Quick note: HIT MAN is indeed playing theatrically in limited release now before streaming on Netflix starting June 7. Thanks to those of you who pointed this out, we added that in the graphics and the video description, just goofed during the actual review amid all the Netflix stuff we've discussed lately. So go check it out and enjoy!
Netflix bought it and grudgingly put it out in a very limited release in select cinemas. Depriving a very deserving film of the real prestige and wide exposure of a solid theatrical run…
I saw it yesterday evening. It's so good! This film is definitely a showcase for Powell as actor, co-writer, and a producer. And the chemistry between Powell and Arjona-wow 😳.
So happy to see Dave! Movie sounds like a blast. I was not into Everybody Wants Some at all, but you can't front on Linklater's ability to see talent on the rise.
Glad to have the chance to watch this in a theater and laugh along with the audience. Don’t remember a movie with so many laughs per minute. Sad so many are going to watch this at home a Texas Monthly piece with Linklater urges everyone to got see this in a theater. 9 million movie is going to be better than a majority of the vastly more expensive summer fare coming our way.
I had the chance to watch the film at Barcelona Film Festival. Linklater was there, receiving the Honour award...he talked about his filmography and cinema in general. And then we saw the movie. The audience was laughing the whole time. I really enjoyed it!!! Great dark comedy ❤
'8.8' 🤣🤣🤣 This is the only thing I don't get about Breakfast All Day. Why those decimal numbers ? It's like a competition between the two hosts "Who can be more precise .."
A great date movie! Glad I caught it at the Egyptian while visiting L.A. Linklater is one of my heroes, and Powell is a great collaborator in his current era. Powell and Arjona have excellent chemistry, but Powell also has great chemistry with his Everybody Wants Some!! alum Austin Amelio
Generally a fun romp, though the trailer makes out our protagonist as being in more dangerous situations than portrayed. Nonetheless, Powell takes the movie and runs with it, having fun with his disguises; Adria Ajorna is suitably hot as the femme fatale. A tiny alarm bell went off when her Madison blithely declares she's divorced per "Ron's" advice, where her abusive husband sounded like he would give her a hard time to the bitter end. A lightweight, palatable entry. And I'm afraid that I couldn't buy the final scene but it's a minor quibble. One of the better summer entries so far.
Movie sounds interesting! OMG haha- I was playing this whilst working and it sounded a bit like Alonso- the rhythm and intonation- I'm guessing they've been together quite a long time as they've probably picked up each others voices x
"Before Sunrise" and the whole trilogy are greatly underappreciated in his director catalogue and should be watched asap by those who haven't seen them.
I think if anything you guys are underselling this movie. It is perfect entertainment, up there with the best of directors like Hawks and Sturges in terms of comedy, while at the same time having a playful subversiveness worthy of someone like Bunuel. One of the best screenplays ever written, perfectly crafted to be mass entertainment, and its theme is about Nietzschean authenticity and moral anti-realism, not exactly the most accessible themes, but they make it work. It's the best film I've seen this year so far. I like the comparison to Something Wild. That's the only other film that mixes romantic comedy and thriller anywhere near as skillfully, but this film is even better. People applauded when it ended at my theater. It's a travesty that Netflix picked this up instead of a studio that would release it widely theatrically and on blu ray.
I saw this at NYFF and absolutely loved it. It plays extremely well with a crowd so it is very disappointing this didn't sell to a distributor that would've given it a wide release. I am happy Linklater got a nice pay day though... one of the best American filmmakers.
Love seeing Dave on the channel, and I’m excited to see it after the rave reviews coming out of the Venice Film Festival. I need to correct you guys (again): It’s playing in select theaters now, and will stream on Netflix starting June 7th.
@@BreakfastAllDay I saw that after I posted the comment. All good. You’re on top of it…By the way, I saw “I Saw The TV Glow” yesterday, & liked it a lot. Seeing “Furiosa” later this AM.
Glen Powell and Adria Arjona are so damn gorgeous that it really highlights how unfair nature is. In any case, I am stoked to see this movie, despite seeing such stellar examples of genetic perfection giving me an inferiority complex 😉 Thank you guys for this review.
Good review!! Glad you guys got so much out of this.. didn’t notice Powell was from Texas :o I just uploaded my review! My take is a little different. Check it out if you’re bored :-)
I do not like their chemistry. The banter should be volleyed back and forth with neither taking up too much time. Dave rants on too much and at times I find myself thinking "Where's Kristy?" I don't think I will watch the episodes w/Dave White.
@@cactaceous I see 3-4 movies in cinema every week. This is the first movie I wanted to walk out on in months. So yes I do feel strongly about it. It does not provide any deeper meaning or action or good acting. So what’s the reason for its existence. Completely forgettable. You defend it but you yourself will not remember this movie in few months time.

