Overall I'd say this huge rebalance of the weapons is a great move but Medics will be left wanting in CQB with their rifles. The new Fedorov Avtomat, the Cei-Rigotti & the M1907 Sweeper are still good choices for you in CQB but most of the other semi-auto rifles are now squarely balanced for mid to long range fighting. As much I was hoping it would happen it still doesn't matter. I have trust in my Model 10A Factory to cancel out much of those 50+ service star Hellriegel users.
The 10A Factory fits my play style as I'm very close quarters oriented, and I like to kill guys in a "One and Done" fashion. I actually started to use this gun primarily because I was tired of getting killed by the numerous amount of Assaults in matches who only run the Hellriegel. I'm doing pretty well with it so far with 9 service stars and counting. The Slug variant has so much potential as well. I hope they fix it too because often when I use it, you mainly had to hipfire it to get the shots to register. The quick-pop-shooting rarely works, for me that is, with this gun.
I may not have the cte but anyone can agree that a hellriegel buff wasn't need it, it was pretty good in that state before(too good I think) But overrall I think this patch is the best so far, I like playing with lmg but sometimes is very frustrating to use simply because anything can outdamage you( except for some mediocre medics, pistols and mediocre scouts) I think DICE is going in the ight direction with this patch
Proxicat, yeah, or a slower firerate, or the actual magazine that was used in the thing, a 20 round box mag, and the defensive should have its 60 or 120 rounds mag,
Assault and Medic should switch guns. There's no reason for assaults effective range to be so close. The entire point of the class is to take out tanks, and the main tools to do that are the AT gun and grenades, both of which are medium to long range weapons. It makes more sense for medics to be close quarters meat grinders reviving and healing dead teammates, and for assault to be in the back taking out vehicles on open, vehicle oriented maps. It's especially stupid that the AT class is the most powerful pick for maps with no vehicles, like fort and argonne. I think this change would effectively fix the problem you brought up without having to go through the process of buffing the medic rifles again and again and again
DiabeticVelociraptor I see what you mean, but the difference is the average engagement distance. In BF4 the AED was more medium range, making Assault rifles the most powerful guns in the game. BF1 on the other hand is much more close quarters, meaning smgs and shotguns take center stage. It would actually be more like BF4 if medic and assault switched, because it would once again be giving medic the most effective guns in the game. Not only would this fix class balancing issues, it would mean more people would be medic. It kinda sucks that the most useful class is one of the least played classes in the game, and it's only going to get worse with the next patch

Why are the console CTEs and the PC CTEs so different. I've been on the CTE for console since it's launch and I've not only seen less maps, but also I don't believe those changes are there
DINGO Because DICE has to certify every update for the Xbox One and PS4. They have to follow a process designed by Sony and Microsoft, whereas on PC with the Origin client (owned by EA), they can push updates live much faster :)
There's one problem: if the medic rifles are getting a nerf, that means less medics. That's not good, especially in game modes where revives and medical assistance plays an important role.
People are complaining that the Hellreigel is so op but it's not that good in comparison to the MP-18 and the Ribeyrolles. They're much butter when put in the hands of an experienced player. The Hellreigels only bonus is the 60 round mag.

Clan and I were playing last night(I love BF )on pS4 ---- Went 44-6 on conquest.... The 6 times I was killed were ALL Hellreigel --- We actually kept track in 2 hours of gameplay. 75% of deaths were from the Hel.......NERF NERF NERF
It's about time that LMG's are now able to be more competitive as it is my most used class and a lot of the weapons on there I have struggled with and now no more I can finally have more fun with them rather than struggle with them well done DICE and thank you for this video so helpful keep it up there hasn't been a video I've missed yet since the game came out.

