Hitman is an underrated gem and easily the best romantic comedy of 2024. I appreciate how daring the ending is and how it leaves our leads in morally dubious territory. We need more movies like this.
It was quite excellent! It felt like a great blend of dark comedy, romance and crime. It could’ve been a hit back in the late 90s and I like movies like that. Huge thumbs up from me! 👍
I first saw Glen Powell in ‘Scream Queens,’ where he portrayed a frat boy named ‘Chad.’ You can imagine how obnoxious he must have been in that role. Haha. I always knew he had potential, but I didn’t realize the extent of his acting range. I’m honestly excited to see his future projects.
Watched it when it came out here in the morning, I enjoyed it. Maybe slightly overhyped from the festival but still one of the best of the year. Not that the bar is high. Powell and Arjona had fantastic chemistry. And I agree, I wish they’d shown more of Gary as a teacher and made the initial difference between Gary and Ron more prominent.
“Hit Man” is my #2 movie of the year. List subject to change. 👑#1. Dune: Part Two 🥈#2. Hit Man (Richard Linklater) #3. Love Lies Bleeding #4. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga #5. Challengers #6. Late Night with the Devil #7. Abigail #8. Civil War #9. Last Stop in Yuma County #10. ???
How could you have only a number 9 and 10 slot left for your top ten when you haven't seen all the years have had to offer? Kinda defeats the purpose of a top ten of the year if you solidify slots as you go along.
I love most of Linklater’s films. “Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood" is my favorite. However, “Hit Man” just didn’t click with me. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Keep being awesome Austin!
I also really liked him better as a teacher. His lessons were truly interesting. I also liked that his ex-wife’s pov turned out to be right at the end. Literally. Even though they disagreed.
I’m a huge Richard Linklater FanBoy so I will probably like this movie. Before Sunrise, BefoRE Sunset, Dazed and Confused, and Boyhood are all in my top 10 favorite films
So lets a murderer off , she goes on to kill her husband and rope him in to kill a cop , and they get a happily ever after ? That was the worst ending ever
This movie isn’t available on Netflix in my home country for some reason, but it will be released in theaters nationwide in two weeks. I’m confident that it will be more entertaining to see it in theaters.
I thought the movie started strong but didn't quite stick the landing. It almost felt like they ran out of time in the last 30 minutes or so and had to quickly wrap up the film.
SPOILER ALERT There is a scene in the movie where "Ron" finds out the femme fatale (if you will) confesses to killing her husband, and the transition Glen Powell does, going from "Ron" back to Gary was so great and hilarious moment that he's becoming one of my favorite actors out right now. The nerd part of me low key, would like him to play Batman one day or the Batman villain Hush lol
This movie was boring AF. Fell asleep to wake up to even more boring screen time. All and any of u think this movie is good is why Hollywood keeps dropping bombs
He is becoming that rom com darling, in just 24 month he has become from side character to movie star
no nicholas galatzine is the rom com darling
Well, he’s good looking, charming and talented so… it makes sense.
Man, Adrià was devastatingly hot in this.
I am hoping we see Glen Powell in Knives Out 3
Guess you could say this is another *HIT* for Linklater.
I don't remember the last time I watched a good movie as this simple yet quite delightful.
Adria Arjona for Wonder Woman please and now and you’re welcome James Gunn🙏🏻

I really liked when he was speaking introspective especially his last speech to his class at the end that shit was awesome

The Greatest Hits on Hulu was a pretty good one
Good list 👍
Hope Civil War manages to keep its place on your list by the end of the year. Great movie.
@@hanyolo2041 Oh, I think “Civil War” will remain on my Top Ten, albeit the lower half of the list. That movie is good, but could’ve been better.

