Well, it naturally lends itself to playing triads easily. The top 4 strings are tuned F, C, F, A (which is a F major played open). Then, it's tuned to D, G, C. (Add another high F for 8 string.) Although, some folks tune a few strings sharp, such as A#, D#, G#. The point is, it's a very easy shape for playing major and minor chords.

It’s as rhythmically chaotic as any Meshuggah song, while the note choice just makes it sound downright evil. I’m definitely biased tho, Vildhjarta was one of the first metal bands I was seriously into, and I remember as if it were yesterday when I was waiting in line to pick up my little brother from middle school, and then proceeded to have my young brain absolutely obliterated by this monstrous riff

Northlane's Drop F tuning is actually Drop A# + a low F, rather than C standard + low F which is the common version. Also, Crystal Lake plays in F standard, not drop. Great collection of riffs, nonetheless.

@@adriandunemann8246you’re gonna want a multiscale bass and at least a 170 gauge string. A lot of bands just typically tune the bass to the standard octave once you get this low, it typically just sounds better

Bands like Spiritbox, Wage War, FFAK, are why I restrung one of my 7's to handle Drop F. Songs written in and around F just have such a dark, but also beautiful, aura to them. 🤘
Actually I think, of all things, MIW's "Timebomb" was what really piqued my interest in Drop F. Maybe a little bit of a different flavor compared to the others, but the riffs in that song are super tasty.

I think that portion of Stitch is technically double drop A# since the original is drop A# and they drop an octave for the outro riff

That's an 8-string, and since it's tuned a half-step above Drop E (EBEADGBE), it should be F-C-F-A#-D#-G#-C-F.
