@T.J. Kong yeah but if you're familiar with your vehicle the position of your steering wheel is telling you where your wheels are pointed but yeah I know he did and it's an excuse but whatever it's nothing to argue about
@T.J. Kong it's simple to know where the wheels are pointed. Turn the steering wheel to the left until it stops. Begin turning to the right and count the full 360 revolutions to stop. Turn the wheel back left, count the 360 degree turns and when half of the left to right number is reached, the wheels will be pointed ahead.
Hey Matt first I’d like to say after watching you guys for as long as I have I consider myself to be also a recovery expert. That being said when I pull a car with no recovery points from the sand forward or back I like to run my “Matt’s off road recovery rope” through the passenger compartment lower the windows and just run that sucker right around the pillars. So far I’ve pulled 3 cars out no problem but we’re still waiting for the estimate from Robby as to when we’ll be able to close the windows. You guys are great and I look forward to watching your work. I’ve never questioned anything I’ve seen you do and I appreciate the fact you’re a really good guy.
No joke, we had a big snow storm last winter and I pulled out five or six people. Each one I tried to look at it and figure out how Matt would do it. I used the handbrake, spin trick on three of them and it worked amazingly well. Getting the drivers to understand what I was trying to do was the hardest part.
I'll just say this again. The editing that Tucker does is second to none and is always fascinating. I hope everyone appreciates that because with all the good content that's found on RUclips, Tucker is the difference maker. 👌
Matt you are absolutely right about the tow points. Tow points if they exist on modern vehicles are not meant for recovery, they are meant to secure a vehicle to a flatbed tow truck. The screw in tow hooks if you can find them are only to pull a free rolling vehicle onto a flatbed. They have been known to break and I’m sure that’s why I’ve never seen you use one 👍👍
@@operator0 oh yeah I can see that! Much better to dig through a vehicle for a minute to find it than dig through snow to hook to a control arm lol Matt and I would get along absolutely perfectly
Depends, a lot of off road oriented vehicles like the Frontier Pro-4x, the Tacoma TRD Offroad/Pro, Chevy ZR2, Ford Raptor Ranger/Bronco, etc, all have frame mounted recovery points.
The second Ed said he didn’t have to work cuz he’s a cameraman- my mouth dropped 😂😂 You tell ‘em Ed!!! 😂 I definitely know it’s hard work but that was funny!!! And I know Ed didn’t mean that. ❤️🐞
Our local tow company was trailering us back from Las Vegas to Logandale when the subject of Matt's Recovery came up. He told us that Matt's team pulled him out of the mud at Stewart's Point once, while he was attempting to recover someone else. He was very complimentary about Matt's team, although he wouldn't allow Lizzy to wheel his vehicle on the pull-out. Said he needed to maintain some semblance of his dignity after getting himself stuck. I think Lizzy understood ;-)
I don't understand how anyone can tell you that you are doing your job wrong. You seem to do everything right, you are still in business being more successful than most of the people telling you how to do your job. As a automotive technician I can say a few times I have cringed but honestly sometimes you have no choice of recovery points other than what's available and that is totally understandable! Great job Matt and the MORR crew!!
How awesome would it be if you guys organized Suzuki SJ Flash Mob.. just imagine ed's reaction when he see all those SJ's, and then BOOM out rolls the golden nugget. I'm sure everyone that owns a SJ is following the build.

@@CorruptDB Worst part is they are in the Banana. I hope Ed wasn't paying too much attention. Problem I see is that Ed is a listener and he thinks about what he hears.
I think you absolutely do recoveries the right way for each situation, I for one have learned from these videos. Guy in a newer Mitsubishi suv drove into a culvert by my house last week, wasn’t terribly stuck but not all the tires were on the ground and it’s AWD system was useless. I soft shackled a rear LCA and pulled with just enough pressure for him back out of the ditch. Took a few minutes and no damage done.
I fully agree with Matt about towing points, When undergoing training they teach you all about towing points, but every recovery is different. Matt was towing in sand, he uses ropes that expand, hence they don't snatch with an excessive force.. If he had used chains they wouldn't give and severely snatch the front of the car causing damage. A good recovery man/lady assesses the recovery, then goes into action. 99% of recoverys are roadside so it's just a matter of loading them up and moving out Accidental damage does occasionally happen. We always get the customer to sign a waver stating that damage can occur and they agree to this before we touch the vehicle. After all they themselves got into a bad situation, they must accept responsibility for this action. Keep up the good wotk Matt, you have a team that works together and achieve the desired results.
Your content never gets old , always enjoy watching Matt and friends do their thing !! “We’ll get em out” Ed always on cue with the weather is just a bonus !!

