I completely agree with your review! I also just tested the same pack in a trip to Thailand. It worked great however I didn’t wear the backpack as much as I thought I would have (maybe because it’s such a small bag??). I did however discover a little “hack’. The suspended space between the hard case/handle part and the backpack straps has a little cubby perfect to stash dirty clothes or a small beach bag or light jacket. I did have a little struggle getting sorted out with the packing cubes and configuration but once I got it, it worked out well (one long cube and a smaller regular one). Packed little items in all of the odd spaces and it worked. Happy travels and keep up the great videos :)

Yess!! Been waiting for this video!! I bought the same suitcase before a holiday a few years ago but immediately foresaw the problems you mentioned, i struggled especially with having to zip the straps away to wheel it and vice versa, so i ended up returning it the next day lol! But i wish there was a perfect alternative, sometimes when running for a train or something you don't want to be dragging a suitcase behind you, especially on uneven/damaged/gravelly floor, you just want to pick up your stuff sling it on and sprint. Hopefully a perfect suitcase/backpack combo comes out soon.
Please can you do a video on the backpack you carried whilst camping in peru on the way to macchu picchu? :)

I've been waiting for this review. I bought my 40L Eagle Creek Companion last year after watching all of your videos with it. I love it too but I must say that at 66 yrs old I sometimes found it a pain and would have preferred a rolling suitcase; especially when checking in at airport and the lines were LONG. It got tiring at the end of my 2 month travels.
I am about to leave again next week for another 2 months. This time to Taiwan & Japan and then cruising home for 14 days instead of flying home and was seriously thinking about getting a rolling suitcase instead. I appreciate your honestly in this review. Maybe I'll buy that suitcase when I'm in Asia. One with 4 wheels that spin 360 but my 40L Eagle Creek will be probably best for my 2 month trip to Africa in the Fall.

we just bought a 40L osprey and we're really impressed with the quality of it. weight is a big consideration for us, so we thought that would be a major downside of your backpack. being able to wheel it places would be a nice benefit though.

I realized a suitcase is better after my 1st solo trip. I have a suitcase that has very small straps and in around 10 solo trips i used them twice, when moving with a scooter to another location. Now i just put the suitcase between my legs upside down and newer bother with straps

Hi Christie :) thanks for your insights 😊. I remember you mentioned it in the packing video, but there’s the Tropicfeel 40L suitcase/backpack that that apparently has a more regular shape and gives you the possibility to attach your rucksack onto the handle :) . Plus, the transition from suitcase to backpack seems to be easier and faster (for the times you need to climb only a few steps)😊. Hope my suggestion was useful for you :)

Hello, I am on the fence about a rolling backpack? I will be on a train fairly often and for that I like having a backpack, but that could be because that is what I am used too? Maybe I just need a carry on luggage? My backpack got really heavy in Italy and I definitely wanted wheels at the end! Seems like only using the backpack functions for 10% is not worth the loss of space? Thanks for the videos and insights!

I've been traveling with wheeled backpacks from Osprey for many years. (Like you, I rarely wear it as a backpack😄) The most important thing is the double-bar handle, so that you can put your little backpack on it. That's why I use the Osprey Sojourn 60 liters... The seize is also perfect. Your South America trip was really great to watch! Thanks!

Hi Christianne. I have been searching for the perfect rolling backpack since I like to roll about 90% of the time. I ended up finding the Osprey Daylite Carry-On Wheeled Duffel 40. It has 2 poles and the duffel handles are the backpack straps. It is not as robust of a backpack setup as the farpoint but is much easier to pack and has two poles and is lighter. Best wishes.
