I found a bit of misinformation here: Me and some friends have been doing some testing. The balance bug _does_ give its boosts to non-Insect Glaive users as well! +5 Atk (red), +10% Affinity (white), +5 Defense (orange). As for green, it heals about half of the amount it heals the IG-user who got the green extract. If that makes sense. And this only makes the balance bug that much better. It's a very team-oriented bug. Not very big boosts, but they add up. We're still trying to figure out if they stack on top of each other though, so there's a little more testing to be done with that.
@@lued123 Yes, I believe that's the benefit of the G-rank bug. The bug gains the skill "Wide Range Up", which gives the kinsect stat boosts to the party, similar to the Wide Range armor skill. This is a timed buff. I think it only lasts for 60sec or so, but it's fairly easy to just refresh white and red when needed for that boost.
+Lewd Exactly what I was thinking. They made this much more streamlined and less of a mystery. For somebody who doesn't live on GFaqs, upgrading the Kinsect in 4U was like doing algebra.
Jeremy McKinley Yeah, it was a bit much. The only reason my glaive has the best bug is because I followed the guide that gaijinhunter made haha. If it wasn't for the internet, there's no way in hell I'd have the ultimate kinsect.
Lewd I followed Gaijin Hunter for 3 of my IGs. Then I was like ".....What if I go 60 Stamina 1st". And that's how I started getting the other paths, just by doing Gaijin's tutorial in a different order.
Got Generations today. Thanks to your videos I was easily able to get the hang of the new elements of that game. Especially the glaive section helped me A LOT! Thank you =)
I think the next best change they can make is having the kinsect and glaive interchangeable so you don't have to keep remaking the bug if you really like the bug but want to use a different glaive.
just want to let you know i love ur guides so clear and easy to understand helped me alot in monster hunter 4 ultimate and here in generation keep it up!!!
+gaijin hunter While you may not care much about the elements on Kinsects, it's been proven in 4U that Kinsects can output large amounts of elemental damage since they have the same formula without the 1/10th decrease like normal weapons get, making Elemental Kinsects (especially Charge Down, due to the Charge Attack Multiplier) viable in hunts for dealing additional damage from a distance, and I love using Gleambeetle because of the Pierce effect letting me pretty much spam him at a monster, and with good aim I can even snag a KO or two. Unless they changed the formula in MHX, adding on an Element and getting it as high as possible should allow for some nice extra damage, especially since the Elemental points are separate from the main ones unlike 4U. I really hope this comes to the west so I can test this out, and I love the changes they made to leveling up Kinsects. It both streamlines it and expands our possibilities. Really looking forward to it.
Thanks for making a kinsect guide for MHX/GEN, as an IG user whose first MH game was 4U, and first used the IG, I really appreciated the help you gave me on the first kinsect guide you made for 4U and it helped me get into MH. 350 hours later, I've checked out this guide, and it's going to be really easy to get into IG again in gen. Thanks so much gaijin :D
I just made my first Insect Glaive and was a bit unsure how to upgrade it and if it is even usable on low rank. I hoped that you would do a video on the new upgrade system like you did for MH4U, opening RUclips.... You already did! 😄 thank you so much! Keep on your good work, the German guy who doesn't know any Japanese (me) needs you :p
what a helpful and good guide thank you! the video is also pretty well made but when you have , like in this video , 3 things on 1 picture you could grey out the ones you're not talking about. for example you talk about bug 2 and you grey out bug 1 and 3 so its easier to follow.
I'll miss bilbobrix and lady tower, they sure look pretty cool and I love using them in 4U, still a great thing they simplified the upgrade system for the kinsects, can't wait to play this, thanks as always Adam
I'm really glad they separated the kinsect and glaive leveling. The changes to how nectar works are also very welcome, it was a chore figuring out how to do the different ultimate kinsects.
the element bug (speed 2) if done with an impact type kinsect i think would be a good fit for Valor style, so long as you had an ample supply of ambrosia and reverse ambrosia to assign whatever element you need for that hunt. since the bug gets sent out automatically with glaive attacks, the impact bug doing exhaust damage (or ko to a head) would likely add up, even despite the minus to power inherent in speed bugs, and the element would stack up with your glaive hits. since cutting bugs lack the exhaust damage, it seems much more lack luster for them.
