65 years old here,, took me right back to 1971 🎶💕💕💕💕😊
I’m 68, and for no apparent reason this song popped into my head this morning. I am so glad to have found it! Thank you.
Exact same thing for this 63-year old! I forgot about the girl's ("Ah's" though)
Me too! 62
An older friend in a board and Care Home, who does not have access to the Internet, called me this afternoon and told me that the “Chicka boom” chorus popped into her head this morning. she wanted to know if such a song exists or if she is crazy. I reassured her that the song does exist.
I’m 65. That is SO strange how that happens. My grandkids are here and it just popped into my head out of the blue too. Brought back great memories! 😁
@@nomi7674 I'm 65 too!! I must have wore this 45 out on my record player!! 🎶🎶 I love 💖 the early 70s when I was pre teen 😊💕💕💕

I'm 65 born and raised in Texas and I sure remember it!
I am 61 also, but this certainly isn't the first time hearing this song. Takes me back to a summer vacation in the early 70's.
I'm 65 & this still.puts a smile on my face & makes me want to dance. Spread the love, y'all!!! 😊😊😊
I`m 70 and still remember all the words
I am only a few years younger than you and I have never heard this before. I only came to listen because I saw a list of famous one hit wonders and this was one of the very few songs I did not know about

So, I had to have a listen and play it for my grandson. 😄

@@Howdyall same here. I was driving home with my granddaughter and I started singing this song! She thought I made it up so I played it for her. She loved it . So many memories for me!
Mee too lol 🤣😆🤣😆
Happened to me today. I asked Alexa to play it but always played something wrong and different. Found it here today. Craving satisfied!
I loved this song as a teen as well. I am now 64! The best years of my life!❤😊
Hard to believe I was only 10 yrs old when this came out, and it was played on New York radio so much that it is still burned into my brain. Thanks be to whoever uploaded this. This why I love RUclips and getting to hear all this old stuff (I am 62) that gets the blood flowing and the legs moving 😅
That's neat
May 1971-WHAT a year for music!
Have not heard this in DECADES!
The other day I sang the chorus to my 7 month old grandson. He absolutely loved it, so now if he cries I sing it to him. He laughs at the first line. I always come up with little songs to sing to him, to make him laugh
This song was originally used on CBS's "SABRINA AND THE GROOVY GOOLIES" cartoon series in Fall 1970 by the people at Filmation Associates- Ed Fournier, Richard Monda, and Richard Levy did this song for the series and an LP that RCA Records also released.
Also, Shermley Music published much of the background music used in Filmation cartoons throughout most of their 25-year history!!
Yep, I remember
Oh, yeah! I remember that, too! Sometimes I hear the old songs and think, "wow! still great after all these years!" Others, it's, "We really listened to that $&@%?" Good to hear this one, though! Thanks!
I'm turning 61 in June & remember this classic from when I was just a little boy. I just love it...
This, and Gimme Dat Ding...the early 70's were nuts!
My first Gold Record! I remember this session because I had just received my custom-made drums from Camco...Me and Daddy go way back. Thanks Dick...

Hey thanks for digging up this old great song! Pretty cool! Those of us who love music like I do, that is a great service to everybody!
I was singing this song tonight and my wife didn't remember ever hearing it. So, here we are! I sing the chorus at various inopportune times at work!
"various inopportune times at work"? Oh YES. You've given me ANOTHER thing to do that will annoy the few unhappy people I work with before I retire!

Looking back over 50 years ago bubblegum pop was the rage
You cannot beat the sound of vinyl. Thanks, for sharing!
I have had that song stuck in my head for over 40 years. I finally searched the song out. It made me laugh out loud. I sent it to all my siblings because the album belonged to one of them. I was under 10 the last time I heard it, I’m 53.
Chick a Boom! Haven't heard this in (hate to say it) 30 years. What a wonderful memory. Thank you.
I just bought Boom Chikka Pop popcorn, and had this earworm stuck in my head!
Carol Kazebeer oh goodness, same goes here! I played my moms record of this over and over in my bedroom as a teenager 😂 too many memories flooding in right now!
30? Been longer for me! I’ve been trying to find it & came across it while checking out an Osmonds song 😂😂😂

