One of my favourite songs in drop F# is Hole in the Earth by Deftones, which is funny because it's actually high enough that it could be played in drop D on a six strings
Hole in the Earth is in Drop F# in a 7 strings (F# C# F# B E A# D#) like C# standard in 6 strings (3 semitones down) and the first two strings tuned like Eb (a semitone down from E standard)and the F# on the 7 string (3 semitones down starting from Drop A 7 strings) different notes of Drop F# in 6 strings (F# C# F# B D# G#) like 8 semitones down from Drop D… gauge strings and placement of almost same notes but in different strings change the tone a lot.
@@Looped_again that's fair. We all have a few bands that are more enjoyable live. I really like Periphery live, I think they sound better and have more energy than their records.
If anyone is interested in some other songs in this tuning from a less technical and more visceral perspective, the mighty ISIS have three songs in this tuning; "Collapse and Crush", "Holy Tears" and "Threshold of Transformation" (F#-F#-B-E-G#-b). A bit more sludge with some post rock/metal elements (Neurosis meets Tool meets Explosions in the Sky).
I always expect any of Thornhill’s Drop F# stuff when I see such vids! This time as well, but I guess they still are not discovered by many guitar related youtubers which is sad!
I was full expecting "I always thought of drop F# as the drop E of the drop G of the drop C of the drop B of the drop B# of the drop H of the drop C of 6 strings"
Doomsday, Architects written by Tom searle before death and played by josh Middleton on guitar is a amazing song and rift, to play on the bass is basically identical and takes some skill to produce , RIP TOM SEARLE❤
Pretty much need a baritone/ extended range guitar for that correct? I have a LP style guitar and even with mammoth slinky’s drop A starts getting pretty loose. Time for a baritone?
W ERRA W Termina W Volumes just sad to see no Meshuggah. that guitar is one of the coolest ive ever seen though kinda reminds me of the old see through xbox controller
Do you think he’s really going for a good mix though? Not saying that in a mean way but just to show some quick riffs for a video I wouldn’t go too deep into the mixing

Better than black metal with modern metal production, right?

Well everyone told them to tune lower but he hates all his friends, so
@@OGM_OriginalGameMusici guess he found them lack taste sometimes...
It's on an 7-string drop F# so not quite this kinda drop F# but I get what you're saying
fine by baena since the rivers of nihil riff literally doesnt go below the c# lol
I got a bit confused when you started playing Termina, for a second I fogot where I was 😅 But yeah, that's a really cool riff.
Same I thought an old Nik Nocturnal video started lol
Drop F# is the drop F# of drop F#
But ONLY when it's in Drop F#, don't forget.
2:19 I thought I was watching a Nik Noturnal outri for a minute there 🤣
Not gonna lie, that limp bizkit riff hits pretty hard
Check out the riff from out of style that one is also a banger

Termina Lucid is pretty sick
To this day The Mixture is so nasty

thanks for the new band homie, adding it to my playlist :)
I was happily surprised to see Rivers of Nihil in the middle of all the djent/metalcore bands. This band is a real riff machine
Agree but he stops playing right before the best riff kicks in!
ngl i was expecting coven by thornhill or any other old song in F# from them
i love learning thornhill riffs, they are all deceptively difficult
god i fucking LOVE thornhill
wish it was on there, it’s such a fun song to play
THORNHILL NEEDS MORE LOVE. I got thrown/my hair stepped on in a smaller Chicago show. Literally so much fucking fun😭
I always expect any of Thornhill’s Drop F# stuff when I see such vids! This time as well, but I guess they still are not discovered by many guitar related youtubers which is sad!
i love aluminati guitars, that thing looks incredible. hope they recover from the storm alright.
That guitar is insanely cool
Doomed User is an 8-string riff. The better picks would be Rats Rats Rats or Kimdracula. Or even Needles & Pins.
needles and pins is not f#
@@tfwnoyandere it is
@@Glasshexagon my mistake, they indeed dont play lower than f# on the bass guitar that song was tracked on
@@tfwnoyandere Bass is not lower than C#1 here though
@@Glasshexagon correct, im talking about the distortion bass they used in place of a regular guitar for that song
Sounds like an amp sim with the cab off :S love that groovy loookin' guitar though Andrew and those pants! :)
The Rivers inclusion seemed weird considering there are many more heavy and fun riffs off of that album that are lower in register.
so happy to see that specific Within Destruction riff in there that shit is sick
also another: Spiritbox - Jaded
I think the breakdown from ragnarok is even more sick. The intro/primary riff is fine i guess
Agreed
Drop F# is the queen of 7 String tunings. 😤
Also SOOOOO glad you put The Silent Life in here!
Вес Борланд играл в F# когда это еще не было модно
So we're not gonna talk about how andrew misspelled "Originally" at 3:53 ?
3:13 is just me or this riff reminds that interlude of Black hole sun from Soundgarden?
Great tone, what a pedal! What a guy! Heavy riffs and a great ear for tones... -G 🎸
love drop F#. i love sneaking a few chromatic F# in anything I'm playing
Wish that Within Destruction album got more love. It's a favorite, thanks for giving it some spotlight.
Thats guitar sounds sick in this this tuning 🔥🤌

All my favorite bangers. Nice.
Dude- that guitar is fucking sick!!!!
Slaughter to Prevail shirt...😎👌
Doomed User is my favorite Deftones song, and it's in F# Standard :D
But yeah I'm really surprised by how that Rectifier pedal handles the Drop F# :)
I’ve never heard F# sound so thin
Awesome vid Beana, we need an updated Drop E video next, just 8 string riffs 🤘🏻
Came here to say Doomed User by Deftones is actually on an 8-string in standard F#, not drop F#
We seriously have enough rectumfryers we need more ENGL preamp pedals
Doomsday, Architects written by Tom searle before death and played by josh Middleton on guitar is a amazing song and rift, to play on the bass is basically identical and takes some skill to produce , RIP TOM SEARLE❤
Heard the Termina song and thought we skipped to a Nik Nocturnal video XD

Need some Thornhill if we get a version 2 of Drop F#
so cool, thanxx, please show the gauge of the strings 🤘
this on a 6 string is soooo awesome
Hi Andrew! What string gauge do you suggest for a 7 string guitar for drop f#? Thx in advance!

Hell yeah brother 🔥🔥🔥
Now, Nik should include Carcosa in either a drop E vid or heavy 8 string riffs.🤷😊
hell yeahh volumes
I love your head and amp. Fav color. 🎉o
what guitar is that? that thing is so sexy
I'd have gone with the river immediately after the Silent Life one you chose since that one uses the low F#, great list otherwise!

It hears like white noise
The cymbols are really over powering in the mix

Yeah doesn't sound so good. The shells get quite lost in the mix as well. The kick sounds a bit "plasticky".
@@rob0nemusic369 I don't think it hears bad at all.

How does the man of extended range guitars not know that 90% of these songs are on 7 strings
I do lol, but none of them use all 7 strings so who cares it works the same way
OKAY 😱
Even on tunuing Doomsday have BLEG# sound xD

So Limp Bizkit makes it on the list but Slipknot’s “Scissors” which is tuned F#-F#-B-E-G#-C#, does not?
