Obviously this woman was in far over her head as soon as she set foot in the DRC. She seemed unaware that the country is but a few years removed from fighting a vicious civil war. She and her team were totally unprepared in every way, for the difficulties that anyone going into the jungle has to face. It is imperative to extensively research the area you plan to visit. I mean, I've never been to Africa, but even I know that the forest they were in is called "the forest of bees" by the locals. Had they done their homework, they could have had a completely different experience. That being said, I did very much enjoy watching this documentary!
@@grahamcawood5556 I don't really think that it's necessary to have been there to be able to understand the errors this team made. A lot of their errors are basically common sense. Tributaries dry up in the dry season, the bribery & corruption, etc.
Absolutely, they were very ill prepared for an African jungle obviously but perhaps language barrier can be contributed to it. Surely those locals know how to deal with the bees but they didn't for some reason I am not sure of.
Those kind locals really had mercy on the situation of your group. So beautiful to see people with so little help so much with the homemade citronella solution. What a gift!! 💝🕊️ Dominique is a treasure! God bless them all. Awesome documentary and thank you 😁👍🏻
17:50 - that might be the single greatest thing ever captured on film! That gorilla completely flipped you the bird, as if to say ‘get the F out of my jungle’, and he definitely knew what he was doing.
Mate where is the chemical analysis of the plants back in the states?! This is a good film that really let's it down. Would be so.interedting to know what compounds might be providing the healing effects
You can research a trip to the Congo until you're a walking encyclopedia on African logistics and dimes to donutz you will run into unforeseen adversity. That's just Africa, whether you're in Kinchasa or the Congo, Africa is a bureaucratic and logistical nightmare. No amount of research will teach you what your personal experience will be, it just gives you an idea. I admire this lady for having the heart of an explorer. Well shot video.
In several videos on the Congo one reoccurring theme seems to come up: police corruption. I've seen other people being extorted for filming without a license, though no one seems to have any knowledge of where the alleged licenses are supposed to be obtained. Her trip was poorly planned, and even on its completion I was left wondering exactly what her objectives were. She learned about many folk remedies but seemingly made no effort to ascertain their pharmacological elements. Perhaps next time she'll plan her trip better. Perhaps next time he'll have a travel agent book her into a hotel in Tahiti where she'll be safe. She was damned lucky she didn't die in that jungle with her terrible preparedness.
She would have been better off to take an Alaskan cruise and enjoy herself. And the Congo would have been better off too. I bet that tree they are chopping its bark off needs some medical treatment.
But what was the purpose of the expedition and did they found new medicine that they could use in future? It seems as if if it was just an expedition for the experience of it.
A fascinating adventure and film - thank you. However, I’m surprised that this pharmacist didn’t question the doctrine of signatures which is pre-enlightenment and pure hokum. It’s one thing to be respectful of indigenous people and their customs but another to fawn on them.
God, thank you for every nation, every tongue and every tribe and every dialect. Thank you God for rescue and deliverance and your precious thoughts and comfort for your children In Jesus mighty name. Amen 🙏