I am super excited about this, you don't have to do any crazy math stuff (it wasn't hard to get triple extend if you know what you are doing) to get the best kinsect and you don't have to have a crappy bug because you haven't finished your upgrading yet! And I always like being a bit more supportive so the effect gain for teammates sounds like it will be cool! (Also Alatreon Glaive looks like it will be the coolest thing since the ice age)
16:16 This actually doesn't work. I've been hunting with other glaivers that use this same bug, and our extracts aren't shared even if we're standing right beside each other. The only extract this actually works for is the green extract. I'm not sure if we're doing something wrong, or if this is a glitch, but the wide range effect for this bug from what I can tell doesn't work for the main 3 extracts despite the particle animation still occurring.
combining the burnt meat with the ambrosias makes de-element ambrosias that you can use to reduce elements. you could change the element damage on your bug for different fights
They made it so easy to get the type of bug you want now. I can't wait to expirament with different bug types now that it is so easy. I loved my IG in 4U, but I was always a little wary about upgrading it because of the kinsects.
Great guide on kinsects, I'm SO glad to see that they simplified the upgrade system! I'm confused as to why they made on clearly superior bug to all of the others though. One question I have is, in regards to blunt type kinsects with fast charge, do they still do as much KO damage as they did in 4U? Also, was the tracking when a monster is marked and the bug is out improved as well?
I don't know if anyone mentioned this until now, but the Wide Range that the balanced bug has is not how you explain in the video. Instead of giving the specific color to other IG users, what it does is it give a buff to the party equal to what the extract gives for that color. So Red increases attack by 5 for the group, White increases affinity by 10%, Orange increases defense by 5, and Green heals. The only demerit is that the Red and Orange don't stack with Demondrugs or Armorskins and lasts for only around 15-30 seconds (I suck at tracking time but not duration extract lasts), but most people don't run those so it's a decent way to buff the party. I have confirmed they do affect non-IG users using Palicos and checking their status after getting the extract, though that might just be because they're Palicos. Also, the Triple Extender stacks with the increased duration of Extract Hunter 3 to the point where as long as you can aim it well and you are actively attacking the monster, you can maintain Triple Up the entire hunter without ever leaving it.
I have two Balanced Kinsects, a blunt type for my Alatreon IG, and a cutter type for my Valstrax IG. That way, I have both types of Balanced Kinsects, just in case I need to use them with a different glaive for any reason. What's important to note about Balanced Kinsects is that even though they may not get the full effect of it, each extract you get _will_ give a buff to your teammates regardless of weapon! If you get a white extract, the affinity for everyone will increase, orange will buff everyone's defense, so on and so forth. It works differently than it would if they were using an Insect Glaive, but their stats are still boosted to some degree.
I don't own MHG and probably won't for a while, but I keep watching this videos because I really like Gaijin's voice. Dunno why, it's just nice to hear :p
for the affinity speed 1 bug, it stated that the power is reduced by 10% . that what make our attack less powerful. plus, the way of playing this bug is by taking double essence and white is a must in order to take advantage of the double extender
epic video, veeeeeeeeeeeeeerry informative i am using strike style since it's my first time with the insect glive and it's super easy and simple (dah) so it's kind of like learning to use the kinsect along with the glive while only smashing x :p
Love the new Kinsect System. Sure, you still have to make a new glaive when you mess things up, but through their independence of each other, it is much easier to specialise your weapons. Elemental Kinsects may seem like push overs, but there probably is a point to make for hunts where it is difficult to get close enough. Don't know if there are such hunts or phases, but it defnitely is worth remembering.
+sabata2 Balanced baby :) Speed 1 I tested and it appears to degrade the triple up, plus there is other ways to get affinity boosts. It does take second place though, third goes to power 1.
+gaijin hunter Would Speed 2 with high elemental Damage be an option? 20% more damage, and with a speed kinsect to boot, sounds pretty insane to me. Would be fun to kill a monster with insect bites xD Also, are kinsects affected by elemental up armour skills?