Are you guys kidding?!?! The 1906 was and still is fun and satisfying to use, and I beat people in CQB all the time with it! Yes, I get killed by the autism that is the hellriegel and automatico, but that is only at close range and you can expect that with broken, overpowered guns.
so do scout rifles up close. I never use sniper, marksmen but only infantry rifles with ironsights and except for M95, there is no single rifle which can do reasonable body damage upclose. Lebel and SMLE are kina okay. I only play aggressive with scout rifles, never camping, and am pretty good at it(have 10k kills with only infantry rifles, less than 100 with sniper rifles), but i can't even kill 20 per round easily with for example G98 because it does freaking 60-72 dmg up close, while doing 100 dmg 100m away. Stupid balance for DICE.
5:00 forgot the model 8 variants. They already had the best TTK of the medic class at 42 meters and below. Medics can also use their sidearms like the auto revolver to kill as fast as an automatico under less than 6 meters (2 hit kill)

I understand, there are a lot of ways to own with other classes and guns, but not so many ways in close quarters battles...at least for a standard player. If you are skilled enough you can win even with a melee weapons :)
Bland? The Lewis and Huot are the main two LMGs I loved using. The Lewis's steady rate of fire and damage has made its position as my number one favorite LMG in-game almost absolute with the Huot and Chauchat being the only two that have come close to dethroning it with the Huot being the more likely of the two to do so. The Huot I actually often have come to view as more a Assault Rifle then a proper LMG with how it functions. I am also glad to see they're fixing those frigging shotguns as I hate how often it seems people get one-shots off at a range that shouldn't allow such a thing to happen.
KOOL-AID-MAN not really. It gets out done at close range by automatic and shotguns, it gets outdone at range by the other three classes. All this buff does is makes it a better "all round" weapon. However, I haven't used it in the Cte so I may be wrong. And if it is op then stop complaining, and use it.
Sweet! Shotguns broke last patch so I'm happy they've re worked them :D I did a test where I shot some guy 6 times, only did 20 damage. He wasn't even moving and I was in a knife takedown range too.
I'm going to make a case for all kit bolt action infantry rifles again, based upon the fact that they are continuously increasing the effective range overlap between classes. Before people argued that the rock paper scissors system regarding range was a reason against bolt actions, but this system is being continuously degraded to a point where LMGs and Semi Automatic Rifles at least can outrange and consistently compete with iron sight bolt action rifles.
TinnedTommy they need to rebalance bolt action rifles again... I would personally reduce the length of their sweet spots but give them the ability to one shot people in cq, like they did in bf4 and bfh... aggressive recon is impossible with this new patch
I personally would have never used sweet spots and given more rate of fire variation as well as ballistic variation and different CQ 1 shot ranges. I feel like sweet spots only exist as a gimmick to make very similar rifles feel more different. Really DICE, in my opinion, has never really wanted aggressive recon to be successful as it would be a kick in the teeth to the majority of their players who like SMGs and similar weapons.

In fairness I actually did in Hardline what I would like to do in BF1, with an ironsights Springfield, changing kit for the gadgets and different sidearms, and aiming for headshots or using my pistol since the Springfield couldn't kill in one hit to the body.
Aggressive recon should be done with aggressive weapons, not bolt actions. It just looks and feels really dumb when Bolt actions rifles are beating SMG's and shotguns up close.
For everyone complaining about the fucking Hellriegel buff, take in consideration these guns are much more viable compared to it now: -Every LMG -Every other smg except the automatico. Don't you fucking realize that fewer btk affect high rof weapons less because of SIMPLE MATH. The hellriegel is the least benefitted weapon from the buffed guns along with the MG14 parabellum. Yes it's overused and will always be till they remove the auto rotation from the game, but the other guns, that didn't really appeal much because they were outright worse than the hellriegel, will now be much more viable.
Probably. I am assuming you haven't played previous Battlefields and instead switched from CoD to Battlefield. These changes make the game competitive and get rid of the casualness which plagues it.
They are going to still be useful. What are you talking about? But now we have weapons to counter them. It's annoying getting sniped from a guy far away and getting you LMG or semi automatic rifle to shoot back and miss a lot of your shots because of things like random bullet deviation. Now the gun play will feel more balanced, instead of getting sniped and not having much to counter them with.
Stupid if you can't counter snipers with that laser LMGs then you are Bad. Maybe try Out CoD or Red Orchestra where Bolt Action rifles kill one Shot all ranges.
So where am I in these mythical games where you "had nothing to counter snipers"? These cats must be playing a different game because medics and support have no problems with supression. I use scout the majority of the time and medics/supports suppress me more than other scouts.
This is going to be a good change up. The amount of times while playing Support Class and my Mercie Storm isn't doing the damage I'd hoped, so this will help a lot :)
The hellriegel should have gotten a nerf to its effective range and accuracy, so as to take away that gun's ridiculous power at range when compared to other smgs. Why use a mp18 that is dedicated to medium range engagements, when you can use the hellriegel and be more or as effective at all ranges? Ridiculous that it's getting a buff along with the automatico.
Why would you buff an SMG that is already OP af ? (i.e Hellriegel). It just doesn't make sense. But I guess that this patch will bring others in line with it, which could increase the variety of assault weapons that you see being used.

