I have lived here in the area of the video for 15 years and even for a year right on one of those oxbow lakes he passed by. I can tell you the guy has brass B****. Those little canals and creeks and swampy areas on the edge of the lakes have anacondas 6" in diameter when their stomach is empty. Deeper in the woods they are bigger. Additionally there are many other things that can hurt or kill you (falling trees, stingrays, electric eels, ocelots, vipers and othe venomos snakes, getting lost, etc.) I have known or heard of people getting killed or injured by all of those things listed. Curiously, the ocelot is a much smaller cat than a jaguar or puma but I nave never heard of someone being attacked by the later but one neighbor had an ocelot attack their teenage child and it almost killed them. The kid had to kill the ocelot with his bare hands. My 13 year old at the time had a croc jump and bite at him at the edge of a lake but missed. Another child of a neighbor their child was killed by an electric eel. My cook got bitten by a viper and was in serious condition, I got hit by a tree in the head and now have a big scar, a couple months ago a younster was swiming with friends at a local place on the river and just disappeared and drowned right where they were without any struggle...probably was an eel or stingray. I watched as one of my workers had a tree fall on him and almost crushed him to death. I go places like that all the time...but never alone.

I am more focused on getting from A to B because I'm looking for new tour routes. The majority of my tarps are just generic brands on Ebay and Amazon. A few are from "Blue Stone". Just make sure it's at least 3m (9-10ft), not too heavy and it has at least 8 loops for tying down. I use a Superlight DD tarp for hiking. For the hammock any nylon hammock is fine so buy a cheap one and see if you like it. Make sure it has two zippers on the door. Make sure it's not heavy. The Hennessey Hammock is way too heavy.

Yes! I've been wanting to do something like that for a while. I just wasn't sure if anyone would be interested. I'll try to do this over the next month or two. Thanks for the suggestion.

my favourite expedition on RUclips by far! I hope to do this one day is my home town. koombooloomba state forest and make my way down to the coast whilst avoiding Estuarine Crocodiles. The tropics here are 226km away from the Daintree river with very similar vegetation. I love your knowledge and you're very inspirational. did you say that you're using a map, and a gps?
Thanks! Yes, I bring a GPS most of the time. The bad news is that Garmin discontinued "Birdseye" and is now calling it "Birdseye Direct" which means my device is now obsolete for getting new satellite imagery. For me this is key for an always changing river. This past year I just saw a new oxbow lake formed in this area! The good news is that the new Birdseye Direct doesn't require a yearly subscription which was $30 per year. I have a GPSMAP 78S marine but will now have to buy a new thing. Thanks for watching.
I have a question. You said it is only you now in the canal. I wonder how you filmed the part you are coming rafting and not the regular going forward movement?
I think you mean when I'm moving towards the camera. You place the camera, hit the record button then walk back, turn around then move towards the camera.
I am either holding the camera or setting it on something. Here is a long shot where I have to come back to get the camera. ruclips.net/video/2nnSTsQnrBg/видео.html
A rubber boat does not seem to be a good idea for a lonely journey through the jungle. If some boughs or trunks in the water had torn its bottom the journey could have ended abruptly - and could turn into catastrophy. As for piranhas, I could read and watch some experience about them - and I am far from being an expert, but it seems that they are present only at some places (in a given river, for example) and their behaviour (whether it is calm or ferocious) might depend on the season (rainy or not - and perhaps on the exact geographic location, too). So, it does not seem to be that simple that "they did not bite me - it is just a Hollywood idea that they would attack you". It might be true that most wild animals are not dangerous most of the time, and even caymans will escape from you - well, if you are not in the water of a swamp in the middle of the night... Jaguars might be dangerous even if you sleep in your hammock in the jungle. So, building a fire for night and having a gun nearby might prove to be useful - even if he was lucky enough not to meet any jaguar during a few days. When on foot, venomous snakes are a threat, too. And having serums is advisable. He did not mention the problem of mosquitoes and malaria, etiher, which is very real, as far as I know.
Hi, thanks for the lengthy comment! These boats cost over $1K and they are not made of rubber. They are made specifically for rivers, rocks and branches. It is true that you can swim with piranhas and not get eaten alive. I've done it many times. There are lots of animals which can be dangerous if you provoke them but all would rather avoid you at all costs. I have also gone boating on lakes with caimans at night. Even then they will still avoid you unless stunned by your flashlight. There are very few snakes in this area unlike other areas of Peru but I always watch where I step. I did have a jaguar come into my camp a few years ago but it kept it's distance and left after I started making noise. You can look up cases of Malaria, Dengue and Yellow Fever for the area you visit beforehand. That's really how it is and I've been taking packrafting groups out to these areas for years now. Thanks again for your comment and thanks for watching.