Managed to see it in cinemas last week and it’s in my Top 3 of the year along with Challengers and Dune: Part Two
First saw Glenn Powell in Scream Queens and Im so glad he is gettting good roles
Underrated show imo
@@StealingWinter it was a good time for sure
Same here! 😄
Im doing my first director binge and chose Linklater. This had charm just like his others movies Ive seen. Good time.
I was told to avoid the trailer so this was not at all what I expected, going in. I loved it though
I love most of Linklater’s films. “Apollo 10 1/2: A Space Age Childhood" is my favorite. However, “Hit Man” just didn’t click with me. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Keep being awesome Austin!
Apollo is one darn good movie.
Richard Linklater is my favorite director who made my favorite movie. So I am very excited to watch this!
My favorite director too. Before Sunrise / Sunset, Dazed and Confused, and Boyhood are masterpieces
Me too!! The before trilogy are my favorite films. He’s a great director
I liked the movie but there's a LONG section in the middle of the movie setting up the romance that really dragged down the pacing. It never ended
Didn’t bother me as much, but I completely understand what you mean
Yeah definitely the weak point of the movie, but it was necessary for the story to work.
just finished watching it. i have to say i really enjoyed it. nothing too complicated. just fun and engaging. we need more movies like this.
I’m with you
I enjoyed the movie. It always a pleasure to watch adria arjona in a movie
Watched this with my wife last night and we both really enjoyed it. I also really liked that turn at the end, played out great for me.
I also really liked him better as a teacher. His lessons were truly interesting. I also liked that his ex-wife’s pov turned out to be right at the end. Literally. Even though they disagreed.
It was playing at my local regal so i watched it last tuesday for 8 bucks and loved it.
Awesome!
I’m a huge Richard Linklater FanBoy so I will probably like this movie. Before Sunrise, BefoRE Sunset, Dazed and Confused, and Boyhood are all in my top 10 favorite films
Iconic movies!
True fact: Adria’s Dad is from Guatemala and he is a idol all over Central America.
I loved Hit Man! Glen is amazing! ❤ Glen & Adria had great chemistry! ❤
Adria Arjona might be hottest woman alive and Glen Powell is the most charming guy ever
Anyone know the song that was playing during the dance scene in the club 61 mins in?
Something Hollywood needs actor with range and movie that is fresh.
Do u know why the girl in the trunk isn't out yet. Will u review it. It released 28 May but I can't find it streaming
So lets a murderer off , she goes on to kill her husband and rope him in to kill a cop , and they get a happily ever after ? That was the worst ending ever
Netflix finally made a good movie holy cow the 15 bucks a month finally went to some quality lol
This movie isn’t available on Netflix in my home country for some reason, but it will be released in theaters nationwide in two weeks. I’m confident that it will be more entertaining to see it in theaters.
I dont think this movie is made for theatre its not an action packed.
Its one time watch bro
Netflix it wont shown now its still playin in theatre
@@mohamedjunior9361 It doesn't matter if it's not an action-packed movie, every movie in the world deserves a theatrical release.
I thought the movie started strong but didn't quite stick the landing. It almost felt like they ran out of time in the last 30 minutes or so and had to quickly wrap up the film.
I love seeing Glen Powell rising as a movie star in last couple of years. I really like R Linklater movies so I am definitely gonna watch Hitman.
Hell yeah: steamy it was! (The chemistry between the leads was) 🔥
For some reason this movie isn’t out on Canadian Netflix:(
WHAT?! That’s wild
Is not on Netflix Portugal? Why
Austin burke are you going to review the watchers?
Bro Cooked Well
We saw it in a theater last week and loved it from start to finish. As you said, 'thoroughly enjoyable" . Great review:)
was it a hit, man?
edit: just watched it and can confirm that it was a hit, man.
The 1st half was decent, then it lost me.
Rye 2nd half took me away
After watching I need a Nice Guys Ryan Gosling, Hit Man Glenn Powell comedy movie
Shes the girl from Andor right? She a baddie fr
YUP
And Morbius😂Sorry I had to go there 😅
So was this movie based on a true story or not ? What really happened and what didnt. Did she get away with two murders ?
Loved this movie!!
I love romantic comedies ❤and I love this film ❤
Rom coms haven’t been good since the 90s
I disagree completely
Looks like an enjoyable film. Glenn Powell is always okay but don’t get the over the top hype about him.
SPOILER ALERT

Should've been in the theaters first and now! Just saying!
Hated it...contrived and subpar acting. Seems like women like it more than men. After 40 minutes I ran for an exit.
You mean an exit as in… The front door of your house? Lmao
This reminded me of American Fiction but not as good
best movie 2024
In my opinion I hated the movie the people who killed other people got away and had a happy life and that is just so frustrating
Well... the people they killed were kind of dicks, so it could have been worse
I thought he was playing a psychology professor. I liked the movie but the ending was lame
Great review, but I'll pass on this.
Utter Flop
Time wasted
🤢
loved it
Not good movie
I’ll check it out; happy heterosexual awesomeness month everyone 😊
This movie was boring AF. Fell asleep to wake up to even more boring screen time. All and any of u think this movie is good is why Hollywood keeps dropping bombs
If this was a bomb, i hope they keep dropping them for us to enjoy and you to complain
I’m actually bewildered, the tolerance for mediocre and overhype of the most mid movies appalling. Extremely boring, absolutely nothing was compelling
Utter Flop
Time wasted