+Nine Flames They aren't in 4u, I'd hazard a guess that they don't in MHX because they don't really need it. Here's why (post 4): www.gamefaqs.com/boards/762804-monster-hunter-4-ultimate/71877907 To answer your other question, speed 2 seems to be the most geared towards an elemental bug build. Using it in tandem with an elemental glaive would give you the ability to rack up elemental damage pretty darn fast. Same goes for Speed and Power 1 to a slightly lesser extent because of the damage multiplier on the charged shot.
+gaijin hunter Well, the Triple up is nice but after seeing this, I'd have to go with Speed 1, then Power 1, followed by a 3 way tie between Balanced, Speed 2 and Weight(Stamina) 2. Attacking is helpful, but synergy is more so.
Every 1 bug is viable except the weight one unless there's more to it than orange earplugs. If you understand how you want to use the kinsect then you would have to choose one for the right use.
i have a Carnage Beetle (Power 1 blunt) for one of my bugs since i have at least one blunt bug glaive. i decided to test and see how many times i could order it to strike in a row before i had to retrieve it. if i continuously order it to attack, i can do so 9 times before its totally out of stamina. its weight stat is at level 1, giving it a stat of only 45. never fed its weight at all, yet it can still act 9 times before totally burning all its stamina. so im really not sure weight is stamina. i read somewhere that higher weight on a bug means that it is more likely to help stagger a monster. that seems to make more sense to me than it being about stamina. i also made the Weight 1 bug for cutting, the Cancadaman. it has a kinsect skill called Extra Stun Scales which wasnt discussed here; and gives HG Earplugs as an extract skill for orange, according to its in game description. also, the speed 1 bug, the Grancathar (cutting) which i have also made does not show that is has Fast Charge as the power 1 bugs do.
Another interesting video gaijin. Even though you're not likely going to read this, but I feel like I should mention that you're the one who helped me pick up one of my new favorite weapon types, the hunting horn. Also how's the shagaru glaive with that speed lvl 10 bug?
+Mah Chuan Kai it's easier to understand things when you can read them and English as somebody's trying to teach you that thing if I gave you a book that was written in Russian and trying to teach you Chinese with that how easy do you think that would be?
everything on the menu is in the same spot tho, it's really not that confusing just apply the common sense that I know you have and you'll be fine. i found it helps to be playing the game while watching this video, you can just see for example like he's selecting the nectar that's 3 slots down from the top, check your game and you can see that's the regular strength speed extract
the speed 1 is just perfect for how i play my glaive. i only go for triple up when i am certain i can take the monster down. most of the time i just use red/white. because if an extract stopt it doesn't sompletely reset my essence bar + you can refreh it with a new extract.
+gaijin hunter 2 things: Let's say that hypothetically, I don't feel that EE is the best and I liked Charge Down KO IG a lot more: I'm guessing that the blunt power 1 and speed 1 are the 'new fleetflammers'? The others (Pierce and Double Extract) seem to be gone, with a couple of their secondary traits spread out across the 7 new final upgrades. Also, there's a slight flaw in the part about elemental bugs: you only do 1 of your 2 elements if you make a double element bug per hit, NOT both. That means that it's actually a waste to add 2 rather than spending all your points in 1 because you have less growth in each category (rather than a larger amount in just 1). For example (using simplified numbers for clarity), if I have a 5 ice/5 water bug, each shot would only be doing 5 elemental damage randomly. Having a 10 water OR ice bug would be much more beneficial and damaging, especially since kinsects actually have 1 of the highest elemental damage outputs per hit in the game. Read into this for more info (post 4 to be specific): www.gamefaqs.com/boards/762804-monster-hunter-4-ultimate/71877907
I've been playing this game for 3 months now, and i gotta say the balance bug is good becoz when u get green u give the team heals too. But i prefer the speed one. If i use whitegale narga armor and the speed bug, i get 100% Affinity. And it flies fast like in 4G end game kinsect! Both bugs are great tho:)
If the power 1 or weight 1 kinsect was pierce up, any mauldrome would be a great kinsect for KOs. Just tag the head and let 'er rip. Also they would make the striker style's simplified bug controls really good.
