Dear Arturia: Can someone please respond to the multiple comments and Reddit posts about the Keylab Essential 61 MK 3 not connecting properly to Logic? It plays the VST / AU synths just fine, but Logic DAW does not allow the Keylab to control the DAW itself as advertised.
I had the same issue. I got it yesterday. But after hours of working around i found a solution. I don't know if it would work for you. But here's the thing. I opened the control surface setup and then clicked on new then click install. Select Keylab essential 61/49, whatever your product is, and then click add. After that on the left side select Input and Output port both as "KL essential mk3 MIDI". After this go to control surfaces>Settings> MIDI Controllers and check the checkbox corresponding to your midi keyboard name. In my Logic the checkbox was kept unchecked. This prevented the controller to communicate with the DAW properly. It was working fine in Ableton without doing anything. But for Logic i had to do these.
@@AshwinBhaskar Oddly, I tried that too I believe, and it just wouldn’t work. So I gave up. Two days later, for reasons only known to the Logic Pro God himself, Logic suddenly started to recognize the keyboard 🎹 and it worked great. All faders, knobs and DAW controls began functioning. Nothing was changed by me by that point. So I have no clue if it simply takes several cycles for the Logic engine to recognize and believe that you want to use the Keylab to control the DAW like that or not… or if it’s just some strange bug / glitch that may have gotten patched up by Arturia via the Software Center that updates automatically. But your workaround was as solid as I’ve read … I’ve seen it a few times since I asked that question 👍🏻👍🏻

@@TopherRUclipsr Hey! I downloaded Arturia's LOGIC PRO SCRIPTS from their website, and that got the keys to work.. but the knobs and parameters aren't responding to native Logic Pro plugins or sounds. The knobs only work when I am on ANALOG LAB V for some reason. I did the Mackie Logic controls in CONTROL SURFACE but it made Logic not respond to the keys at all even with the correct in/out, & correct settings on midi control center. Do you have any solutions??
Sadly the video says that the transport keys are pretty self explanatory. They skip over a demo of them as it would clearly show how useless they really are. The Stop, Play Record buttons are fine. Tap and Metronome is also pretty easy, but the Loop and FWD REV buttons are totally useless. The loop button just turns on and off the loop but doesn't allow you to set the start or end point of it. That would be an essential feature that anyone making music would need as you need to move this all the time. So as you need to use the mouse on the screen to make adjustments you might as well have no button at all. The FWD / REV are a single click to move you forwards or backwards to the start of a single bar. That is fine if you want to move a single bar or start at the beginning of the next bar. But if you are actually trying to navigate around in your music, like get from Bar 130 to Bar 29, you'd need to click the button in this case 101 times to make the movement. So it really isn't functional for actually transport navigating around the DAW. By comparison, their cheap $99 minilab3 allows you to press a shift key and that enables the main control encoder to swap from track movement mode, to transport mode and you can move freely back and forth inside a track to get to the correct position with ease of just turning the knob. A simple case of Arturia obscuring the design flaws by simply not showing them to you.
so, the same problem as everybody else? I can't use the sliders or controllers in Logic Pro X, only able to use the keyboard? Is there something I do wrong? With analog lab is works normally, everything
I made it working in Logic. You need to download a script from their website (make sure you downloaded the Essential script and not another). Install it and proceed with the manual that is in the downloaded archive. Then you have to restart Logic multiple times. I do not know the exact count, but after several restarts it started to work. Not all buttons are working (for instance quantize or scale or arp) but it's better than nothing
