Devil's Slicer is definitely one of the best long swords in the game, 190 attack, very long green, 50 thunder, and two slots, paired with bludgeoner and mind's eye, this thing is unstoppable.
I found that once you can manage to build it at Village 2-Star, the Yukumo Long Sword is a decent Long Sword for the rest of those quests and gets slightly better once you can upgrade it at least once when you reach Village 3-Star (just do the Gathering on Deserted Island for Bealite Ore), as it sports really nice green Sharpness with 90 damage. Pretty nice for when you're just starting out and don't feel confident enough to tackle online quests solo. Been using it and it's worked well for me so far.

Jk4887 *Fatty laughs in the distance* No, but seriously, I wanted to learn switchaxe after reading his preaching. Many Kushala and Chameleos later to farm the gear, and 10 hours later, I realized I wasn't worthy. I might try again for Generations though... when I'll be able to purchase it (the joy of living in a developing world country)
Just to note the wyvern blade flame doesn't need any event stuff. I have it fully upgraded with that awesome 40 fire. Just needs hyper rathian and rathalos scales.
+gaijin hunter just a curious question. Do u ever plan on doing a countdown of your favorite monsters in the entire series? Also, no elder dragons on that list cuz we all love them anyway. We all wanna know which among the non elder dragon monsters are your favorites.
The Wyvern Blade longswords have always been a favorite of mine. Such a sleek looking blade with the stats to boot. Always went for it when I first started in 3U, and even upon switching to Charge Blade in 4U I still made parts for this weapon line on the side. It may not have always been a top-tier weapon, but I'm definitely gonna go for it again in Generations.
Honestly, i can say that, since 3U, the best longsword is the Alatreon one: Yeah, maybe it doesn't have much attack, but it has a good Dragon element damage (probably one of the most powerful Dragon element, and it's very useful because most of the monsters are weak to it) and that beautiful sharpness, I mean... come on, you'll never find a weapon with so much sharpness (in MH3U it was like he had Sharpness +2 incorporated, because no longsword had so much purple WITHOUT sharpness +1)
As much as you go on about how you love Bludeoning, I'm surprised you didn't throw Devil Slicer up on this list.190 Attack, super long natural Green sharpness, and *_50_* Thunder with 2 slots. What's not to love?
Hi! I've been following you since MH4U and somebody mentioned your commentary has gotten better. I didn't notice until I looked back and I was like wow there actually has been a change lol. Good job on the improvement (imo) and thanks for making so many videos. Anyway, I wanted to ask if you could compare the grimclaw and hellblade LS? I like the idea of grimclaw but I don't know in what situations it would beat the hellblade.
I'd give an honorable mention to the good old Usurper's Boltslicer for fashion hunter. Aside from being a pretty good lightning sword, when you draw it it has the normal blade then draws a second blade made of lightning around it like a beam sabre effect. With the new particle effects in Gen it looks amazing.
For the time being (I'm only at Village 3-star), I'm enjoying using the Great Maccao Long Sword. I had planned on building that into the Lavasioth LS, but based on these recommendations, I may have to go for the Seregios LS now.
I'd recommend simply sticking with the Iron Katana tree and building it to level 4. It's an all around strong weapon and you build a lot of good stuff off it.
Amazing video as always, by the way I have a request, since you use a female avatar I would love to see you making a video of the best looking female armors in the game. I cannot decide if I want to use a male or a female avatar.
I got something on my mind that has to be answered. When you use the Seregios Longsword and have chosen the Adept Style is the sharpness going up if you do the evade jump?
The LS I use 70% of the time is Infernal Sword, final upgrade of Skeletal sword. It has: 260 Raw and 20 Dragon attribute and 1 slot, but -20% affinity with sharpness +2 it has blue sharpness.
My favourite longsword is the Rusty Claymore/Gaelic Flame, 200 atk, 10% affinity, 15 Def and 2 slots, really good for a all situation longsword to use.
The Aqua Scythe is also a fantastic workhorse if you aren't able to get these yet. 220 with a chunk of blue, one slot, 17 water and neutral affinity. If you're trying to get the weapons in this video, the Aqua Scythe is a good choice.
+gaijin hunter - How do you feel about the Strikequill? I've been running numbers and if you're running Sharpness+1/2 it outdamages any of the other raw weapons with 230/White.