It's far too accurate at range for an SMG. Plain and simple. I got 90 kills with it in one game, with about 70 of those being from range. An SMG just doesn't have the right to compete with rifles and LMGs at distance. Don't get me wrong, I like 90 kills in a game, but it's just a bit broken imo.
too many worried about the hellreigel buff when the overall meta is being changed so much it wont be a problem. I always thought BF1 had me shooting unrealistic amounts of bullets into people. If this shortens the time to kill im all for it, it will make the game grittier and less arcadey
Play hardcore if you want fast ttks and semi-realistic amounts of bullets shot into people. At least a 30-06 round kills a player in one shot instead doing flimsy damage unless its shot at VERY specific distances.
The need increase damage, hip-fire accuracy, and tweak the bullet deviation to make the SLR's competitive after these changes to assault in particular.

Would be nice if they could make less smoke come out from the gun barrel while shooting. It can sometimes completely block your vision. Feels like just another random element.
I remember when I stopped playing battlefield 4 because of school and stuff. When I came back to it, it felt like the same game I've been playing. When I go back to Battlefield 1, it feels like the game gets turned upside down every few months with updates and weapon balance checks. I miss when Battlefield wasn't so "liberal".

I am stating a fact while you are only screaming "HELLRIEGEL OVEUSED!!! DICEPLS NERF!!111!! It's easy to counter and it will be easier after that patch. It needed a damage buff to not become useless.
CapCamGaming The setting is an excuse that does not work, it has no effect on being able to choose your attachments or at the very least which sight you wish to use.
This game is set in the early 1900s not 21st century. Even most of the firearms shown in BF1 are considered new and state of the art at that time, so attachments were actually quite rare. Scopes were expensive and only given to trench snipers, believe it or not.

As an optus client (Australian network) the latest update with adding Lupkow Pass has preventing me from playing a proper game. If I could connect to one I would be in it for maximum 10 minutes until I suddenly loose connection with very little lag and I can't reconnect. Anyone else the same?
I think tanker guns (excluding the frommer auto and sawed off shotgun) should be available to the medic as a close range alternative. Maybe even assault too since it already fits the theme. I'd love to use the pilot guns but I never can given the rare circumstance that I don't go down with the ship
Why is the new max damage model for the 12g automatic decreased? From what I can tell, all of the shotguns listed on-screen have their damages increased.
I have no idea why they buffed the hellriegel as it certainly doesn't need it. Good to hear about the shotty changes though i think it's still by far is going to favour the A10 hunter. Once it's on console CTE i will be testing it out and see how the weapons are changed

My answer to the Medic in CQB has always been the Auto Revolver. Love that thing!
Selbstlader 1906 and the No.3 Revolver is also pretty great.
Yeah, i like the C96. It's not as good as the Auto Revolver, but it is nice.
The hip fire accuracy with the Auto revolver is amazing

The automatico and the hellriegel should stay the same in my opinion, they are melting players easily enough already.

