Nearly 6 years on from Sandpaper gate and the one who's career never recovered was Bancroft. Warner threw Bancroft under the bus and until Sunday the 7th or January 2024, both Smith and Warner continued to play Test cricket while Bancroft hasnt been given the opportunities to play test cricket again
I understand the frustration. The reason I had to cover those particular clips is because if I use too much of the footage by itself it can set off copyright alerts and YT end up removing the video
The reason that there was no law forbidding an underarm delivery along the ground, is the same reason that there's no law forbidding the inclusion of a Chimpanzee in the playing IX - they didn't think anybody would be crazy enough to try it! Cool video, by the way.
Thats a fair point although at the time the rules of the English One Day domestic competition had a clause forbidding under arm bowling. As pointed out by Richie Benaud at the time. After the Chappell incident it was soon inserted into the Australian rules.
Trevor Chappell had the unique opportunity of ignoring his captain/brother, and going down in history as the most sporting cricketer *_EVER_* . But he blew it, and now he's regarded as one of crickets biggest ever w*nkers.
@FrankEggleton Richie Benaud, in probably the low point of his glittering career as a commentator, carried out a character assassination of Greg Chappell in his post-match summary. Benaud alleged Greg miscalculated the final overs and was forced to bowl Trevor instead of Dennis Lillee for the 50th over. But Greg actually always intended to bowl Trevor, due to the conditions. For example, an edge off Dennis with no slips would go for four, while off Trevor it would be cut off.
I’m not entirely sure if that’s true as most sources say Warner was the one who came up with the idea while Smith agreed to it. Lehmann was cleared but who really knows, only the Aussie team will ever know the truth