Most people don't understand that most those car's aren't made to be recovered, just driven on the tar, bitumen, and ye where you conect sometimes may bend if you give excessive force, but when you only help them out without excessive jerk, or responsibly, there is less chance, great recoverys, all the best to yous and your loved ones

Matt is a ,,, no worries ,,on the house type of guy,, have seen it multiple times ,,, amazing folks love these folks ,,, we need more of these types of people on earth , things would be just fine
For what it is worth here... I don't do offroad recovery but I do tow a lot with a rollback. I have done so in Incident Management and Consent Tow and I still have my IM license. Every vehicle has proper recovery points, frame hooks, but they are not always accessible by any means. When you deal with vehicles lost in the sand people need to remember that you cannot magically scoop out all of the sand to get to that quirky little frame hook on that toyota, for example. What the vast majority of us would do in IM is just use a big j-hook v bridle on our winches and just grab the axles or something sturdy. Also, a lot of vehicles frame hooks are behind the tires, which I am 100% sure would run into issues with you pulling them out. That being said though, you use shackles rather than mini j's or t hooks. Anyone that complains about the way y'all recover is just being silly
The parking brake is muscle memory. You use it or lose it so you get in the habit of pulling the handle when you park. The fact that it won’t roll doesn’t change that.

And not all steering wheels line up straight with the tires so while the steering wheel may be straight the tires may not be.
I love it every time I see Ed. Keep him busy. I'm sure he loves it! Much love to you, your family, and your awesome crew!
I love him always causally smoking a stog, Ed's the man
That was amazing seeing the 51st job that the Golden Nugget pulled....Mr. Matt
"Still waiting for the estimate from Robby to close the windows" -- I'm dying. Brilliant.
No joke, we had a big snow storm last winter and I pulled out five or six people. Each one I tried to look at it and figure out how Matt would do it. I used the handbrake, spin trick on three of them and it worked amazingly well. Getting the drivers to understand what I was trying to do was the hardest part.
Still waiting for the estimate…that’s hilarious 🤣
That was hilarious, I thought you were going to say you "run that sucker around the idiots neck".
Wait a minute there LS 66! I thought I was becoming the recovery expert from watching Matt for 2 years now! ;-))
can't get tired of the MORRVAIR engine sound, that thing's sweet!
WOW, you guys got 1.6M subs? congrats team!
1.16M not 1.6M.
I'll just say this again. The editing that Tucker does is second to none and is always fascinating. I hope everyone appreciates that because with all the good content that's found on RUclips, Tucker is the difference maker. 👌
Tucker hasn’t edited a video in like a year.
5:30 You can hear that not one smallest detail in the engine is bad, sound so healthy and clean and AMAZING
"I'm putting my guy in there. He's used to me yelling at him."
🤣
Matt you are absolutely right about the tow points. Tow points if they exist on modern vehicles are not meant for recovery, they are meant to secure a vehicle to a flatbed tow truck. The screw in tow hooks if you can find them are only to pull a free rolling vehicle onto a flatbed. They have been known to break and I’m sure that’s why I’ve never seen you use one 👍👍
He has used them before, but he hates it. I think I've only seen him use them on snow recoveries.
@@Falinzin I’m sure he wouldn’t hook up to a control arm in those cases
100%
The second Ed said he didn’t have to work cuz he’s a cameraman- my mouth dropped 😂😂
You tell ‘em Ed!!! 😂
I definitely know it’s hard work but that was funny!!! And I know Ed didn’t mean that. ❤️🐞
@@MattsOffRoadRecovery - I bet a lot of people like to razz Trevor. He’s so razzable 🤣
At least they didn't make Ed run with the camera!
Note the tow truck driver did the same here....
Matt almost slipped! Great content. I am not a recovery expert but I am good at watching your videos. Carry on.
Ed calls it the Golden Nugget, and he knows he owns it. He just doesn't know that it's getting a full restoration and upgrades.
Matt said the joke was that he couldn't remember which vehicle he was driving, not a slip.
@@JohnFL I’m pretty sure he almost slipped. You can hear it in his voice that he almost messed up.
Another awesome video of Matt just showing how kind he is to help others, even the competition.
When you think about it are they really competition? Maybe kinda but...
The sound of the Morvair when it's working hard at lowish revs is just awesome :-)
Matt you almost slipped up and said Golden Nugget nice save on that. In my opinion anyone that says you are doing it wrong have them come and do your job so they can show you the proper way. You guys are good at what you do and with your experience you always get the job done. Keep up the great work
Seriously Matt, so many of these beachgoers don’t have a clue when it comes to off road. The owner of the Subaru was steering right side while the Jeep was heading west. He was blissfully unaware, but the smile on his face showed how happy he was to be getting out of nature’s grip. Thanks for another interesting video.
Sure love seeing Ed tag along, his laugh is contagious! Can’t wait to see his reaction 👍🏻
Agree. When Ed is along and we get to hear that laugh, it's a special one.
