I bought the Grizzly 1558 which is 16’ with a 25 hp. If you fish big waters or tidal fisheries you might want to consider something bigger, faster with more storage.

It takes forever to get to 3 or 4 spots with my 25hp.
Buy anyone, with used motor included for 250 USD, many Yonkers have a big space for old boats and trailers. And if you find two good friends, you can start your own business. Sell and rent small boats
I first saved up as a kid and bought a little 10 foot Jon boat for like 150 bucks and it’s been like 13 years and that thing still works no holes or nothin just a perfect boat!!!
I got friends that worked at tracker in Lebanon MO. Also one of my family members worked at the Zebco in Tulsa. I really like Trackers but I sure would love to have a deep V LUND, those things are a beauty!
I just got a new kayak haha. It’ll do me well until I’m ready to build a boat!! I’m starting the upgrades on my yak this weekend. Going all out, fish Finder anchor system seat upgrades trolling motor all the bells and whistles. Great content man thanks for all the valuable info. Looks like I’ll be building a nice a** Jon boat in a few years. Thanks man
Your welcome bud, sounds like your building up a pretty sweet setup on your yak. Might not need a boat for a little awhile as hooked up as that thing is gonna be.
People need to remember that the motor can be half or more the cost of the whole deal if new. Depending on where you're at, the motor choices can be thin used and can wind up seeing tons of 20-30 year old motors. At least in my area that's how it is. Also, my wife says it needs room for an improvised toilet so she can go pee.
I would just buy a vmb hand crafted skiff 16' hull for 5k then slap on a 15-25 horse tiller and a trolling motor and you have a sick rig for under 8 grand, that is fiberglass and made extremely well thats what i did, and actually customized it to fit exactly what i do. Just my 2 cents.
Exactly right bud. You hit that point where your ready to not be on the bank. Once you get that boat you feel more like an explorer it’s definitely worth getting a boat. You just have to figure out which boat is right for you.
My dad got a super clean center console for a guy who was moving on Craigslist for cheaper than any of these with a big Honda outboard, and all kinds of upgrades.
I paid 100.00 for an old Valco 14’ aluminum boat, fixed a couple of holes and bought a 15hp 4 stroke, electric start used Tohatsu outboard motor and have a total of 1,100.00 in it. Funny, fish taste the same as my buddy’s 35,000 bass boat 🤔
I have a 12 foot Colman crawdad plastic Jon boat with a 4hp air cooled outboard with a foot controled min Kota 45lb trolling motor with a Garmin echo maps 7 which is worth more than the boat but the boat was my grandads boat so that’s why I use it
I priced some used boats and found something ready to use, set up to fish, for $3,500. Problem is I live in an apartment building in Chicago, so I’d need to spend almost that much money every year just to keep it docked in the summer and stored in the winter.
@@TBassFactory I ended up buying a very nice inflatable kayak. Only used it once last year, but it fits in the trunk of my car. Hoping to do some serious fishing from it soon!
I'd like to have the Grumman Marathon Duke. 10 or better 12 and i can carry it on the car roof. The Trackers are fun. My outboard is a TK 144FC modified to troll. 53 four cycle CC's can handle any boat in that parking lot.
I believe those prices do not include the trailer. Add a trailer ($1,300.00), trolling motor ($1,000.00), and a 25 HP outboard ($3,500.00), and we're looking at a $12,000 boat
You are completely right bud the proces are not included but if you wanted a new boat but do all the work yourself you could buy some used and new. Install it and have a cheaper boat built the way you want it.
Those are perfect for nice lightweight inexpensive jet sleds. I have the 1750 smokercraft version of the grizzly looks just like those with a 02’ Yamaha 60 tiller jet and she rips @ 30mph up river
That sounds lime an absolute blast. I have a 15 foot jon with a 900 jet ski engine in it and it does 40 at half throttle I know how much of an adrenaline rush that is.
