Just got this tool myself. I found info about whether it has a variable speed trigger hard to come by. To be clear, it has both a variable speed dial and a variable speed trigger. Very handy
Hi, What are the differences between the older, more expensive DJV182 and this newer, cheaper DJV184? Also the description for the 184 says "The variable 5-speed control dial (0-3,000 SPM) enables the user to match the speed to the application" and "large 2-finger variable speed trigger". Does that mean you can adjust the speed setting via the dial and the trigger, or is it like the 182 where only the dial adjusted the speed and the trigger pressure made no difference?
IDK what B type is. Just bought the tool and standard Makita and e.g DeWalt blades - that I suppose are T-shank - fit it. Don't know about plywood cutting sorry, there are wood blades that say it's for plywood too, but of course it depends on the plywood (pine and birch e.g. are quite different). Some about 75mm/3inch blades might be fine. Maybe check out Makita website.
This 182 has a slightly longer and faster stroke and therefore is at a higher price point. The 184 is a replacement for the 180 which is intended to meet the needs of most professionals at a more attractive price point.
I love it. Got it because it's lighter. And when the blade is inserted and you're using it, the blade is nice and tight and won't wobble.
Has it got a blower on the front?
Those Makita power tools do make you feel like a kid again. They're grown up toys.
But daaaaaaad I want it. Wait. I don't have to ask dad. *buys*
@gazm2k5 😅. Right.. just hoard them. The more, the better

Thanks so much. I have been looking for that information myself. So the dial at the back works as a limiter for max speed?
Oh, good to know. Was hesitent on buying DJV182 version because it did not have variable trigger. Does the newer DJV184 have a blower?
It does seem to have a built-in blower too. Based on description from SydneyTools
@ Yes, it does have a blower. A quite effective one too.

Yeah. That's my question as well. I stayed with djv 180(brushed motor) because 182 didn't have variable speed in the trigger
when are they releasing a 40v jigsaw?
Waiting for it myself along with the 40v drywall gun, they answered my prayers the 40v nailgun already..lol
Good news for you today
👍
Keep em coming Makita ! 40v + toolless baseplate please!
Were can I buy the makita 18 volts jigsaw (DJV 184)
Why didn’t they make the baseplate tool less? Smh
Yeah I agree.. it's well over due. Come on makita !
True. So annoying!! Otherwise amazing apart from that.
Can you purchase the brushless Makita jigsaw at the Depot
What blades are compatible with it? (B type, T shank?) What is a good blade size and type for basic plywood type cutting?
IDK what B type is. Just bought the tool and standard Makita and e.g DeWalt blades - that I suppose are T-shank - fit it. Where can I can I order this makita cordless jigsaw djv 184z
This thing is so damn light. Bought it yesterday. Really like it but wtf do I have to buy the dust port separate!?
It should be in the box, we sell it included
The most important question is whether or not this one can be set down without it falling onto its blade
Is there going to be a barrel grip version?
Probably not of this version
Thanks. 🙏🏼
Nice review. Is this better then DJV181 ?
is it better than 182?