Matt I see you brought your #1 guy Ed with you today! He loves doing this with you and keeps him busy! Skeeter is learning the ropes just like Lizzy had to and is coming along fine! Good job helping these people out of bad situations. Keep up the good work. Now get on that big wrecker! 😀
Come on Matt! Everyone knows the Toyota Carola comes standard with heavy duty recovery bumpers front and rear!!!
I never knew that
@Eric you made me spill my coffee :D :D :D
Giving the flatbed driver a shirt too and not making him feel dumb is why I love this channel.
That's awesome the golden morvana helped so many people out! So glad you caught that!
Hi Matt, I might have been one of them people questioning you about recovery point on cars and yes I know not all vehicles have ideal recovery point and I apologise if I was questioning you, keep up the good work.
…since you got the Golden Nug…, Moorrvair…. It’s like trying to remember your kids names. You get so many of them you can’t call them the right one! And knowing Ed was right there makes it more funny!
Howdy howdy, lets get rowdy!
Fancy seeing you here Scott, Long time subscriber?
After a hurricane in Florida the most loved and popular people are the power company trucks and employees… You on the other hand are loved an appreciated every day.. keep on with the great work😎
I love when you give the free tows to help out the people.
Good morning all, goodnight to some 😉 We need to see Ed behind the wheel again it’s been a while (he still does a great job with the camera and the weather)
Great job you guys Matt you almost blew it but that’s OK I don’t think Ed knew what you were talking about
Sadly, someone told him.
Ed calls it Golden Nugget too, but he doesn't know it's getting a full restoration and upgrades
I look forward to these videos, always. Thank you Matt, family and friends. And by the way, in those reflective sunglasses, Lizzie, you look like a secret agent. 😎
props to the first customer and the other recovery driver for both being great sports.
I was just watching Robbies Video on the RoCon Trailer and As a 67 yearold man I would not feel safe driving the Rocon up the ramp because if I was to start to fall over(AS OLD GUYS DO) There is no place to put your feet down to regain your balance going up the ramp . That is why I thought you should of made it wider using a board on either side of the ramp . Other than that it came out GREAT . You all have put a lot of love , heart and soul into rebuilding Ed's toys . He will never forget , Until he goes to load the Rocon onto the trailer and losses his balance out in the middle of no where and Breaks a leg ... That would be Sad .
I'd love to see a video of how everyone on the channel is connected/met. Watched y'all for years thinking Lizzie was Matt's Daughter. Yes we love watching all the fun, but part of the fun is watching yall interact. I'd even watch a Matt origin story.
You keep me amazed at how generous of a person you are in helping people out. Keep up the great work, your reward will be great in heaven.
I think the how man he comps so many jobs he probably gets in trouble with the accountant or his wife when there like how many jobs you do today 8 where's the invoices oh I did them all for free I know he has a giving heart but he probably lets a lot of money get away poor Matt blessed with a kind heart
Almost spilling the beans in front of Ed that was priceless!!!!
As a tow truck operator yeah New cars don't have recovery points. So yeah use the most suitable point to hook up to do the job. The almost slip up on the nugget is priceless. Keep doing what you do
I liked your talk about hooking points or lack of. For 42 years running a road grader, I encounter ed that when people would get stuck in snow.
Best recovery I've seen on the channel to date was Matt stopping very quickly after accidentally mentioning the golden n.....evermind. Nice work, thanks for watching!
Right? He should put another mark on the rollbar for that "recovery"
I hope you started the process by saying "we'll get em out"!!!
Hey Matt Nice recovery on that last sentence
You almost spilled the beans good recovery pun intended. Love the channel!
99% of recoverys are roadside so it's just a matter of loading them up and moving out
Accidental damage does occasionally happen.
Matt I believe the name you were searching for there was BANANA! Great job as always. Seriously though for a long time I thought the 5 things were;
1) Don't run over the rope!
2) Don't run over the rope!
3) Don't run over the rope!
4) Don't run over the rope!
5) Don't run over the rope!
Love your channel keep it up guys. Great content.
The Golden Nugget reveal to Ed needs to be a live event.
YES!!!!
💪
I think bits and pieces... Ed is an old timer, he isnt youtube friendly (cuss words, smoking and probably drinking😂🤷♂️) whatever is chosen to show from all the channels it's going to be great... I'd prefer them all to do a unveiling
I have a feeling that Ed will participate in the "off road recovery olympics" with his own vehicle, without even knowing he was registered. (In a special light duty event of course.)
@@mattgraham1983 Plus, Ed does not do the internet at all anyway and likely does not own a computer.
My Mom did own a computer, but only because my late father got one for us in 1991 or so and then upgraded that about a year before he died and she kept using it until I helped her upgrade to a new one in 2005 and I still have that old PC after she died in 2012.