you probably should have included the change about the single buffs in this game: double up/triple up and the effects of the single buffs are no longer tied together. for example with the balanced bug, if you grab red, you'll get a +5 atk boost for 60 seconds, no matter what other extracts you grab (grabbing white or even the triple up before red runs out does not prolong the +5 atk boost any more!). same for white with 10% affinity for 90 seconds, and orange with +5 defense for 45 seconds. that makes the triple up extender bug a bit worse, as you will fight a third of the time without the attack boost at least (when grabbing red last), and makes the complete loss of atk or defense boosts on the speed1 bug a bit more bearable.
That actually seems like it might make managing buffs easier, since you only have to worry about getting whichever color is running out. It also makes it seem like the Speed 1 kinsect might be better, since, if I understand it correctly, means that you can actually refresh buffs before they run out as long as you have two.
Whenever you mention using a kinsect aggressively I imagine the monster fighting the kinsect while the hunter is in the background rapidly spinning their staff
Gaijin Hunter did you know that you can just hold A to gather items without the pause now. Found out by accident when I saw the hunter just kneeling gathering items and he didn't pause between item gathering.
Honestly on Stamina Bug 1 they should have made it so that just getting Orange made it so you have infinite stamina. This makes sense to me because Orange represents Endurance / Stamina to begin with.
Im gonna miss Effect Extender Kinsect, but im also glad to see it go because literally the only Kinsect you saw was that Cow-Skull-Bug strapped to peoples arms.
+Jaeger Bombastic Bad news, Elscarad effectively has a seriously nerfed effect extender and like the old effect extender bug Gaijin has advertised it as the best bug in the game hands down as though there's no real decision, before actually explaining what the bugs do.
Jaeger Bombastic I'll definitely be trying out some of the other bugs. My Glaive is primarily my solo weapon so Elscarad has less going for it. Speed 1, 2 and Power 1 have me interested more than Elscarad.
there's one thing that i don't understand: about the Wide range you said it's a nice buff if we are playing with other glaive users. if i grab orange everyone gets orange too. what? the bug gets the juice? or the player gets the juice bonus? (like i grabbed orange and commanded the bug to come to me and give me the buff). but later you say if i get red i see the effects but only i get the attack buff. what does that mean? only works for green, white and yellow? i'm kind of confused
When you call the bug back and get an extract, fellow IG users in the area will get it as well. But only IG users. Oddly enough, non-IG users still get the glowing animation but they did not actually get a buff.
Dunno if it's already been said but assuming charging the kinsect works like in 4U, it's a 1.5x multiplier on elemental damage, so the 1.2x elemental bug has no real purpose when the alternative is a charge down bug.
+vitriolicAmaranth Also again assuming kinsects work similarly in combat to 4U's, the appropriate element is far more valuable than more power because of the vast amount of elemental damage kinsects actually do. In 4U I usually make the bug the same element as the glaive or dragon (for kushalas) on poison glaives, and power for raw/blast/status with just enough to change the kinsect colour for fashion.
+vitriolicAmaranth And final note, it was actually virtually impossible to screw up a kinsect in 4U unless you simply upgraded it down the wrong path (eg upgrading to a speed bug when you wanted effect extender), because you could simply use nectars to move points out of the stat you didn't need and into the stat you did even when your growth points were maxed out for the level. This actually looks EASIER to screw up, albeit simpler and more transparent so people are less likely to believe they've screwed up when they haven't.
this might be a stupid question but does the affinity boost affect the kinsect only or the actual weapon? because +30% affinity sounds super good and now im regretting that i already made some of my kinsects to the balanced ones
30% affinity is a 7.5% to your overall average. Attack boost Large bug giving 15 raw is interestingly also a 7.5% boost for a 200 raw weapon... However, im not sure what GH meant by speed bugs losing the triple up attack bonus so that right there could make all the difference... Definitely pick the bug for its namesake and extra effects, it seems to be relatively balanced either way.