The medic weapons should have decreased recoil and the spread in movement and maybe increased bullet speed.
Dice shouldn't have improved the hellriegel or the automatic at all. The guns already kill way to quickly.

Medic rifles should have a damage increase aswell. Its not going to be fun using a 1906 against an autonoobico (well, nothing is) after this patch.

so do scout rifles up close. I never use sniper, marksmen but only infantry rifles with ironsights and except for M95, there is no single rifle which can do reasonable body damage upclose. Lebel and SMLE are kina okay. I only play aggressive with scout rifles, never camping, and am pretty good at it(have 10k kills with only infantry rifles, less than 100 with sniper rifles), but i can't even kill 20 per round easily with for example G98 because it does freaking 60-72 dmg up close, while doing 100 dmg 100m away. Stupid balance for DICE.
5:00 forgot the model 8 variants. They already had the best TTK of the medic class at 42 meters and below. Medics can also use their sidearms like the auto revolver to kill as fast as an automatico under less than 6 meters (2 hit kill)

In another commit you said it was the worst SMG in the game and now it is usable. If it was the worst damn SMG then why the hell does 70% of the player base use it before this patch? People naturally gravitate towards things that are stronger and make them win more, if it was as broken as you say it is, no one would have been using it. I understand, there are a lot of ways to own with other classes and guns, but not so many ways in close quarters battles...at least for a standard player. If you are skilled enough you can win even with a melee weapons :)

Bland? The Lewis and Huot are the main two LMGs I loved using. The Lewis's steady rate of fire and damage has made its position as my number one favorite LMG in-game almost absolute with the Huot and Chauchat being the only two that have come close to dethroning it with the Huot being the more likely of the two to do so. The Huot I actually often have come to view as more a Assault Rifle then a proper LMG with how it functions.
I am also glad to see they're fixing those frigging shotguns as I hate how often it seems people get one-shots off at a range that shouldn't allow such a thing to happen.

KOOL-AID-MAN not really. It gets out done at close range by automatic and shotguns, it gets outdone at range by the other three classes. All this buff does is makes it a better "all round" weapon. However, I haven't used it in the Cte so I may be wrong. And if it is op then stop complaining, and use it.
Sweet! Shotguns broke last patch so I'm happy they've re worked them :D I did a test where I shot some guy 6 times, only did 20 damage. He wasn't even moving and I was in a knife takedown range too.
I'm going to make a case for all kit bolt action infantry rifles again, based upon the fact that they are continuously increasing the effective range overlap between classes. Before people argued that the rock paper scissors system regarding range was a reason against bolt actions, but this system is being continuously degraded to a point where LMGs and Semi Automatic Rifles at least can outrange and consistently compete with iron sight bolt action rifles.
TinnedTommy they need to rebalance bolt action rifles again... I would personally reduce the length of their sweet spots but give them the ability to one shot people in cq, like they did in bf4 and bfh... aggressive recon is impossible with this new patch
I personally would have never used sweet spots and given more rate of fire variation as well as ballistic variation and different CQ 1 shot ranges. I feel like sweet spots only exist as a gimmick to make very similar rifles feel more different. Really DICE, in my opinion, has never really wanted aggressive recon to be successful as it would be a kick in the teeth to the majority of their players who like SMGs and similar weapons.

In fairness I actually did in Hardline what I would like to do in BF1, with an ironsights Springfield, changing kit for the gadgets and different sidearms, and aiming for headshots or using my pistol since the Springfield couldn't kill in one hit to the body.
Aggressive recon should be done with aggressive weapons, not bolt actions. It just looks and feels really dumb when Bolt actions rifles are beating SMG's and shotguns up close.

