    ROBIN HOOD MEN IN TIGHTS MOVIE REACTION | 0:00 - 33:26
    ROBIN HOOD MEN IN TIGHTS MOVIE REVIEW | 33:27 - 34:53
    Robin Hood Men In Tights Movie Description:
    Crusading nobleman Robin of Loxley (Cary Elwes) escapes from prison in Jerusalem and returns home to find that the evil Prince John (Richard Lewis) has confiscated his family estate and is abusing the citizenry. Robin enlists his blind attendant, Blinkin (Mark Blankfield), his friend Will Scarlett O'Hara (Matthew Porretta) and Little John (Eric Allan Kramer) to help regain his home. Robin also hopes to woo the beautiful Maid Marian (Amy Yasbeck), but her chastity belt may prove a challenge.
    Robin Hood: Men in Tights is a 1993 American musical adventure comedy film and a parody of the Robin Hood story. The film was produced and directed by Mel Brooks, co-written by Brooks, Evan Chandler, and J. David Shapiro based on a story by Chandler and Shapiro, and stars Cary Elwes, Richard Lewis, and Dave Chappelle in his film debut. It includes frequent comedic references to previous Robin Hood films (particularly Prince of Thieves, upon which the plot is loosely structured, Disney's Robin Hood, and the 1938 Errol Flynn adaptation, The Adventures of Robin Hood).
    The film also features Brooks in a minor role; the first time he had appeared in one of his own films in which he does not receive top billing or play the lead role since Young Frankenstein. In addition to Brooks, it features cameos from Brooks regulars Dom DeLuise, Dick Van Patten, and Rudy De Luca.

I would recommend watching the 1938 “The Adventures of Robin Hood” if you want to see where some of the plot and aesthetics that weren’t a parody of Prince of Thieves comes from. Hope you enjoy the recommendation and keep up the fantastic content.

    Fun fact, you asked how where Mel brooks gets his sense of humor, he was a combat engineer for the us army, European theatre. One of his first gags was hooking up a loud speaker and blasting a famous Jewish singer (brooks himself also Jewish) to drown out nazi propaganda. I've heard that either when they were filming the first movie or rehearsing the stage musical an old man came up to Mel Brooks and said he couldn't portray WW2 like that because "I was in WW2, there's nothing funny about it. To which Mel Brooks replied "You were in WW2? I was in WW2! I didn't see you there!"

    • @SynchronizorVideos
      @SynchronizorVideos 8 месяцев назад +1

      It started well before the war. Brooks was a small, weak kid, and the youngest of four brothers in a poor family whose father died when he was two. He dealt with a lot of bullying and teasing growing up, and used jokes and comedy as a way to cope and get out of situations. He turned that into a career in comedy and show business starting at age 14.

      Yes, I agree that as a comedienne her role here was brilliant. Not only did The Simpsons start on her show, she was the original voice of Marge. On top of that, she hated the cartoon. She didn't think anything of it, that it would not go anywhere, and thought it should be cancelled. However, once The Simpsons had gained a level of fame that her show never had, she was known to tout that if it wasn't for her and how her show "nurtured" them; that they would not have made it and if it wasn't for her, we wouldn't have them. She is also known to have mentioned that she was glad that she could help them get a start and happy for their success. Still, she was absolutely brilliant in this movie.

He had a minor lisp, he copied some of his American mother's speaking habits and he drank heavily to muster up the courage to speak in public because of the first 2 reasons. That said, the man had a powerful way about him that people listened to. The speech they're poking fun of was actually very important and inspired a lot of soldiers. I learned part of it for an acting class and listened to the last few paragraphs of it (all we had time for) over and over to copy him as best I could. He may have talked a little funny but, the man knew _what_ to say.
