Variable speed trigger is way better than the stupid buttons. As far as design, learned on a barrel grip so I prefer that. Much better having your hand down closer to the material IMO.
New 18v brushless D handle jigsaw has no speed control in the trigger , one thing they could have kept . I also prefer D handle , mainly if it slips from hand it stops , always better with tools that stop , when trigger is not pressed , same with angle grinders , rat tail/paddle switch is safer on a tool thats designed to cut anything front of it , specially new ones that can stop the blade . I have looked at Festool barrel grips , mainly because hardware store is selling older corded ones for half price , still not enough , specially when Festool Carvex needs tons of accessories, base model makes only 90° cuts , adjustable shoe sold separately.

It's beginning to feel like Makita is now being run by bean counters who don't understand their products. I understand cost management, but you can't have premium prices with budget features
The barrel grip is really good for coping so I will likely pick this up. I have the hikoki/metabo HPT D handle and its a great tool makita has been a little slow to the market on some tools. Most of the time I prefer a D handle jigsaw but with a coping base the barrel grip is best for that. Its just awkward to hold a D handle upside down
Correcting myself it has a built in blower that is always on. I've put a copeing foot on my Milwaukee I find I can do 90 degree cuts easily enough makes the jig so much better cutting inverted. As for dust collection I use the hose and move it along the cut line.
Also I wish they put a second set screw on the baseplates. it’s too easy to knock the base out of square. Only takes one drop. a positive detent on 90 would be a nice little touch too.
Really? I mean, it’s alright but not very powerful. I’d like to try the newer brushless d handle but I’m transitioning to Metabo/hikoki after makita abandoned the 18v. Bashtards!
This is getting out of hand. My bosch 12v jigger is a beast. I'm sure an 18v is more than enough. Why? At what point does the unnecessary never ending consumption stop?
Shouldn't people on the 40v system be able to have a jig saw also in the system? Or do you want them to have two battery systems? Wouldn't that just increase consumption even more?
@boberson83 I'd bet most who are buying into these 40v platforms already have 18v systems. I've seen several videos where the 18v tools outperform the 40v stuff. Some torque test channel shows the bosch 18v destroying the 40v makita. My opinion, seems like gimmick marketing. Perhaps the 40v is useful in certain tools but the 36v makita stuff is all running the same voltage and 18650 cells. Again, bosch 21700 18v packs are out performing makitas 18650 40v stuff. You clearly don't use many high drain tools.
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL The few that might make sense for that are probably the ones big enough to justify a 2x18v, like a chainsaw. I could see makita doing a 2x40v in future like dewalt does a 2x54v
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL I’d say it’s a pretty massive fail. when I’m at work with all the things Iv gotta think about I don’t wanna have to think about what makita battery fits my makita tool. I just wanna grab and go.. you know. Like the 18v has been forever. it’s just poor design.
made in the Uk?? what the deuce? since when? 😂
The best jigsaw makita made was the original lxt version before the first brushless one with the annoying soft start and even more annoying on button. terrible tool.
The one you say is the best... is made in the UK...
@@ToolsAndStuffOFFICIAL is it a kiwi thing calling the pendulum the orbital thingamajig?