+nicuador with the balanced bug, red gives you +5 atk, white +10% affinity and orange +5 def. with the speed1 bug you only get the 30% affinity boost from white, not any buffs like that from red or orange. that's what gaijinhunter meant by degrading the triple up. and still although gaijinhunter said differently in this video, the balanced bug also gives these buffs (no combo-buffs like orange+white gives earplugs etc, only these +5 atk, +10% aff. and +5 def) to the other players in your party. so if you are not playing solo often but online with 3 other people more often, that bug basically gives +40% affinity and +20 atk (distributed to all 4 hunters). for players who mainly play online, the balanced bug is clearly the best one.
for me Speed 1 is the way to go for Complete Annihilation! is just that i don't like how it looks! its so thin, not so much feature and looks like a dart -_- . I hope they add some features to select its final form without affecting the stats and also the option to reset the kinsect to level 1 because not all understand this specially the newbies (i made another seregios IG just for the speed 1!!) !!
It looks like this game no longer really has a "best bug," unlike in MH4U. I could see the balance bug working really well for your playstyle, but I've spent a decent amount of time with my glaive in 4U, and I found that on some monsters, you're just not going to reliably get that third essence. If you disagree, try to get orange against Shaggy. (wall of text if expanded) Anyway, it seems that bugs are now more geared towards personal playstyle rather than knowledge of the growth tree, which works a whole lot better in my opinion. There's even two options for battlebug play, one raw with a slight elemental boost, one highly elemental and spammable beyond belief. Then there's the bugs geared more towards glaive use, with speed1 giving some much appreciated affinity with white and some maintenance capabilities if you get orange or red, and weight2 giving some amazing tanking capabilities with a def+ IG, as long as you can keep grabbing at the monster's green zone. I mostly see the balance bug being good in a party with multiple glaive users, or for people who are really good at getting all three extracts. Personal research: either prayer or prudence (I forget which) boosts the effectiveness of green extract. I got a rare 10 elec-element IG relic with prayer +5 and a bug on the essence extender path (I also had a prudence +6 talisman). I later spent a lot of time playing with G-rank Shaggy armor. I had my gathering set with some rare 4-ish glaive that was far less effective, and restored noticeably less HP from green essence. That does mean that armor skills can affect insect strength, but likely not all of them, considering what +silverbullet4747 posted. Now, though, I kinda want to get Recovery Up and hone a glaive for Life with a charge down bug. I bet I could kill a Fatalis without mega potions.
My endgame goal is to make all the kinsects including both blunt and cutting, doesn’t matter if it’s not the meta. I want all the cool unique looking kinsects.
Im pretty sure that they made 2 kinds of bugs: the blunt type and the cutting type... but what you showed is more like 1 type of bug only so that makes me a bit confused.
+gaijin hunter So is the speed 1 kinsect the best kinsect now? You said in a another video that "it is as good if not better". Can you make a guide on how to create the speed 1 kinsect?
I love the guide but this Method does not work with the Mauldrone or I am just not fully understanding Kinsects. I am attempting to make Ladytower but out of 3 separate attempts I have no luck and the guides online with charts are not precise either. If anyone could assist with this I would greatly appreciate!
Question: in mhgu the when you register a weapon at the bottom left its seats kinscets from glaives cannot be registered. Does the fully upgraded balance bug still remained registered or its lost of you swap to a different set that's not glaives?
Hello Gajin, i have a question. Since i am thinking about my main weapon in MHGEN and Instect Glave is on the List. Do you get the Balanced bug befor highrank? since i am planning to complete the villiage bevor i start to move into the guild hall ^^".
+Carlos Luis Arias actually, you can. It will take longer and you will probably have difficulties affording it, but as long as you unlock the bee farm, it is possible to get it in Low Rank. I'm HR2 in guild and am on 3 star village quest and I have one, even though there were many difficulties
Speed 1 is by far the best imo. This game is all about critical boost to do the most damage. The 30% crit you get from a white buff is 12% more damage then.
So does Wide Range work as it's said in the video? Me and a friend tested this and he doesn't get the extract itself but seems to get the buff the extract gives to the user. Wanted to know if this is how it's meant to be or if something changed in the US release.