So I just have way too many Silverwind Narga parts to spare, I was wondering if there is a main go-to weapon that I can make with those parts. I already have regular narga's gs.
I have Zealous Sedition but it is worth it for endgame or i need to built another raw longsword like deepest night and grimclaw?? (I just wanna put in with hellblade armor set)
Eager Cleaver is amazing imo. Only 190 Raw, but 50 Thunder. FIFTY! Nice long green, and two slots. A great blunt edge weapon and my favourite Thunder LS
I'm using it with the silverwind narga set with the Deppest Night and it gives me 70% affinity, increases the damage boost from critical hits to 40% rather than 25%, and I have evade extender, allowing me to more easily use adept style and move around the monster easier(it wasn't that hard before, but it's not completely unhelpful), and I get evasion +2 so if I mess up the adept evade, there's actually a good chance I'll evade through th attack anyway. Its awesome because the Silverwind set is basically a glass cannon with low defense but huge damage increases and good evasion, so using adept style synchronizes with it SO well. It also really helps that the set and the longsword look AMAZING and that Nargacuga is probably my favorite monster in the game at this point(it used to be Deviljho, but after this game, I'm definitely changing it). I'm sure this set is better for aerial style weapons like the Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, or Dual Blades because they can really take advantage of the evasion perks, but the sheer damage output I get with a damage buffed 70% affinity paired with near-constant red buff on my longsword thanks to adept style makes this set unbelievably powerful and it all comes together so well.
Hey GH, I hope I can catch you with my question since you just posted this video! I noticed that you edited the description of your Kinsect guide video to say that the Speed 1 kinsect was just as good as the Balanced Kinsect. Can you expand upon that? Has your opinion changed at all? I'm leveling up my IG in MHG now and I want to invest my materials in the best bug!
The pure speed Kinsect gives White Effect Up L, which gives you +30 Affinity when white extract is active, and Double Up Extender, which increases the duration of both double up combinations (but not the triple up). The +20% Speed and increased flight distance also make it very easy to use. The balanced Kinsect gives Triple Up Extender, which increases the duration of the triple up by 50% (this also includes the effect of the Extract Hunter hunter art), and Wide Range, which allows all of the extracts you obtain to be applied to all hunters in the area (non-IG hunters will get a weaker version of the buff). Pick whichever suits your play style better. The balanced Kinsect is great online and pairs with the Extract Hunter hunter art very nicely (Extract Hunter Lv. 3 with Triple Up Extender lasts 135 seconds, which is often more than long enough to charge the art back up again). The speed Kinsect gives you a huge boost in damage from the added affinity, not the mention the ability to offset weapons with negative affinity (among a lot of other things).
Personally, I like to use the Nargacuga IG (not silverwind) specced for the speed kinsect. With only 180 raw, it's a little on the weaker side if you're not getting crits, but with crit boost and weakness exploit you can easily reach 100% affinity and deal 40% more damage. All without needing hayabusa feather.
Trying to look these weapons up on Kiranico, but I find I can't actually search by the weapons final name, so I'm having a hard time finding the weapons so I know the path to them.
I think their might be either a mistake on Kiranico or maybe you swapped between the 2 but Wyvern Blade "Pale" seems to be using the Hyper Silver and Golden Los/Ian. Wyvern Blade "Flame" seems to be using Hyper regular Los/Ian. Not a big issue but possibly a note.
There is nothing like the Gravios intro from 4U, where you had to doge his beam as soon as you were able to move. And yes, the intros from Generations suck
The had to get rid of something to put all this new content in and it was pretty sensible to say bye to the intro cinematics. I loved them a lot, but I'd take what we have now, which is tons of content.
+Azeem Inshan-Alli Well, but you could still do a little more than... just showing the monster for five seconds and then showing its name. At least show us an attack or so
Question i am new to monster hunter generation, i will have the deepest night soon and i have the nargacuda S armor set I don't know what to equip on the open slots the weapon and armor has.. can anyone suggest anything??
Can someone please help me to decide which one to do ? I can't choose between Zealous Sedition (ZS) and Deepest Night (DN)... DN has 40% affinity which is great, but a smaller white sharpness bar than Zealous Sedition, though DN has a larger blue sharpness bar. DN is good for me because of this blue bar and the 40 % affinity. ZS though is great because it has a larger white sharpness bar and can sharp itself when evading which is something awesome, though ZS only has 20% affinity... I think the main question is : More critical hits or more sharpness ? Halp please !