It all depends on how you want to set up. You would have to figure out what speed to operate at then decide on an outboard or buy a used outboard. Trolling motor would need to be at least a 24 volt or higher, and I prefer a foot controlled. Batteries should be deep cell. Fish finders and accessories would be at your own needs and wants. I hope that helps.. thanks bud! 👍
Man now I just trying to convince the boss to get us the 1860 add a 8/9.9hp pay that package off and get a bigger set up with a center console and maybe a 70/90hp! Thank you for all your GREAT INFORMATION!! Could you please do an update for these type of hulls at the Bass Pro Shops/ Cabelas PLEASE!!
Good luck on the pitch to your boss. Your welcome Danny. I will do an update as soon as they get stock back in. All boats have been flying out of the store as soon as they hit the floor and they are never in stock as of right now.
For a jon? For a first boat? Aluminum jon boat with no leaks, and a decent motor. If familiar with 2 stroke engines go with a 2 stroke the parts a very inexpensive but they require more love and care. But if you treat them right they will last longer than any 4 stroke as long as it’s not air cooled. All the Japanese brands are good. Yamaha,Suzuki, Honda, tohatsu, etc. mercury is good. Evenrude and Johnson are good.
@@stonedaleks5171 That's what I want to do. I have a 1984 25hp evinrude that I'm going to replace everything from top to bottom and get a grizzly 1448 to put it on. Love 2 strokes.
2:50 you would run a boat like that with just a bow mount trolling setup? I wonder what a 2.3 or so HP outboard would do. I kind of want a 1648 Grizzly. Still just throwing around ideas, though.
Yeah if you want a good starter boat to get out there fishing with plans to put an outboard on it I would definitely think about one of these with just a trolling motor would get you fishing. It doesn’t hurt to think about or envision what your boat would do. I’m doing the same thing with ideas.
Never owned a boat before but decided to take up fishing in my retirement. I have no desire for large fast boats. I've kind of decided on a Jon boat for it's stability. 14-16 ft., 4, maybe 6 people & 20-30 HP motor. My big question is: is it better or more economical to buy a bare bones boat and add the other "pieces" as I go or as needed, or is it better to buy a reasonably equipped " boat that's pretty well ready to go? I am assuming the boat trailer is included in the price of the boat. The other things I think I'd like is a trolling motor, a fish finder, at least one Pedestal seat, some storage for poles tackle boxes etc., but I don't need a live well as I plan on catch and release fishing. Also, It seems that in most of the videos I've watched the Jon boats do not have any lighting for dusk or dawn fishing. Is that usual? I'd be interested and appreciate your thoughts / recommendations.
Yeah most of them are stripped down and you have to add on stuff yourself alot of times. A jon boat is a great way to get out there on the water. I fished out of one for years and actually fished in a couple big boat bass tournaments in mine. I think your on the right track.
6 people is a lot for a boat, regardless of what the flyer says a 1648 isnt going to do that. as for stability, a deep V is going to be what you want, and they hold more weight. you can get used aluminum deep V boats, rigged, used at a boat dealer for a good price. boattrader.com is a good starting point. last year i got a 17' smokercraft deep V with a kicker and a terrova on it for less than 10k. great condition.
I dont know that twin troller is a $4000 bass raider with 2 trolling motor. To each his own. But I think I would rather have a bass raider with a wireless 112 thrust motor 36 volt trolling motor and it would still only be $2000.
@@TBassFactory I hope someday you get the chance to fish out of at Twin Troller. I am confident you would never compare it to a bass raider ever again. But as you said, to each his own.
That depends on what size boat your planning on operating so let's say your wanting to get a license to operate a 45footer on up to 100 ton vessel what boat should you begin on ? I don't think it'll be a 10/12/14/16 ft Jon boats would you. 😂
Good point, you can get what you want to operate. This is mainly pointed towards fisherman that look for boats at places like bass pro. When I was in my teens I know i wasn't looking for a huge boat to get on the water. I wanted to learn how to operate before I jumped in feet first into a bpatbover 10k. I guess its all about what your reasons are for a boat. Thanks bud
You didn't look at Bass Raiders, the Bass Baby, Pond Prowlers, the Predator or the Intruder 12, or, for that matter, a whole range of plastic jon boats like the ones you cover here. They are under $1000 and are easily modified. They are a lot better for the low budget beginner than the ones you covered in this video.
