They took the name Santa Mira from Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
The Mask making was filmed in the real Don Post Studio's the company that make the Captain Kirk mask that they used to make the Shape Mask in the first Halloween.
The orange goop inside the Androids was Orange Juice concentrate.
The movie ending was also a nod to Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
For all its flaws I still love this movie.
Trick or Treat Studios make the Pumpkin, Skull and Witch mask.
If anything skip Halloween 5 that piece of crap Makes Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 look Oscar worthy. The only people dumb enough to like Halloween 5 were its crappy slate of secondary actors and the incompetent director.

For an Irish community look up Inwood in Manhattan. It was once an unofficial “Little Ireland” with a thriving Irish bar scene, then evidently over the last few decades most of the Irish population moved to the outer boroughs, but there’s still remnants there, bars and Irish owned groceries where you can get imported chips and read the newspapers from Dublin.

The original plan was to have the sound of children's death screams during the end credits - meaning that Dr. Challis failed. However, this was vetoed (not sure if by the studio which feared a bad reception, or the director who wanted to keep it ambiguous). Tom Adkins, who played Dr. Challis, has said that he thinks that he saved the kids, for what it's worth. Love your reactions to these movies. Personally, I enjoy Halloween 3 much more than 4-6, which I think are a waste (I grant that 4 has some moments, especially its ending). Best wishes and Happy Halloween 🎃

Halloween 4 I love more than this I mean it's Michael Myers but this was weird and interesting I can deal with it not having Michael Myers but Halloween 4 is back to normal which I understand why there's no anthology.

    • @83shadow3
      @83shadow3 3 года назад

The movie studio wanted a solid answer to if he saved the kids. The Director on the other hand he wanted an ambiguous answer. The Movie studio wanted the director to change the ending. But John Carpenter ask him if you wanted to change the ending . He said no I want to keep it ambiguous so John. Told the movie studio there was going to be no changes to the movies ending. So they went against the movie studio. This movie only gave the movie studio the Halloween 3 part. In the name or title like they wanted in order to get the movie funded. Other then that it was hands off movie studio. Its what the director an the ones working on the movie want only. Just like the original Halloween the movie studio had no say about what happened in the movie.

    • @83shadow3
      @83shadow3 3 года назад

But after this movie the guy that had the rights. To the Halloween movie franchise would do sneaky stuff. That went against what the directors and writers and stuff wanted. Like the end of Halloween H20 he realy did that sneaky behind the scenes stuff. Last minute to keep Michael Myers alive behind everyone's back.

This actually one of the best stories apart from the first Halloween film. I like the fact it got nothing to do with Michael Myers. The fact it concentrates on Samhain and technology. The important of Sacrifice. I love the ending of the film where you don't know if they managed to pull it off or not. Yes so the main character is sort of anti hero. The music by John Carpenter is amazing. Very much feel of Vangelis / Stuart Copeland. Highlights how pagans festivals and Christian festivals in General have succumbed to capitalism. One of my favourite Halloween films of all time.

I think the people who hate H3 are a bunch of whiny cry babies. It's a great film for what it is, and infinitely better than Halloween 2 and 4. or 5. At least Halloween III wasn't a cash in like all the others. I pity you for watching all the series in one go. It took me 5 years, on and off, to get through them all. Also, I think you're wrong about them using the original Halloween film to ''p*ss people off''. That wasn't the intention at all. They had to use a film for the TV scenes, and Halloween didn't cost anything to license as they already owned it. This was a very low budget film and cuts were made in every corner. I for one, saw this film not knowing that Michael Myers wasn't in it and I loved it as a separate film. It's easy to say that they should have carried on with the Myers storyline, when this was made 40 years ago and third sequels were a new thing at the time, never done before and they thought people would think they were ''milking it'' if they carried on. But there you have it.

    • @ScaredPale
      @ScaredPale  3 года назад

I don’t think they included it for the purpose of pissing people off. But the common complaint is that Michael Myers isn’t the focus so to have the movie in it is such a tease. Even if unintentional.

Oh yeah the creepy relationship between the main duo is one of the worst things about this movie especially on rewatches. So unnecessary, creepy(50 year old and a 20 year old, that's how gross this is), and it makes it look like plain infidelity. Also makes the main character look like he uses the girl's grief for her father to make a move on her so yeah just dumb and pointless. But yeah the concept of this movie is pretty cool and I enjoy watching it from time to time except for the creepy couple, those scenes tend to ruin it so just gotta skip those scenes if I can lol.

After they made the first two Halloween movies, which basically continued one night's events, they decided that the "Halloween" title should be use for other supernatural stories, all set on Halloween. When they movie didn't do very well, they decided to go back and go more about Michael Meyers instead of making up new Halloween stories with each movie.

