This is my favorite video to date. Several seconds of an empty bothy while Ralfy goes outside to find his glass that fell out of his pocket into the moss by the steam he jumped over was about as real as it gets. This is why I love this channel. Anything can happen.
I sometimes wish Ralfy would show more of the bothy, ,including the fireplace. Its beautiful

Signatory have to be applauded for keeping their pricing keen for the presentation.
Well,... perhaps for the ucf-editions. The cask strength versions have certainly experienced hefty price increases in recent years, especiall for everyhing over 10 years of age. 😐

I really salute the lower scores, from what ive been noticing some people watch your videos, skip to the end, see if its maybe 88,89,90,91 and buy these bottles immedeatly of the shelves without listening to you, and spread around:" oh its a 90 ralfy, a must buy". ive skipped so many 90s. from you and bought alot of 85s or so. Its about what you saying. like with the edradour balleching cuvee i think you gave it a 85 or 86, its bonkers and i love it, and while listening to you i knew its my type of whisky. some are just little scavangers grabbing everything they see thats shiny^^
Just wanted to thank you, Ralfy. Over the years you showed me a new facet of life, Whisky-related and beyond, no more, no less. I enjoyed a lot of great Signatory bottlings, mostly at cask strength, and I think your evaluation is justified.

Here in the US Signatory is about the most widely available IB we have. Love most of their stuff.
Mmm not quite in Florida . Gordon mcphail. Is more widely seen.
Spec’s has bunches of them here in Texas.
Hey Ralfy - great video as always. I was surprised to see that two of my favourite Indy bottlers didn’t make the short list for the OSWAs though. Murray McDavid and Little Brown Dog. I’d throw in Woodrow’s of Edinburgh to that mix along with The Whisky Broker. All outstanding Indy bottlers. The recent Mortlach from Woodrow’s was incredible. PX Finished Ardmore from LBD an absolute delight. Whisky Broker puts out some great drams, no frills at a remarkable price……
In Canada in the last few years I have bought bottles from Douglas Laing, Duncan Taylor, Hunter Laing (First Editions), Gordon & Mcphail, and recently Signatory, off the shelf at the local provincial liquor stores, LCBO (Ontario) and SAQ (Quebec) Havent seen any of the others you mentioned...yet!

On my last visit to Edradour(2019) we got to spend some time talking to Andrew Symington at the distillery shop. He's quite a fellow. Very engaging. We talked about Signatory offerings and he arranged a tasting for us. We bought several bottles that day and I've purchased several since. Everything I've tasted has been fantastic. Quality across the range. Will continue to seek out their bottlings. Sadly they have closed the Edradour distillery to tastings and tours. Cheers!
It is astonishing that distillers don’t want to put natural colour or non chill filtered on the bottles even if it is true. So many people are asking for this. Nice video and informative. Cheers sir.

I have a few of these signatory bottling, they are really well priced for what you get, some are really good and some are just good but not had a duff one. The only problem now is the secrets out.
I have just bought my first independent bottle from the Polish Gentlemen's Lounge. The thing's called Angel's Whisky and is an integrity 46% Highland blended malt. It is young, 7 yo, but the colour is intense, hinting at vibrant sherry casks. Very much looking forward to uncorking it before long! Cheerio!
I've been fortunate to find several great Signatory bottlings in the U.S. at the better liquor stores in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, and where I currently live in Texas. In fact, the large chain of privately-owned liquor stores here in Texas called "Specs's Wine, Spirits, & Finer Foods" has several special Signatory, Edradour, and Ballechin bottlings. In fact I have a 10 YO Mortlach from a special Spec's-only vatting of 4 ex-Bourbon barrels (stated clearly on the label along with "natural color", "un-chillfiltered", 46% abv, and 2008 vintage). I'd say Ralfy's tasting notes from his batch are quite similar as this batch that was shipped to Texas - although this one has some more assertive Bourbon barrel notes (creamy vanilla, coconut, and clear oakiness) that make me think they were first-fill ex-Bourbon.

Uncut, unscripted Ralfy! 🤣🤣🤣 We get Signatory releases here in Texas, but the range of choice is relatively limited. What we do get here in Texas is everything Balcones releases, and because of Ralfy's advice to buy what's unique to you and your market, my love of Balcones has grown and grown over the last 2-3 years. Bought a bottle of their single-cask blue corn whisky finished in wine barrels today (fantastic) and a second bottle of their single-cask cask strength Oloroso sherry malt (100% belter) and thought about Ralfy the whole time I was in the store figuring these purchases would get his approval. 😀 Cheers, Maltmates!