I'm actually using Deepest Night paired with the Silverwind Nargacuga armor set, and 5.. Kokoto gems (I think, It's the one that raises Thunder Res, right? so my set up basically makes my hunter a glass cannon. Average defense but high damage output with the LS having 70% Affinity and Crit Boost
Can you do a video on why these numbers are written as is and how comparable they would be to ther 4U counterparts because I am used to seeing 550 Blast looking impressive, not 35...
the weapons show now the true attack power (I guess?) , but it's stupid and unconfortable for player who always played Monster Hunter, if you ask me...
Weapons now show actual attack value instead of the value times the weapon's multiplier. Elemental/status is now the actual value instead of being multiplied by 10. Side note, originally if you wanted to calculate the damage you would be doing with a single attack, you would have to first convert the attack to the actual value (and then calculate motion value, monster part strength, sharpness, etc.). This way there's a step removed from the equation. edit: As far as comparing to MH4u values you could look up the weapon damage multipliers and just multiply by the value in MH Gen. Gaijin Hunter also has them listed in his MH4u damage buff calculation video, I think.
Weapon stats in MHGen show the true raw attack power that is actually used in the damage formula instead of including the weapon type multiplier (which is meant to give players a sense of how weapon types compare against each other in terms of per-hit damage). Personally, I like this method better because all you need to remember is that 200 is the average weapon attack stat at endgame regardless of weapon type.
3:00 you said, "when you're using elemental weapon blabla, then this is the right weapon for you." What does that mean? I'm using the narga ls, how do I use elemental weapon?
Statistically, I think the Redhelm Azurous LS would have been a better pick over the Grimclaw. Though the Grimclaw has natural white, you can get the same amount of white with sharpness +2 on redhelm. Redhelm has +10 raw, but -5% afinity. However, the biggest deal-breaker I found was availability. You can get redhelm in low rank, allowing for faster hunter art build-up at an earlier stage in the game, while Grimclaw isn't available until mid-end high rank.
Have the seregios weapons been buffed in generations? In MH4U they weren't that amazing unless it was from a weapon that really worked well with them, like the great sword, but I've been seeing them appear in these lists quite a lot.
The nargacuga longsword is the best if you are looking for raw power, and if you can get critical god and challenger+ 2. But critical god is already good enough to have with it.
Guys, seriously give the Arzuros Longsword a try. It's very easy to forge, sports 230 raw and a decent amount of white sharpness using sharpness +2. I'm using it in conjunction with the Glavenus S armor and the results are amazing!
hi gaijin dont really have alot of favorite Longswords rusty claymore to last gaelic flame never let me down regardless of what i was huntering but when i need to exploit an element weekness mostly dragon weekness ill use burning dragonsword to inferno dragon sword thats honestly about it unless it has a dragon element weekness ill mostly stick with raw damage of last gaelic flame deal with the various monsters like i did in mhfu it sucks that there isnt a rusty claymore tree in world but seeing how ill need a decent replacement for last gaelic flame
I’m village star 9 rn and I’m using the kahanas edge lvl3 but it took a long time to kill the high rank Rathalos, is there a better long sword I should use or should I just get better
TheValiantBob depends. Me personally, I made a weapon for every element and status just because I like having a lot of my favorite weapon. Also sometimes elemental weapons can be more effective on a hunt than raw weapons if utilized correctly (aka attacking the spots where the monster is the most weak to elemental damage and obviously using the right element) but other times those parts may be harder to reach on a monster you are fighting so you use a raw power one and hit where you can.
Normally I wouldn't nitpick at something so small in a video, but for anyone who might be confused, when gaijin said "+40% defense" that was a mistake (most likely he misspoke). There is no weapon that will give you a 1.4x boost to your defense. It's all just a flat +10/20/30/40 in the number.
The Seregios LS in 4U was bad more so due to its sharpness. It barely had any purple or white to the point where the "roll to regain sharpness" mechanic became moot, even with razor sharp. In Generations its sharpness better compliments the weapon's gimmick.