That definitely are cheaper and I have nothing aGainst them. I have caught some good fish out of a 10 scamp. I should do a video on the best plastic boats for beginners.thanks bud
My first boat was a 16-ft Ouachita that I bought for out of a Green sheet it was a 69 model and I bought it and six and 79 it was a 10-year-old boat and had a 40 horse Johnson on the back of it and I still run it today and over the 35plus years and I ran it I spent about $600 worth of repairs on it on the motor itself I would never go the Bass pro to buy a boat and motor Kenny's sporting goods you can go buy a boat from Kevin's sporting goods they'll outdo Bass pro and you still got money in the bank in the bank and in your pocket to put in the gas tank so you can go fishing for another year
It all depends if you are planning on being in deep water and bigger waves because a v or deep v would be better for that scenario. A flatbottom is better for run ing shallow water and is an all around great boat and can be modified very easily.
@@TBassFactory thanks I’ll look into the v or deep v.. I like the look of the grizzly boat but there’s probably a reason I don’t see many of them in my area
What, really I thought they were just about everywhere. I don't know what to tell ya bud. Possibly you can make sure which one you want and have it delivered somewhere.
hello can i pull a bayliner 25 foot with a 2012 infiniti qx56??? i need to know if i wont have any problems when taking it out of the water thank you so much anyone??????????????????????????
You should be able to tow with that. Most qx56s can tow 8500 lbs and have 400 horsepower with the v8. 25 foot is a big boat but it should be able to get the boat in and out of the water just fine.
I like the last boat the 16 footer. no need for anything bigger. maybe with a 25 horse on the lakes where I live. and no way will the others hold 7 or 8 people. they can claim that all they want.
If you buy a new Tracker don't buy anything below a Tracker Team 175 Series boat w/ at least a Mercury 60 ELPT outboard...! (Best overall value for the money...)
@@TBassFactory I know this because both my son & I both started with 1980's Bass Tracker II's. We both had to remove the interiors & do extensive hull repairs to repair the leaking rivets & heiliarc broken ribs on those flat bottoms...! I now have a Tracker Pro Deep V 16 & a Ranger 375V. My son then upgraded to a Tracker Team 175, loved it, & now has a Lowe Deep V Fish & Ski 175.
I like that your putting a plan together to go fishing. I like your dad is included. I would say if your just starting out maybe a used boat or even a 2 man boat like a pelican 10e bass raider. Those type boats are under the $1000 mark and hold their value if you want to sell later and upgrade. I started out on a used jon boat.
@@TBassFactory thanks. We have a canoe but you can’t stand up and it isn’t always as relaxing. And it’s my dads so when I’m older and have my own house I won’t have one. What used boats do you recommend?
I stopped at the Bass Pro shop in Orlando and was told by the salesman: Tracker/Outdoor World/Bass Pro does NOT sell Jon type boats any more. Period. So either your store is selling out, or my store lied to me.
@@TBassFactory I contacted customer service, they responded: Hello Jae and thank you for contacting Cabela's Product Information Department, I hope that is not the case. Were you able to get in contact with any other stores near your zip code? Have a great day. www.cabelas.com/shop/en/boats-and-atvs The link takes you to some general catalog page.
For that much more it depends if you plan on having that as your only boat. I wouldn't spe.d that extra money on the bigger one and you could use $600 towards trolling motor or batteries. I hope that helps bud
Buy the boat for your needs, don't worry about being a begginer. Get what you want the first time, and don't look back, and any boat sold at BPS, is highly suspect.
