    • @SamBrockmann
      @SamBrockmann 3 месяца назад

      Well, it naturally lends itself to playing triads easily. The top 4 strings are tuned F, C, F, A (which is a F major played open). Then, it's tuned to D, G, C. (Add another high F for 8 string.) Although, some folks tune a few strings sharp, such as A#, D#, G#.
      The point is, it's a very easy shape for playing major and minor chords.

    • @tfwnoyandere
      @tfwnoyandere 3 месяца назад

      @@Kaktysh_metal nope. all harmonically equivalent keys are literally identical aside from pitch. the intervals are identical. what you're referring to is the no longer used (ever) ancient church modes for which the dominant tuning system(s) made different keys actually distinct from each other. in 12tet (hint in the term EQUAL temperament), there is zero distinction aside from overall pitch

    • @acidicus98
      @acidicus98 3 месяца назад +1

      @@isaiaht8648since the song is normally in drop a#, the “a” string is tuned to an f already so you can drop it an octave and just play the riff on the 5th/a string instead of the lowest string. That is what I’ve done with my band when we cover that. That could be why you are seeing it tabbed as an octave down.

    Dagger is still one of my favorite songs to play. While drop f normally lends itself to a more melodic and melancholic tone, Vildy went in the complete opposite direction. It’s as rhythmically chaotic as any Meshuggah song, while the note choice just makes it sound downright evil.
    I’m definitely biased tho, Vildhjarta was one of the first metal bands I was seriously into, and I remember as if it were yesterday when I was waiting in line to pick up my little brother from middle school, and then proceeded to have my young brain absolutely obliterated by this monstrous riff

      Dagger is one of my favourite songs too. It sounds like if someone was at a place they shouldn't be, awaked some cosmic horror entity and had to run for his life through a maze in the dark. The strength, chaos, fear, and evil is 10/10

    Bands like Spiritbox, Wage War, FFAK, are why I restrung one of my 7's to handle Drop F.
    Songs written in and around F just have such a dark, but also beautiful, aura to them.

      Actually I think, of all things, MIW's "Timebomb" was what really piqued my interest in Drop F.
      Maybe a little bit of a different flavor compared to the others, but the riffs in that song are super tasty.

    The heavy riffs start at The Acacia Strain. You're welcome.

    Drop B on an 8-string is B F# B E A D G B. (Don’t forget to play “Dead Memories” by Slipknot)

    What is the point of tuning down so low on a guitar when you’re filling the mids with more guitar and keys. Why not just play bass? It’s just muddy.