Gaijin you can't do this to me man, its 2:30 in the morning for me....I want to go to bed. T_T Why must you upload awesome content, for compensation you must release the Top 5 IG next. >.>
if you know how to use Weakness Exploit, Tigrine Need is the best of the bests for me, i got a set with Weakenss Exploit, Crit +2, Repeat Ofender and Critical boost,; this set is a Rajang Slayer
why are there *THREE* sharpness bars for each weapon? I played MH4U and know how sharpness/handicraft works there but is something different with MHGen? also there doesnt seem to be Purple sharpness, did they take that out? Any help would be appreciated, thanks :)
There are now Sharpness +1 and Sharpness +2 skills. Sharpness +2 is the equivalent of Sharpness +1 for all MHgames prior to MHGen. MHGen or MHX do not have G-rank monsters, hence no purple sharpness to balance this out. MH3U and MH4U(MH3G & MH4G in Japan) had Purple Sharpness because they had G-Rank monsters in them. You'll also notice that you can't form lots of armor skill combinations for your armor sets. Eg. we used to be able to make Razor Sharp, Honed Blade and Challenger +2 sets in MH4U, But you can hardly make this kind of top-tier skill sets due to the lack of G-rank monster parts. I hope this helps.
MHGen seems less in depth than previous titles (MH4U/MH3U) isn't taking away GRank monsters a BACKWARDS step? you're telling me there aren't as hard monsters or as much late game content??
+Zanarkand Abe Well, you have to understand that Capcom doesn't usually release the first edition of MH game(Read MH4) in the west. What they do is localise and release the expanded versions(Read MH4G) and rename them (Read MH4U) about half a year after the G-version's japanese release. To make my point clear, every new entry in MH begins in Japan, and every new entry in the series do not have G-Rank in Japan. So MH4(Sept 2013) did not have G-rank in Japan until MH4G(Oct 2014) came out a year later. Western audience are usually treated to the expanded, localised release about half a year later(MH4U in Feb 2015). So case in point, in the case of MHGEN, MHX(No G-rank, aka first entry in a new series) was first released in Nov 2015, and they released the localised version to the west in July 2016. To be honest, we are already treated to an early release, only about 8months after MHX was released in Japan, and there isn't really much to complain cuz this is the way MH works. Usually, the western audience would get nothing at all at this period of time, as we would have to wait till AFTER they release the Japanese G-rank version(perhaps called MHX-G), possibly Oct-Nov 2016, THEN, wait about half a year, maybe Feb or March 2017, only we will have a western release of a G-rank version. Clearly, this isn't the case this time, as we already got our hands on MHGen in July 2016. The reason we're getting it is possibly due to the high public demand and the use of the hashtag #MHXfForTheWest , popularised by GaijinHunter, and he personally delivered that message to the lead producer of the MH series. In conclusion, it really isn't a huge step backwards if you know how MH transitions from Japan to the west. It's just how things are. I was hoping Japan is getting an MHX-G this year, so that we can get an MHGEN with G-Rank monsters hopefully by next year. But it seems they are only releasing MH Stories in October this year. So we'll see. Hope this clears things up for you. Happy hunting!

Really like Wyvern Blade "Flame" because it's a combination of Rathalos and Rathian materials.
im in hr4 and still using the petrified saber lvl5. no idea what should i craft first? anybody has any suggestion
What would be a good one for thunder attack???
GH, Wyvern Blade "Flame" is the name of the first two forms, the final form is the Wyvern Blade "Flare".
Narga's and Valstrax's are my favorite long swords
Deepest Night is btw called Hidden Saber ^^
I really enjoy the upgraded Guardian Blade
I need some help T_T which one is the best Thunder Longsword...there are so many
Can you do top 5 hammers :3
Did anyone else see the typo?
'Cimsonfork'?
I'm actually using Deepest Night paired with the Silverwind Nargacuga armor set, and 5.. Kokoto gems (I think, It's the one that raises Thunder Res, right? so my set up basically makes my hunter a glass cannon. Average defense but high damage output with the LS having 70% Affinity and Crit Boost
Plus tenderizer +5 talisman with 3 slots
Is it ok if I use the Gaelic flame?
I really enjoy the Savage Jho longsword. Sure it only has decent attack and no natural white sharpness, but it has 50 dragon element. 50!
No mention for the Mizutsune longsword? it may not be the best, but it sure is the prettiest
the chainslaughter longsword from 4 ultimate is the bomb.
+時雨 I know, but it's much stronger.
The stats are awesome but it dont like hunting with a chainsaw, its not really monster hunter.