Hoping to be able to get the 1648 grizzly, am 18 and wanting to buy my first boat, don’t know if they’ll let me purchase unless I pay in full, guess I’ll see
I hope you do if thats what you want. Depends on your credit history, and they usually ask for 5-20% down. That is a good boat, but there is always the used route so don't get bummed out if it doesn't work out. Don't put high expectations that you have to have the new boat because I would hate for you to get crushed if they turn you down. I hope it works out bud
@@TBassFactory hey buddy what if you dont have good credit to buy the bare hull and trailer let's say $ 6450 cost if I give 50% down would I be able to go through with it I know you don't work there but just your opinion
I really like a good utility boat but the new ones are so over priced. Imo but the open concept with the mini side console and a tiller handle engine are super awesome but a warranty on a utility boat do you really know of anyone that has ever used the warranty on a boat like this I bet not they are build very well and if you are buying a boat for a haul warranty I honestly think that you would have to drag this thing down the road to hurt it. They drop in price so much after new why not just buy used to begin with and rig your boat out the way you want to.
Your exactly right i believe they are overpriced too. I am just taking my time researching and trying to figure out what I want to build or buy. Used, new, new with nothing on it. There are so many options and being budget minded im just trying to weigh what would be the best bang for bucks. The security of a warranty is appealing but I'm not sure if that is right for me. Thanks bud
@@TBassFactory no problem I really think the all around utility boat like the ones you are looking at are for life type of boats and a great choice for being rugged lasting for ever and being very Customizable imo I think that a 16’ would be the minimal and 5’ wide for me. Have you seen tin boat videos or tiny boat nation videos they do some awesome stuff. if you are looking to mod a boat they are a great resource I have no Affiliation with them other than watching their videos.
Best boat for beginners is not a new boat. Do your research and buy used and rigged. Save your money and decide if you really are going to be a boat owner for any length of time. Then you can dream of the new boat and the expenses of rigging a new boat to your specs. Learn what you like and don't like on a used boat first.
The last place I would buy a boat from is Bass Pro. They will not negotiate price, the markup on their boats is substantial, and the one here in Mesa AZ can not keep competent marine mechanics.
I buy them with a motor on them! In 2013 I bought a tracker Grizzly 1754 jon with mercury 25 hp pull start outboard on it around $8,500 that also includes the $1,200 trailer! And in 2019 I upgraded to a tracker Grizzly 1860 jon with a mercury 60 hp power trim on it for $14,000. If you have a outboard lying around, just buying a jon boat and trailer may be the way to go!
I'm thinking about buying a boat for me and my brothers, but I'm slowly realizing that Jon boats that will comfortably hold 3 to 4 people and have room for camera setup is gonna be more than I originally thought
Hi first time here I need help I live in Bahamas and am looking for a used fishing boat in good condition can someone help me please I need to speak with someone on where to find one
Hey shashett. I wish I could help but I’m not sure I could really help as I’m in Texas and not even close to the Bahamas. I’m sure there are used boats in florida and possibly in your location
Am I missing something here? Why is that boat $22,000? There are several boats on the tracker website that are much better equipped, full decked bass boats for less than that.
I wouldn't buy any boat with mercury motor on it I bought a 9,9 from tracker at bass pro June 20 2020 used it 1 season wouldn't start this year has a 6year warranty that seems to be useless sitting at tracker waiting for them to try and fix it
Don’t buy a boat unless you already love to fish but just tired being on the banks. Most importantly, be honest with yourself about how much time you have to actually go fishing.
Yeah it depends which battery you go with. The aGm batteries usually run $200 but if you buy one marine deep cycle at Walmart acid lead they run about $90.
A used canoe/kayak. No sense in spending $25k for a 20mph boat with radar, sonar, gps to pull with a $50k truck all so you can catch a 3mph fish with four braincells that you'll throw back anyway.
Great video!

I have a 15 foot jon with a 900 jet ski engine in it and it does 40 at half throttle I know how much of an adrenaline rush that is.
give more info about the last boat and how to setup that was cool easy to tow with any simple car thank you for showing that
It all depends on how you want to set up. You would have to figure out what speed to operate at then decide on an outboard or buy a used outboard. Trolling motor would need to be at least a 24 volt or higher, and I prefer a foot controlled. Batteries should be deep cell. Fish finders and accessories would be at your own needs and wants. I hope that helps.. thanks bud! 👍
For me it was a 2015 Tracker Super Guide V16SC. Now I updated to a 2021 Tracker Pro Team 195TXW TE.