So glad you had fun too!
That one scene got so many laughs.
The leads kind of remind me of Celine and Jessie.
There’s a screening with Linklater (in the flesh) interview Q&A thing at the end and strangely there are plenty of seats.
Richard Linklater is one of my favourite directors (maybe my all time favourite) so I'm glad this one was good. Can't wait to see it!
I loved Boyhood
Mine too. 4 of his films are in my top 10

How fun! Love Barcelona.
His bad wigs reminds me of Mathew Rhys in The Americans.
Wasnt a fan of the morals in the two main characters. They got away with life insurance fraud.
Four films in my Top 10 favorite movies of all time are made by Richard Linklater. Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Boyhood, Dazed and Confused.
Great, what did you think of this one?
'8.8' 🤣🤣🤣

Hi christie! LADIES TUESDAY with you, Amy Nicholson and Katie Walsh every week please!!!❤❤❤.. Dave can join in too!!
I would love it if they added Katie to the permanent crew.
Hit Man? more like Bland Man
Hmm, disagree. What didn’t you like about it?
Dave is always so smart and without pretense.
He is indeed a lovely, intelligent gentleman.
This was a good time. Adria Arjuna is a dead ringer for Eiza Gonzalez as well. Hope your surgery went well, Christy!
Both talented, beautiful women. Thanks for the kind words!

Wow this movie getting so many good reviews-🤣 I can't remember being this excited for a Netflix feature.
Let us know what you think!
Can’t wait for this one. Love Linklater.
Did some work on The Old Guard and had the exact same experience of seeing Theron!
Oh wow! We are Gina Prince-Bythewood fans around here.

AW! no garfield review? I know you guys were really looking forward to that one!
Sorry, no Garfield review.
I immediately went to Netflix and couldn’t find Hit Man… Apparently, it’s not available until June 7th. 😢
Correct, but it’s in theaters now. Hope you enjoy!
Movie sounds interesting! OMG haha- I was playing this whilst working and it sounded a bit like Alonso- the rhythm and intonation- I'm guessing they've been together quite a long time as they've probably picked up each others voices x
Yep, they've been married over 25 years!
@@BreakfastAllDay Oh wow haha that would explain it! Thanks for replying to everything- that's amazing. Keep up the good vibes Xxx
"Before Sunrise" and the whole trilogy are greatly underappreciated in his director catalogue and should be watched asap by those who haven't seen them.
Which one's your favorite?
@@BreakfastAllDay Oh man, I would have to say "Before Midnight", it was heartbreaking. I also think it was the best written.
@@BreakfastAllDaybefore sunset is one of the greatest films and the ending is perfection.
So excited to see this. I loooved Glen Powell in scream queens.
He's great here! Hope you enjoy.
I want to see this movie already. It's not playing at any theatres near me. Bummer :(((
Hopefully soon!

Dave's looking svelte. Bummed this isn't out until June 7th, looks great.
It's in select theaters now!
No review of IF which opened a week ago? I know Alonso mentioned in passing that he was bored by it.
Alonso didn't like it, and I can't drive with my knee injury so I couldn't make the screening. Have you seen it?
I saw this at NYFF and absolutely loved it. It plays extremely well with a crowd so it is very disappointing this didn't sell to a distributor that would've given it a wide release. I am happy Linklater got a nice pay day though... one of the best American filmmakers.
It’s in limited theaters now and streaming on Netflix June 7. Glad you loved it too!
@@BreakfastAllDay "limited" being the key word.
Point of order: There's only one Paul Newman.
True! But Glen Powell has that *thing*.
whatever IT is this powell guy has it no doubt

Yep. I put up a graphic to indicate that early in the video, I realized that afterward. And it's correct in the description. Thanks, Christy
@@BreakfastAllDayOkay, good. I was listening to the review and didn’t notice it. My bad. 😂
The trailer for this movie gave it all away
It’s not on Netflix until 6/7

I only like the surprise ads in these videos.
It's like a little treat to look forward to :)
This would flop hard in theaters, once the ending got out , so netflix moved smart limited realse , people do not like to see bad people win.
Ugh.. saw it and couldnt stand.. thought the script was so forced and simple.. made me imbarrassed to watch..
I liked it but the ending was lame
Okay, I'm in. I was expecting this to stink but not so.
Not so indeed! Have fun.

So is Henry Caville….and yes he is also beautiful in person.
More proof Glen Powell was born to play Booster Gold.

Yup, he's from Austin.
❤
I dont get why Glen Powell gets work when he's about as charismatic as a wet blanket. Maybe its just because he has abs.
Agreed
Respectfully disagree!
Glenn Powell's smile is already annoying me. It's smug.
Give him a shot here, he shows a ton of range.
@@BreakfastAllDay playing a character for a minute isn't range

This movie was sooooo bad. Go see Furiosa for 3rd time rather than wasting time on this.
To you. Rotten Tomatoes’ 98% disagrees with you which tells more about your taste than anything. Ps… don’t be sanctimonious. Bad trait.
