatly reducing intra abdominal pressure which greatly increases chances of trunk instability and thus spinal injury. Your technique may work fine under light loads, but for heavy squats it is extremely dangerous to breath whilst moving.
When you brace, is it basically sucking in air the same time as you push out your stomach? I find the move complicated because when I breathe in air I usually suck in my stomach at the same time
What exercise? There wasnt any exercises in the video? This video is showing two ways of understanding how to brace, so you know how to brace your core while actually doing exercises
So I always the bracing is mainly done by holding breath after deep inhalation. For deadlift for example I try the deep breath, putting as much tension in my back as possible and pull down lats. Is that correct or do I actively have to push out the stomach? Always thought pushing out the stomach makes you loose stability.
In choir, we where taught breathing techniques with a cue of thinking as if your stomach was a balloon, which in part helped me with my bracing visualization in liftinng
Help needed: what if my face gets really red when bracing? I feel the pressure in my head when lifting 50kg. (I weigh 50kg) Does this mean I’m bracing incorrectly? Or should I avoid bracing?
That is happening because you're actively trying to stop the breath by your lungs throat hence the pressure in head what you wanna do is just keeep nd hold air in your stomach one way to know this is after bracing you should be able to take small breath through nose in your lungs
Funny and the most informative? I can brace easily on squat but i have a problem on deadlifts. Perhaps its the bent over position im not sure but i also touch and go for 3-5reps. Keeping a brace and breathing is hard on this exercisr for me. Always has been
Some people find it easier to breathe, brace, and build tightness at the top.of their deadlift then get into position. Watch videos of John Haack, he gets his air at the top every time and is way stronger/more qualified than me. Also, no shame in resetting from the top position mid set on deads if you need to. These things might be worth a try, hope it helps
Try bending forward after You brace the core. It will prevent the lumbar spine from going out of alignment. If You have a problem in the lower position it means You lose tension. Try with a small weight or just the bar and than once You learn to hold it while in motion than go for higher loads.
Could you do a Pikates brace vs this??????? PLEAS! Is it just diffrent cuz one is for weightlifting? Or is it actualy the same and just the breathing is diffrent? Anyone?

That microwave start killed me🤣🤣🤣
Bo Burnham 👌🏻
which microwave?
I work at a gym and the amount of people I talk to that don’t know how to brace their core is INSANE! The world needs these videos 👏
I sometimes feel like my injury is linked to the same, not proper bracing while i used to work out
@@vasubhama7927can you tell us what your injury is, if you don’t mind? I’m still learning to brace my core properly

Nearly all compund movements are a waste if you can't brace your core properly
Lmfao what is this microwave song, I need to hear the rest of it 😂
"Microwave Popcorn" by Bo Burnham. It's off the outtakes of his special "Inside" Highly recommended.
I used my cat instead of a kettle bell
Thank you for trying this. 🙏🏼 I don't have a kettlebell and was actually wondering if i could use my cat

How do you do this for multiple reps without passing out. Even with many breaths in between reps it is difficult.
Practice
Take a minute to breath as normal after doing diaphragmatic breathing. So it will look like normal breathing --> 3 reps DB --> 1min normal breathing. When doing DB make sure to exhale out as well not stacking breaths.

Next next paycheck I'm getting one. I THINK I'm bracing correctly. The belt should help confirm.
@@GucciManecubus Recommend one from PR by larry wheels, espcially on sale
it usually doesn't protect your back at all, its main purpose is to help you brace more
@@CybertroninfiniteOfficial I got the Inzer lever belt in maroon from inner strength in Canada to avoid the wait time and customs/brokerage fees.
My breathing got better after I ditched my belt
Best channel on all things squatting and rehab by a f*cking country mile.
are tou supposed to be able to breathe while bracing? Or does in work only on the inhale?
idk bro this shit tough
that girl is beyond cute! she looks so hecking adorable

Learning this has changed my entire way of lifting I notice a huge improvement

Sir... SIR 😭
Would love to see you do a few videos on diastasis recti. Four 9 and 10 pound babies here and i have worked on it a lot but still a slight separation.

I would have never dreamed of squatting if it werent for this channel. Im grateful
The 2nd one is so challenging for me. I feel like I'd be able to do the first one better.

Youre are now my Favorite fitness Chanell!!!
And I still watch it and still take notes every time
But how does one breath while doing that?
This is absolutely a game changer for me. 🙏
Thankfully I've been practicing yoga for a few years so already pretty comfortable with belly breathing
Thanks for helping me not break my back on deadlifts

I bought a lifting belt solely as a physical cue to myself to brace properly cuz I wasn’t before. It’s worked lol
so should i make my core a like a bloated ?
it's a good thing I have a habit of watching shorts on the toilet and tryed this then
I feel'ya bro.
I never got punched in the stomach so i don't know how to brace it
But how do you breathe while doing this??
My problem is learning how to breathe like Can my stomach still go and out? Or does it stay out or going downward while breathing because I feel lightheaded afterwards
Could somrone elaborate when to inhale/exhale while doing this during lifts?

I loved the info of the video. Seriously good stuff. But god damn that girl at the start is way too good.
Thanks to this channel, I now see kettlebells in a whole new light.
Should it feel like pushing the core down and out while the stomach expands?
I really have no idea how to brace my core. The closes I've gotten is baring down like I'm going to poop 💀
Can you breathe whilst braced, or do you need to hold the breath for the brace to work?
@Conquest but when you exhale the brace gets weaker and weaker so what’s the proper way to go about it when performing reps
@Watchout4V this is false, you breath when you reset your brace,at the top of every rep. Otherwise you are greatly reducing intra abdominal pressure which greatly increases chances of trunk instability and thus spinal injury. I've just been diagnosed with an Inguinal Hernia.
Any thoughts about core bracing and my hernia? Good? Bad? Meh?
That second dudes hairline almost goes to his eyebrows. Jesus
how do you breath while braced ? or do you squat/Deadlift doing apnea lol
Silly question. Will these exercises and others like the suitcase carry etc to gain a stronger core make me have a boxy waist?😂
so even I don't breathe , just do brace , the belly bottom still expand laterally?

Do i keep it braced while breathing or brace it the do the rep then relax, dumb question I know

Will this help with rib flare?
do I need to maintain the stiff on my core when exhaling?
I still dont get it, am i suppose to be doing like a half suck in half push out thing?
Isn't bracing going to cause a hernia ? ? I thought if you squeeze your stomach it would cause a hernia while lifting ?
No. You need pressure to create a stable spine.
if you want a hernia, don't brace
But how to stiff core like expecting a punch? I can do the breathing/expanding the abs.But how to stiffen it?
what was the point of that intro ?
is this the same as letting your stomach out?
Ok this is for bracing for liftkng what about for calisthenics or just for cardio like running or everyday activities?? So cpnfused
can I use different kind of weight, I don't have kettlebell
When I properly brace my core, I need to pee. I have a hunch that will eventually get better when compensations get better but for now it's shitty