That is a nice boat you upgraded to. You definitely got a good boat. Im kind of jealous.
That’s what I’m looking at right. Out of the aluminum bass boats tracker seems to offer more bang for your buck.
@@hogwailingforbasswithpaulf727 it was for my first starter boat.
Weird question, but curious. Were you left or right hand dominant before losing your arm and what happened exactly?
Could you do a show on what to look for in a used boat?
I sure can. I was actually thinking about this very thing. Thanks bud
@@stonedaleks5171 so true that 2 strokes are cheaper
@@stonedaleks5171 That's what I want to do. I have a 1984 25hp evinrude that I'm going to replace everything from top to bottom and get a grizzly 1448 to put it on. Love 2 strokes.
good info,, what would recommend for bsy giding in san diego ca, limited on starage spce and thinkin of inflatable dinghy??
Pelican bass raider
Thanks i was looking for a boat now i know where can i go buy it
That is one of the best places just to walk through and see what they have. Your welcome bud
I was looking at a 1436 Jon vs a gheenoe 15.4. Gheenoe s used are the price of new.
@@TBassFactory Ok Thanks
6 people is a lot for a boat, regardless of what the flyer says a 1648 isnt going to do that. as for stability, a deep V is going to be what you want, and they hold more weight. you can get used aluminum deep V boats, rigged, used at a boat dealer for a good price. boattrader.com is a good starting point. last year i got a 17' smokercraft deep V with a kicker and a terrova on it for less than 10k. great condition.
I bought a complete set up on market place for $3000 . Went to the lake same day I bought it.
Now thats what I'm talking about joseph. I bet that felt good to get a boat and get out there.
Hi dear do you need help getting a boat
I have a 2019 tracker Grizzly 1860 jon tiller with a 60 hp, it has plenty of horsepower, but I think it can handle a 75 hp tiller
I would think so, thats a nice boat and that bigger motor would make that thing fly.
Without a doubt, the Twin Troller X10.
@@TBassFactory That's what I'm trying to do, but I cannot find a bass raider ANYWHERE! Isn't the 112 thrust motor bow mount only?
Looking for a starter boat was thinking about tracker ! Can’t wait to get out on the water with one of these bad boys if the Lord wills.
They are sweet looking boats with a good warranty. That will be awesome if you get one. Lots of good fishing in your future. Thanks bud
Same brother
Are they good for hunting?
Oh yes they are, it kind of depends what type of hunting you ard planning on doing.
@@TBassFactory waterfowl hunting.
Thanks bud
I have Same thought process. I assume those prices include trailer?
Yes sir they sure do. As a package
They all end up brining same price when equipped?
No that’s the price for what you see.
So for 1500 I can stop shore fishing? Thanks man! Now I need a truck! Haha
Yes sir, its a different world getting away from the bank sometimes. I still like bank fishing tho
Do these prices include the trailer because the website is different? Thanks
Yeah, they include the trailer. The total weight of the package is including the trailer as well. I hope that helps bud
You should do a vid on what you would bring with for a tournament if you could only bring 1 bag and 4 rods
That is what I have always done for the most part. That is an awesome idea bud.
My first boat was a 16-ft Ouachita that I bought for out of a Green sheet it was a 69 model and I bought it and six and 79 it was a 10-year-old boat and had a 40 horse Johnson on the back of it and I still run it today and over the 35plus years and I ran it I spent about $600 worth of repairs on it on the motor itself I would never go the Bass pro to buy a boat and motor Kenny's sporting goods you can go buy a boat from Kevin's sporting goods they'll outdo Bass pro and you still got money in the bank in the bank and in your pocket to put in the gas tank so you can go fishing for another year
That’s awesome. Yeah those 70s boats were some good ones.
@@TBassFactory NO NOT THE ( 1970'S !!)

Would this hull shape serve me better that a v or deep v?? I will be on the Colorado river mostly and lake Meade.. as I live in southern Nevada
Bass tracker classic 12k

What, really I thought they were just about everywhere. I don't know what to tell ya bud. Possibly you can make sure which one you want and have it delivered somewhere.
