Alligator Blood is peak metalcore era BMTH. Metalcore in general imho. Love Sempiternal but There Is A Hell will always be my favorite. Fantastic playing Andrew!
Drop a# has always been my favorite. Deeper than drop B and C (obviously) but more versatile and easier to be upbeat than drop A and can get those heavy chugs in there
Bit of an oddball one but I'd love to see Beauty by Tigercub in there. Not reaaaally metal, but it's groovy as all hell and still pretty crushing, especially live. Terribly underappreciated band in general, and they played a huge role in selling me on lower tunings.
Alligator blood is a great pick but the outro riff to anthem is the heaviest riff on that album, especially since it was a tempo change leading into it ahh still love it to this day
CARBOMB! One of the best songs you could've seen live back then. As Blood Runs black may have been the been the best heavy show back then. I'd say animals as leaders, but they weren't 'heavy' just absolutely amazing lol
Now that there are 10 strings down tuning or drop tinkng to G# CAN be arbitrary. G#1 tuning cam be reached the follwing ways 1. Chad uses a 7 string and Ryan uses a baritone on several songs. Hell most of their early stuff is in drop c and they used drop b on the “heavier” focused songs
@@donbishop6994 I just found out a few years back and it threw me for a loop. I knew some of it sounded low but I didn’t realize how low until I looked it up. I think I was looking up how to play Burn It To The Ground and it showed tabs for a 7 string and I was like that’s wrong entirely. I then looked up them playing it live and sure enough, he had a 7 string Gibson Explorer in his hand
Hell yeah Silent Planet. I'm pretty sure I left in the middle of them playing that song at Warped Tour to go buy all their albums at their merch table immediately haha
Favorite tuning, by far. So many bands with gnarly riffs in this tuning (In Flames, Bury Your Dead, Sevendust, just to name a small sample of others not on this list) This Means War is unironically legit. Shame they didnt write more like that.
Anything by Sulhpur Aeon Salt the Wound Three Fountains by August Burns Red Deliver me by Parkway Drive. Underutilized tuning, and badass tuning. Great playing Andrew!
My favorite riffs in this tuning? Whole Sybreed discography ;) I was expecting at least one song from them or from In Flames but at least i found some new good riffs.
@@brandonbryson3317there was one deathcore band there lol. He just picked a bunch of breakdowns for some reason. If he picked more than a breakdown for Shadow of Intent and Parkway Drive it would have been the worst riff in the video.
@@goobingtons yeah I guess the riffs he chose just reminded me mostly what I hear in deathcore. lol I’m just tired of all the breakdown heavy music. I was in a band like that in my early 20s and it was fun…but man between these bands and all the locals where I live…I’ve heard every variation of a breakdown that exists about 1000 times over.
I think we all know Nickleback can not only write but play too… which makes it that much more disappointing they choose to write 90% schlock. Just that much more wasted talent lol

Anthem final breakdown riff would have been good from that album too
Visions too…. That is one heavy mfer
facts dude
Their absolute best album imo. Heavy riffs with beautiful synths, without they super modern metalcore production
Nickleback riff goes the hardest
Gonna have to agree
Ironic, isn't it?
@@SamBrockmann they're secretly metal heads who write some of the best songs on the radio
Definitely not true
@@goobingtons , are you deaf? It is true. The other riffs were very boring.
Dude idc what anybody says Nickleback has some incredible riffs. That's why they get stuck in your head for the next 3 days every time you hear one
Drop a# has always been my favorite. Deeper than drop B and C (obviously) but more versatile and easier to be upbeat than drop A and can get those heavy chugs in there
In Flames - Take This Life seems to be missing
Some honourable mentions: Erra - Hybrid Earth, Like Moths To Flame - Over the Garden Wall, After The Burial - Lost in The Static
Hybrid Earth is always where my mind goes when I think of drop A#
Hybrid Earth rips, wish I had thought of that one haha
Think ATB might be in A# Standard on a 7 string if I'm being pedantic? Correct me if I'm wrong though!
@@phobos7176 You are correct! The tabs I have seen and learned from have been in Drop A# on a 6 string, works with both
had no idea nickelback where chill like that
The faces Andrew makes while slaying the chugs are great 😂. You're an awesome musician, Andrew!
Dead man’s chest just brings me back to when I’d go with my buddys surfing in the winter in 40 degree water lol
Out of all your drop whatever vids, this one has got to be my personal favorite - so many bangers!
It's hilarious how the Nickelback riff, you know, a band we never would associate with metal, is actually the best one.
Maybe because most of the others riffs are just breakdowns?
@@TheAlex4019 , that's my point.
@@SamBrockmannyeah because he picked songs with good riffs and played breakdowns.
Wrong.
@@goobingtons , wait, so what you're saying is, he didn't play the parts of the song that we actually care about? 🤣😂

Baritone with a killswitch
Badass shit! My favorite tuning for sure
That shadows of intent riff was tasty!! Love the content.
Sybreed is an honourable mention, too (especially Rusted, Doomsday Party, No Wisdom Brings Solace, and Permafrost)
Acacia strain is the meanest
I saw a thing that was like “The Acacia Strain: What a felony assault charge sounds like” and it’s so true
Mind boggling that Diary of Jane was not here.
So sick to see the JFAC love. Genesis is still one of my favorite albums ever.
Cool list. My top 3 for this tuning are:
1. My Ticket Home - Hot Soap
2. Darke Complex - One of Us
3. Ocean Grove - Intimate Alien

Amidst the Bloodshed by I Declare War and Carnal Repercussions by Salt the Wound are both albums in A# full of many catchy and fun riffs

Tele? Drop A#? I didn’t think it could handle the gauge needed to play in those low tunings. Mine is made for D Standard.
Fucking awesome! I love this sound so much
The interlude to Pinball Map by In Flames is my favorite Drop A# riff ever
You forgot the Sevendust riffs! Legendary “All I See Is War” riffs to our community, bro. Hope your remember next time. Luv u 🫶🏻
Sybreed - "Decoy" and "Challenger". 🤘