I was a few months shy of 8 when this came out. Waaaaaay the hell better than anything today!
Great fun song from 1971! 1971 was a fun year!
@WABCRADIO77 That's exactly where I heard this song as a ten year-old in NYC. I also listened to WWDJ. Great music, great times!
I remember as a kid hearing and then loving this song first on The Groovie Ghoulies cartoon show on Saturday morning and next thing I know it became a hit song on the radio!
Same here!
Those Ghoulies!
"AAAHROOH!
AAAHROOH ROOH-ROOH!!"
I had that 45!!!! Love the way you introduced it to the turntable! CHICK-A-BOOOOOOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Still my favorite childhood song...still makes me smile and laugh
A really great novelty tune that went to number 9 on the U.S. Billboard pop chart in 1971. The song was written by Janice Lee Gwin and Linda Martin; it was recorded by songwriter Richard "Dick" Monda under the pseudonym "Daddy Dewdrop". Monda was born in 1940 in Cleveland, Ohio. Thanks for posting this video of my past memories!
And it was written for the animated cartoon show “The Groovie Goolies.”
One of the songs that keeps reminding me of my class mates of our final year of high school.Where are you guys in our seventies?!?!
Actually it WAS written by Dick. Linda was his late wife...
Great song!
Loved this as a kid ! Never forgot the the phrase.. 'chick-a-boom'.
Such fun !!
Another fantastic oldie but Goldie
I'm 20 and I grew up listening to this song in my dad's truck (early 2000s). Brings back memories for sure!
was washing dishes and started sing this song out loud, they thought i was crazy. pulled this up to show them. these were to good old days...
Totally forgotten about this one! Yes it was a very popular song in the early 70s. You could hear it on the radio all day long. Very catchy, easy to sing along to. Thanks to RUclips. Good times indeed!
Literally the first 45 record that I ever played OVER AND OVER on my older sister's "compact record player." I had maybe just turned 4? Pensacola, Florida and I couldn't figure out how this "miniature band" fit into said record player at my age and WHY THIS WAS THE ONLY DAMN SONG THEY KNEW,but I loved it! Couple years later, Pearl Harbor HI, my sister turned me on to one of those BIG RECORDS...... It was Sgt. Pepper's, by some "British group" and I really played the hell outta that!!!!! It was so scratched and popped, but I didn't care! I'm 54 now and I was a fairly successful musician in my day and I can't ever forget how "Chicka boom" and the Beatles changed my life forever!
I first heard it in Pensacola too, but I was 16. Still love hearing it.
Sang this morning out of the blue. It’s been over decades since I heard this. Great song
Love it
What a catchy and happy little ditty. I still have the 45 in the paper sleeve. One of the better one hit wonders for these crappy quarantine days. The 70's live on and on and on.
Great Song! Miss those times!
I remember this song when I was in my young teens. And to this day I find myself singing Chick-a-boom when I see a scantly clad lady. LOL
Hahaha showtime brought me here🤣😅chika boom!
This song is so awesome!
I can’t believe I remembered every word and haven’t heard it since I was 18 years old.
Cool song. Thank you 😊
Great song ! Brings back great memories !!!
Takes me back to my local neighborhood skating rink when I was in elementary school. Heard this song played there quite often.