Signatory/Edradour/Ballechin For me simply the "Holy Trinity" By the way Sir,just finished your third book.I have to say the best yet.Wonderfully written and in parts very moving (I wiped away the odd tear if truth be known)

I bought the Signatory Eduadour 10 46% in Houston. Just happened to have the Eduadour 43% open when you did the comparison video. The Signatory version was much better

Lots of Signatory available in the US, the cask strength line in particular is well represented. They have been my go to premium bottle for the last 10 years.
and today we have a missing glass by Ralfy prior to a review, haha... fantastic oops moment of the night. Thanks for not editing the video and giving us a " fully natural presentation". 👏👏👏

A brother in law is in the UK now on business and is picking up a bottle of this from a store on my behalf (currently at 49.95 Sterling right now). He'll be dropping it over the water to me within the next week or so. Can't wait to try out what will be my first true single malt scotch whisky having only really had Irish up to now - Jameson/Redbreast/Connemara etc. Can't wait to experience non-chill filtered and non-caramel-ised.
I want also to highly recommend Ralfy's books as I have done in a previous comment because they are really uniquely written, witty and intelligent and just great fun. I finished 'Search for a Whisky Bothy' and have just started 'Stories from a Whisky Bar'. They actually go really, really well with a dram, just saying...

Here in Singapore, its easier and cheaper to buy Signatory IB than G&M. Lots of entry level Signatory bottlings of Cao Ila and Mortlach

Great review as always Ralfy! I just picked up a Signatory cask strength 13 year Bunnahabhain in the States. Needs time to open but I think it will be a nice pour for me for the next year.
I recently got an unchilled edition of Linkwood by Signatory, best scotch I had all year. It was the 2010, aged 11 years and finished in charred wine casks. You would be thrilled with it.
There’s a Gordon & MacPhail Linkwood 15 that’s available near me… thinking I should pull the trigger
I am happy to report Ralfy that Signatory is remarkably available where I live, although I do have to drive from Wyoming to Denver Colorado. I also frequently buy Signatory from TWE out of England. I have hundreds of bottles of Signatory, my favorite independent bottler since I got in to the hobby 10 years ago. You are, and always have been, my favorite reviewer Ralfy. You are spot on about OB Mortlach, so I appreciate an independent take that much more. Your reviews are so good and guide me often to what I buy. Thanks for all you do Ralfy!!! Slainte!

Midwest (Chicago) USA, Signatory is relatively available at most large specialty shops.
First fill sherry cask Caol Ila 8 cask strength from signatory has been one of the best whiskies I've ever tasted, so rich. Love signatory for the chance to try something OBs will never offer at such a reasonable price
Loved their "unchilled" 8 year coal ila.
This is nectar of the Gods for me. I absolutely love the 2009 vintage and couldn’t get enough of it when I was in Speyside last month. I disagree with your mark but agree with your logic. Keep up the good reviews.
I found the Mortlach 14 year (Travel Retail Exclusive - But easily available through retail in Europe) to be very enjoyable. I maybe even liked it better than the official 16 year old bottling.
Ralfy, I read your books. Very enjoyable to say the least, very easy reads. Got all 3 of them for Christmas, read them all in January. Like a dork, I read them with highlighter in hand, marking what I felt were great quotes by you. I think the most memorable one was so true, especially today: _"Workers have to manage because managers refuse to work."_ Or something very akin to that.
Ella is definitely a memorable character, she ended up getting what she deserved. But I felt Sanny was perhaps the most misunderstood (not by you, but just generally speaking). After all he was who put you on your path toward your destiny. I wonder what became of your old barkeep James after he left for Thailand. So many characters.

I have not seen any Signatory in Arizona unfortunately and I only see the standard offering from Edradour. However I was able to try Adelphi Ben Nevis 5 year old aged in an Oloroso cask. It was truly amazing wow. Young whisky can be so great if it's put into a great cask and this was proof. Now the only question I have is how that Ben Nevis would have tasted if it was like 12 years old. Would it have been mind blowing or would the cask have dominated it completely?

Youve enlightened me once again Ralfy. Really? Filtering scotch that is at a low temperature because of the seasonally low ambient temperature allows you to state non chill filtered on the basis that the liquid's temp wasn't altered by the bottler!?! That is ludicrous. It should be agnostic of human manipulation ie. scotch filtered at a temp below X cannot be labelled NCF. That surely deserves a rant.
And what do we learn from this, ladies, gents and everyone else in between (remember: inclusive)?
That one should always carry at least two Glencairn glasses at all times!