For everyone complaining about the fucking Hellriegel buff, take in consideration these guns are much more viable compared to it now:
-Every LMG
-Every other smg except the automatico.
Don't you fucking realize that fewer btk affect high rof weapons less because of SIMPLE MATH. The hellriegel is the least benefitted weapon from the buffed guns along with the MG14 parabellum. Yes it's overused and will always be till they remove the auto rotation from the game, but the other guns, that didn't really appeal much because they were outright worse than the hellriegel, will now be much more viable.
The auto loading 8.25 extended is the best medic rifle at close range except for the fedorov

They are going to still be useful. What are you talking about? But now we have weapons to counter them. It's annoying getting sniped from a guy far away and getting you LMG or semi automatic rifle to shoot back and miss a lot of your shots because of things like random bullet deviation. Now the gun play will feel more balanced, instead of getting sniped and not having much to counter them with.
Stupid if you can't counter snipers with that laser LMGs then you are Bad. Maybe try Out CoD or Red Orchestra where Bolt Action rifles kill one Shot all ranges.
So where am I in these mythical games where you "had nothing to counter snipers"? These cats must be playing a different game because medics and support have no problems with supression. I use scout the majority of the time and medics/supports suppress me more than other scouts.
This is going to be a good change up. The amount of times while playing Support Class and my Mercie Storm isn't doing the damage I'd hoped, so this will help a lot :)

The hellriegel should have gotten a nerf to its effective range and accuracy, so as to take away that gun's ridiculous power at range when compared to other smgs. Why use a mp18 that is dedicated to medium range engagements, when you can use the hellriegel and be more or as effective at all ranges? Ridiculous that it's getting a buff along with the automatico.
Why would you buff an SMG that is already OP af ? (i.e Hellriegel). It just doesn't make sense. But I guess that this patch will bring others in line with it, which could increase the variety of assault weapons that you see being used.

It's far too accurate at range for an SMG. Plain and simple. I got 90 kills with it in one game, with about 70 of those being from range. An SMG just doesn't have the right to compete with rifles and LMGs at distance. Don't get me wrong, I like 90 kills in a game, but it's just a bit broken imo.

too many worried about the hellreigel buff when the overall meta is being changed so much it wont be a problem. I always thought BF1 had me shooting unrealistic amounts of bullets into people. If this shortens the time to kill im all for it, it will make the game grittier and less arcadey

Play hardcore if you want fast ttks and semi-realistic amounts of bullets shot into people. At least a 30-06 round kills a player in one shot instead doing flimsy damage unless its shot at VERY specific distances.
Is it just me or does it seem that the higher caliber guns on tanks and other vehicles take just as many hits to make a kill as a smaller caliber smg?

The need increase damage, hip-fire accuracy, and tweak the bullet deviation to make the SLR's competitive after these changes to assault in particular.

Would be nice if they could make less smoke come out from the gun barrel while shooting. It can sometimes completely block your vision. Feels like just another random element.

I remember when I stopped playing battlefield 4 because of school and stuff. When I came back to it, it felt like the same game I've been playing.
When I go back to Battlefield 1, it feels like the game gets turned upside down every few months with updates and weapon balance checks. I miss when Battlefield wasn't so "liberal".

CapCamGaming The setting is an excuse that does not work, it has no effect on being able to choose your attachments or at the very least which sight you wish to use.
This game is set in the early 1900s not 21st century. Even most of the firearms shown in BF1 are considered new and state of the art at that time, so attachments were actually quite rare. Scopes were expensive and only given to trench snipers, believe it or not.
Guess those of us who mainly used LMG's before are in for a treat.

As an optus client (Australian network) the latest update with adding Lupkow Pass has preventing me from playing a proper game. If I could connect to one I would be in it for maximum 10 minutes until I suddenly loose connection with very little lag and I can't reconnect. Anyone else the same?

I think tanker guns (excluding the frommer auto and sawed off shotgun) should be available to the medic as a close range alternative. Maybe even assault too since it already fits the theme. I'd love to use the pilot guns but I never can given the rare circumstance that I don't go down with the ship

Why is the new max damage model for the 12g automatic decreased? From what I can tell, all of the shotguns listed on-screen have their damages increased.
I have no idea why they buffed the hellriegel as it certainly doesn't need it. Good to hear about the shotty changes though i think it's still by far is going to favour the A10 hunter. Once it's on console CTE i will be testing it out and see how the weapons are changed
