  • Here's a balancing sequence you can do from anywhere - you don't even really need a yoga mat! This video is brought to you by Las Catalinas in Costa Rica - a really amazing walkable town close to Liberia, Costa Rica. They have apartments on property as well as a hotel: www.santarenah....
For this practice, you don't even need a yoga mat. We'll begin by finding our center point of gravity and then move into various balancing poses including tree pose, warrior three, some twists, and more. As always, move within a pain-free range, take breaks as needed, and remember to breathe deeply. Hope you enjoy!

LOVED this quick balance flow. Perfect to add on to my weight training. Not too much but just enough for me to feel it. My balance has gotten sooo much better this past year thanks to learning poses such as these combined with strength training.

Ah that's so awesome, Merissa! Strength and balance go hand in hand because it takes so much of the little teeny tiny muscles in our feet to do these balancing poses, and their strength helps with our stability when we lift. Love it!

I used to do yoga everyday (most of the with your videos) but high school and college prep took over my life! Now, 2 years after and in the very end of the applying to college process, I was missing yoga more badly than ever before. Dedicating these 15 minutes to something I've wanted to do again for so long has already done so much for my mental health hahaha

Isn't it funny how we practice yoga and are all good and then life gets in the way and we keep pining for yoga, and then finally we start up again and are like, 'why did I ever stop?!' Haha, it's the yoga cycle :)

Thanks for uploading this Candace. I learned how to practise some very strenuous asanas 17 years ago now, postures such as the camel and the snake. I also learned Surya Namaskar which I'd practise vigorously. The posture which I always found difficulty with was the tree. It looks such a simple, easy asana to practise but it was such a challenge to maintain my balance for long.
I would be deeply touched if you'd allow me to write about what has become a very difficult situation for me with regards to yoga Candace. What prompted me to learn hatha 17 years ago was my wish to deal effectively with the anxieties and depressions which I'd struggled with since I was a teenager. I had soon found the therapy which I needed in yoga. I had to work hard and combine my practise of asanas with vigorous cardio workouts (boxing, running and swimming) and I would sometimes moan at the efforts I had to make. For example, I found myself going out to run at 2am when it was snowing. But, with this discipline and hard work, I was able to deal with the anxieties and depressions which had plagued me previously.
In 2017, 15 years after I had learned yoga, I was weary of the effort I had to put into my therapy and I wondered if I would be better in a relationship rather than being alone. That was a fateful error Candace. I found myself in a relationship with someone who neglected and exploited me. My will to practise hatha and exercise decreased and depression returned to haunt me. I returned to live with my father in March of this year but my nightmare continues as I have been stupid enough to become emotionally dependent on someone who was only too happy to humiliate me and has continued to neglect me. I sit in my father's house all day with rarely the energy to leave the house. I venture out twice a week to shop for food. Depression and anxiety make my life a misery and without making an unnecessary point about the matter, I often feel that ending my own life is my only way out of this misery.
I must have trust Candace, I must have faith that I will be liberated from this trap and find myself being able to practise hatha again. I would be deeply touched if you and anyone reading this would consider sparing me a thought so that the Universe may hear of my plight with a stronger voice and respond to my plight. Thank you Candace, God bless you,
    Michael
