Fun fact: the original ending for the movie wasn't so ambiguous. The credits we're supposed to be accompanied with the screams of dying children, so you got lucky for the kill count

I'm so sad they didn't keep Halloween as an anthology. Now it's a series that people look at as a dead horse. They definitely should have started with subtitles. That way when the 3rd was called "Halloween: The Silver Shamrock" or something people wouldn't have been mad. They could've even stylized it so that the "Halloween" part of the title was small and centred above the subtitle and was identical on each poster for the series.

The worst part is, considering that the original plan was apparently to give each successful villain a potential spin-off series, there's no reason we couldn't have gotten more Michael _and_ this anthology series. Honestly the biggest issue was that they called the second movie "Halloween 2" and not just something like "Michael Myers Returns" or "Michael Myers Strikes Again"; that way this movie could have been "Halloween: Season of the Witch" and people would have been less confused.

Well, that didn't quite work with the Friday the 13th series, though...
The 4th movie was litteraly named "The Final Chapter" which it wasn't, of course. But at least the title implied that Jason had actually died at the end of that movie.
But as soon as they go and release part 5, "A New Beginning", people still got pissed that there was no fucking Jason in that movie! So much, to the point that the producers had to completely pretent that part 5 never happen, just so Tommy Jarvis wasn't a psychopath and Jason could return as an OP zombie in part 6.

Cochran is one of my favorite villains. I love how jovial he is, even when he is defeated, he gives credit to his enemy for getting the best of him.
This movie has an overall solid storyline. The only plot hole is the way the shamrock buttons are created with the stone from Stonehenge. I even liked the fact they added a nice mention of planets aligning since it has a lot to do with the myth of Stonehenge.
It's the same with Jason. They were going to do different killers for the other Friday the 13s. But since the movie did so good he got to stay as the killer

it's a cool theory but is most likely not true. the halloween franchise doesn't take place in the season of the witch universe, and not just because of that commercial. the series was meant to be an anthology, and even though it didn't work out, season of the witch is still in a different timeline
A Halloween movie that is based partly on the holidays ancient celtic origins and horrific child sacrifice is never a bad thing. This movie was genius.

The one thing I really hated was the whole 'Ellie was replaced by an android'
It just seemed to pad out time and if she was bad why didn't she stop him before he destroyed everything

Halloween as an anthology series would've been a truly neat thing to see. Honestly, the franchise probably would have been better that way. Wish it would've happened, even though I hated this movie at first it was pretty decent and bold. Plus, Tom Atkins is one of my favorites! So great here.

this movie is a perfect example of why you should judge something for what it is, rather than what it could be.
This Movie COULD be a great michael Myers film, but it wasn't so people hated it.
But what those people missed is that this film IS an amazingly graphic film that features good characters, great kills and it's a plot that doesn't take itself too seriously (And with a plot like this one, you wouldn't want to take it too seriously)

Micheal Myers along with Jason and Freddy are like the Nike swish at this point ..the most recognizable and loved faces in the history of horror, to this day it has a massive cult following. Halloween series would have died immediately if they went with this idea, every movie would flop.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Shape as much as the next guy, but when we could've have gotten more of this instead of sequels and reboots and sequel reboots.
I have seen this movie maybe 6 or 7 times and I’ve had multiple different reactions to “Paper Cochrane” ..I’ve definitely laughed with my brothers as a young kid, and been confused as an adult and even occasionally scared.
The end is an unforgettable Meme and a classic Twilight Zone style stinger all rolled into one.
I prefer the sequel...THANKSGIVING.

The soundtrack fits the atmosphere of the tone and story of the film, the story itself, plot, and its characters were all unique, it's suspenseful, the cinematography was great, and the ending goes against all the Horror cliches that are synonymous and way too common in the Horror genre. Now, since you're a "smart" Halloween fan with great preferences. Tell me more about how Halloween: Resurrection that featured a rap star all of sudden becoming a "master" martial artist after 5 minutes of watching a movie able to use said skills to overcome a notorious serial killer was so great. Do please enlighten me.
Wglass90 I literally lovedddddd this movie for what it’s worth even though it has completely nothing to do with the Michael Myers story line. The plot was just great and the feeling of suspense in the movie had me with chills. This movie was definitely better than movies like part 4 and 5

One of the things that gets me in this movie is how quietly people are violently murdered. No screaming, no freaking out, just politely dying without a peep.

I remember watching this before watching any of the other Halloween movies (first two). No idea why. Watched it with my mum one night when we fancied a movie. The Silver Shamrock theme was being sung by us for years afterwards, until she sadly passed. Still love that theme.