What builds into the nargacuga Long Sword? I can't seem to find it after fighting him
iron katana
Assuming I have the English name right, it upgrades from the Iron Katana starting from Lv. 4.
Thanks
Are you planning on doing something like this for Dual Blades or Heavy Bowguns?
All weapons will get one
Make a new one with MHGU longswords
3:00 you said, "when you're using elemental weapon blabla, then this is the right weapon for you."
What does that mean? I'm using the narga ls, how do I use elemental weapon?
Statistically, I think the Redhelm Azurous LS would have been a better pick over the Grimclaw. Though the Grimclaw has natural white, you can get the same amount of white with sharpness +2 on redhelm. Redhelm has +10 raw, but -5% afinity. However, the biggest deal-breaker I found was availability. You can get redhelm in low rank, allowing for faster hunter art build-up at an earlier stage in the game, while Grimclaw isn't available until mid-end high rank.
0:12 Breath Man... XD
what is best sword to make at level 5 ?!
No Tormentor? It's so good and looks freaking awesome
wailing cleaver shin has been ny faveorite since freedom unite
Have the seregios weapons been buffed in generations? In MH4U they weren't that amazing unless it was from a weapon that really worked well with them, like the great sword, but I've been seeing them appear in these lists quite a lot.
The nargacuga longsword is the best if you are looking for raw power, and if you can get critical god and challenger+ 2. But critical god is already good enough to have with it.
man im waiting for the top 5 sns so i know sumin to go for
Guys, seriously give the Arzuros Longsword a try. It's very easy to forge, sports 230 raw and a decent amount of white sharpness using sharpness +2. I'm using it in conjunction with the Glavenus S armor and the results are amazing!
I can vouch for this one, a pretty great weapon, looks cool and easy to make.
Do you mean the redhelm version or the normal?
Derrick H. Normal one
thanks!
Derrick H. No problem, make sure to get sharpness +2 for a good amount of white for a pretty easy to make weapon
hi gaijin dont really have alot of favorite Longswords rusty claymore to last gaelic flame never let me down regardless of what i was huntering but when i need to exploit an element weekness mostly dragon weekness ill use burning dragonsword to inferno dragon sword thats honestly about it unless it has a dragon element weekness ill mostly stick with raw damage of last gaelic flame deal with the various monsters like i did in mhfu it sucks that there isnt a rusty claymore tree in world but seeing how ill need a decent replacement for last gaelic flame
anyone know how to unlock the susano blade?
I’m village star 9 rn and I’m using the kahanas edge lvl3 but it took a long time to kill the high rank Rathalos, is there a better long sword I should use or should I just get better
Yeah there is, the hidden saber is easier to upgrade, extremely high sharpness and 40% affinity
Charge Blade next please!!
my favorite is Dark Claw
My favourite longsword is the Stahlrekt.
How about the Trembling Pisces?
they made this game pretty good, the lack of monster intros is the only thing that sucks
where you get these weapons
RIP Wailing Ghost & Yuki Ichimomji
What does the deviant version do?
Rando question: is it a good idea to make one weapon for each element, or just get a really good raw and call it a day?
Did the Seregios weapon gimmick get tweaked or something? I remember you saying that the Seregios LS was pretty bad back in MH4U.
The Seregios LS in 4U was bad more so due to its sharpness. It barely had any purple or white to the point where the "roll to regain sharpness" mechanic became moot, even with razor sharp. In Generations its sharpness better compliments the weapon's gimmick.
What builds into the uragaan longsword?
bob smith the stone one, or default one that you start with
Gaijin you can't do this to me man, its 2:30 in the morning for me....I want to go to bed. T_T Why must you upload awesome content, for compensation you must release the Top 5 IG next. >.>
not even 5min, and you held on for so long those wont affect much ansmore
You got your wish. Check the sub box
Sword and Shield next please
did anyone catch him say that the narga sword is good with elemental weapons?
if you know how to use Weakness Exploit, Tigrine Need is the best of the bests for me, i got a set with Weakenss Exploit, Crit +2, Repeat Ofender and Critical boost,; this set is a Rajang Slayer
why are there *THREE* sharpness bars for each weapon?
Happy hunting!
does the sergios weapons still have that auto sharpening when dodging...
jazethpogi22 yeah
Combo it with challenge sheath
I freakin' hope seregios will appear in rise... Weapons from him are sooo op