You religious people are really pushing that religious shyt of yours. Religion is cancer
It's so hard to see how this wonderful people are struggling in every day life for basic needs and assets when all the African continent is rich in resources that could provide a normal and stable living conditions.
Watching the first part of this had me wondering how these people can be so stupid. Im a jungle specialist and these people are dangerously clueless. They obviously did not do proper research or preparation. They also seem to have "guides" that are not competent. Even sleeping in TENTS wtf!
You are sooo brave ! Loved the documentary, thanks for showing us this amazing forest! The video quality was amazing !! Was it even higher than a 4 K ?
What would have helped with the bees,I believe,is to carry a smudge.( like a torch but all you want is the smoke) I have been where the bugs drive the caribou herds and in our northern bush there are clouds of them all time.
Wow, this documentary is not what I thought it was going to be about. First 40 mins was about how ill-prepared they were for their journey. How do you not bring Benadryl to the jungle??? Then finally talking about the bark used for back pain. However, there is no research of these barks/plants. This about their journey not meds in the Congo.
While watching this, I'm reminded of the saying, "knowledge is proud it knows so much. Wisdom is humbled it knows so little." These third world tribes have so much forgotten knowledge stored up. We have a lot to learn from them.💞
Like seriously, i am dissapointed in the mentality and prepardness going into a jungle. Did you expect to find animals and insects that understand you like in cartoons that would be nice to you?, or you expect to find motels you can lodge in and find clean fresh water waiting for you? sometimes you have to feed off roots and friuts. Your clothing tells me you were not ready and the continous complain of being exhausted shows you have no idea what trekking through a jungle is... thank heavens you didnt meet any hostile inhabitants or wild animals
Hey! Woohoo! Let's go to Africa, as 1'st worlders we'll be welcomed with open arms. We'll traverse the jungle with our fancy 1'st world gear and all will be peachy👌🏼🤣🙈
hahaha Yes I am a South African and I am always astounded when people from other countries think they can happily transverse or penetrate Africa safely as if it is all just one big safari camp.
8 min out in the documentary, I know they had a problem. Its amazing to see grown ass people know nothing about staying out of trouble. Flying a drone without permission is like begging for it. 😂😂
Amy, you really should consider an acting career. Whether you know it or not, you're a natural at delivering dead pan humor. Just a few scenes added here and there and this could easily be turned into an award winning mockumentary. Most of your misadventures peaked at a 7 or 8 out of 10 for how bad things could get. Just get Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy to come up with the 10s and edit those in. For example, someone wakes up in the forest of bees just ridiculously red and inflamed, but everybody tries to stay upbeat. Until the next morning when all that's left in one of the guide's is a skeleton in his sleeping bag, with a stream of army ants leading off into the distance. Someone gets taken by the police and never seen again, but the group tries to put a positive spin on it. That kind of thing. You could call it "Karen in the Jungle", guaranteed Academy Award.
The sheer ignorance of these “explores “ kills me Anyone going into the congo would and should know the rivers and jungle are more dangerous at night because of people These westerners are lucky to be alive right now Not only the animals and insects are dangerous Itsslike they never thought this through or took it seriously Just pure stupid on there part
In America you can do as Americans do. Quite often when Americans go abroad, we assume that we are able to take our customs with us. Many people have forgotten that the CIA and our lopsided foreign policy has had a strong impact on the people that live in those countries and regions!
What courage. This reminded me that a woman is stronger than a man in so many ways. A fascinating journey never been undertaken before. To make a film like that in those conditions, twice arrested, is absolutely incredible.
Main issues for subsaharans in the Congo in 2024 : 1) infectious disease and 2) tribal warfare. Very obvious correlation with violence and insecurity in the West with large population of them.
They obviously in no way whatsoever prepared for what they dreamed of. A Survival Course would have at least given them and their Porters a better chance to help each other. The way the Leader was talking about not having a phone, and yet I see her Ear Rings and Blush Makeup always in place. What she is doing is good, but next time you will be better able to use this experience as a rung in the ladder you want to climb. I enjoy watching you because you are teaching me something through your mistakes.
My unit was stuck on "taliban mountain" in Afghanistan with very low water amongst us. I know 100% that feeling. A Blackhawk har to cone and drop cases of water 😅 good times lol
The logistics group they used seemed shady from jump! "Hadn't finished this and that" etc etc bs bs and more BS! That's not something you want to hear knee deep in Congo territory. The further along into this documentary and it seems like relying on the mercy of the locals really saved you guys. The questionable logistic guys really handicapped an already dangerous excursion. Hope they didn't swindle money from you. Careful who you hire. Bottom line there is money. I've been told horror stories from Afrikaan friends. Just like anywhere else, scam city is alive and well even in the middle of nowhere. I'm glad you encountered nicer people along the way. 🕊️
Hello. You have spent most of this video complaining about absolutely everything. Really?? You had a chance to show the majestic Congo !!! I will NEVER again watch a video with YOU personally in it. You made this video so hostile. Good Day to you. 😔
Can’t believe this woman is a pharmacist and not very smart.isnt there a war in the Congo and very dangerous place to go.im surprised they made it out alive. Go somewhere safer next time.

I cannot understand all these praises. We live in 2024, and these three people make all beginner mistakes. How is this amateurism being rewarded? This is about the worst documentary that I have seen in ages!
Unless your an experienced mountaineer your not going to get very far in places like this here !! Its that simple ....most people who are tourists purchase a package through the travel agency, which includes guides with reputable reputations , they wouldve been way better , they wouldve told you that trekking through triple canopy during dry season was absolutely foolish and not what you should be doing !!!

I’m a Ugandan travel vlogger and I’ve learnt a few things from this. Thank you
Well I am a South African and as Africans we should know that this is going to be a bad idea on many fronts. See Congo and warning lights flash haha
I wish you had more of these longer videos- my daughter n myself loved watching this !!❤