It's not my main box, but used to capture analog tracks for digitizing into a playlist using audacity so it does not go online (can't, really) these days.
Disregard the peeps. Keep doing your thing! You got it. And Lizzy, Trevor, and the rest of the crew rock!!
Perfect way to start the work day
Good to see Ed back on the job again . Started thinking he was going into retirement .
Hahaha😂 the golden.... Morrvair 😂
You made my day 🙏
I've gone to school for recovery and you are doing exactly what is taught and the class I took was to be certified for 3 years in California for doing recoveries for California highway patrol
Matt came SO CLOSE to accidentally spilling the beans on the nugget! 😄
Nice catch, Matt.
How so?
Ed knows they call it the Golden Nugget.
What he doesn't know is the full detail of what's being done to it.
The parking brake is muscle memory.
You use it or lose it so you get in the habit of pulling the handle when you park. The fact that it won’t roll doesn’t change that.
Yup when I was about 20 I got part way through a rear drum brake job on a stick shift car and finally realized why the drums wouldn’t come off!😉🤣
What's a Parking Brake? (I'm asking for a friend here in Florida.)
It’s force of habit for me too.
Also I end up locking the door too even when I’m not walking away and know I’m shortly getting back in again.
"Got it under control"? That's a great opening line!🤣🤣
Skeeter is always positive and in good spirits!
Thank you for sharing your life with us all, its awesome .
I love seeing you rescue the wrecker🤣 Flippin priceless!!!
Much respect to all of you be safe and keep up the great work!!!
Matt the slip at the end yikes luckily you covered it quick put it down to lots of work and not enough water either way got to be hard now its getting so close to reveal I'm totally pumped for Ed. Awesome recoverys and nice work pulling the flat bed and the oh it's a stroker just as a passing comment the 4.0 can pull a train id love to do a stroker in mine 👍🇦🇺
I suspect Ed knows something's happening... he's just keeping quiet about it.
I love watching/listening to that Golen 4.6 Stroker doing WORK. Currently have one on order for my LJ and can not wait until it arrives!
That kinetic rope principle I found out about while jump starting on a single water ski with my wife driving the tow boat!
I bought a really pricey tow rope. While she idled out I took 3 loops of rope in my left hand and when the boat pulled tight I yelled hit it while tossing the coils in the air and just as the rope starts to pull? You step on to the ski from there it's indescribable the acceleration as its like a rubber band and all that stored up energy just smoothly transfers into accelerating you to speed!
No strain on your joints. No Being a submarine while the boat pul!s you up!
I was young (early 30's) and weighed 165 pounds. I was wirery! 6' 1"
Best time of our lives. My wife was the best at driving a jet boat which had a 455 Oldsmobile pushing a Berkley pump.
Life time ago, but your pull ropes reminded me of then!
Thanks!
Hey @mattsoffroad,
The guys at the sand hollow toll deserves and have earned a cameo or brief feature in one of your episodes.
Matt does more recoveries in a day than those jeep recovery guys do in 5 years. Plus they pull out 4X4 with tow and recovery points
Recovering 2WD cars from 4WD situations takes a certain finesse that Matt has perfected!
I don't have experience with sand but a lot of these people seem to be way, WAY overestimating their vehicles.
@@randomvideosn0where I suppose that most folks are used to pointing their vehicles in a particular direction without questioning it’s performance abilities. Then there are those situations when “ego” comes into play.
Great job. I know you “didn’t “ show up the other tow company. But you did and that was priceless.
Remember. Matt had some humble pie last week when he "made a call" to Rudy.
51 Golden Morvair!! Unsafe at any speed !! Cheers!
Y’all can do whatever you want but i hate to see people not wearing seatbelts. Especially with past experience seeing what has happened to friends who haven’t
When does Matt's Off Road Recovery Simulator get released and on what platforms will it be available?
I hope it goes to steam
Awesome work Matt!! I definitely liked watching this video where it was just one right after another!!! That was pretty cool I thought and it wasn’t all broken up into three or four different things in one video!! Well awesome video once again buddy and remember keep up all the hard work buddy!!!! Oh where was Trevor at this video??? I don’t remember seeing him any were!!! Skeeter you didn’t take his job from him did you??? Lol!! You both are definitely good at getting awesome video for sure!!!!
IMHO, Matt's eternal optimism and can do attitude is his greatest asset. In spite of his mistakes, when it happens, he never gives up, there's ALWAYS a way.
My family and I love your show we watch all the time. I’m new to this RUclips stuff and I am learning how to use it. I just figured out how to add comments. We love what you all are doing for Ed, we can’t wait for you all to be done with it. God bless you all for all your hard work and fundraising you all do.