Wait, I lost it somewhere. The video says that 100 weight is enough to send the kinsect about 9 times but mine is untouched and I can send it many more times. I probably understood something wrong but I can't find what exactly. Help me out ?
Just wondering if there is a Blunt Version, Kinsect-Wise I mean, showing the stats and what not like this one of the different kinds of upgrades and so on.
So I came late to the party and just started Gen now, but to make it short, do I just have to feed the kinsect until the power, weight, and speed all get up 6/10 to get the balanced (or the effect extender?) kinsect? I'm sorry, I can't seem to understand it clearly. I got so used to 4U's system in getting Bilbobrix/Ladytower.
does the element kinsect affect the overall weapon element? like, if i made a thunder kinsect for a thunder glaive, would the glaive have more elemental damage or naw?
So you're telling me I can use glaive earlier with this new system rather than it being an endgame weapon?
Yay!
Best Girl I like how your name is best girl and your pfp is futaba XD
I never used 4U glaive until I already finished G3
I would use it here and there in Low and High Rank, but it really was a G-Rank weapon.
Chris I'm late at this party, but I'd like to respond nonetheless. That's because this "Best Girl" person has amazing taste
100th like!
Im so happy they dropped the old system. It was such a pain and despite me being a glaive user, i widely ignored it and just pumped speed
Hell yeah pump those roids
I found a bit of misinformation here:

Wait, fire type bug? I can have a volcarona?
+greenhillmario Now I kinda want to see a mod where an IG user just sends out a giant Volcarona at monsters.
I still want walking-only bugs...
Idk why.
Or with an electric type you can send out Galvantula.
Or Surskit with water.
I choose to believe that Yanmega counts as a dragon.
i still want a seltas ig that sends out a tiny seltas

Really looking forward to it.
"UPDATE: Speed 1 is just as good as balanced."
Speed kinsect is better because of the affinity boost
GO AWAY BALANCED LOOKS COOL
Thanks for making a kinsect guide for MHX/GEN, as an IG user whose first MH game was 4U, and first used the IG, I really appreciated the help you gave me on the first kinsect guide you made for 4U and it helped me get into MH. 350 hours later, I've checked out this guide, and it's going to be really easy to get into IG again in gen. Thanks so much gaijin :D

Get LV6 in power/weight/speed?
666. Best Kinsect is Satan confirmed.

the element bug (speed 2) if done with an impact type kinsect i think would be a good fit for Valor style, so long as you had an ample supply of ambrosia and reverse ambrosia to assign whatever element you need for that hunt. since the bug gets sent out automatically with glaive attacks, the impact bug doing exhaust damage (or ko to a head) would likely add up, even despite the minus to power inherent in speed bugs, and the element would stack up with your glaive hits. since cutting bugs lack the exhaust damage, it seems much more lack luster for them.
16:16
This actually doesn't work. I've been hunting with other glaivers that use this same bug, and our extracts aren't shared even if we're standing right beside each other. The only extract this actually works for is the green extract. I'm not sure if we're doing something wrong, or if this is a glitch, but the wide range effect for this bug from what I can tell doesn't work for the main 3 extracts despite the particle animation still occurring.
combining the burnt meat with the ambrosias makes de-element ambrosias that you can use to reduce elements. you could change the element damage on your bug for different fights
made my day. thanks again for another awesone guide
RIP Fleethammer.... I'll miss you my brachy-fisted wyvernfly
Your first glave video helped me so much
Returning on this game thnx for this explanation.