Back when this movie aired on tv, I believe I was out trick r treating with my dad, maybe, and my brother and mom recorded it from tv because I really wanted to see it. I always remember my brother didn't think I would like it as Michael wasn't in it. I recall always loving this movie. Yes, it's silly and goofy. But there's just something about the strangeness that has always appealed to me. I do see the logical gaps in movies, but with some I guess I can just see them for what they were intended to be: zany. I've always had this one of my 2nd favorite of the series right after the original. Then again, there are things in the original that comes off as odd to me as an adult.
Really hope you enjoy(ed) the rest of the movies. You've already seen them many moons ago, but watching you react to them I have a feeling that one of my all-time faves isn't going to be your cup of tea. A lot of Halloween fans hate my 3rd favorite of the series. I shall continue to watch your reactions until the last one just too see what you think even if you reply to any of my current comments. I just want to see your take before I come back here to chat...if you choose to chat in the comments. I'll probably take a day here soon to binge the rest of these... :)

Not only that, but back before VHS, Universal printed money re-releasing Halloween 1 & 2 in theaters every October.
They wanted more Carpenter Halloween, but Carpenter hated Halloween II, and wanted Mike’s story to be over. But he was also a fan of the weird British “Quatermass” movies, and when he tried going Anthology, he got Quatermass’s Nigel Kneale to come up with the first story.
Now, if only a reactor would do “Quatermass & the Pit”…

After Halloween, carpenter, and debra hill wanted nothing to do with ANY sequels with Myers. Carpenter said he planeed on ONE halloween, and that's it. From then on, he wanted to make an anthology series. He wanted to do a creepy movie every halloween. People were expecting another MIchael Myers movie, when they realized there would be no Myers, this movie bombed, and obviously his anthology ideal was thrown out the window. The guy/robot who dumps gas on himself, then lights himself on fire is dick warlock, the guy who played Myers in part 2.

  • @rael2099

    Oh, look!
RUclips algorithm recommending me your Halloween reactions in succession.
    I'm disappoint on you, Syd.
    This movie is awesome, lol.
I saw it when I was a teen and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I too am analytic a.f., although with horror movies I got to suspend belief a bit. Although when I lost all belief in the supernatural and the religious, it's become really tough to feel anything with horror movies nowadays. This movie holds up for me because of all the elements it uses are cool.
Yeah, Cochran is Irish, the actor is Daniel O'Herlihy so the last name is kinda telling, lol. He's the corporate boss in RoboCop 1 and 2, if you don't remember.
Not all movies got to have character development, and in this one they give you more than enough to know how the are. For example, the main character, we know he's an alcoholic, and likes to sleep around. He flirts with his co-workers so we get an idea. He's not a perfect human being, yet he's a loving father and husband; he has flaws but he wants to stop evil from happening, so does the girl.
The fling is not unexpected, or at least for me, I saw it coming.
So, it's more like character exposition more than development so development won't interfere with the pacing. Carpenter does that a lot.
    I love the atmosphere.
It's exactly the same as the previous films, they share that direction, the ambience, the cinematography, the acting, the pacing. All respecting John Carpenter's style of filmmaking.
This is more a supernatural horror movie, not a slasher one because of the theme, and it's justified. It uses the origin story of Halloween properly to develop a super natural horror movie, and now I feel it was a lost opportunity that we didn't have a series based on Halloween rather than sequel after sequel of Michael Myers.
I liked the picturesque characters, they add levity, and I think this film is creepy enough to be part of Carpenter's Apocalypse trilogy, tbh.
    P. S.
I was thinking about the Cochran name, now I relate it to cockroaches. Bugs are part of this film. Weird, I say.
Also, another hospital killings, as in Halloween 2. The guy at the gas station at the beginning is the same guy at the end.
I liked the icky robots. From the start you know they don't act normal. I thought they were more supernatural like Mike Myers.

This was supposed to be the start of John Carpenter and Debra Hill(mainly Debra Hill) restarting and revamping the series as an anthology series with each entry loosely connected like the, "Cloverfield" movies. This obviously never happened. Michael's story was supposed to end after Halloween II(1981) really after the 1st movie, but the very angry people spoke and spoke loudly, so they brought Michael back for, "Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers(1988).....the beginning of the infamous Thorne Trilogy.

Fun Fact: Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is not the original title, it only had the title of Season of the Witch because Halloween movies was supposed to be an anthology not a Franchise

Yea now imagine watching this movie as a kid and how it would traumatize you. FUN FACT - this was supposed to be the start of a Halloween Anthology of different Halloween stories but I'm guessing this movie might have bombed and received a bad rep because of the dark storyline of the cult trying to kill a bunch of kids on Halloween night. But in the end this movie became a cult classic for many fans. I mean who could ever sleep after hearing 'Happy Happy Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, Silver Shamrock 🍀🎃💀👹' lol.

Honestly, this is a HUGELY misunderstood movie of the series purely because it didn't have Michael in it. Because God for bid, they did something original and not the same thing over and over and OVER AGAIN! Considering people now say "Hollywood is so unoriginal! Come up with something original!" I will always point this movie's backlash as to why we don't see original material or new stories or ideas. Different scares people. And I believe they should've gone with the anthology angle for the rest of the series instead because H2 killed Michael, everything after was either meh or shit. And then maybe you could bring Michael back for 1998 or 2018 if they feel like maybe it's time to bring him back for old times sake and then move on.