I’m 62 and still rockin’ out to this one! Also I remember watching them perform this on my cartoons called the Groovy Ghoolies which were Dracula, Frankenstein’s monster and a werewolf!
Here i am arm chair quarterback Sunday watching the New York Jets playing Green Bay,,an this song 🎵 poped in my head,,,awesome.
Heard this on the Groovy Ghoulies cartoon.
We had this on our jukebox.
Loved it. Still listen.
love this song.
great music
Been a long time... almost forgot about this one! As kids we were crazy about this song when it first came out. It was an easy one to sing the chorus. Guess we just let Daddy Dewdrop sing the rest of the song...
Awesome ! Great memories !
This song jumped into my head this morning causing me to burst into song so I figured I'd better check it out again. 😊🙃
I'm 55 and this was my jam in 1974. My Mom used to play this for me all the time
@@delbertgrady413 not me
The first time I heard this song, I thought to myself, "So this is what would have happened if Eric Burdon got drunk instead of just spilling the wine" . . . and all these years later, the groove is still a killer.
You absolutely nailed it. I was doing my best to channel Eric as I thought Spill the wine was perfect. Thank you.
😲🤭😁😃😄😆😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Actually it was me on drums along with Neil Diamonds keyboardist and Helen Reddy's bassist...
@@butchrillera669 Dude...Wow! I bet you got some stories!!!✌🏼😃
Same year as Spill the Wine.. - both recited dreams.... Yes, those songs had some similarities...
Yes we made through the 70s,, Still loving it,,
A pleasant memory
Omg I thought of this song and had to play it. Lol I was about 12 yrs old and had this 45. Years just flew folks! Lol
I had that record. .....played the heck out of it and so many others
Great post. It triggered a memory of listening to an AM radio in the garage and my youngest sister had to run in and report to our mother that I was listening to "spicy" music. She is now a grandmother. It is hard to believe that either of us was ever that young. Thanks again.
What does “spicy” mean?
Jack Wehrung
Where did you come up with that?
Jack Wehrung
Thank you.
@@jessieessex it may be that she meant it was racy or suggestive since it's about a guy chasing after a girl who takes off her bikini to leave a trail.
CorruptedMask
That could be the case. Thanks.
I have my moms 45 of this song. My sister and I LOVED it. We were so young we couldn't even read yet so we drew hearts and stars on this side so we would know what side was chick-a-boom. Great memories! Great Song!
THE CARTOON VERSION WAS DIFFERENT
I don’t know what made me think of this song. I was 9 when it came out. I knew all the words. Wow.
The 70's when there was so much to choose from.those great songs just kept coming.😃😃🤣🤣😂😂😁😁😀😀.

bringing back 1972-73 for me. used to bring this to my CATHOLIC grade school when we got to have recess inside!
One of the most fun and feel good songs ever done. Makes you just want to sing along!
Chicka boom boom boooom! Hello from Canada, Daddy Dewdrop!
I have no idea why, but I had this 45 as a kid. Used to play it all the time.
I remember this song from my high school days 50 years ago!
OMG! I absolutely Loved this song when I was a kid!! Chick A Boom was the shit!
Had that 45 How did WE get so old ?
Montgomery Denzer I agree Montgomery. We went through our 20's, 30's, and 40's ok but all of a sudden I'm now 73. When did that happen?
Yeah it sure snuck up on us! I'm 56 but you gotta agree it was a great ride
Montgomery Denzer Absolutely!!! Although I'm not real happy about being 73, I sure wouldn't want to be in my 20's or 30's at this time. I don't like the way the country is going. I think the relative near future is going to be pretty rough.
I think every generation had it's issues to deal with(Spanish Inquisition/WW11/Vietnam/ETC)but least in my day I only paid $275 rent for my 1 bedroom apt. and my 68 Camaro only cost me $1000 (and only $15 to fill it up)! Yeah it's going to be rough sailing ahead. Aloha
Montgomery Denzer We never get old. We remain classic.
great song
I love this song.
Love this song!
My mom told me a story about this song. Finally got to hear it. This is awesome.
That was my.very.first 45 record. I still love this song. Lol...just picture a little first grader/me singing this song at the top of my lungs every.chance I got..those werenfun days!
Some ancient synapse arose from sleep to sing me this song - haven’t heard it since it was in regular rotation (back when dinosaurs ruled the earth). I know *everything* is on the web somewhere but I was happy & surprised to find this on RUclips!
Maybe now that synapse will be satisfied and settle down - I hope so! “You Light Up My Life” wasn’t that many years later. And if my brain starts singing that, I’m having us committed (after two choruses, I’ll have no choice, anyway... it’ll have driven me mad as a hatter by then).
My generation have the best music ever! 60s 70s 80s, 90s awsom time for living .Great song!
it is cool
