  • First listen to what I think is Christian hardcore metal? Living Sacrifice and the song "Bloodwork" again a new band to me, and stoked to see what Living Sacrifice have to offer up, so let's dive in and listen to Bloodwork from Living Sacrifice.
Living Sacrifice is an American heavy metal band formed in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1989. The band has released eight studio albums, out of which the first three were recorded under R.E.X. Records with their original vocalist Darren Johnson as a more thrash metal and death metal oriented band.

This album slams, they are amazing live. They are metal to me. The drummer kills it. They a had percussionist which gave that tribal. Thank you for reviewing this. Keep up the good work. Extol fan my self. Extol - Undeceived will always crush.

This is my favorite album by them and my number 1 favorite song on this album is "Burn The End"... I've been listening to them since they were a new band and have NEVER been disappointed by anything they have released... Their self titled album was very thrash metal and all their albums following kept up with the evolution of metal music... They've always kept the perfect dynamic of melody and heavy in their music...

It's a good band. Their self-titled album was more Slayer-ish thrash, then they went into more of a Death/Thrash sound on their second album (Nonexistent) and their third (Inhabit). I think Inhabit is their best album. Now they are more of a Metalcore band.

Being a drummer, I loved to see them live when they had 2 or 3 drummers live (1 drum set and 1 or 2 percussionists, Bryan Gray from The Blamed being the other percussionist), 2 guitarists and a bassist -- in the front row you could really feel the rhythms and riffs shaking your brain. Their best album in my opinion is their self titled album which was their first album. They had 3 albums before Reborn but they're not on Spotify for some reason. Their self titled album sounds like a Christian version of Slayer and actually holds its own and it's probably one of my top metal albums of all time. Then they experimented with 2 death metal albums before coming up with a death metal/thrash metal/metalcore hybrid sound with Reborn.

Becoming The Archetype which was mentioned as a similar artist is possibly my favorite metal band. They never got the recognition they deserved, but they put out 5 albums over a relatively short career. Their first and third albums are my favorite. Definitely check them out! More progressive that LS, but in a similar vein. They were huge fans of both LS and Extol so you can hear both bands in their music.

Their song, "Screwtape" is quite good, though. I have a copy of _Inhabit_ on disk and I think their first album on cassette somewhere.