Oh my god. I use Insect Glaive and this is amazing. A whole team of Balanced bug IG users. True Beauty
Dunno why, it's just nice to hear :p
for the affinity speed 1 bug, it stated that the power is reduced by 10% . that what make our attack less powerful. plus, the way of playing this bug is by taking double essence and white is a must in order to take advantage of the double extender
glad to know the kinsect system in mhx/g is separated and simplified, really kept me away from it in mh4u. looking forward to trying it in x/g
I am so glad that the upgrades are seperate.
epic video, veeeeeeeeeeeeeerry informative
i am using strike style since it's my first time with the insect glive and it's super easy and simple (dah) so it's kind of like learning to use the kinsect along with the glive while only smashing x
:p
Love the new Kinsect System. Sure, you still have to make a new glaive when you mess things up, but through their independence of each other, it is much easier to specialise your weapons. Elemental Kinsects may seem like push overs, but there probably is a point to make for hunts where it is difficult to get close enough. Don't know if there are such hunts or phases, but it defnitely is worth remembering.
i read it as MHXUltimate and got very excited damn it
Glad to hear kinsect advancement is simplified, that was the main thing that turned me off of going too deep on IG in 4U
Just came from your blog. It looks like Speed 1 is now the bug to go for.
+sabata2 Balanced baby :) Speed 1 I tested and it appears to degrade the triple up, plus there is other ways to get affinity boosts. It does take second place though, third goes to power 1.
+gaijin hunter
Would Speed 2 with high elemental Damage be an option? 20% more damage, and with a speed kinsect to boot, sounds pretty insane to me. Would be fun to kill a monster with insect bites xD
Also, are kinsects affected by elemental up armour skills?
+Nine Flames
They aren't in 4u, I'd hazard a guess that they don't in MHX because they don't really need it. Here's why (post 4): www.gamefaqs.com/boards/762804-monster-hunter-4-ultimate/71877907
To answer your other question, speed 2 seems to be the most geared towards an elemental bug build.
To unlock traders for jelly and such, you need to clear Guild Quests until HR 4, which means repelling Nakarkos as the Urgent Quest.
There's a Prowler quest line that unlocks Honey/Insect farming as early as 3(?) star village, iirc.
Now I can finally pick up the glaive again :D
Does adding elemental change the colors of the insect like it did in 4u
Another interesting video gaijin. Even though you're not likely going to read this, but I feel like I should mention that you're the one who helped me pick up one of my new favorite weapon types, the hunting horn. Also how's the shagaru glaive with that speed lvl 10 bug?
+deathseraph3 oh course i read it and you're welcome! Horn is so much fun. :)
+gaijin hunter yup. I love how support is just a natural consequence of using horn rather than its main premise.
could you re-do this with the new ENGLISH version please? It would be so much nicer.
yes please
its the same lol
Yeah but I found it a little confusing in Japanese.
+gaijin hunter
2 things: Let's say that hypothetically, I don't feel that EE is the best and I liked Charge Down KO IG a lot more: I'm guessing that the blunt power 1 and speed 1 are the 'new fleetflammers'?
Is there a text version of this, so I can keep it with me without having to rewatch it over and over? :P
He actually used to do just text before he started voicing his videos. I learn better from voice/lecture style, but I see where you're coming from.
+Goomjob no they mean like a document they can have not a mute video
XDarkFableX Ohhh, I see. I think gaijin would be too lazy for that :P
Brandon Graham
just use the captions and have a hilarious document that makes no sense.
3:04 So this is where World got it, makes using the glaives SO much easier
that 30crt speed bug is gonna do good with the shagaru magala glaive since it has good crt.
Man, Cross/Gen looks gorgeous. Much more so than 4U.
They simplified it... thank christ
could you make a guide video for XX kinsect? there're are more upgrades and I really like a clean guides like yours! thanks.
you probably should have included the change about the single buffs in this game:
double up/triple up and the effects of the single buffs are no longer tied together. for example with the balanced bug, if you grab red, you'll get a +5 atk boost for 60 seconds, no matter what other extracts you grab (grabbing white or even the triple up before red runs out does not prolong the +5 atk boost any more!). same for white with 10% affinity for 90 seconds, and orange with +5 defense for 45 seconds.
that makes the triple up extender bug a bit worse, as you will fight a third of the time without the attack boost at least (when grabbing red last), and makes the complete loss of atk or defense boosts on the speed1 bug a bit more bearable.
+Ski Gloves Yeah, just noticed that.
Welp, out with cow skulls and in with Gold Egyptian Beetles?
Jaeger Bombastic I'll definitely be trying out some of the other bugs. My Glaive is primarily my solo weapon so Elscarad has less going for it. Speed 1, 2 and Power 1 have me interested more than Elscarad.