I wish you had turned around and priced the trailers to go with that 14 ft. jon boat.
Yeah I’m. Not even sure what the prices are on the trailers but it would be good to know.
hello can i pull a bayliner 25 foot with a 2012 infiniti qx56??? i need to know if i wont have any problems when taking it out of the water thank you so much anyone??????????????????????????
You should be able to tow with that. Most qx56s can tow 8500 lbs and have 400 horsepower with the v8. 25 foot is a big boat but it should be able to get the boat in and out of the water just fine.
I like the last boat the 16 footer. no need for anything bigger. maybe with a 25 horse on the lakes where I live. and no way will the others hold 7 or 8 people. they can claim that all they want.
Yeah that’s crazy how
Many people they say can fit in one of those. I agree 16 is perfect
Of what I can tell, this would be a good video but unfortunately your audio isn't good. Have you done something on v-hulls
Yeah I didn’t even mean to make a video on that day. Sorry about the audio. I’ve worked on a couple v hulls.
@@TBassFactory thanks for the reply. I'll have to check out your videos
If you buy a new Tracker don't buy anything below a Tracker Team 175 Series boat w/ at least a Mercury 60 ELPT outboard...! (Best overall value for the money...)
That is great to know. I want to see a classic. Still haven't seen one of those around. Thanks bud
@@TBassFactory The classic is a basically a flat bottom Jon Boat... It'll pound your ass on rough water and will ultimately self-destruct...!

Do they make a 12 foot Grizzly?
I havent seen one at bass pro yet, but they just might. I know they make a tracker topper which is basically the same as a grizzly for the most part.
I stopped at the Bass Pro shop in Orlando and was told by the salesman: Tracker/Outdoor World/Bass Pro does NOT sell Jon type boats any more. Period. So either your store is selling out, or my store lied to me.
That is the weirdest thing I’ve heard that a store is doing

would you go with a 1436 topper or a1542 topper for $600 more?
For that much more it depends if you plan on having that as your only boat. I wouldn't spe.d that extra money on the bigger one and you could use $600 towards trolling motor or batteries. I hope that helps bud
This is my style 🍻
Oh yeah, I agree with ya.
I want a small boat that can be put in back of truck or on top of SUV that I have to paddle or use small motor
Yes, I like that. If you can get it into a truck bed then you can pretty much fish anywhere.
Buy the boat for your needs, don't worry about being a begginer. Get what you want the first time, and don't look back, and any boat sold at BPS, is highly suspect.
Yep that is a good way to approach it. I like that ken
" if you're going to make the payments, get exactly what you want " - Grandpa
Grandpa was very wise
overlooked issues on boats, leading to years of trouble-free and SAFE boating: 1. full foam floation. 2. zero wood construction.
no matter how much or little you spend: it's too much to 'throw away' or to put additional money into repairs later.
Those are 2 issues for sure. Those boats can be quite expensive too. Thanks Kurt

Yes sir it is a good one
I like a 16ft Jon boat
Me too
I really like a good utility boat but the new ones are so over priced.
Yep, good way of looking at it. They always say the best day of owning a boat is the day you buy and the day you sell it. Lol
Thai Canadian or usd price

The last place I would buy a boat from is Bass Pro. They will not negotiate price, the markup on their boats is substantial, and the one here in Mesa AZ can not keep competent marine mechanics.
That does not sound good at all. I have heard so many good and bad things pertaining to the boats at bass pro.
What’s a board? You keep saying you can add a board, for a beginner I don’t know boat language, maybe you can make a video about that!
Ha, I am saying outboard which is the engine. Sorry if I was confusing
2022 the prices have all gone up.. inflation.. and the monthly cost is way way up.
Yeah it’s crazy how everything has gone up across the board.
Has anyone else thought of buying a new boat without a motor?
Yes actually one of the ones you showed in this Video
Where can i buy this ? Im in California

Why is that boat $22,000?
There are several boats on the tracker website that are much better equipped, full decked bass boats for less than that.
90 hp motor is a good chunk of that money. A 25hp costs around $4000.
