- Bizarre sequence from a 1975 slapstick exploitation film. This footage actually features John Gary Williams, unlike the other Mad Lads clip, which was done when John Gary Williams was in the military. The clip also has the extra comedy bit left in the end for more visuals of the Mad Lads.

I bought this record when it came out, 1966. My friends and I would sing this acappella.
We were 14-15 year old white kids from NJ. We knew this song was great then and I love this song even more now. The Mad Lads are one of my all time favorite vocal groups.

This group recorded fantastic music with Booker T and the MG's at Stax in the sixties. They wrote their own stuff if I remember correctly. Really talented guys.

This clip is from a movie entitled "Get Down and Boogie" I saw it in the early eighties late one night. It was a funny, yet crappy movie. It also featured the Dramatics, they were singing in a jail cell. The part that really had me laughingwere characters portraying the KKK riding around on motorcycles wearing satin sheets. As I stated before...funny, yet crappy! This scene featuring the Mad Lads was one of the highlights of the movie.

I saw this absolutely insane flick on television a couple times, as "Get Down and Boogie." After years and years of searching, I have finally purchased a dvd copy. There has never been an "official" dvd release, but the edited for tv version (boo!) CAN be had, under its original title, "Darktown Strutters." It's put out by one-a those cheap-o, slim, 99-cent-store companies, called "East / West DVD." They're wholesalers, however, & my local $ store had their stuff, but not THIS'n.AMAZONdid, used

I see lion-el in a black rhinestone hat and denim st the upper left. he play a few shows in 70s and 80's like growing pains what's happening. different kind of family, different strokes, different world, Martin, newhart. yep that mad lad has been a lot of tv shows but not this recently. maybe he's singing with some original members. they had perform at the lovers Kane concert about three years ago or last year. god bless to those mad lad and lion-el.
