I have owned a 1990 Bayliner Capri, 2000 Capri, and now own a 2022 Bayliner VR4, I have enjoyed these boats immensely. I have taken them offshore, used them for skiing and wakeboarding, fishing (although the VR4 not so much for fishing). The 90 had a Force engine that I wore out and had rebuilt, the 2000 Had a Mercury 125 that after 10 yrs I repowered with a Mercury OptiMax, (I loved that engine). All in all I think back that was some of the best money I ever spent.
I worked at white river marine group .. nitro , triton and ranger is the same .. as well ranger and regency pontoons , sun tracker is in bolivar missouri . Nitro and triton is made in Clinton plant in missouri where as ranger glass is made in flippen Arkansas in midway Arkansas legend boats was made but tracker discontinued them closed it down all molds made in Miami Oklahoma at the tahoe / mako plant than shipped up to Clinton and flippen r&d is at basspro warehouse Springfield door 111 few years back they purchased a yatch place in new bern North Carolina for mako and ranger center console off shores . Kayaks all furniture is made in Lebanon mo fuel tanks etc aluminum boats for tracker ranger is Lebanon as well . Tracker also owns a console molding place in town makes consoles for lowe ,g3, landau
I got a 1993 Mariner 150 2 stroke on mine. No oil injection. Mix the oil directly in the fuel tank. Only use rec90. Water flush with earmuffs and run gas out at the end of day. Have not had any mechanical problems in about 10 years. And that was not related to fuel. Had to replace the distributor.
My 16’ stonington skiff made in Stonington Ct with a 6’ beam is the perfect dry stable with 3 ft sides is a perfect skiff oh and a 25 evinrude good for 30mph
Sunbird the crossmembers main stringers under the floor nothing was glassed in. Cut out the shit and new wood and 10 gallons of resin later I have a solid boat.
Thanks forgetting to my question. I was so grateful to hear you like Carolina skiff I just picked up a sea chaser 26lx. I’m glad I went with that over the bulls bay that didn’t even make the list.
I had trouble selling my 14ft Mckee Craft even though it was a absolutely awesome boat and built really strong. Now i have a 17ft Mckee craft center console also awesome quality that i'm selling because i'm ready to upgrade again and i believe it will also take a long time to sell this one. To bad more people don't appreciate how good they are.
As far as bass boats go Ranger and budget don't go in the same sentence. They have been one of the most expensive for 30+ years. Budget bass boats would be skeeter, nitro, triton & falcon.
This is a little off topic but I need some opinions. I am currently running a 1987 Mercury black max 2 stroke 150 hp the max hp for my boat. I found a a dealership selling 90 hp 2024 four stroke Suzuki's for $7,999 that's just the engine no install and I'll need cables and controls so I'm probably looking at closer to $10,000 to repower. Is a 90 hp going to be powerful enough for a 19' 2800lb boat? It's a 1996 Bayliner trophy 1903 CC. Right now the previous owner said it hits about 50 to 55 mph with two people. I don't need to do 55 mph I would be happy with 40 to 45 mph would the 90 hp 4 stroke give me that? I want that dependability but I don't want it slug of a boat. My other option is way less expensive and what I'm leaning towards. I'm thinking about buying a Mercury optimax fuel injected two stroke. I'm finding them for $2500 to $5,000 with like 350 to 400 hrs. Then all I need is cables. But that brand new engine is so enticing. Was the black.max a dependable motor? My black max has really good compression on all cylinders but being a old engine it's hard to trust it.
Agree that some value boats are cheapened further by covering them with cheap accessories. Parker is a good boat because the hull is solid and she rides good as a first priority. Also agree with the Sportsman take. I worked at sportsman for a while and it's a lower tier boat for sure. Grady-White was at one time the best around. But they continued to put wood in their hulls and transoms until recently when they went to coosa. Be careful buying a used Grady. . Great content, as always, thanks1@
Why is Action Craft never mentioned ? Seems like everyone ignores them. I’d argue they ride just as well as any classic flats boat, super solid and dry ride. My flats master 1810 stays dry in 2 - 3 foot if you know how to run the boat right. I know they dont compare to some of these super light skiffs when it comes to draft but I also trust my action craft running off the beach when the wind kicks up vs any ultra light skiff.
Wish I could have got your opinion on Cape Horn. Like where you would rank them. I know they are built super well but have very few frills. Not sure how their price point compares to others tho.

I’ve been looking around for a new boat, not sure if you’ve seen the 2024 sportsman boats, from what I have seen their fit and finish is way better than sea hunt, the lids are finished on both sides and gaskets, also they don’t have to cover up where the gel coat meets with a sticker
Half of those nameplates probably are owned by the same corporation, save small ones like Parker. The corps tend to make each nameplate upper, middle, lower tier etc.
Arron how could I pay you to consult for a purchase I want make I would like to have a 15 min conversation . Should I rebuild and repower a 1987 proline that I o. Should I rebuild a 1987 pro line cc repower or just buy a new boat ? Part of me wants to rebuild then I think some more and I think I’m just going to put too much money into an old boat I want to buy A 250 hp suisuki . Should I buy a new seachaser cc or rebuild id like to rebuild to get your ideas . I love your show . Jim Schulz Wallington , nj

Do a chart of the brands how you would rank them in quality.

Robalo is a good mid level boat with great layouts, Yammy power and great ride. Only better is stepping up to BW, GW, Pursuit, Scout Everglades.

People in the know who do the research will know McKee craft is in the same class as Grady white and Boston whaler. One off just budget priced.
I loved those old McKee's. Always wanted one. Like having a Whaler without the Whaler price tag.

Hope you do a video on offshore fishing boat trolling motors, brands, shaft lengths, different type of lithium batteries
Working on that yes ;)
About sea foam, do you also not like it for 2 strokes? My mechanic friend has been pushing me towards the mercury additive, but I've been stubborn...
I'm more favorable to the Mercury Quicleen or Yamaha Ring Free than I am the Seafoam
I drink an ounce of 2 stroke oil once a week and haven't needed a doctor for 10 years!. 😂
Great podcast!
Lol

I think skeeters start out at 50-60k I'm probably way off. But bass boats like that get expensive very quick.
Thoughts on Release boats?

Is a 2000 sailfish 216 a good boat?

That will be awesome if you can make an extended video with a tier list of boats on center consoles

I think the video and audio are out of sync by a half second or so
Something’s not right🤔.