This is the first time I have heard of "packrafting." If you know your waterways, and can deal with caymen and anacondas, this has to be the way to travel. The speed at which you can travel is breath-taking. You might need two or 3 repair patches, just in case.
This is true. You can't just walk through the jungle, you have to take a river in order to travel any sort of distance. Using a 5 lb packraft means you can roll it up and carry it to an oxbow lake which isn't connected to the main river such as "Lake Huitoto" in this video: ruclips.net/video/WVIVr4LQxyU/видео.html Yes, for repair Tyvek tape and Aquaseal are the most popular for in the field.

You can! Let me know when you can make it down here: incanexpeditions.com/rafting/laberinto-oxbow-lake-creek-rafting-with-hammock-camping-expedition-6-days
Wow wow wow💗👍👍
How can you be that close to the water in a small kayak, that’s scary 😰
Superb and interesting
I love your video
Thank you for a great video, also you look like Tony Hawk.
Thanks for watching! Tony Hawk huh? That's a first. Skate or die dude.
this was so cool
Awesome video
Hi, nice video! May I ask what brand tarp and hammock you use and advise for a trip to the Amazon?
The majority of my tarps are just generic brands on Ebay and Amazon. A few are from "Blue Stone". Just make sure it's at least 3m (9-10ft), not too heavy and it has at least 8 loops for tying down. I use a Superlight DD tarp for hiking. For the hammock any nylon hammock is fine so buy a cheap one and see if you like it. Make sure it has two zippers on the door. Make sure it's not heavy. The Hennessey Hammock is way too heavy.
@@mfernandasalinas477 Gracias!
This video is such a gem!! Really great work sir!
Thank you for watching sir!
I actually would love to this in my lifetime. Unfortunately, my balls are not stee but merely a pair of shrunk prune. Awesome video dude!
It's not so crazy. I can take you there with or without balls.
Hey man, I love the video. I'm planning to go on a similar trip but in Asia. Could you do a tutorial about must have things in the jungle? It would be very useful
Yes! I've been wanting to do something like that for a while. I just wasn't sure if anyone would be interested. I'll try to do this over the next month or two. Thanks for the suggestion.
this is awesome!
It deserves million of viewer than other videos w/ no efforts
Thank you Derrick. I appreciate that very much.
Very well done.. felt like I was there, thank you
I'm glad you liked it.
I don’t know why but I laghfed so hard when u said that tree looks like the thing at the gas station
Haha! I know. I think the stick was long enough to get that bottom to top waving motion like when the thing at the gas station blows air in from the bottom which moves to the top of the doll. That's hilarious. Thanks for watching.
I know I'm late, but thank you for this video. I was looking for something similar to this, basically kayak or canoe thru the Amazon River with some crowded water ways, with maybe some bits of jungle exploration. This video did it for me this evening 😁👍
I'm glad this is what you were looking for. I also look for similar videos but have not found any. I guess I'll have to make another one soon. Thanks for watching!
Same here buddy
Awesome trip man!
Amazing ...loved watching this..something I’d loved to have done ...maybe on a smaller scale ..eeeerrr lot smaller ....very enjoyable to watch ..
Thanks! I also do some shorter trips in the Manu National Park area if you're ever down this way. Thanks for watching.
What amazing adventure!
wow its a great expidition by soloing . this was amazing with your courage
That was dope
This is awesome!
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it.
@@IncanExpeditions thanks for reply.your video is amazing and wow what a genuine adventure
my favourite expedition on RUclips by far!
You place the camera, hit the record button then walk back, turn around then move towards the camera.
this is so sick♥♥♥
Hey good stuff man
Thanks!
he mentioned that 'it's just me and the forest'.....but who was holding the camera & recording all his movements ?
Amazing video! It seems you have great love to nature. I wish you have more and more advetures of such kind. Greetings from Far East Russia- Amur rives area.
Thanks! Yes, nature is where it's at. I do plan on more adventures so stay tuned..
@@IncanExpeditions I love the way you think! Nature IS DEFINITLY where this woman's heart is, and my body much of my life! Keep doing what your doing. For now I can live vicariously through you and your videos! 😉
@@time2see192 Thanks! I will do more and I will try to make them longer. Thank you for watching.
Nice video mate!! how do you arrange food? I live in the UK and looking for a budget amazon tour, any idea ? cheapest way?
Thanks! I dehydrate my own meals and offer these to DIY hikers in the Cusco area here: incachef.com I'm not sure if bringing the "Mountain House" or "Base Camp Food" freeze dried meals through customs at the airport is allowed. There are none of these kinds of camping meals available here.
Shelim, look me up when you plan on visiting the Amazon Jungle and we'll organise something bespoke to your adventure taste buds, regards, Jungle Harry @ Friends of The Amazon Jungle 🌴❤️💪👍✌️🙏
What difference you found between the huge corporate world of America and this natural serene world
I would encourage everyone to get out of the corporate thing for at least a couple of weeks.
Using a 5 lb packraft means you can roll it up and carry it to an oxbow lake which isn't connected to the main river such as "Lake Huitoto" in this video: ruclips.net/video/WVIVr4LQxyU/видео.html
Yes, for repair Tyvek tape and Aquaseal are the most popular for in the field.
man! how you did this alone !?
The animals kept me company :)