Not "Monster Hunter X: Ultimate - Kinsect Guide", it's "Monster Hunter X: - Ultimate Kinsect Guide"
I thought I was going crazy.
Ganji you are my saviour! Thank you!!!!
there's one thing that i don't understand: about the Wide range you said it's a nice buff if we are playing with other glaive users. if i grab orange everyone gets orange too. what? the bug gets the juice? or the player gets the juice bonus? (like i grabbed orange and commanded the bug to come to me and give me the buff). but later you say if i get red i see the effects but only i get the attack buff. what does that mean? only works for green, white and yellow? i'm kind of confused
When you call the bug back and get an extract, fellow IG users in the area will get it as well. But only IG users. Oddly enough, non-IG users still get the glowing animation but they did not actually get a buff.
oh i see. thanks! that's fun and odd XD
Can we get an updated version of this. To explain why Speed 1 is just as good as balanced? As well as updated info.
(wall of text if expanded)
Anyway, it seems that bugs are now more geared towards personal playstyle rather than knowledge of the growth tree, which works a whole lot better in my opinion.
How to unlock ability to trade with the cat in 1:03 ?
Up to now I can only trade herb type things.
Oh man im happy it's simpler now, easier to get to insect glaiving
Im pretty sure that they made 2 kinds of bugs: the blunt type and the cutting type... but what you showed is more like 1 type of bug only so that makes me a bit confused.
EHR MAH GERD! I am so excited for glaive in MHX! (that is if we get it in the west...)
So they simplified the upgrade process but the best bug is still the good 'ol effect extender meaning not much changed there?
Oh, so THAT is why i'm getting these atk ups, def ups and critical ups
very interesting to know that its easier ^^
Hello Gajin, i have a question. Since i am thinking about my main weapon in MHGEN and Instect Glave is on the List. Do you get the Balanced bug befor highrank? since i am planning to complete the villiage bevor i start to move into the guild hall ^^".
no I'm pretty sure you can't
+Carlos Luis Arias actually, you can. It will take longer and you will probably have difficulties affording it, but as long as you unlock the bee farm, it is possible to get it in Low Rank. I'm HR2 in guild and am on 3 star village quest and I have one, even though there were many difficulties
+GreenGengar459 Oh ok thanks for correcting me, I thought there were some high rank exclusive items in the upgrade process but I guess not
Hey gaijinhunter can u make a video om kinsects in MHGU ?
Speed 1 is by far the best imo. This game is all about critical boost to do the most damage. The 30% crit you get from a white buff is 12% more damage then.
So does Wide Range work as it's said in the video? Me and a friend tested this and he doesn't get the extract itself but seems to get the buff the extract gives to the user. Wanted to know if this is how it's meant to be or if something changed in the US release.
when and how do you get the bug traitor option to farm the nectars and which quests do you have to do to unlock it?
16:25 OHHH! THAT is why I keep getting a shiny blast randomly in rooms.
I wonder if in XX with the kindsect hunter art the attack indsect could become viable since brave style is about getting up close and personal.
Wait, I lost it somewhere. The video says that 100 weight is enough to send the kinsect about 9 times but mine is untouched and I can send it many more times. I probably understood something wrong but I can't find what exactly. Help me out ?
How long into the village quests does it take to unlock the bug farm, as well as the extra trade carts?
Just wondering if there is a Blunt Version, Kinsect-Wise I mean, showing the stats and what not like this one of the different kinds of upgrades and so on.
Roark Archswift yes it's exactly the same except it's blunt
So I came late to the party and just started Gen now, but to make it short, do I just have to feed the kinsect until the power, weight, and speed all get up 6/10 to get the balanced (or the effect extender?) kinsect? I'm sorry, I can't seem to understand it clearly. I got so used to 4U's system in getting Bilbobrix/Ladytower.
does the element kinsect affect the overall weapon element? like, if i made a thunder kinsect for a thunder glaive, would the glaive have more elemental damage or naw?
Kinsect stats only affect the kinsect. The weapon is always the same type and element as listed.