Halloween saga can continue to be viewed in various ways..
.First, we musr considee that 3 different plot lines or continuities emerge from the original film.
Living aside part 3, parts 4,5 and 6 continue the line of chapter 2, bit ,this time without Strode..
Halloween H20 came out in 1998 ,it is other continuation of Halloween 2 and does not take into account the other films.it has a sequel called Resurrection.
There are also the remake of Rob Zombie,2 movies.
In 2018 came out the continuation of the original with out condidering part 2,that is the current film series

I have the Scream or shout Factory collector's edition of this. Movie in audio commentary for it the director explains why. It's call Halloween 3 Season of the Witch he says it's because. The movie studio basically said no Halloween 3 in the name or title. No funding for the movie and no movie. The Director would have preferred it to be just called Season of the Witch. But they called it Halloween 3 Season of the Witch to get the movie studio to fund the movie. Basically they whore blackmailed into the Halloween 3 part in oder to make the movie. The mask play a majer role in it they are the trap. The chip is the part that kills the free prize is the bait. Heres how it works the bait the free prize giveaway. The kids whare the mask the trap armed with the chip. The leathel part of the trap the kids whare the mask to watch the commercial for the free giveaway. The trap goes off the commercial has the signal in it. That triggers the chip on the mask then they an possibly others around them Die to. Without the mask the trap does not work. After this movie when the movie studio said we want to bring back Michael Myers. In Halloween 4 John Carpenter sold his half of the rights to Halloween an Michael Myers. Becuase he never intended for Michael Myers to main part of Halloween. It was supposed to be an Anthology series. The only reason John Carpenter worked on Halloween 2 is basically it was in his contract. But Michael Myers was only supposed to be in the first movie only. The movie studio made it about Michael Myers. So when movie studio said they want to bring back Michael Myers in Halloween 4. John Carpenter sold his stare and walked away. Because he was done with Michael Myers after the first movie. Until he came back for Halloween 2018.

Halloween 3 isn't a bad film, but it has a lot of problems that keeps me from loving it as much as others do. I can't like it when considering it part of the Halloween universe, as it makes no sense if you try to apply it anywhere in the Michael Myers' multiverse, unless done so as a complete stand-alone. But I do like it better when looking at it as just simply "Season of the Witch", as opposed to "Halloween 3".
The biggest problem I have with the movie is the characters. I'm just not as invested as I am with Jamie Llyod or Laurie. But I will give credit that the villain is amazing, even if his motivations are questionable. No, seriously, his motivations are a literal giant ? mark just waiting to be filled. But he's still amazing every time he's on screen. Even his death scene was amazing.

Considering the ending's a direct reference to the 1978 Invasion of the Body Snatchers' ending, I think it's safe to say that there was no happy ending here. Which is fine, a well-written unhappy ending can be phenomenal . . . but Season of the Witch kind of coasts by on a borderline stolen final scene, after a relatively underwhelming film. Like you said, the score's an absolute treat and the robots, their kills are impressive enough but it just doesn't save the movie from being a flop and one of those "I've seen it once; never need to watch it again, though."
Still, in spite of not being a fan of the movie, this video was worth watching for your commentary. Nice to hear well thought out criticism, than just "bleh, no Michael Myers!"

I think this movie stood no chance in 1982. Slasher movies were *the* popular horror genre at the time and people really wanted to see Michael Myers return. So there was a lot of outrage and feelings of being cheated by audiences, and they responded to the film by staying away. The producers could have saved themselves a lot of grief by simply renaming it to "Season of the Witch" and not trying to fit it into the Halloween series. That said, the reason it wasn't a direct sequel was that both Debra Hill and John Carpenter still had some control over the franchise and outright refused to sign off on a direct sequel. So producers were left with a choice between making this or nothing, so they chose this. (FYI: The reason the film called Halloween 3 is because that's the name of the Silver Shamrock masks. There's three of them and so they're called "The Halloween 3") I think the film is a lot of nonsensical fun and plays like a REALLY demented episode of Goosebumps, but I can also see people being a bit bored. It's got long stretches of nothing happening and it's so vague about what it's about for the first two-thirds that your attention wanders. I think it's more fun to rewatch than to watch, if that makes any sense. Also, I love Tom Atkins and H3 legitimately feels like a Carpenter film, so there's a lot for me to enjoy. Glad you watched it.
You'll never ever get that song out of your head now lol. I first heard it almost forty years ago and it will still occasionally pop into my head and stay there for days.

No funding or movie whatsoever so they whore basically blackmailed. Into calling it Halloween 3 Season of the Witch to get the movie funded. The movie studio made it part of the Halloween series. Even tho they knew it had nothing to do with Michael Myers. They still try to cash in on the Halloween name. So thats on the movie studio.
